Now you can Root your Xperia m2 with lollipop firmware using Kingroot
download the latest version from thier site....
it also works for Xperia T2 ,Z1,Z2 ,etc[Lollipop]...
Somehow I have a feeling that it's basicly this. Lookout discovered this a day ago and now we have a rooting method already. This is suspicious

Thankfully, it is not. I already did some research around that in a spanish blog, and the exploits used to take advantage of the vulnerabilities are: Memexploit, Framaroot and ExynosAbuse. If you look at the scripts closely, you do realize they have something in common, they are built to exploit Samsung devices, for example, Mem Exploit is made to root devices such as the S2 and S3, while ExynosAbuse is made to root the S3 and note 2 (and even some google nexus 10 if I read correctly, remember it's manufactured by samsung). Also, Framaroot, even tho is a common solution for various devices (see MTK proccessors), it can also root the mentioned Samsung devices, like S2, S3, etc... (And even some qcom.)
In conclusion, nothing to worry about this time, seems (IMO) that the adware campaign is not related with KingRoot.
BTW, I just tried KingRoot, and well... Works. Nothing to complain about.
The Proof: (i did flash entire system before doing anything. before rebooting YOU MUST USE the Ric Disabler tool from the Open Bootloader Root Method)

That's the last thing you should be using to root your phone. Dodgy Chinese closed source software could contain anything. It sends the imei no of every phone it roots to a unknown ip address in China.

I have read that rooting Sony devices make the camera worse (because it disables the image processing propietary drivers). is this true with kingroot?

RIC disabler is a tool which disables the system write protection.
So if you dont use it you cant write to /system.

It seems they need to send IMEI numbers to identify the phones so that they can apply the tested working rooting procedure on them. I'm not very happy giving it away either, but I just checked a couple of phone boxes and the IMEI numbers are printed outside, together with the bar codes. So I am not sure those should be considered private information at this point. I would be much more concerned if they sent out the address book.
Still, for being dodgy they managed to root it. That's wizardy. Or there are already some exploits available (I didn't follow much lately)?

What's new ? What bug fixed ? Camera quality improved ?
Dont install this rome. The phone is laggy i dont see any improvements at all.All of my apps started crashing right after i installed the rom and i installed the apps.Event the damn default lockscreen got stuck and i had to restart my phone so i can unlock it..
Im going back to the old one
Anyone else? Any updates?
Not rolling out for other models yet
It became available for D2303 in Italy today. I am going to install it soon (now I'm backing up the phone just in case). But there is not OTA update, it needs to be downloaded and installed via computer. Is that normal? I have still nearly 2GB free in the internal memory, so it shouldn't be it.

Are you sure about it? There was a rooting technique that first rooted the phone (thus modifying /system) using the JB rom and then updating to kitkat via OTA.

Sony explicitly says that we may lose the warranty unlocking the bootloader. The trick is that in order to do so we must send the IMEI number, so they can double check in their databases. And they claim that unlocking the bootloader may lead to the installation of ROMs overheating the phone. Kinda slimey if you ask me. Other than BS, since the HW must self-protect itself from overheating. If it doesn't the HW is junk and deserves to be repaired under warranty.
The rooting alone (with bootloader locked) instead is an hack. It would be a bit like saying that we lose the warranty on a Windows PC because we installed Linux instead. Still, one can remove the rooting (unless the motherboard is fried or something like that).
I don't know about the mic bug either. But there is the latest KK 4.4.4 update, it's supposed to fix the bugs. Just go for it.

It's in the name, CE5 = Customized Europe Number 5.
Rxx is just a identifier, maybe for the bloatware apps, I'm not sure. It doesn't matter which one you flash.
The only thing to worry about is that the FTF matches your device model (D2303 = D2303; D2303 ≠ D2306).

Hi!! I just flashed Xperia M2 D2306 with Lolipop 5.1.1.
So what happens is that on flash tools, i did not excluded "Simlock", i didn't think that it would cause any trouble, since my phone is already network unlocked.
So i flash it and everything goes fine, exept that i have no signal! :crying:
I tried flashing back to KK 4.4.4, but still no signal, i can't even conect to my default carrier!! I have a message saying "Invalid simcard - Emergency calls only".
If i go to Service Info>SIM Lock i get this:
[ ] Network 0
[ ]Network Subset 0
[ ]Service Provider 0
[ ]Corporate 0
[ ]SIM 0
And if a remove the sim card, and place it back it, it does not ask for an unlock code, it only says "Invalid simcard - Emergency calls only".
I'm worried because i just can't find a fix for this! I know that there are other peolple with this issue, but non of their answers has helped me! Pleas any one else has this issue!? O knows how to fix it!? I'll really appreciate it!!
Thanks in advance!! :good:

Not as of right now, I'm afraid. If 4.4.4 FTF doesn't fix it, then it's a serious problem.
BTW, @kim91 what FTF did you flash? 2306 too?
I'd like to know if my FTF is corrupted or not, but so far nobody reported anything. And the FTF is Generic GEL, and it doesn't even include SimLock.ta (Just checked, so NO SPECIFIC CARRIER), so it shouldn't give any trouble.

The FTF that has the simlock.ta is the one on the post, for D2306, the one you got on you FTF Centre doesn't
But it was too late becauae i had already flashed the simlock.ta

Then it's weird... Maybe that algeria FTF had the SimLock too. And @Sidow, it's because the TA is corrupted, probably. Can you check your Rooting status? It's inside the same service menu you opened before...

I've checked that, and on rooting status, where it usually says "boot loader unlock allowed", now it just says "unknown"!
Man this is really irritating, if i was able to flash the simlock, i should be able to remove it, i've tried several things but nothing works

Well...not so bad...
@linuxct thank you for the reply. I have the same quality on my prerooted 5.1.1 now. By the way, the quality on kitkat was much better, but I think we have to live with this quality since I wrote to Sony and they missed their 48h deadline to reply me back.

Compared to a friend M2 with Vodafone ES Lollipop... (not joking)
Mine are way better, IMO. His photos look very fuzzy, and white on the centre. I don't know why, but on some phones, camera is way better than on others.
Are there any differences between your CE1 and that one from XperiFirm? :good:
Is this version already rooted?
So, i flashed this ftf and my camera is horribly like on another ftf .. i dont know why ..

Thanks. I thought those poor camera stills in Lollipop were caused by the lost of DRM keys.
How about the other issues some are experiencing, such as low memory warnings, unexpected reboots, etc.
And also, how is your battery consumption?
TIA.
I've not had any reboots yet, or low memory warnings camera seems fine and my GPS is working still getting a full day out the battery even if the drain seems quite high and 4hrs upwards of screen time depending on what I'm doing all in all I'm happy with it.

Sorry if I ask, I'm just a newbie. Are you referring to this TFT? What do you mean be by your signature, customized NCB rooted de-bloated [...]?
Customised NCB is the region of firmware I'm using in my m2, and it is rooted de-bloated just means I deleted all the Google or Sony apps I never use and I'm using t2u nut dual recovery.

Does that mean the customzed NCB is as the same as this Customized CE1, just different region?

File does not work. Turns on bluetooth but it stops working when attempting to send files. I don't think exporting other model's framework was a good idea.
Thank you for the benefits you bring, tomorrow I'll flash it hihi

Problems...
Hi @Gaurav007.
A few problems I've noticed using the new ROM you posted on the T2U thread:
Whenever I open a Sony Stock App (Music, Album, etc.), com.sonyericsson.illumination.service FCs. This seems to stop the proximity sensor from working, meaning that the app Gravity Screen no longer works... (I use the proximity sensor On/Off a lot)
When I start the phone, a message appears about closing the waterproofing covers on the phone... (As I'm sure you know, that's an error from the Z2, not from the C3/T2U...)
Camera can be opened by pressing the camera button, but the icon in the app drawer makes it FC.
Other than that, The new ROM works perfectly... No Bluetooth FCs, the only problem was installing the thing. AROMA doesn't work with Lollipop, I'd recommend that you just post 2 zips, Deodexed and Deodexed+Debolated... Because I've tried many AROMA zips and none of them work with eitherof the XZDR variants... (PhilZ or TWRP)
Thanks for the new version though.
P.S: Ive posted this on the T2U thread too, just in case...

Thanks for reporting
I'll make a different version for T2 and C3
And about illumination FC just delete that apk from System/app/semcillumination/ as C3 doesn't have illumination bar

Camera (Not Sony though...)
Proposed Camera Fix: Don't use the Sony camera. it (obviously) has many problems. I'm currently using Open Camera (Which, by the way @AutumQueen92 , decreases the camera blur!) and it works fine. Only thing I miss is the Sony camera effects, but it's a price to pay for a working camera...

Lel, I've been using it since the day I found the blur problem. It fixes *slightly* but still annoys me to no end. I've asked the dev about it and he/she says most likely it was the camera driver issue so no luck on his/her end for a full fix.

I only discovered it once the Sony camera started crashing on the Deodexed ROM, before then, I still used Sony's camera... I regret it now...

What settings do you use usually for it?
These are the normal image settings... Everything else I adjust on demand or just keep on auto.

Funnily enough, just looking through my old photos from KitKat, and comparing the quality to what I now have on open camera with Lollipop, the quality has actually INCREASED! I'm very surprised...
@AutumQueen92 If you say your camera is blurry, then maybe it's just a problem with your phone... Maybe manufacturing error or some error with your data... Can you download the Hong Kong 5.1.1 ftf and try that? (That's what I'm on, South Africa is still stuck on KitKat) If that doesn't work, try format /data. And include internal storage in the format. Should have the same effect as unlocking/locking your BL, but without actually doing anything to the BL. I dunno just try it, see what happens...

I'll keep that in mind since I won't be doing flashing for a while to test a few other stuff.
Btw, yeah I compared stock KitKat photos (surprised I still have them) with OC now and it improved a bit. I say blurry because I saw my Note 1's photos on the same app XD
