[Q] Xperia M2 simlocked after flashing 5.1.1! HELP! - Sony Xperia M2

Hi!! I just flashed Xperia M2 D2306 with Lolipop 5.1.1.
So what happens is that on flash tools, i did not excluded "Simlock", i didn't think that it would cause any trouble, since my phone is already network unlocked.
So i flash it and everything goes fine, exept that i have no signal! :crying:
I tried flashing back to KK 4.4.4, but still no signal, i can't even conect to my default carrier!! I have a message saying "Invalid simcard - Emergency calls only".
If i go to Service Info>SIM Lock i get this:
[ ] Network 0
[ ]Network Subset 0
[ ]Service Provider 0
[ ]Corporate 0
[ ]SIM 0
And if a remove the sim card, and place it back it, it does not ask for an unlock code, it only says "Invalid simcard - Emergency calls only".
I'm worried because i just can't find a fix for this! I know that there are other peolple with this issue, but non of their answers has helped me! Pleas any one else has this issue!? O knows how to fix it!? I'll really appreciate it!!
Thanks in advance!! :good:

I flashed the FTF file from your post on XperiaBlog "Android 5.1.1 Lollipop now rolling for Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua (18.6.A.0.175)", you're Sergio right? I flashed the one for D2306.

Yes... While flashing what did you check / uncheck? It's very important not to flash any SimLock.TA, and Flashtools WARNS you before flashing it. Did you flash it?

Yes.... I Flashed it. I've flashed everything on other sony devices, including simlock.ta and with out any issues. Flashtool never warned me about anything. But this time for some reason is giving me trouble..
Do you know how to fix it?

Not as of right now, I'm afraid. If 4.4.4 FTF doesn't fix it, then it's a serious problem.
BTW, @kim91 what FTF did you flash? 2306 too?
I'd like to know if my FTF is corrupted or not, but so far nobody reported anything. And the FTF is Generic GEL, and it doesn't even include SimLock.ta (Just checked, so NO SPECIFIC CARRIER), so it shouldn't give any trouble.

The FTF that has the simlock.ta is the one on the post, for D2306, the one you got on you FTF Centre doesn't
But it was too late becauae i had already flashed the simlock.ta
What i don't understand, is why i can't even connect to my default carrier? But it does not asks me for a code!

I used the official version for Algeria 5.1.1 D2302

Then it's weird... Maybe that algeria FTF had the SimLock too. And @Sidow, it's because the TA is corrupted, probably. Can you check your Rooting status? It's inside the same service menu you opened before...

I've checked that, and on rooting status, where it usually says "boot loader unlock allowed", now it just says "unknown"!

I updated my XJ and i see that multitasking is much better than before! The system is much smooth
wait untill the cache partition builds up
I have to say also that this update is so far much better.
Antutu is able to perform complete benchmarking (3D crashed and the result was 3000 and something), and the result is 4464. Much better than before. Also 2 or 3 more widgets, and I have nothing to complain so far... Only that there isn't yet a rooting method without unlocking bootloader.

In the meanwhile, can someone explain to me why with my X10 mini pro I had a smal ftf file (Kernel) and a large rom file, and the ftf for these phones is 400 MB?? I suspect this is not JUST the kernel... I think I saw small FTF files for this phone, and also these large files. Guess the large are for unlocked bootloaders, flash all at once...?
No OTA update this time?
Those small .ftf is custom made. The big ones, especially from update service blob_fs folder, contains all the stuff to flash. A clean, untouched, unrooted .ftf can be bigger than 400mb. Too bad, samsung users cant make their own odin files. Your x10mini rom might come with instructions like this: flash this .ftf via flash. Throw the .zip in microsd. Boot to cwm and flash the .zip. Thats why the .ftf is so small.

I had a bit of trouble uploading this, and I used a Mega account I have.
I think this is the proper way to share files publically.
https://mega.co.nz/#!CYAVWDzZ!IUb7R1S_QIsIKAtBHJgQtEAqAGsZeqEbIQeErlbYUow
And also in attachement is the log from my flashtool.
Is this it?
You can be the first ever to thank me.
I'm not breaking any laws here, am I...? I think these FTF files don't "suffer" from copyright issues...
I got the update too.
I just installed it and I'm waiting for it to finish!
Sadly it wasn't OTA which means I still can't root ICS and update OTA to this one .
Edit// Feels the same to me...I didn't have any problems with the lag before so it seems to move the same.
I would really like that someone found a rooting exploit for this fw. Missing my titanium explorer to remove All the crappy apps that come with the phone.

See if you have 2 or 3 more widgets with favorite contacts, and I think 3D is much better. Benchmark with antutu to verify that. I had 3000 and something befor, due to 3D. Now I have 4464.
What I really think is a flaw is the bottom led not lighting up with notifications, only if I put the screen on. I already have the app to solve that issue, but it should be embedd in the phone...

My Australian-bought XT1033 (dual sim) got Kitkat today.
System version is:
171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03
Looking into installing CWM - got adb working so will flash recovery and take a nandroid.
update: bah, just found that unlocking bootloader would void my warranty and requires a unique key from Motorola, so sorry, can't install CWM - phone is too new to void warranty until I'm sure it doesn't have any faults (this is my first non-Nexus phone so didn't realise bootloader unlocking would be so irritating).
edit: lol, looks like its already here on the forums, cool.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639384
I don´t know why, but my G isn´t installing this update on stock recovery and isn´t upgrading when using OTA updates. It always says that an error occurs, but never show me any error code. Anyone is having this issue?
Another strange thing, is that when I plug my device on my notebook, it doesn´t recognize which version of android I´m running.
I´ve flashed Blur_Version.14.91.9.falcon_umtsds.Brasil.en.BR and stills the same thing. Any help would be great
Thanks in advance.

Hi, will this work on locked and unlocked phones?
Doubt
Hi!
Could I use this ROM if I brick my phone? I do really intend to install CM11, but I'm afraid if something goes wrong what should I do. As long as I know, the RSD Lite doesn't recognize our Mogo G, is there another safe (and easy) way to recover our phone as factory default?
Another newbie doubt, if we do install a ROM (let's say, one of the Motorola site - http : // sbf.droid-developers.org / phone.php?device=14 -without spaces]) we will have our bootloader locked back?
Thanks!

I have the same XT1033 dual sim with 16GB and updated it to KitKat OTA. My Moto G was a grey import (into Australia) destined for India (it came with a Motorola charger and handsfree).
The system version is: 171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03. This update does not break USB OTG functionality, it's the same update that was rolled out in India. It now shows OTG capability in Settings > Storage (see the bottom where it says USB Disk). I haven't used it yet, but here's a video below demonstrating it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QLD8OknwyM
Here is a request to those that have updated to KitKat, is the OTG working after the update and which version was it?
And can someone upload the "171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip" update. I want to unlock and root, but also want to be able to return to the original stock rom later.
If you haven't updated yet, I think you can pull the file after you've downloaded it from the /Cache/ directory using adb. After downloading it, it will ask you whether to update later, choose later then pull the file to the desktop. I forgot to do this step...
Thanks :victory:
/EDIT
Nevermind, the Motorola naming of updates had me confused. The file that I was after was actually "Blur_Version.14.85.4.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip" which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49390749&postcount=1
When updated the version and baseband will be:
Baseband: MSM8626BP_1032.355.66.00R
System: 171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03
Kernel:3.4.0-g9f5dcdc

Just be prepared to do a bit of reading and research on the device and what you want to do with it. After a few years away from all this it can be a little overwhelming for me. If you can understand the process and learn from the mistakes others have made, you'll avoid them yourself. Be patient and think ahead, be sure of what you are doing and why then you won't have too many problems.

The only difference I think is the customization language, when you first start the phone it will come in russian/french, depending on the country of the rom... If i don't see the Customized_ES in XperiFirm until tonight, i'll flash this french version
Download link D2303_18.3.C.0.37_French Generic.ftf
Guys, I've got some questions about that ROM.
1. Could you guys post some simple instructions on how to flash this ROM onto my M2? I'm still kind of a noob when it comes to the Android world.
2. Will everything work normally if I'd like to use this ROM on my M2 in a Polish network and would like to use Polish language? Since both FR and PL are European countries I guess there should be no problem, but it never hurts to ask.
Thanks in advance.

There should be no problem, since I am using the same software...so far, everything works as it should. This firmware creation process is quite straight forward, anyone could do it..anyway, here is a list of available firmwares...so if there is anyone you want to have, let me know, I'll put it together
And, if possible, can somebody tell me the download speed from my Google Drive and Mega link? Would be quite happy to have that information

Nope, Sony hasn't released anything yet. Sorry
Saw it and already downloading Customised BAL 18.3.1.C.1.13 for D2403 (Aqua). Does anyone know a proper changelog?
Also, if I update now, will my root stay?
Update: It just showed up on my phone through update center.
I just installed it.I dont see any diffrence then the last one.Its even a bit slower..
D2302 newly available on costumizationsaudi arabia, try download from flashtool
What's new ? What bug fixed ? Camera quality improved ?
Dont install this rome. The phone is laggy i dont see any improvements at all.All of my apps started crashing right after i installed the rom and i installed the apps.Event the damn default lockscreen got stuck and i had to restart my phone so i can unlock it..
Im going back to the old one
Anyone else? Any updates?
Not rolling out for other models yet
It became available for D2303 in Italy today. I am going to install it soon (now I'm backing up the phone just in case). But there is not OTA update, it needs to be downloaded and installed via computer. Is that normal? I have still nearly 2GB free in the internal memory, so it shouldn't be it.

Are you sure about it? There was a rooting technique that first rooted the phone (thus modifying /system) using the JB rom and then updating to kitkat via OTA.

That's because /system has been rewritten. You must root it again. It just takes few minutes anyway.

Sony explicitly says that we may lose the warranty unlocking the bootloader. The trick is that in order to do so we must send the IMEI number, so they can double check in their databases. And they claim that unlocking the bootloader may lead to the installation of ROMs overheating the phone. Kinda slimey if you ask me. Other than BS, since the HW must self-protect itself from overheating. If it doesn't the HW is junk and deserves to be repaired under warranty.
The rooting alone (with bootloader locked) instead is an hack. It would be a bit like saying that we lose the warranty on a Windows PC because we installed Linux instead. Still, one can remove the rooting (unless the motherboard is fried or something like that).
I don't know about the mic bug either. But there is the latest KK 4.4.4 update, it's supposed to fix the bugs. Just go for it.

Good News: You Can Root Your xperia M2 With KingRoot[Lollipop]!

Now you can Root your Xperia m2 with lollipop firmware using Kingroot
download the latest version from thier site....
it also works for Xperia T2 ,Z1,Z2 ,etc[Lollipop]...
Somehow I have a feeling that it's basicly this. Lookout discovered this a day ago and now we have a rooting method already. This is suspicious

Thankfully, it is not. I already did some research around that in a spanish blog, and the exploits used to take advantage of the vulnerabilities are: Memexploit, Framaroot and ExynosAbuse. If you look at the scripts closely, you do realize they have something in common, they are built to exploit Samsung devices, for example, Mem Exploit is made to root devices such as the S2 and S3, while ExynosAbuse is made to root the S3 and note 2 (and even some google nexus 10 if I read correctly, remember it's manufactured by samsung). Also, Framaroot, even tho is a common solution for various devices (see MTK proccessors), it can also root the mentioned Samsung devices, like S2, S3, etc... (And even some qcom.)
In conclusion, nothing to worry about this time, seems (IMO) that the adware campaign is not related with KingRoot.
BTW, I just tried KingRoot, and well... Works. Nothing to complain about.
The Proof: (i did flash entire system before doing anything. before rebooting YOU MUST USE the Ric Disabler tool from the Open Bootloader Root Method)

That's the last thing you should be using to root your phone. Dodgy Chinese closed source software could contain anything. It sends the imei no of every phone it roots to a unknown ip address in China.

Now we have to manage to change KingUser with SuperSU.
Personally I'd sooner do it the long way than use that. But that's just me..

What is RIC disabler, and why use it?

I have read that rooting Sony devices make the camera worse (because it disables the image processing propietary drivers). is this true with kingroot?

RIC disabler is a tool which disables the system write protection.
So if you dont use it you cant write to /system.

It seems they need to send IMEI numbers to identify the phones so that they can apply the tested working rooting procedure on them. I'm not very happy giving it away either, but I just checked a couple of phone boxes and the IMEI numbers are printed outside, together with the bar codes. So I am not sure those should be considered private information at this point. I would be much more concerned if they sent out the address book.
Still, for being dodgy they managed to root it. That's wizardy. Or there are already some exploits available (I didn't follow much lately)?
