Hello,
I am currently having an issue with my phone where after a few minutes of inactivity, my phones loses internet connectivity
Wifi signal and connection remains ok. I can browse to the router webpage on the phone browser
To resolve the internet connectivity issue I have to disable wifi and re enable again to reconnect
After a few minutes of inactivity the issues happens again
Phone Model:
Jiayu G4s
Things I tried to resolve the issue without success are:-
- Disable power saving features of wifi
- Flash the phone completely (format + install different ROMs)
- Setting fixed Ip
- trying to access website via ip instead of DNS
Grateful if someone can help me resolve this issue, I am out of ideas
The closest thing I found on the net to my issue is from this thread for a different device:-

im having trouble connecting to wifi. my phone just hangs at obtaining ip address and then eventually fails. ive tried with many different wifi connections not just mine. all the same. Anyone else having this problem?
Yes same problem here.
It seems a general problem like the GPS.
I found out that depending of the router brand it works better (for example, no problem with a linksys).
To go arround the problem you can try this:
- go in flight mode
- activate wifi
- when you have a wifi connection (test with to browser) reactivate the phone
I hope it helps

Bring the phone back, and get a replacement. I have had no such problems with my Captivate.
I do notice that the WiFi signal isn't as strong as on my iphone's in the same area of the house though.
still not connecting.. maybe i messed up a flash with odin. i will try that again
the problem started when i flash jm5
problem solved reflashed
//EDIT: it seems my P900 is the victim of a 'strange' network configuration and nor the specific hotspot is the source of the problem.
I am sitting at work and we have a 2,4 Ghz Wifi with Enterprise PSK.
My brand new P900 connects to it but after a minute or two the network traffic dies silently.
The app wifi analyze tells me the connection is very good the whole time. So there seems to be no problem.
What I have done so far:
- deleted wifi connection from device and made a cache wipe
- completly wiped the whole device.
Nothing helped. After a short reconnect the net is back but it dies the same way as described.
Same network thethered over my Samsung S3 via Bluetooth works but that is not a good solution for me.
Any tip how to solve this issue?
I would try any method including root but afaik there is no way back to unroot and return device to vendor because of this knox flag?
Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my Wi-Fi connectivity on my N5 and it's freaking me out! :crying:
When I'm trying to connect to my home network, the Wi-Fi icon is getting orange after some random time.
Some times it gets back to white, some times it's not.
I know its a known issue but nothing seems to fix it.
I tried everything - reboot my phone, reboot my router, reboot into safe mode, forget the network and connect again, toggle into airplane mode and back, change Wi-Fi settings to connect only to 2.4 GHz, avoid poor connections, update my router firmware.
NOTHING worked!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is factory reset but I read some people saying it didn't help them either.
Only turning Wi-Fi off and than on again makes it "white" again for some other random time.
I'm running stock everything on a rooted device with Android 4.4.4 build KTU84P.
My Wi-Fi is working great with other devices in the network including a Nexus 7 2012 and some laptops.
And it seems that my Nexus 5 is connecting fine to other Wi-Fi networks.
It worked fine in the past and I think it all went wrong when I replaced my Modem.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Do you think maybe the Lollipop update will fix this annoying issue?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention (I guess it is obvious) - I can't connect to any website or run any network connected app when I'm "orange" (I know it means I'm not connected to google services).
Tried also to change my Wi-Fi channel. still not working.
Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong here?
This is really frustrating ... :crying:
Well, I'm kind of talking to myself here, but in case someone else is facing this annoying issue, here is what fixed it for me eventually:
Configure a static IP to my phone in the router configurations ! :victory:
Before that, I also tried to disable Wi-Fi optimization in the phone Wi-Fi settings, buy it didn't seem to help.
Updated from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 few days ago, ever since then I experienced some WiFi issues. Spent quite some time googling and searching for a fix, but couldn't get one.
I believe I'm not the only one, but since I updated to MM, when I'm connected to my home WiFi (which works perfectly on other devices) - each time when I open an app that requires internet connection - my phone needs 7-8 seconds to actually start loading the app (basically like internet is off for the first 7-8 secs since I enter the app).
I saw some people resolving the issue with DNSet app from google store - It did solve my issue when it comes to slow-loading wifi, but when I have DNSet turned on notifications are very unstable (sometimes I get WhatsApp notifications 2h after I actually recieved msg).
Things I tried to do in order to solve the issue:
Resetting network settings
Restarting my router multiple times (also waited ~10mins, reset it to factory settings)
Resetting the phone to it's factory settings
Checked my router settings - I can't find any settings related to IPv6 (disable/enable) - that's what causes the issue apparently
I have zero experience with rooting/downgrading firmwares, is that the only option? I'd be very helpful if someone would hit me up with a detailed tutorial how to downgrade from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 - as that's the only thing I haven't tried yet.
Cheers
* EDIT: My internet speed was exactly the same with DNSet enabled and disabled. The process between tapping on the App and start of the actual speedtest was less than 1second with DNSet enabled, but took me nearly 10 seconds without DNSet
same problem here! you find the solution @jos2?
I got random wifi drop (disconnect + connect) with my S7 in my home network, sometimes 1 time in 2hrs, sometimes 4-5 times per hour. This is annoying since the S7 vibrate when losing wifi, and make sound when conecting. I tried every solution availables on xda, android central, and didn't find a solution that fix my problem.
In my case, the issue is on the 2.4 band and also on the 5.0 band. My router is a Dlink DIR-868L, updated to the latest firmware. All my other devices, including Galaxy Tab S2 have no issues.
I tried:
- turning off Bluetooth (also the scanning in location)
- changing channel on router
- turn off smart switch
- factory reset
- ...
In last resort, i plugged in my old router (DIR-628) on the 2.4 band and got no issue, so i looked to find wich parameter on my DIR-868L is the curlpit.
So, i found that changing the channel width from (Auto 20/40) to 20 solve my issue, no drop since the last 15 hours.
Little tip: I used and app called "WiFi Logs" to monitor my wifi connection.
Hope Samsung will fix the firmware soon!
I have a similar problem with your, I will do that test tonight at home, my router is also the same family as yours, the dlink dir809 is also 5ghz.
I have this issue after Nougat update.
I already changed my Modem config with many customizations but no luck
I resetted network configuration without luck
It happens a lot and really is annoying
Wifi sleep policy is always on
Please help me
