I want to access my usb devices from normal user code. So I was hoping to change the default permissions of the usb files created by the init daemond when you plug a device in.
Any ideas or tut links? Been search the web for days on this one, getting a bit lost.
Can anyone tell me if rooting will make this possible?
I want to be able to plug my DSLR camera directly into the USB on my Xoom and download the pictures. Is this possible if I root and use the new Tiamat Kernel?
Thanks,
I don't think tethering a camera has been possible on any android device yet.
You cant control a DSLR but it might mount as an external drive. Havent tried it myself yet, need to order to right cable or adapter.
I have the adapter on the way. And yes, I didnt want to control it, only mount the CF card in the camera so I can access the pictures.
Yeah the only way I've found to accomplish what you are trying to do was to use an external USB card reader, which (assuming you have rooted and performed the USB host hack) you can plug into the xoom (via adapter) and read the CF off of the card reader. In order for the camera to connect directly to the Xoom, I believe the Xoom would have to have drivers for the camera itself (though I could be wrong, but either way that method doesn't work as of now).
without the drivers installed on my pc my camera acts like a usb card reader
Can someone walk me through how to mount mass storage? I am trying to hook up my camera so see the photos on the SD cardof the camera. I am rooted using the tiamat 1.4.0 kernel. I have hooked it up with my cable adapter and checked usbOTG, external, and sdcard2 but none of the files show up there. I rebooted and still nothing. Do I need to run a script fro it to show up?
Very cool... I'd love to see a pimped out photoshop for honeycomb

Motorola has a USB camera accessory (and pending software update) to enable PTP which will likely do watch you need. Coming very soon. No rooting required.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054636
I have read the mounting USB storage thread and followed the directions exactly but I am having issues. I posted in that thread this same question but it doesnt seem to be getting any attention so I figured i would try the same question here as its all related. I am trying to access the CF card in mt camera but i cant get the script to work.
gscript continues to give a permission denied error everytime I run either script even though I have chmod'd all files and folders.
mount -o remount,rw /
mkdir /mnt/ntfsdisk
ln -s /mnt/ntfsdisk /ntfsdisk
ntfs-3g /dev/block/sda1 /mnt/ntfsdisk
scriptor says:
couldn't set local enviornment, using default {null}
failed to access /dev/block/sda1 please check dev/block/sda1 and the ntfs-3g binary permissions and the mounting user ID
do i need to do anything from the roebeet page if i am already running tiamat 1.4.0? All i did was follow the instructions from the first post of this thread.
I was able to plug in a 2gb thumb drive and see it under the OTG folder. Still no luck mounting a NTFS drive though.
I HAVE A WIFI XOOM
thanks,
Bump for help
Would love to see this

Buy an Eye-Fi card for your camera and download the eye-fi app for your xoom. once the two are paired, every new photo you take with your camera will appear on your xoom over wifi. No cables needed.

You can find a great app in the market called "DSLR Controller". Currently only works with Cannon DSLR and requires root, but allows full control and live preview of your camera right on your xoom. It's Awesome !
Hello

Hello everyone!
This guide is to solve the otg not-working in Iuni I1 with cyanogenmod rom running Android L. Since the stock firmware does support the otg function (according to all the reviews I saw on internet) but doesn´t work properly under this rom, after some several attempts, I made it work and gonna share this with you all.
Requirements:
·Iuni I1 with cwm rom running Android L
·Root permissions (if you bought the phone with the cwm already installed, you don´t need to do anything. It´s already rooted)
·OTG cable
·Pen drive
·The following apps:
-USB host check (available at Play Store)
-USB otg helper (available at Play Store)
-any file manager that can manage root permissions and access
Steps:
1-download the apps before mentioned. All of them (including the file manager. I prefer X-plore manager since it is very friendly)
2-Run USB host check. It should give you ok on the first and third item. Click "check". After that, click "fix". Reboot
3-Run USB otg helper. Plug the otg cable with any pen drive you have plugged to it. Click "mount"
4-Open the file manager you downloaded and open the following path: //storage/usbotgdrives
5-Start enjoying your pen drive in your Iuni I1. When you are done, go back to USB otg helper and click "unmount". Well done!
Notes:
Since I made it once and with no printing, its the reason I didn´t attach any pics of reference, but following this guide you will be just fine.
The storage tab in Settings does not support the mount and unmount commands for the pen drives you may use,so don´t bother going there trying to activate it. It´s worthless.
Not only now supports pen drive, but also any usb wired device, at least I tried a keyboard and some speakers with usb plug and both worked just perfectly. Didn´t try with an external hard disk but will try this in the following days, I guess there won´t be any trouble.
There is NO RISK at all doing this.
I suggest you to make a shortcut to the path via your file manager to handle it better.
Hi Gusget,
Do you have a cyanogenmod Rom on your Iuni I1 ?
Very interesting, do you have a link to this rom please ?
I would like to test it.
Regards
Greg
Hello. No, actually its just the cyanogenmod rom that can be found on 4pda. Let me search it for you (I just woke up and am dizzy yet)
Hello Gusget,
Thank you for this info.
I translated the Ry09iu MIUI V7 ROM in french for the IUNI I1 because no way to find others european ROMS for this phone.
So when i read your message, i was surprised to know that an european ROM exist for this phone.
I have small bugs but cannot solve them as i'm not an android developer
If you want to test, the links to the rom are :

Hi all, recently I decided to give Nougat a try (again) but till now I still facing this problem: Stickmount doesn't work well with Lineage OS 14.1 7.1.2, when I mount my OTG, under /sdcard/UsbStorage/sda1 when I tap it it just say "Requested file path not found". Is there anyway to mount it properly so that I can get it recognized in other apps? I am using Solid Explorer, even it provides native USB OTG stupport, but other app cannot see the USB OTG and access it. But since Stickmount doesn't work, is there any other solution? It works great on Marshmallow thou. If there's no alternative then I might go back to MM again, because USB OTG is essential for me. I need other apps to be able to access the USB OTG too.
