Yes, off Craigslist and the person is long gone by now
Sounds like it was stolen
I was in the same situation. Bought one off craigslist 2 weeks ago and got prompted with the Google Account verification. Tried to bypass and ended up hardbricking the phone. Sent the phone off to LG and they reflashed the OS etc. It just came in the mail today and all is well. Working like a champ

hmm, that is a viable option. What did you do to hardbrick it? I have tried everything I can think of but it is looking like the icloud fiasco all over again. Total bummer.

It wouldn't surprise me. Craigslist is pretty shady if you don't know what you are doing.

I got desperate at trying to bypass it so i flashed the Fido Stock KDZ and it hardbrick. Make sure your phone is still under warranty. I sent it off to them and 3-4 days later they emailed me letting me know the repair was complete along with my tracking number. Shipping is covered by them too. I didn't have to spend a penny

If you do happen to go into download mode and flash a custom recovery you should be able to also bypass the lock.if it is gsm then you can also take out the sim card and put in a cdma or lte sim card from verizon or sprint or us cellular then do a factory reset it should remove the block

i recently broke my atrix and could not afford a new phone from at&t. i knew it wasnt a good idea but bought a galaxy s2 off craigslist for 200$. tested it with my sim card and all worked so i paid the guy. next day no data working, called at&t and gave them the imei # and they registered it and all was good for about two days. then went to make a call after 2 days of use and get a recording the device is blocked by at&t. call them and they tell me the phone was reported lost or stolen. after explaining all of this to them they gave me contact email for the owner to return it to him and a discount on a new phone. this was over a week ago and the person has not responded. is this phone garbage at this point? what can i do with this phone? i have done some unlocking, rooting and custom roms with my atrix and evo and i would like to know my options to get the phone usable .....

resetting the imei to a generic wont help either?
Did you try telling at&t you can't contact the owner? Or maybe tell them you contacted him and he told you that there must have been a mistake and it wasn't stolen just sold.
Im missing something? Why would at&t ask for/why give them the imei number? Unlike cdma, imei is not used by gsm in authentication/connection to network. But since youve given it to them i can only assume they checked it, found it dtolen and blocked it.
Im assuming as soon as u put the sim in another phone it works?
I know the imei is held within the efs, and that it can be changed on the original galaxy s2, u may want to look into that

i did, in my initial conversation with a supervisor explain that i had bought this skyrocket legitimately (or what i thought was a legitimate buy) and being that i was willing to return the phone i still feel possesion was 9/10ths of the law. she explained to me that these devices are shut down via imei# via fcc database and only the owner could in fact, turn the device back on. good side to this is they actually are sending me the exact phone brand new. also what i found odd was that his contact email is a hotmail, i would have expected a gmail account. im taking a guess that maybe he was in on this 200$ scam and him and the guy i bought it from split the money. i called the seller back and he asked me "which phone was this", telling me hes sold more then one phone. at&t is making me whole at the end of the day but the skyrocket i got in this scam is brand new and would hate to just throw it out

yes i read that sometime earlier this year or ending 2011 they are required by law to do this now. which if i had known i would have never took a 200$ chance. im still left with a 200$ paperweight. ill take all suggestions at this point and thanks for all the responses...
You could sell it to someone looking to go to straight talk, different sim so it should work.

Its a long shot but try flashing my efs fix, it may change ur imei:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611796
I should also note that its been found several times that people have accidentally wiped there imei's with the skyrocket, so i know that it can be done.
Have hope, ur phone is NOT yet reclused to a paperweight
Like someone said before the block should be only on at&t, you could probably sell it to someone who uses another carrier and clarify that in will probably won't work for at&t.

It's not blacklisted, so far so good.
Carriers don't tend to share a block list, if it gets IMEI blocked by a Canadian telco it'll probably only affect Canadian networks. That's why a lot of phones get sold for cheap on eBay, the person broke the contract, it got blocked in their country but they sell it to another country.

Anyone purchased an unlock code? Couldn't find one on eBay and don't want to risk one of those $30 fishy sellers on random sites.
Thanks in advance
I'm currently using the surpa but I have att service. I used a guy who can Force a unlock
Did you buy it new? Cricket does not require 6M of continuous service, just 6M after it was activated. I picked up a used E5 Supra and paid for a month of service. Got the Cricket app and the phone had been used enough that I got the unlock code from them for free. I know some buy these with a month of service and then put them in a drawer.
cellunlocker.net can unlock it, I purchased it earlier today. I am not suggesting there the only one but the only one I could find.

I too want to unlock my Cricket Supra that has been sitting in a drawer 2 months unopened.
Can you clarify your experience a bit more?
You say you paid for a month of Service and that the phone had been used enough to get the unlock code.
So was your phone unlocked because it had a total 6 months of paid service even though they were not contiguous?
What do you mean you "Got the Cricket app"?
thanks

I bought the phone used on eBay. No idea how long it had been used, so I took a chance and paid for and used a $30 1 month refill vs paying more that that for a professional unlock service. Once I had service, I went to the Google Play store and downloaded the Cricket app. Once I had that installed, I was able to get the phone unlocked via their code- it was instantaneous, so it must have been used for at least 5 months. AFAIK, you can't get the unlock code from them unless you have service from them.
I've since sold it, but I'm sure there are instructions on getting the unlock code on their site or the app. As I recall, you can either use the app or call Cricket.

Actually, I will give you a better link, they can unlock and get your original imei back if you lose it flashing images. You don't have to be rooted or unlocked to get there services. They have unlocked 5 g7 power from sprint and cricket. Doesn't matter where, it is remote service though, so you have to hook to a computer for it to work.

Thank you. I will look them over carefully. At first glance it appears attunlockcode does the same thing and charges only $26 with similar Sprint and Verizon limitations.
But I will check them.
I know this works haven't tried the other one. Also if you decide to use the link I gave you once they do the unlock you can flash retail firmware including boot.img and bootloader.img. When you look under software channel after that it will say reula1st. If you use the service you mentioned please let me know ifit works.

I used attunlockcode for 1 phone. They unlocked using USB. IMEI is changed. When I check IMEI at swappa.com it shows as clear but swappa shows it as a MOTO E.
On my phone in About phone it shows moto g(7) supra Software Channel Cricket Android version 9 Build number PC029 114-134.
Tech who unlocked said I can do factory resets and Updates.
I put in my Mint sim in it and tested calls and texting with pics. That is working fine.
When I powered phone with Mint sim cd, Mint Mobile automatically updated some settings including APN settings.
I dont know how and where to find contents of software channel so I can't share that.

This service is done using Moto Service. In the process, the reason why imeis are changed.
In the process, both modemst files & the FSG partitions are wiped. Which is why they get unlocked & which why many devices are getting imei repaired after the unlock.
Cheers
is that good or bad?

Very bad, they load Moto E5 efs to the Moto G7 supra to make it unlocked。
Your IMEI becomes other phone (E5) IMEI.

You don't need unlock the phone to become a lifeline phone.
Most (if not all) phone can call 911 to get emergency services, no need to pay anything to any carrier, as long you can turn on the phone, then you can to dial 911 or 112/110

My device was originally reported stolen by my brother-in-law and T-Mobile helped him out and sent a replacement device which was a different model, our dilemma started when he managed to get the stolen device back and gave it to me as he already had a new one.
The payments got transferred to the replacement device and the old one is just sitting in limbo unable to be unlocked via the app. It isn't blacklisted and just comes up as unpaid when I run an IMEI check.
Do I have any way of unlocking it? I have all the usually required info (IMEI, account holder info, etc) but all unlocking service threads are closed and I do not trust random sites or the few ebay listings I found.
I called customer care and told them that I worked over seas and needed it unlocked and they did it no questions asked.

Yes.
Your IMEI is basically blacklisted because you still owe the carrier, so you may only use the phone on their network. To remove the lock, you have to pay it off. Rooting has nothing to do with it and will not help you.

Carriers offer financing to stay with them, not act like a bank and give free interest for competitors. Helps stop theft too, phone useless except for parts.
