if I rooted GS3, will that solve PUK2 code need? - General Questions and Answers

I have Samsung Galaxy S3 from AT&T and it's 4 yrs old and already unlocked from AT&T.
Now my 8 yrs old daughter has to come back to home everytime her friends' treat her when she play at their house according to her needed.
So I got H2O Sim card and $10 for 3 months prepaid and put in the phone and activate. All are running good.
But I want to do some restriction. So I blocked all call except in her contact list. But to configure Fixed Dial Number I have to put PIN and got wrong all three times. So I need PUK2 number (8 digit) and called AT&T. Unfortunately that one was old and can't retreat that S3 PUK.
So if I rooted my phone with custom rom is that will solve?
If so, which rom is easy for young kid as well as for me to install.
If there anyway to solve that problem out, please kindly help me out.
Galaxy S3 with stock rom 4.4.2
thanks a lot in advance

because i know for a fact the phone works.

get onto tmo chat and tell them your SIM stopped working. Older SIMs only allow so many activations till they die. The new ones are good to go though

unlocking phone

Hi guys, I hope this is the right area to post this, sorry I am fairly new and couldn't find a better place
I have a samsung spica gt i5700 and a few months ago I flashed the firmware so now I have android 2.2 on it. Yesterday I changed network provider and moved to 3 (from Tmobile) so my tmobila number will be unusable tomorrow the latest. What the idiots at tmobile failed to tell me is that the phone is locked to a t mobile simcard, so I can't use the other sim. I need to unlock the phone so I asked t mobile and they want £15 and 28 days to do it - unreasonable. Walked in the local off-license-unlocking-hut and the guy tried but it didn't manage to unlock it because he said that having flashed the operating system makes things complicated and he said he can't do it.
So now, can anybody kindly let me know how I get my phone unlocked please, any guide or anybody who can walk me through the process please?
thank you

[Completed] Help with a locked Note 4

I purchased a T-mobile Note 4 via OfferUp and I didn't check phone properly. Purchasing in a parking lot, I made sure it powered up and checked to make sure it was a Note 4, but guy looked honorable. I KNOW BIG MISTAKE. Got home and found a lens on back camera cracked. And, didn't know to put my T-mobile SIM card in to check before purchasing. Called to change my T-mobile to put on my account and the IMEI# was bad & T-mobile had it locked, T-mobile said that the phone was never paid for and therefor locked. Ordered a Net10 SIM and a months service. When I got Net10 SIM, went to my account to activate. Wouldn't work! Took to a boost store and guy checked and said it wouldn't unlock. Do I have any options or do I loose my $300 and call it a monster learning experience. Its running on 5.0.1 Lollipop!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
Unfortunally i really don't know if there is a different solution in these situations, when a phone is locked by the carrier in most of cases there isn't much to do... I don't say it's impossible but yeah you need an expert here.
Maybe you can find a better help here on the general forum of the note 4 > T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!

[Help] Make Sprint / Freedom Pop Galaxy S7 Work on T-Mobile

My father recently lost his phone, and so I'm migrating his number to my t-mobile family plan. The only phone he has available is a Samsung Galaxy S7 that he purchased years ago to test with Freedom Pop. It's Sprint branded on boot up, but gives an invalid SIM with a t-mobile sim.
Model: SM-G930P
Software Version: G930PVPSBC TA1
Hardware version: Rev0.6
I've not had to be in the XDA scene for over 6 years since I'd started using Nexus / Pixel phones, so I've let alot of my knowledge slip; but I'm at least capable if pointed in the right direction.
Can someone please help provide me with a checklist of what I need to do to get this phone functional on T-Mobile? If I at least know what I have to do, I can figure out the rest...but given the time crunch of him without a phone and in need for medical reasons, I'm in a bit of a rush and can't study this model phone enough to know what all is necessary.
I'm assuming I need to unlock it, but I've never had to unlock a phone...they've all just worked between carriers for me. I tried contacting Sprint, but they wouldn't unlock it without an account. I tried some shady sites, but they seem expensive and don't understand why needed.
I'm hoping all I need to do is just figure out root access, get a recovery mode installed, flash a T-Mobile or other firmware, and bam...but I really am not sure. Any immediate help would be greatly appreciated!!
I tried contacting Sprint to unlock the phone, but they required I have a Sprint number with them. Seems odd, considering it's a federal law for unlocking now...
Well, I went ahead and just flashed the SM-G930T firmware on my Samsung Galaxy S7....and got an invalid SIM error.
Tried contacting T-Mobile, they went through a bunch and ended up saying Sprint would need to unlock it.
So now I'm stuck...and have no idea what to do next. Seems like I need to setup a Sprint account, get a Sprint number, unlock my phone, and cancel the service? That seems insane...
Was going to do a three way call with Sprint and T-Mobile, and hope somehow something could be sorted. Considering T-Mobile owns Sprint now...this just seems like hassle.
Any advice from anyone would be appreciated!
