Hello everyone
I got a Moto G 2015 (XT1550) running Android 5.1.1, unlocked the bootloader, rooted the device and had TWRP installed.
So coming to the question
* I made the default camera save location to sd card, the pictures get saved on the card and I can delete them, but after restarting the device, the deleted pics once again show up in gallery.
I know that the newer Android policies does this but is there any method to bypass this restriction ? I have tried installing ES File Explorer, granted RW permissions and tried editing the platform.xml from / Device > system > etc > permissions > platform.xml. I have added the 2 command lines as in the screenshot but everything goes in vain.

You are using the right app in wrong way.
In settings and storage select device storage as default loction.
Now open es file manager and try deleting any file on external sd card. Es file manager will ask for permissions and will show you four steps to follow.
Just follow them amd you get the sdcard read write access for all apps.

I can delete the sd card media files from both File Commander and ES File Explorer file managers, but cannot delete from 3rd party gallery apps.

add sdcard_rw to WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE. or only use app from play store to "sd fix"
or try flashing the custom plataform.xml with zip

Ok I have had this problem in the past but no one has been able to post a good solution to this, so I'm hoping this thread will fix it.
On my Xperia play stock os but rooted (if relevant) I am trying to change the permissions of an Apk file and then I plan to move this file to system/app.
Root explorer is in R/W, and I have tried this with many different root browsers, I've tried it with Superuser and Super SU. And I've tried different versions of busybox.
I had this problem before on my phone but was able to fix it with a fresh install of busybox (had to reset the software because I was dumb). However I have tried many Different versions of busybox to no avail.
I'm out of ideas at this point. Does anyone have any ideas?
Is it not allowing you tp go from r/w to r/o?

You may have partial root.
Get root checker appl and check it.

having the same problem on galaxy SIII
I'm also experiencing the same problem, but if I try to just move the apk to system/app root explorer tells me I can't because it's a read file only (in permissions it's actually all ticked on apart from others w )
I'm trying to move googleframework to system/application and one other apk so that I can use googleplay store.
At this moment I have on my rooted SIII superSU, rom manager, root explorer, titanium backup and rar extractor. Am I missing something else? All I really want is to be able to use googleplay store in China.
Please help.

Hello ..
Straight to the point, how can I convert my NTFS micro SD to FAT32 while the SD card is in the phone.. Since I don't have a reader for it..
And my laptop is currently broken so
I'm left with desktop which does not have a reader for micro SD ..
So is there a way to format it to FAT32? Or on Android?

The NTFS format SDcard is not able to mounted , but it's still recognized by android. You should be able to format it by the classic way. In the setting menu ,storage ,and there should be the option to format the sdcard.
I once format my sdcard to NTFS format , and my phone directly gave me the message to format the sdcard after boot.
Solved my problem by using AParted app from Play Store..
Unmount sdcard in settings - storage
Then used the app to make 1 partition with maximum storage allowed and made it FAT32 ..
(Saying this just in case someone ever needed it)

Hi all!!! Ok, so I have a 32 gig micro SD card in my m8 but when I try to download something to it let's say a torrent file or album zip it won't download until I switch the designated folder to internal and when I transfer music to my SD card it won't play in any of my music apps. It tells me it "can't play this type of file" It does store my photos very well. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this problem before? Is my Sd card corrupt? Is my Sd card outdated or something?? lol thank you guys

Do you have a link to the kernel thread? It sounds like you are running one that doesn't remove the SD write protection from stock. Without that removed, apps can only access specific folders on the card and they have to be coded within the app to allow it. Think sandboxed mode.
The easiest way I know to check the SD card is connect it to the computer with a card reader. Most likely it will be ExFAT, but 32GB and under can still be FAT32.

If you didn't change the kernel, try that. The write protection is a built in feature of KitKat designed to limit how much of your data an app can access.

Using the xda app.
Well lets come to your problen.
Ok i see that there is nothing as this option in sence 7.
I want to sak that.
When you install an app (not from play store) then the device asks where to install it.
If no.
Then you have to fix sd card write permission manually
Goto system/etc/permission and in permission.xml file chamge this.
Under these heddings Write external storage and all external.media storage
Add lines with media_rw as tje lines in the files under those heddings.
And reboot
