Swapping Note 4 battery to Note Edge - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This may have been answered already, but is it possible to just buy the 3250mah note 4 battery and stick it in the note edge? They're the same size aren't they? And there shouldn't be any problem with different output voltage since they're basically the same phone? I know an extra 250mah isn't a lot but its better than nothing!

want a tester? i've got both and i never thought of that until seeing your post just now. i have a replacement battery coming for my edge from Samsung tomorrow but that is an interesting observation.

I had the Note 4 before giving it to my wife, and from what I could remember the battery dimensions are the same. Just bought a note edge, and Itll be 3 weeks before she gets back from her trip so I could whip out the battery and give it a try. There's no way it would do any damage you would think

well as it turns out, the note 4 battery is about a 1/4th to an 1/8th of an inch bigger than the note edge. it's entirely too long to put in the back of the phone, though they are almost identical in all other facets. sorry friend, but i did try for ya

Damn you samsung..............................................................

Wireless Charger Module, S4 or S4 active

Just thought I would share a cheap accessory I found. This is a wireless charging module for a QI charging base. In the past I have bought alternative modules (this one) and they never seemed to work right. I would spend a lot of time moving my phone around trying to get the charge working(my wife always got so annoyed)... but this one does the trick.
I have a S4 Active and it works flawlessly, you may lose the water seal but it is worth it in my opinion. I picked it up at Tmart (here)... these guys have always taken care of me(fast shipping and so on).
Here are some pictures of how it looks, I also bought the gold battery works great and has great battery life(a little less than the OEM):
If you have never seen how this works... basically just insert the module, put the back of the phone back on and toss it on the charger. Hope this helps!

I don't get it.
Why bother with S4 Active (instead of regular S4) if you don't care about water seal???
What is the purpose of switching from original high quality Samsung battery for "gold" one with smaller capacity??? Does it have some other Austin Powers or Goldmember magic powers? Was it desperate move to get rid off NFC from your phone (you know, PRISM is watching us)?

I had the s4 and the active is much better, the LCD kills the amoled I'm and that was the selling point. Water resistance is still nice and I think if I was to drop it in water it would hold up a little better than the s4. I use the second battery as a back up so I can go multiple days without a charge. I don't use NFC much so no problem there. But thanks for your concern .
Oh almost forgot... the Active doesn't scratch or break as easy, it is a lot easier to see outside(screen)... it is what the S4 should have been... I like the hardware buttons because I don't accidently press the back button when playing games... The brush metal on the glass looks better than bubbles... It has a better build quality... Plus almost all the features of the regular S4....
How does the charging module perform through a thick(3mm) case?

Yes, now it seems quite reasonable.
I personally prefer SAMOLED over LCD, so I think it is great move of Samsung, that they differentiated Galaxy line so much, that everybody could much features and specifications set to their preferences/usage/needs.
Keep in mind, that S4 Active uses Gorilla Glass 2, while regular S4 have latest version - Gorilla Glass 3 (it is 40% more scratch resistant and 50% stronger by manufacturer's specs).
btw. gsmarena rated battery endurance factor (measures battery lifetime for average usage model) for regular S4 S600 for 69h. For S4 Active they measured 57h. It is half day difference. That was for stock batteries in both phones. If you switch S4 Active stock battery with non-genuine battery ("gold" or other questionable zerolemon etc.) this difference will be even more than half day. Probably close to one day. This is huge difference in real life experience.

Well on the s4 I have used I got scratches on the plastic easily, the active has taken everything I have thrown at it and not even a tiny scratch has surfaced. The glass is less but it is also cheaper to replaced... The lcd and digitizer is only 100 bucks which is half the cost of the s4's equivalent part. The battery life between the s4 I have and the active seem the same and I can get easily 24 hours on a charge with about 2 to 3 hours of screen time. The gold battery is perfect for what I use it for and I am well pleased. The LCD looks much better than the amoled, I had to return it because of the cartoonish looks and ugly whites personally it was a turn off. If they would just get rid of their pentile pixel layout the screen would be amazing.
Basically you have 2 types of people, some love over saturated screen and some like natural. Samsung has got both camps covered with both of these phones. For me the active is the phone I have been waiting for from Samsung. The regular s4 is awesome and I wish they had a version with lcd but the only choice I have is this beautiful active.

Note 4 v/s Note Edge Battery

Can anyone confirm if note 4 and note edge use the same battery. If different then what are the battery model numbers.
Just asking to know if we have had the option of using note 4 extended batteries with note edge, guess there is no aftermarket oem who is making extended battery specifically for edge.
Thanks

Yes, the battery are different also in the format .

I used in the past their product (for Note 2) without problem.

Very interesting.... I heard they were slightly different in size. (width I think) Are you saying this is not the case?
Yes thats what im saying. Unless the sprint note 4 has a different battery than the other variants. It fit perfectly in my phone.
Will that Mugen battery work with the Samsung flip case? I ask because they include a battery cover with it, which looks deeper than stock.
Note 4 (N910C) Battery is a bit longer than Edge (N915F) Battery. No, It doesn't fit inside the Edge either.
Have you tried it?

So the Mugen is considered as replacement battery with direct plug in? Does it require the ugly cover included? 6000Mah is quite interesting for an investment.

Is it the length, the width, or the thickness that differ. I have the note 4 duos hk model sm-n9100 which uses 3000Maj battery. The 3220mah battery for the sm-n910 models is to wide.

Doo you recommend this phone?

Thinking of buying this phone since its cheaper now and has all up to date features from samsung
Do you recommend it? Also how do you protect your screen? And Have you ever dropped it?
I am looking forward to the answer as well for myself. I've been using note 1 up until now and this is just a plan either note 4 or note edge and would love to her suggestions
I really like the note edge because its unique but at same time
It does not have known screen protectors nor i have seen any one recommend a case for it and i could not find any drop tests for it..
As for note 4 it lacks edge features of note edge but at same time you can guarntee that it will never have of scratch or crack thanks for the so many screen protectors available for it.
Could some one pls give me their opinions for the edge and if screen protector will protect it?
m coming off of the Note II and moving on to the Edge... the phone seems super powerful but i havent tested it yet... I have an unlocked AT&T and Im actually coming on here to rom it with something that does not give me 4 gigs of garbage apps that I cant use or uninstall!...
Screen wise, I barely ever got a scratch on the screen of my note 2... so Im thinking this screen will be just as reliable... but I do want to get a decent case for it... the one i have is used so it looks like the previous user didnt use a case and it has a bunch of dings on the edge that doesnt have a screen... its not too noticeable but it does show that the phone tends to fall on that side the most.
I can honestly say that the internet on this phone is kinda crappy... Im not sure if its the Rom or maybe a faulty antena.. after I flash it with a bare bone Rom I'll test it out and let you guys know... if its the antena i will be very upset.
Haha, I've actually been waiting for someone to ask these questions and I will tell you my experience...... The story starts with a Note 4. I bought one a while back because it was basically the best phone to date. I "liked" the Note 4, but I have AT&T and after having it for a while, I found myself online daily to see if anyone had rooted it yet so I could clean it up (a lot). That day never came. So I typed "Note 4 vs" in Google to see what people were comparing it to. I'll keep the story short, but some of you may appreciate the extra details. Sooo.... went for the Nexus 6, basically everything the Note was, minus everything the Note was, lol. Fell in love with the Nexus. Loved the assortment of roms and freedom to roam. But the camera sucks. It was/is one of my favorite phones, and I've owned them all. Well, I sold my Nexus because prices are dropping like a rock on them. Which brings us to...
Note edge.
Bottom line, I love the phone. I've used an S6 edge (which has faster hardware) but the actual functionality of the edge on the Note blow the S6 edge out of the water. I bought the T-Mobile edge because if I decided to keep it, I wanted to root it. Well, I used it for a couple days and I was sold. Even before rooting, I already loved it. Sold the Nexus 6 (still an awesome phone). Bottom line in my opinion, for phones in this class, the Note edge is awesome. I know there are 50 other opinions out there, but I wanted to not only share my opinion, but the story behind it. Not to mention expandable storage and removable battery.
Screen protectors: I've only used one, and surprisingly I am pretty happy with it. Considering I think the only ones they can make for an edge are TPU, I thought there was no hope because of the texture of TPU. I thought the pen would suffer the most. I bought the Skinomi off of Amazon, I swear I spent an hour reading and trying to decide. It's a wet apply, which I don't mind at all, and it was better than I anticipated. Smoother than I was expecting, and pen was smooth on it, too. I took it off because I had one little bubble and re-applied it, well it doesn't really work the second time. So they are sending me a new one free. So it has been about 4 or 5 days with no screen protector and I'm honestly thinking about not putting the new one on. Nothing beats the smooth feel of the glass...... But, as we all know, it only takes that one single time to have that scratch stare back at you forever. Choose wisely.
So there's my story.
Oh, I would also suggest finding one with 4.4.4 and not 5. Take my word for it, or do some research. I'm staying on 4.4.4 and am happy as can be.

Yeah. Reason i prefer note edge to all 2015 phones. That it combines the s pen with edge and finger print features and 2k display. Which means lots of features compared to the featurless s6. Not to mention sd card slot and removable battery could be a plus.
I see it as a future proof phone.
However i would never leave it without screen protector and i advice you not to..
I removed both the case and screen protector of My note 3 and one day fell on the air port and had a big scratch in the middle.
No matter how much it distorts screen quality its always worth it at least until you get better protector.

Well, my story is that I fell in love with the leather note series. I started with the note 2, which was ergonomically a better phone in any way(rounded edges). Note 3 was awesome, then the note 4 which I like; but the rom support isn't that great in my opinion.
Now the edge has a lower amount of xda nerds, but yet better roms(I can't go without Multi DPI roms anymore).
The Edge just adds extra features the Note 4 doesn't have, nothing more really. For the casing; I like the genuine samsung flip covers, so I bought one for my edge aswell. I don't have it yet, but I guess it will be as awesome as all other note flip cases ;D

I have the HANTON Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Card Pocket Case Front Full Cover Flip Classic from ebay and it covers the whole screen including the edge.
I love my Note Edge. At first, I was gonna get the Note 4 but I knew that I would've regretted it later because of the uniqueness of the Edge. I had played with the iPhone 6 Plus and the S6 Edge but, I don't really like iPhones and the edge of the S6 seemed like a gimmick to me. Since I had read that the Note Edge was pretty much a Note 4 with a second, independent screen, I went for it despite of the high price. I also bought the
ArmorSuit MilitaryShield - Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Screen Protector and the Verus Thor case.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The phone has all the features of the Note 4 plus all the features of an actual, super-useful, functional edge screen. I flashed a new ROM as soon as I got it, I keep installing apps, and the phone is as good as new. It also looks amazing and it doesn't have a scratch on it. If you like features, you'll love the Edge Note.
In my opinion the Note Edge is the best piece of Android hardware on the market today....with one of the worst software implementations. Especially the ATT version is a bloated lag ridden touchwiz mess that, due to the locked bootloader, cannot be fixed. The stock 4.4 version is just "ok" while the 5.0.1 "upgrade" is almost unusable by normal android standards. There are some great ROMS already out for this great piece of hardware, but if your unwilling/unable to flash one or uncomfortable with Xposed, I would steer towards something else that doesnt use Touchwiz.
I love mine.
It's got to be the nicest phone I've ever laid hands on.
Buy it.
Root it.
Get rid of all the garbage.
It seems like everyone and their brother has a factory installed app' on this thing.
BTW,stick with KitKat.
Apparently the new ROM has a myriad of headaches with it.
It kind of reminds of Windows.
The more they "refine" it,the more bloated it gets.
My RAM usage is around 600 MB with anti virus and a couple more apps' on board.
It works very nicely.
yes, 1000%. just do not get the lollipop upgrade if you can avoid it.

calls can't be answered from the edge anymore, text messages flash across the top of the screen, not the edge like it should, there is no music player on the lock screen anymore and the battery life sucks on 5.0.1. There's more, but these are the easiest to identify. If you are fine with that or have not experienced these crippling setbacks of 5.0.1. then good for you. S6 Burn in issue how bad is it?

It's been more than 6 months since the phone was released, to all the people who are still using the phone how bad is the burn in issue?
Bought Mid-summer. I can see some burn in. especially on grey backgrounds. But generally if you dont look for it, you dont see it, so... yeah... PPI grow up, burn in stays, like on s1 s2 s3 s4 s5
how do galaxy owners get burn-in? i owned several Samsung Galaxy S devices (S1, S3, S4, S6, Note 2, Tab S) and luckily never experienced it. Are you leaving screen brightness at max all the time and screen timeout at 10 minutes?

More like how the hell do you get burn in... I've had an S3, S4, S5 and my current S6 and I've never had burn in. He'll I tried to get burn in on my S4 by putting the screen brightness to the max and leaving the screen on overnight for 2 weeks and nothing...
I also have screen timeout set to the maximum so 10 minutes on stock TouchWiz and infinite back in the CM days
My sister have S4 Mini which have VERY BAD burn in, my GF have S3 Neo which have burn in too at upper screen
I use my phone extensively and since amoled screens have become brighter and brighter it tends to burn in more easily. You can use dial *#0*# and click on the blue screen and look at the status bar area. That area will always be the first to burn in. I dont know about others but i have very sensitive eye sight.
But hey, it's my experience. Im just sharing. No need to trash me with your i dont have burn in here i never had a burn in there.
Cheers.

My S7 edge is the perfect size with the best battery life I've had on any phone. Naturally I'm looking at the S8+ as a replacement, but looking at the size of the thing I'm more inclined to get the normal S8.
Only thing that is slightly worrying is the smaller battery. Which one to go for...

The phones are nearly exactly the same size with the s8+ being 6mm wider. I guess the question is are you really going to be able to tell what 6mm feels like in the hand. I doubt you will even notice, you will be too distracted by the gigantic screen lol

I'll definitely notice the extra 6mm. It's quite a lot if I'm finding the S7 edge just right.
I know what will happen though. I'll get sucked in by wanting the best model and go for the S8+ anyway. Lol
I think this new aspect ratio should be reclassified. 5.7 inch on a 18x9 is really like a 5.5 inch with extra width, not height. So for watching videos it will be like a smaller but wider screen. I guess the 6.2 inch will be more like a 5.7 inch with extra width. 5.7 in s8 is very different to 5.7 on say the note 7 or note 5.
Just my 2c

100% agree. I noticed this for the first time with tablets.
I've just seen the price of the S8 and S8+. I will be keeping my S7 Edge as there's no way I'm paying that for any phone.

There is very less probability that they will launch a flat model S8
S8+ would be roughly the same size as the Note 7, which was slightly bigger than the S7 Edge.
the battery is the worrying thing here....3500mah battery for a 6.2 inch phone?! hmmm....and 3000mah for 5.8 inch phone?! more hmmm

Seeing that these phones have similar dimensions as the s7 and s7 edge where exactly do you think they'll fit bigger batteries? Do you want another note7 fiasco?

they could make it a bit thicker....also the s8+ is a bit bigger than the S7E...and the S7E has 3600mah.....so give it a 3800mah, and the normal s8 3200mah....believe me they don't wanna make the same mistake they did with the S6, i have that phone, and everything is great except the battery, it's just bad...really bad...i have to charge it twice everyday

I'm sure if they could fit a bigger battery they would but i have a feeling they're playing it very safe this time around. As for the s6... ya it could of been a bit thicker.

I can't see it being that bad, the battery life on the S6 is complete crap and I just dont see that happening with the S8.
Sammy has to much riding on this device after the note 7 screw up to give us another one with crap battery life

if they make any mistake now they gonna get it so hard...so i hope they optimize the S8 in the battery and performance
I'm really looking forward to seeing both devices in person. Will be an easy decision then.

Exactly, they cannot afford another screw up..not even a little one
The SD835 is supposed to be VERY efficient so I think the battery sizes will be just fine.

i don't believe in these "efficient" cpu's, you have a 6.2 inch WQHD+ screen, nothing will stop it from draining the battery
