Dual booting with MIUI 7 - Xiaomi Mi 4

Using 6.0.5.0 r8 CWM recovery.Everytime I enable TDB with MIUI 7 installed and move data to system 2.All the gapps and some other apps like browser disappear from MIUI 7(present in system 2).I've tried both with taking a backup and restoring(to system 2) and also with fresh install of MIUI 7 to system 2 but even then the same error occur.
What may be the problem?Has any one faced the same issue and resolved it?
On a second note,I tried using 6.0.5.1 r11 recovery but there is no option of 'current system' present in advanced options. Why is that?

That's CWM bug. Use CWM R7 Final recovery
To get dual boot working you have to perform steps in this order.
1) Assuming you have MIUI working, go to recovery and make nandroid backup of it. (If not then flash MIUI & then make nandroid backup)
2) perform wipe/factory reset from recovery, wipe cache, dalvik cache, format both systems
3) now enable TDB from advance settings
4) reboot recovery (you will see fixing TDB on system 1, 2)
5) Flash custom ROM (only that works with stock partition) on System 1
6) boot and setup (I am not sure if its necessary to boot)
7) go back to recovery and restore nandroid backup of MIUI on system 2
I wouldn't recommend dual boot, its buggy. Makes phone slow over the time.
Better wait for MultiROM mod which is already in development for MI4

Removing Penquins in Corvus 5 + SP1

For those of you who prefer Corvus 5 + SP1 but want to get rid of the two Penquins at boot up, here is a method for Advent Vega (there might be others) -
1) Do a normal back-up with CWM just in case you want to go back.
2) Download and flash Newbe5's modded stock rom for the Vega Stockmod 1.10.
3) Boot it up to check it all works.
4) Go into CWM Recovery and wipe data, cache and Dalvik.
5) Install Corvus 5 zip from your SD
6) Boot up to check it all works.
7) Go into Recovery and install SP1 ( I usually again wipe data, cache and Dalvik, but it might be unnecessary)
8) Boot up and you should no longer have the penquins appearing during boot up.
Enjoy!

[Q] Tf 101 can't change ROM or install Clock work Recovery

Hello
I am new to this forum, I could not find any answers, so I desided to register and ask.(I am a noob in this stuff)
I have a Transformer tf101 which I have roted with Revolver some time ago (I think it was Revolver, how to check that?). My goal now is to overclock the tab.
I have been trying to follow some instructions begining with installing Clock work mod recovery, but when I start the tab with volume.down+power and than push Vol.up I get a picture of android guy with open stomach and warning triangle.
Am doing something very wrong? Where should I begin istead?
Will be very thankfull for anwers
You don't have a custom recovery installed, and don't use CWM
Use TWRP recovery
Install Goo Manager from here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager&hl=en
Open Goo Manager, tap the top right menu dots, choose "Install OpenRecovery script"
That should install TWRP for you, then you can do your vol down and power to enter recovery
Thanks, that worked!
So I backed up my System, Boot, Recovery and Cache now.(Do not need Data)
What do I do now? Should I install some custom Kernel now? I wish to go to 1,5 Ghz, which one is the most popular out there?

No need to backup Cache, Cache and Dalvik cache are basically just temp folders
Now you should find a decent jellybean ROM and Kernel and Gapps (Google Apps)
Obviously I suggest the latest Team EOS4 Jellybean Nightly #116
Kat Kernel #103 too for lots of nice tweaks and OCing ability
And grab the latest Gapps from the 1st post in EOS4 thread (See my sig for links)
1. Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
2. Wipe System (and Data if you're coming from and old ROM)
3. Flash ROM
4. See 1.
5. Flash Kernel
6. See 1.
7. Flash Gapps
8. See 1.
9 Reboot and enjoy Jellybean 4.2.2
So after wiping Cache, Dalvik Cache and System, I inserted SD card With "EOS4 Jellybean Nightly #116", went into install menu in TWRP and flashed it. TWRP gave suggestion to clear Cache/Dalvik Cache and I pressed that button too. I am not sure now which kernel to download because there is "KatKernel_103_JB4.2_Lidpatch.zip" and "KatKernel_103_JB4.2_Lidpatch_CM10.1.zip" for JB 4.2.2. Which should I take?
KatKernel_103_JB4.2_Lidpatch.zip
You're running EOS4 not CM10.1
And you'll need these Gapps
http://goo.im/devs/teameos/roms/eos4/gapps/gapps_4.2.2_TF101_20130323b.zip
Thanks for help! Now my CPU benchmark at 1,5ghz is integer=1953; floatpoint=1703 vs 1ghz where integer=1280 floatpoint=1129. Tested with Antutu. It actually allows me to go up to 1,7ghz, but I bet it is not safe.
No problem, I haven't heard of many running at 1.7, I leave mine at 1.4, seems a good mix of performance and battery life
If you goto Settings > EOS Control Centre > Navigation > UI Mode
You can change the UI back to Tablet Bar and get 100% smooth homescreens again too
I tested 1.7ghz but it restarted immediately. I missed the UI mode:good:

[NANDROID] Stock 5.0.2 (Lolipop) Android Galaxy Tab 10.1 T530NN

I am making available the Nandroid backup of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 T530NN. I searched the net and did not find this available in any format. I have tested this and it will work if installed properly. This Backup will probably work in other Recovery packages, but has only been tested in TWRP 3.0.0-0. You're welcome to re-install any Recovery you wish afterward.
Instructions:
1) Install TWRP 3.0.0-0 (Use the Matisse variant for the T530NN) and boot directly into Recovery.
2) Backup your current configuration. This process WILL wipe everything!
3) Using Android File Transfer or ADB, upload the folder from the expanded Stock_5.0.2_Nandroid_LRX22G.T530NNUEU1BOJ3.zip file to the folder /TWRP/Backup/<your device's serial number>/ of either the Internal Storage, or SD Card, whichever you did your Backup to in step 2..
4) Select Wipe to wipe the Data, Cache and Dalvik partitions.
5) Still in TWRP Recovery, select Restore to restore the Stock_5.0.2_Nandroid_LRX22G.T530NNUEU1BOJ3 package. This will overwrite Everything! You can probably get by with selecting only the System, but I saved everything to be sure to get a full reset to stock.
6) Reboot into Recovery again to allow TWRP to make adjustments to the System to keep it rooted.
7) Reboot into System. This will take you through the initial setup to activate your Gmail account and such.
8) Install SuperSU from the Play Store to complete the Rooting. If you'd rather render the tablet un-rooted, that option is in SuperSU's Settings.
I hope I posted this correctly. If not, I welcome admins to properly chastise me.

[GUIDE] Install custom ROM without computer

Hello everyone. I have come up with a lazy way to install custom ROM (such as Cyanogenmod) in *most* phone (I tried this on S3mini and Galaxy MEGA). Please note that this method moght not work on your phone and I am not responsible for bricking your phone.
Things you need:
-Your phone, fully charged
-Your precious time (About 30-60minutes)
-One click root app (I use Kingroot, download it with apk) (You may use other apps, of course)
-TWRP manager from playstore
-ZIP file of TWRP in latest version (V3?)
-ZIP file of the custom ROM matching the version of your device
-ZIP file of GApps matching the version of the custom ROM (Google for gapps and download it)
Steps:
1. Backup your personal information
Copy your personal information such as music, photo, documents out of your phone (e.g.: Cloud drive, USB, SD card). Safety first.
2. Root your phone
Download Kingroot and install the apk with package installer. Run the app and follow the instruction in the app to root.
3. Install TWRP manager
After rooting, install TWRP manager. In the app, install TWRP that match your device.
4. Create a backup for your phone
Boot your phone into recovery (Every phone have different method, so please google about this). In TWRP, press 'Backup' to create the backup.
5. Flash the latest version of TWRP
As the TWRP manager does not offer the latest version of TWRP, you have to flash the latest version by installing ZIP. The latest version of TWRP can install ROM with higher success rate.
To do this, press 'Install' in TWRP. Find the ZIP file of TWRP in latest version and install it.
6. Reboot your device to Recovery mode
7. Wipe your device
In TWRP, press 'Wipe'. Select Cache, Dalvik Cache, System and Data partition and wipe them.
8. Flash custom ROM
In TWRP, press 'Install'. Select the Custom ROM ZIP and install it.
9. Flash GApps
Most custom ROM does not have Google apps such as play stote, so you have to install it.
In TWRP, press 'Install'. Select the GApps ZIP and install it.
10. Wipe Cache and dalvik cache
In TWRP, press 'Wipe'. Select Cache and Dalvik Cache partition and wipe them.
11. Reboot your device
Now the ROM should be properly installed. First boot might take longer, so please wait patiently.
Shall you brick your phone, try to recover by using backup created in step 4.
PS: I am a newbie here and this is my first guide
While you have to wipe your device to flash the custom rom, it will wipe your data, including the actual Gapps and rom. This shows that your method won't work.

Easy steps for restoring original partition table?

To put it simple, I would need some guidance for restoring the very factory / unmodified partition layout for my Nexus 5 (32GB) model. It is not bricked. I can flash Android 10 ROMs with newest gapps and they all work. Earlier I installed crDroid: https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-crdroid-v5-4-t3931587
To make it work, I modified partitions beforehand: https://forum.xda-developers.com/go...ment/repartition-nexus-5-repartition-t3844395
But I decided to flash the original software on it. It can be successfully flashed, but it is in bootloop. I guess because of the non standard partition layout.
Thanks for the help.
@HUN_Gyuszi,
U can restore original partition table with the same script u used to modify them. Here are the steps:
1. Boot into UA TWRP
2. Flash the hh_clamor_repartition.zip from the thread you have mentioned
3. Open Terminal in TWRP (TWRP -> Advanced - Terminal)
4. Type stock and wait until your phone reboots.
5. Install original TWRP 3.3.1-0 from https://dl.twrp.me/hammerhead/ via fastboot
6. Boot into original TWRP
7. Wipe all partitions and format data
8. Reboot from TWRP to TWRP
9. Make a factory reset. The process described here https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
I highly suggest u to make a backup of persist partition before doing these steps. You can read how to do it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77661978&postcount=2
PS: After reverting back to original partition table all your data will be lost! So backup everything u need before reverting to stock partition table.
Much respect and thanks for the prompt reply, all worked.
