[Q] Tf 101 can't change ROM or install Clock work Recovery - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I am new to this forum, I could not find any answers, so I desided to register and ask.(I am a noob in this stuff)
I have a Transformer tf101 which I have roted with Revolver some time ago (I think it was Revolver, how to check that?). My goal now is to overclock the tab.
I have been trying to follow some instructions begining with installing Clock work mod recovery, but when I start the tab with volume.down+power and than push Vol.up I get a picture of android guy with open stomach and warning triangle.
Am doing something very wrong? Where should I begin istead?
Will be very thankfull for anwers

You don't have a custom recovery installed, and don't use CWM
Use TWRP recovery
Install Goo Manager from here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager&hl=en
Open Goo Manager, tap the top right menu dots, choose "Install OpenRecovery script"
That should install TWRP for you, then you can do your vol down and power to enter recovery

Thanks, that worked!
So I backed up my System, Boot, Recovery and Cache now.(Do not need Data)
What do I do now? Should I install some custom Kernel now? I wish to go to 1,5 Ghz, which one is the most popular out there?

No need to backup Cache, Cache and Dalvik cache are basically just temp folders
Now you should find a decent jellybean ROM and Kernel and Gapps (Google Apps)
Obviously I suggest the latest Team EOS4 Jellybean Nightly #116
Kat Kernel #103 too for lots of nice tweaks and OCing ability
And grab the latest Gapps from the 1st post in EOS4 thread (See my sig for links)
1. Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
2. Wipe System (and Data if you're coming from and old ROM)
3. Flash ROM
4. See 1.
5. Flash Kernel
6. See 1.
7. Flash Gapps
8. See 1.
9 Reboot and enjoy Jellybean 4.2.2

So after wiping Cache, Dalvik Cache and System, I inserted SD card With "EOS4 Jellybean Nightly #116", went into install menu in TWRP and flashed it. TWRP gave suggestion to clear Cache/Dalvik Cache and I pressed that button too. I am not sure now which kernel to download because there is "KatKernel_103_JB4.2_Lidpatch.zip" and "KatKernel_103_JB4.2_Lidpatch_CM10.1.zip" for JB 4.2.2. Which should I take?

KatKernel_103_JB4.2_Lidpatch.zip
You're running EOS4 not CM10.1
And you'll need these Gapps
http://goo.im/devs/teameos/roms/eos4/gapps/gapps_4.2.2_TF101_20130323b.zip

Thanks for help! Now my CPU benchmark at 1,5ghz is integer=1953; floatpoint=1703 vs 1ghz where integer=1280 floatpoint=1129. Tested with Antutu. It actually allows me to go up to 1,7ghz, but I bet it is not safe.

No problem, I haven't heard of many running at 1.7, I leave mine at 1.4, seems a good mix of performance and battery life
If you goto Settings > EOS Control Centre > Navigation > UI Mode
You can change the UI back to Tablet Bar and get 100% smooth homescreens again too

I tested 1.7ghz but it restarted immediately. I missed the UI mode:good:

How Can I Switch/Update my Kernel/CWM/ROM?

With the recent update of CWM/PBJ kernel I'd like to update to the latest ones and I'd also like to switch ROMs to test some other ones out. Can someone guide me through this? I've never switched before I just followed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122657), that's it(as far as flashing and such goes). I'd just like an easy to follow guide on updating the Kernel/CWM and installing a new ROM(If and when I'd need to disable Voodoo, if flashing something will reset all my contacts/apps, etc) I'd really appreciate it and thanks will be in order for anyone and everyone who is helpful :]
Info: I'm running 6/15 PBJ OC kernel with 1.8.5 Gummycharged ROM
There's not much to it. kernel and Rom can be updated in CWM.
Download the rom you want to flash to /sdcard (root of your sdcard)
reboot into recovery. If you do not have the option holding down the power button and hitting restart. Dl a terminal emulator and type:
Code:
$su (to gain root)
#reboot recovery
Wipe Cache and factory data reset
Go to advanced: Wipe Dalvik cache and battery settings
scroll to flash with a zip
choose: select zip from sdcard
choose the zip that you downloaded
once the install is complete reboot phone. let rom install
Follow same thing for Kernel. Just make sure you remember what the name of your kernel is.

That works a treat thank you.
Easier way to get into CWM: hold down Power+Volume Up+Home until you see SAMSUNG, let go, and you'll boot straight into recovery. No need to mess around with terminal commands.
Also, when flashing a kernel only (not a ROM), there's no need to wipe data.

Clockworkmod Nightly Install Script

I'm running CM7 on my G2X alongside Trinity kernel. I've got ROM Manager Premium on my phone to check nightlies. Whenever I get an update notification I do the following:
1) download the nightly
2) reboot into recovery
3) format /system
4) format Dalvik
5) format cache
6) install nightly
7) install google apps
8) install Trinity
I would like to find a way to automate steps 3-8 in ClockworkMod. I'm currently running 4.0.0.2. Does anybody know of a way to accomplish this?

You format system for every nightly? Good Lord, man....just wipe dalvik and cache...in fact, if you just use Rom Manager, and hit the options to only wipe dalvik and install gapps, it will do the rest for you.
I'm not just installing the nightly...hence the reason for this post. I'm also installing a custom kernel as well. This needs to be done alongside the nightly.
And...for the record...formatting /system is only one additional step in 8 steps and it's not even the longest one.

No need to format even if reinstalling the kernel. You should
1)wipe dalvik/cache
2)flash nightly
3)flash kernel

[XOOM] How To: Undo BigPart Repartition!

NOTE: This is for users who did the BigPart Repartitioning (probably for flashing a 4.4.2 ROM) on their Xoom and for any reason want to go back to normal.
What You Need:
-TWRP 2.6.3.0 touch recovery from @runandhide05
-TWRP 2.6.3.0 BigPart touch recovery from @runandhide05 (if you're reading this you should already have this installed no need to download)
-Your Favorite Standard Partition ROM
Instructions:
1. Reboot Into Recovery (You should have already installed TWRP2.6.3.0 BigPart)
2. Flash the non-BigPart TWRP 2.6.3.0 (Do not Reboot)
3. Tap the Home Icon
4. Wipe > Advanced > WIPE Davlik, System, Cache, Data and Internal Storage
5. Tap Home
6. Reboot into Recovery (Ignore NO OS and Ignore SuperSU)
7. Booting the nonBigPart Recovery will take a while just be patient.
8. Ignore the “Password” screen > Tap Home
9. Wipe > Format Data > Type “yes”
10. Wipe > Advanced > WIPE System and Cache
11. Tap Home
12. Reboot Into Recovery (Again Ignore No OS and SuperSU)
13. Mount > Sdcard, Cache, and Data should be checked; System should be unchecked. Tap the box next to System, make sure that it mounts without any errors, and then unchecked it again. If you've made it this far, you’re back to the standard partitions.
14. Now you can Flash your favorite Standard Partition ROM and corresponding GApps.

Dual booting with MIUI 7

Using 6.0.5.0 r8 CWM recovery.Everytime I enable TDB with MIUI 7 installed and move data to system 2.All the gapps and some other apps like browser disappear from MIUI 7(present in system 2).I've tried both with taking a backup and restoring(to system 2) and also with fresh install of MIUI 7 to system 2 but even then the same error occur.
What may be the problem?Has any one faced the same issue and resolved it?
On a second note,I tried using 6.0.5.1 r11 recovery but there is no option of 'current system' present in advanced options. Why is that?
That's CWM bug. Use CWM R7 Final recovery
To get dual boot working you have to perform steps in this order.
1) Assuming you have MIUI working, go to recovery and make nandroid backup of it. (If not then flash MIUI & then make nandroid backup)
2) perform wipe/factory reset from recovery, wipe cache, dalvik cache, format both systems
3) now enable TDB from advance settings
4) reboot recovery (you will see fixing TDB on system 1, 2)
5) Flash custom ROM (only that works with stock partition) on System 1
6) boot and setup (I am not sure if its necessary to boot)
7) go back to recovery and restore nandroid backup of MIUI on system 2
I wouldn't recommend dual boot, its buggy. Makes phone slow over the time.
Better wait for MultiROM mod which is already in development for MI4
