Which tripod? - One (M9) Accessories

I'm looking at getting a tripod for my m9 so I can take photos with long exposures without getting so much blur in them.
Have any of you bought one? What would you recommend?
Many thanks

I'm just saying..... All the hype about the camera and it's so so..... My iphone 4s still tops it. Hoping they update the focusing software.

I disagree, I too had an iphone 4s. IMO this camera is just as good, with more features. But to each his own!
Ive taken several pictures and videos. I think the camera is great and super responsive. As soon as I touch the shutter button the picture is already taken and in my photo gallery.
The zoom on it is fairly decent too.
Maybe we could use this thread for people to post what custom settings are working for them. I hear the camera needs a little adjustment out of the box.

I just wish it had hold to focus like the Galaxy Nexus (it was there in early and later versions, but gone after one of the updates). It worked very well. I like to be more in control of the focus. But the burst mode kind of makes up for it. I don't use it much but it could be pretty handy.
I love this camera as well, but I will say the focus is a bit of a problem. Any slight movement and focus is gone and it has to try again. Great for stills though

Seems like it has a tendency to overexpose especially when outside. May need to keep it at -1 on exposure.
I'm pretty happy with the speed. No shutter lag at all! The Note would have motion blur sometimes in direct sunlight.
The quality, when viewed on a pc, is very good also. Still need more time to play, but I'm a pretty happy camper right now.

I think if you turn of face detection or smile detection it wont do that as much.
Coming from a gnex I can't complain! I love this flipping phone and trust me I've owned a lot of android phones .

Ok good to see other members feel the same. Just like another member said I wish I had control of the focus.

Thanks for the tip. I noticed it kept refocusing while i already had my daughter in the center of the frame(of course three year olds move a lot)
I took about 150 photos yesterday at the Highline in NYC and can definitely say the camera is awesome. Nearly as good as my Canon S90. Have never had an iPhone to compare, but my iPhone owning friends were very impressed.

I thought my Note took better pictures, but it may have to do with auto focus and anti-shake on the the Note.

See the difference.
Hand /clam is the note.
Tote with gear is HOX.
Looks good to me

They both take good pictures. I thought the Note did a better job and it was much quicker on the focus.
I love mine

Running an AOSP ROM? Miss burst mode? Try Camera ICS+

So one of the major reasons I was hesitant to flash an AOSP ROM was that I was relying heavily on the burst mode in the Sense camera app. However, I discovered Camera ICS+, and it's scratched a good deal of my camera itch.
Is it AS good as the Sense app? Sadly, no...the burst mode seems a bit slower, for example. Still, I was able to get the picture below using it, so I'm pretty impressed. Definitely worth looking at if you're running an AOSP ROM, or are thinking about doing so.

Eye spy with my little eye...

For those who have a keen eye...quick question....
Can you tell me if the HTC smartphone in both these photos is a One S or a different model?

Looking for evidence to support answers. Thanks in advance guys and gals.
Sure looks like the gradient blue one. Pretty sure it is, but the best way to tell would be the thickness

That looks like a one x. The shape/dimensions look different. It seems wider as well. Also the bottom of the housing isn't dark like the gradient blue of the one s
Sent from a baked One S
Don't know what you are seeing, but one x doesn't come in that color..

Desire c or wildfire s ....edit u can tell the screen is amoled so that makes it pretty clear such fine it is

The width of the phone looks like a One X, however the One X obviously doesn't come in that color. Any more pics of the side or back?

Its not an S, thats for sure. Too many buttons on the side. The S only got one long volumebutton.

8mpxl Camera Comparison

I've been wondering about the camera quality of different HTC phones. I've used a desire HD, Sensation 4G and a HTC Vivid and all those had 8mpxl snappers , I've ordered a one x off ebay and it too has a 8mp camera, (camera in One x is loaded with features though) Are there any real difference in quality?
I've been using xda for over a year and today I thought why not be part of the community. So here I am,
Don't you remember what HTC kept yelling a few months back?
Pixels don't matter!!
But seriously, you should notice a huge uptick in photo quality in comparison to those devices listed. I believe an HTC device that comes close, but not to par, with our camera is the HTC Amaze 4G, a little while ahead of the devices you mentioned.
Here's the HOXL thread for community contributions of their photos, you'll find these all over XDA likely in their specific device forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639324
I'm guessing with the more popular international HOX, there's a way more active thread that you can use to aid your comparison.
Also, here's a comparison thread between the Sense camera and AOSP camera I started a while back, in case you're interested.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943160
As I have stated in various threads the HOXL has one of the worst cameras I have ever used. The color balance of the stock photo app is terrible regardless of how you set it - the skin tones are either too red at the default saturation or too gray one ticket down. There is NO happy medium, with the exception of blazing sunshine outdoors. You can make passable images if you either tweak the colors after the fact, eg with the mobile version of PS or with a photo app that gives editing options immediately after taking a shot. And the front camera is worse than useless unless you clean the lens at least once a week. I seem to be in the minority here, yet most people I would send pics to would tend to make similar comments.

Your opinion is definitely in the minority.
@OP
I've owned 2 of the phones you mentioned and the One XL camera is definitely an improvement. It does have some minor issues with low light and some indoor lights but it's still easily the best phone camera I've ever used.
The camera is good no doubt. But I miss using the image sense chip. Until there is a 4.2.2 version sense, I will not cone back. The updated stock camera app and frame work is awesome. However the generic android camera app is good too. In my opinion I think sense has the edge sense the software is built around the hardware obviously. That's just me though. But to non-photographers like me, the camera will suit you just fine and your draw will drop.

It is a chip inside the phone that is dedicated working directly to the camera. It is info right in the site

This is true. Decided to go back to sense for the image chip and other things. And I just had to come back. Not taking away from sense devs are they are awesome, but it is just not for me.
The aosp camera is sufficient enough, and unless you are a serious photographer, you will be OK.

Camera focus time(software problem?) compared to HTC One

My question is do you think the slow focus time is software and will get better? If not I'm selling my nexus and keeping my One. Does anyone else have kids they use their phones to take pictures of? I love my nexus but I can't get it to focus quick enough to get a picture of my son. The HTC One takes them so much faster than the Nexus.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
The Nexus is better at low light in my opinion and also at portraits or scenes with no moving people... I'm very impressed with that aspect, but when I'm taking portraits I have a good camera for that.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Generally the stock Android camera app is regarded as being pretty terrible.
Replace it with a store app like Focal (which should be getting an update for the Nexus 5 soon, if not already). The camera itself is great.
Thanks, I hope that is soon.. I tried using nexus at 5mp still just as slow
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Ok so I understand this is very unscientific but I have the Instagram app on both the One and Nexus... Instagram snaps photos much quicker on the one. I'm not sure focal is going to help dramatically... Any thoughts?
