[ROM][6.0][CM13]Unofficial CyanogenMod 13.0 01/28/16 - Galaxy Note 3 Android Development

Hey XDA,
I'm pleased to announce the first (unofficial) CM 13 ROM for the Galaxy Note 3... This ROM is almost pure CyanogenMod 13, with a few minor tweaks/additions, and is fast, stable, and perfect for use as a daily driver.
CyanogenMod is continuing to update their CM13 sources (usually several times a day), and as they do, there will undoubtedly be additional features added, bringing it up to speed with what's available in CM12.1. In the meantime, however, I've included a few of my personal favorite mods/extra settings, and will be adding a few more when time permits. I'm not going to go crazy with extra features, because @Temasek has a fantastic CM13 build for the Note 3 as well, that will eventually include all sorts of extras. I will, however, be working on implementing a few of my own original mods/creations. If there's anything in particular that you'd like to see added, let me know!
Also, in case you missed the announcement, @Sheradrax will be the primary person watching over/maintaining this thread. I will be around as much as I possibly can, but my time is very limited for at least the next few weeks, so please try to direct and questions/issues/comments to him if possible. Thanks again, Sheradrax.

Requirements
Any Note 3 model with a Snapdragon Processor.
Custom recovery (I recommend TWRP).
Patience.
Instructions
MAKE A BACKUP.
Download the ROM zip and the GApps zip to your device.
Boot to recovery, and do a full wipe (minus your internal and external SD, which are optional). If coming from a previous build, dirty flashing will work, though clean flashing is always recommended.
Flash the ROM, then flash the GApps.

Known Issues
In-call audio [I[does not work[/I] on the latest posted build. I'm doing all that I can to find the cause and to get it fixed, but in the meantime, if you rely on calls made via your carrier (Hangouts calls still work fine), please use the 1/9 release.

Did you read?
----------Replaced the CM kernel source with Temasek's latest hlte kernel source-------------------
That mean your N900T run perfectly fine with that kernel. Or you can use lean kernel too.
Because this rom compatible with Temasek kernel from 5.1 so Lean should be fine too i think.

I don't believe there are any 6.0 kernels specifically for the N900T yet (at least none that I could find). While building this, I couldn't get my device to even boot with the CM kernel that's included in the source. That's why I ended up using Temasek's kernel source.
All that aside, though, I'm actually using an N900T myself, and this should work on it.

I may be wrong, but I don't think lean kernel has updated their source for marshmallow yet. While trying to find a kernel that would work well enough to get this to boot, I tried several variations of the latest lean kernel I could find (CM 12.1). All of them did better than CM's current kernel source, but none of them booted lol.

Congrats, man!

Does it work ? anyone tried it ? any major issue other than file manager
thanks @Morningstar

Baseband version is Unknown,is only me like this?

Great start with 6!
Tried the ROM just now.
Have issues:
1. SIM card does not found, so calls won't work.
2. Persistent icon of extsdcard in status bar.
3. Can't change screen grid - it is stuck on 5x5.

After language choosing screen appeared.

Interesting to still see the Sim issues. Devs were saying about it on Twitter a while ago

arrow n9005 16gb

Thought you fixed the RIL issues at first, damn.
I've had my own personal build for a couple days but the broken radio, bluetooth crashes, and other misc issues keep me from using it as a DD.

Okay guys, as promised I opened up a new thread for the PA builds.
You have to read Post 1 and Post 2 if you want to use this ROM.
If you don't have time for that, use this quick solution.
Credits first:
This ROM wouldn't exist without the great work from benee and pastime1971 on CM10 hackfest
molesarecoming & D4rKn3sSyS for creating ParanoidAndroid
Ricardo Cerqueira for getting CM9 on our phone and being a great device maintainer
Thanks to goo.im, Korumera and vadonka for hosting offers
Features:
ParanoidAndroid - control each and every dpi value and layout mode yourself on a per app basis (see post 4)
PDroid ready and included
Center Clock feature
Close all button on recent apps screen
HwaSettings included - use it to disable hwa on apps which have problems with it (e.g. to fix rotation crashs on Browser/Facebook)
Transparent Statusbar option
P990 only: automatic NITZ fix for SU660 BBs
touchkey vibrations lowered as I hate the strong default ones
Warnings:
This ROM is called hackfest for a reason, don't use it if you expect something bugfree
you will have bugs - the question is if you still prefer it over a stable ROM like CM7 / Stock
don't blame me if anything goes wrong because of this ROM - be it the missed important phonecall or an unwanted pregnancy
if you have problems do the following steps
check the known bugs section at post 2
read the the last 2-3 pages in this thread
try to search your problem
still nothing? okay, you may post about your bug now!
Attach a logcat or in case of reboots/bsods a last_kmsg (see post 3).
And provide as much information about the issue as you can.
If you fail to provide proper bugreports your post will get ignored
use link 17 to download ParanoidAndroid hackfest
Unfortunately I can't and won't promise to fix your problem
please don't ask for ETAs on releases or fixes
last but not least: let's make it a friendly thread which is about helping out each other - but without dumbass posts
Known bugs:
If you got bugs with ParanoidPreferences go to Settings - Apps and wipe data for ParanoidPreferences.
2g/3G switch widget isn't working. I suggest to use the Toggle 2G/3G app as (an even better) workaround.
No bug, but as people keep failing in reading the instructions:
If any Google Apps app (e.g. Play Store) doesn't start after an update to a new build: you forgot to reflash gapps
To refresh the HwaSettings database you need to clear it's data.
The reboot at ParanoidAndroid Preferences usually reboots into recovery. No biggie, just choose reboot system and you're back in business.
Can't fix that for us as the Preferences are closed source.
Changing Youtube layout to 800px at ParanoidSettings leads to Youtube freeze
General known bugs due to our non-official supported CM10 hackfest:
Changing default keyboards (e.g. Swiftkey) sometimes doesn't stick after a reboot.
Use this method by acidreams as a workaround.
All CM9 bugs like no Chrome support, no hd videocam, scrolling jittering etc.
All hackfest bugs: no automatic brightness, wifi standby battery drain, no data usage, reboot sometimes flawky, some widgets disappear after reboot
P999: RILJ battery drain(?), no wifi calling

Instructions:
Do a full wipe if you come from a non-jellybean ROM
Wipe cache + dalvik when you come from CM10 ROM
Flash ROM + Gapps
Reboot
Don't restore system apps (like Settings) or system data (like Wifi data) with TitaniumBackup!
You'll find a new Settings entry "Paranoid Settings" where you can setup all the magic
If you want to use adb, here are my modded adb drivers for ICS.

Additionally the PDroid diffs are currently broken, I fixed them for PA.
If you need them send me a PM (will get fixed officially soon).

Some notes on providing proper logs:
To be on the safe side: Always provide a logcat, a radio logcat and the last_kmsg
Probably the easiest way for logcat beginners is to use Lumberjack
If it is a CM10 problem you should post your bugreport either at the Hackfest thread or if you know that your logs are helpful at the CM10 dev thread.
see here for further instructions on how to produce a good logcat[/url]
this is too complicated for you? well...
How to set the workspace mode
How to change an apps Layout and size
Unfortunately exactly Youtube is the only app this isn't currently working for :cyclops:
I'm looking forward to trying this. Thanks so much
Well I'm just waiting for you to give us the green light for download.
I'm loving the cute backgrounds in the first post
On topic: i cant wait to try this. Tony, you never let me down with your roms.
Good stuff right here, assuming the same kernel is being used as the other JB ROM. I didn't seen mention of this in the OP.
Okay guys, the build is up!
Please provide feedback as I (as most of you know by now) only own a P990 and am a working a little in the dark for the P999.
Some important notes:
This is using the CM10 hackfest as a base - wifi does (and will) drain battery!
Disabling it whenever possible is the only workaround.
This is the only major bug at the P990. I'm not sure about the RILJ problem some(?) people have at the P999.
No UMS support yet. You can enable it in the menu, but it won't work. Planned for the next build.
(And of course the stock kernel will never support it, you have to use harshs JB kernel then).

Well before I beging I already know who to get lumberjack to work thanks to you. But Should I go straight for harsh kernel and then report bugs or would you rather we stay on stock kernel for now?
Edit: The website is down.
Edit2: Okay is back up but where is the rom?
Edit3: Removed by request.

Went into the goo.im irc channel and the website is back up now
Delete your Edit3 please, I'm hiding the number for a reason (which you'll understand if you read the OP thoroughly).
If you're talking about UMS - I don't need logs there, I know what's missing, but thanks.
But if you run into problems I do request logs though.
Note that I won't work on the RIL, as that's too frustrating without the device, especially as I'm not really experienced with that.
djvoleur is doing that, let's hope he will succeed.
I don't care which kernel you use. My phone works best with the default kernel
(which is the one from arcee with a couple additions by benee, including the memfix dualcore zram module).
harshs kernel does work as well, so just choose the one you prefer.
If you want to use another kernel it has to use earlysuspend instead of fb_earlysuspend (ask your kernel dev).
And it should have compiled zram as a module in order to utilize the dualcore zram script.

I only know of the harsh one besides this one.
I guess I just have to reconfigure my dual boot setup to work with the stock kernel for now. Thanks for the rom, will flash soon.
The only reason for me to abandon the hackfest was having a very hot phone, does this also carry the same problem?

So strange how every p999 is different. I actually have the LG branded p999 with the brown tinted screen as opposed to the black tinted T-Mobile branded p999.
I haven't had maybe but one or two FC's since Build 1 of the Hackfest ROM. No heat, sleep of deaths, or real signal loss.
Well I just flashed the ROM, and this one's also toasty. maybe my device doesn't like this, lets see what other people report.

General Information:
This is my continuation of doing AOKP PUB Builds just adapted for the Nexus 7 Flo. PUB (Project Unicorn Butter) aimed to bring Linaro toolchain and other optimizations to the normal AOKP build. My goal is to simply continue these builds providing releases based off current code. Current builds are using the latest (2013.09) release of the 4.8 Toolchain. Builds using O3, strict-aliasing, and other optimizations where applicable.
Releases:
The target will be weekly builds on the weekend with a build during the week only where needed for bug fixes to be merged or some major change we just can't wait for
There are two Release Types
TYPE 1 is your traditional ROM Flashable zip.
You must flash gapps after flashing this ROM as it can not be included in the ROM zip.
Current Gapps: gapps-jb-20130813
Slim Gapps(needed for full Dark UI functionality): Slim Gapps 4.3 DownloadsTYPE 2 is an Aroma Installer that includes the ROM, latest gapps, and many other options. See Post 2 below for further details.More than likely any middle of the week builds will not get rolled into the Aroma.
Kernel:
I am currently building the flo kernel from aokp google/msm source (stock). It is the kernel that will be installed if you just flash this as is. This is a perfectly fine daily driver, should be stable and safe across all devices.
If you are looking for better battery life, better performance during gaming, or even just more control over various settings at the kernel level then feel free to try one of the other great kernels offered for this device. I will not recommend one, I will recommend you try them all and see which works best for you.
Installation:
Download rom zip and gapps
Reboot to recovery
Wipe cache/dalvik (full wipe when needed)
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Reboot

<*>Updated glitch kernel to 20131016-r10

Optional Inverts:
You can get inverted applications in multiple ways. First I'd recommend going to System Settings and flipping the switch for Dark AOKP.
This will invert many of the core Gapps for you. For any other applications you may want inverted, there are two great threads that will make this trivial for you:
Midnight Gapps Project
Team BlackOut
Thanks:
- faux123 for his kernel included in this aroma.
- Tk-Glitch for his kernel included in this aroma.
- amarullz for aroma itself and the continued updates
- the great boot animations by thor6577, be sure to check his thread for more!
Thanks, downloading, will report back when flashed.
Update: Really stable so far, and smooth, gonna try the Aroma one later, thanks!
:good: Thanks, i'm waiting for Aroma Link, It still not up yet i think. :good:
Finally, and it's nice too see the kernel built from aosp which means no cm drama recently.
Unfortunately it also breaks the compatibility with custom kernels like latest cm nightlies did, blue screen on boot.

Loved this ROM on my Grouper. Pumped to see it come over to Flo!

This sounds great. going to have to try it. I will assume that the posted build has the broken user profiles as this has been broken in AOKP source(at least on flo but maybe other devices) since Sep 29th. I will wait until this issue is fixed in AOKP source before trying this rom as i need user profiles.
Psyched that you finally made it over here Mr. R! :good:
Can't wait to give this beast a go. Only thing left is for Morfic to bring his uberness to the kernel world for Flo/Deb.
It's been a while since I've seen you in the S3 section, nice to see you here as well. If we are already on another AOKP rom do you think we could dirty-flash this or is it different enough that we should do a full wipe?
the Aroma download link doesnt work.

I dirty flashed from stock and had a process.acore.whatever keep crashing. I cleared contacts storage data/cache and force stopped it and haven't seen it since. Should be fine but if you see weird issues don't post them here until you try a clean flash, that's all I ask.

I don't really play with user profiles so not sure exactly what is "broken". However clicking on users did give me the process.acore has stopped message and clearing contacts storage data and cache made that go away. I can create a user profile just fine in my quick little test.

Any chance of seeing a "OneAromaToBindThem" for Flo, with all of the Aroma goodies but without the AOKP ROM itself? Loved having this toolbox for flashing various ROMs on my Grouper. (Yes, I know I could just download the full Aroma, but space is at a premium on my internal storage.)

ugh... so many things to maintain... And since I'll no longer include inverts there would really just be kernels and apps right?
I feel like its a waste to have the inverts as the thread I link to in the OP keeps them updated and honestly once TRDS got good I rarely even flash another inverted app now. Is there something else you used it for that I'm missing?

ROM INFORMATION
Dirty Unicorns (DU) is a custom ROM originally based off AOKP, but now based from OmniROM. DU brings you a great mix of stability and customization. The idea to start a ROM like this was purely out of boredom, but later turned into a form of an addiction, a good one. We began to have fun while still doing things the right way. By doing so, we received high praise from not only our users but by fellow developers of other ROMs that enjoy seeing things done the right way. This ROM will always be free of charge without any strings attached or any of it's developers luring you into donating or any form of "pay to flash".
CREDITS/THANKS"Give credit and thanks where is due!" That's something that has fuel the way we do things! With that said, we would like to go ahead and credit those individuals and groups that have made this ROM possible with their original code and contributions to the Android community.....
| Omni-ROM | AOKP | ChaOS | Paranoidandroid | SlimROMs | Preludedrew | Official Testers / Translators |
Believe it or not, we are human and we do forget things. If we have left someone out of the credit/thanks list, just PM us and we'll gladly add on to the list.
*Also Thanks to xHausx- He helped me get the SD card working!!!

On first impression a nice new toy with lots of options and settings. But I don't get the buttom lights to work. Or must they be enabled somewhere and I simply don't find where?!

Add to the OP that also the backlight bug is not fixed in this release. Being kernel dependant you should either include the commits in the kernel or make flashing of Bubba possible (you said it's breaking WiFi but I didn't test). Could be to the fact Bubba is now aligned to CM11 that moved wifi to kernel. In this case, latest Bubba that can be flashed is from 4/01 but that one doesn't contain the backlight fix
To summarize, the following "bugs" are present:
- during a call I've noticed that the signal indicator shows "no signal/no coverage" (it's an empty triangle) but I do have full signal since I am in a middle of a call and I don't have any call drops or disturbance.
- backlight bug (during calls)
- sound is low and there are small "cracks" sometimes when adjusting volume. This was fixed in CM and other KK ROMs
- hardware button light not working

Yes this is the initial release. I will work on all these fixes this weekend. I didn't notice backlight bug but I will add it. Thanks. For custom kernels I've got some tinkering to do but I believe since cm disabled module loading on kernel that's why it breaks WiFi. I will revert those commits and build with new kernel this weekend.

when I install it exactly like in OP ... when it boots up I let it settle for 3-5min and then the FC's starts... Everything FC actually. Gapps , Inspire launcher , Nova Launcher , media , acore , play store and all basically anything. I do it exactly like in OP , or flash the ROM then boot the ROM , then reboot to recovery and instal gapps but still doesnt work ... When I boot it up , it just says i have no space for anything and i cant use applications , and I have no space so I wont receive SMS ... any idea?

Hey @spezi77 you're working hard on different kitkat roms which I find them all Identical, don't you think its better to provide one stable and complete rom instead of many different which all contain problems? I'm not here to disappoint you, but I think all these roms could be converted to each other by only some launchers and tweaks. I hope some day I can use one of your very best roms.
thanks indeed...

How's the rom for you? :fingers-crossed:

True words.. no worries, it's really hard to disappoint me.
Frankly, I am just learning about Android developments and versioning while looking for the most suitable and stable kk rom for my device. I enjoy the creative process of building roms -- especially by trying out different approaches, roms and kernel mods -- and sharing the results with you. There are a lot of dev teams out there borrowing features from each other -- giving their roms quite a similar feature set (why not?). But imho there are still noticeable differences! And even if we only talk about a specific look and feel or small innovations (have you ever seen Omni? sorry for OT).
With reference to the current bugs, you should not forget that most of them are common for all 4.x roms because they depend on the kernel.
However, enough said and I guess that by now you guys got really oversaturated! I will try my best to tone it down and focus on improving what is here!
Cheers!
I have different opinion on this. I agree that quality should be in favor over quantity.
We should be graceful @spezi77 bring us many choice to choose from, and then you can select the rom you like
and be more active in that thread, then natural selection will take it course.
@spezi77 I honor your overwhelming passion to the xda community and Desire, and your next great rom.

General Q/A
Q: Why SlimKat?
A: It is a great ROM and is very well suited for older devices.
Q: Why another SlimKat thread?
A: This is my own build with parts from various kernels that I feel are beneficial to pyramid users. It most likely won't be as stable as the official builds and therefore needs a separate thread.
Q: You just said it most likely won't be as stable. Does that mean it's buggy?
A: I will not release a build that doesn't work for me. The sensation is my only device and this build will always be my daily driver.
Q: Why not work with dexter93 to make the official build better?
A: That is my intention. We will all benefit from your support and testing. Let us know what works and what doesn't. Then it can be pulled into the official branch.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enable root access?
System settings -> Developer options -> Root access
First set to Disabled (if not already) and then set to Apps only or Apps and ADB.
How do I change resolution/dpi/density?
Manual: With root explorer, edit /system/build.prop and change ro.sf.lcd_density=182 to ro.sf.lcd_density=240 and reboot.
App: Download Texdroider DPI from play store to change 182 to 240 and reboot. You can then uninstall the app.
How do I change CPU min/max speed, governors and IO schedulers?
Manual: With root explorer, edit /etc/init.d/89kernel init script (setting options are in the script).
App: Download Kernel Tuner from play store.
How do I submit a bugreport?
See the Slim website instructions here. Attach the report in this thread.
What firmware/radio should I use with this ROM?
For TMOUS try: 3.32.531.14 which comes with radio 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2
For non-TMOUS try 3.32/3.33 firmware and corresponding radios from: firmware and radios
Tips/Tricks
If you use google apps, install the biggest package that you need. You want to do this because those google apps will be installed into /system. I've seen many users talk about wanting the smallest gapps they can have and then downloading just what they need from the play store. This is not a good approach for our Sensation because we have a very large /system partition and a very small /data partition (by today's standards). So, a better approach would be to get the *full* gapps package and either remove the apps that you don't need or disable them.
Odex your /system apps. This will free up quite a lot of space in the /data/dalvik-cache folder which again will give you more room for apps. There are many odex scripts available on XDA to choose from and probably even some apps in the play store. You can also try out my flashable zip here (md5sum: 04320206ec11669b2da2f5340bb647f2). Flash it after flashing GApps.
Known Bugs
Battery calibration issue on first boot causes charging to stop at 90%. Charging is normal after reboot. (Appears fixed now)
It has been reported that some bluetooth devices will fail to connect.
It has been reported that some VOIP apps will not work (Line/Skype).
It has been reported that call recording apps will not work.

Good features! Thanks mate!
^^Hello, fellow Minchanin.
Xda: devdb? What does that green banner mean?
Are there any collaborative efforts between you and dexter?
Hello,
First off many thanks for your great work & contribution!
I would need S2W or a similar feature as the "Volume Rocker Wake" feature does not work in Slimkat. Would you have any recommendation for a custom kernel that I could flash that has such a feature?
Thank you.
what about cpu undervolt? is it working on this rom?
For sure, just tested this rom and its absolutely fast! With Lionheart governor and Sio I/O scheduler. But one question @LordNerevar, which option is the best for Multi-Core power savings?

Sultan's kernel had S2W for awhile but it caused lockups/reboots. I'll see if I can find why the Volume Rocker Wake doesn't work.

Thank you. Let me outline what has happened so far: Clean install of Slimkat (v7.9) with a formatted SD card and the system fully wiped. "Volume Rocker Wake" is enabled, however, only works for a few seconds after the screen has turned off. It also works perfectly when the phone is connected to a USB charger.
Occasionally the wake function would work even when the phone isn't charging, but this happens fairly randomly, no obvious pattern.
First of all, great rom!
Feels smooth and a lot of features.
But....... what about the resolution?
statusbar clock and such is really small, icons in appdrawer too, it almost looks like the resoltion is set to high.
When using google stock launcher the icons are normal but statusbar is still much smaller then the stock rom.
Is this changeable?

Ruben

simply change density in build.prop to 240
Alternatively use TexDroid to change DPI to 240.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texdroider.texdroider_dpi&hl=de
You need to grant root access in order for the tool to work.
Thanks for answering questions everyone! I've started an FAQ on the OP for the ones I've seen often on the Official SlimKat ROM thread.
I was able to fix the volume rocker wake bug in the kernel. It's working for me with and without a secure lockscreen enabled. Try it out if you need it. That along with all the 8.2 goodness from the Slim team is available in the 2nd post.
No way... Thank you very much! I shall give it a try tonight. I am very excited!
Just out of curiousity... What is a bug and if so what exactly was the problem?
Also would it make sense to report this back to the Slim Team, so they can fix this as well? I have seen other posts that report similar problems.
Thank you for you great support!
LordNerevar, your latest version fixed the volume rocker issue. Even better I did not have to clean-install, I simply upgraded from Dexter93's version 7.9 to yours and my phone works perfectly. I am more than happy and this has breathed new life into my old Sensation. Thank you very much!
Perhaps you can join forces with Dexter in that you let him know how you eliminated this bug?
Good job!
Upon closer examination of the code, I found that you can actually set /sys/keyboard/vol_wakeup to 1 and enable Volume Rocker Wake under Settings->Display as normal. This should even work with the Official versions. I will add this ability to the 89kernel init script.
Thank you, LordNerevar. Guess that is the fix I have been looking for. I never noticed that file.
Interestingly mine is still set to zero, but volume wake works nonetheless with your latest version.

That's correct. My latest version bypasses the need for that file. However, that file does serve a purpose and I was actually going to implement it when I found it already available. The purpose is that if you don't want volume rocker wake, having that tunable will keep the phone in sleep mode if the volume buttons are pressed. Without that file or with that file bypassed, if you have volume rocker wake disabled in display settings the phone comes out of sleep mode and just doesn't turn on the display.
So, with my next version you will need to enable the setting in 89kernel and in display settings for it to work.
