You need to purchase the code from the carrier. Every phone has a unique unlock code.
I haven't heard of any free unlock methods but if you find one let us know

Or wait for a few months. In France, the legal time is three months after the purchase date I think. Passed this time, your carrier must offer it for free.
Check what the law says in your country.

Please Help: Unlocking Blackberry 9300

Are there FREE alternatives to getting an unlock code for the phone other then your provider?
I requested an unlock code from T-Mobile and they said it would be in within 24-hours. I updated my listing (selling the phone on e-bay) to say it would include the unlock code....then I get an e-mail back from T-Mobile saying:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock Request. Unfortunately, this subscriber is not eligible to receive the unlock code at this time. In order to be eligible, the subscriber must complete 40 days of active service. Please submit a new request 40 days after this subscriber was activated.
Thank You,
Sim Unlock Department
T-Mobile USA, Inc."
So I'm kind of in a bind now.
Any advice would be great.

I'm strongly recommending getting the unlock code from BlackBerryMEPdotCOM , these guys are reliable.
No one can give you unlock code for free. and dont try to enter incorrect unlock code. because it will block your blackberry. if you want to unlock your blackberry only use trusted sites. order your Blackberry unlock code from blackberrymep.com this site charge very reasonable price.

[Q] How does unlocking a phone by IMEI work nowadays?

There use to be free unlocking calculators for the old phone models. But it seems that it's impossible to unlock a modern phone for free. What I don't understand is how it works nowadays. You have to send the IMEI to a reseller, then wait for days (1 to 5) to get your code back.
I thought that smart hackers were profiting from their own unlocking calculators, created by themselves, but it seems that the delay getting the code is because some databases have to be accessed. And depending of the company that locked the phone that could be harder and more expensive to do.
So, how does it really work? Who are the original sellers and unlocking code creators?
Thanks!
Wish I could help.I'm also having to wait for my unlock code tio be sent.all I did was call up t mobile and asked about unlocking.have them the imei.they sent it to samsung and now I'm waiting for the code for my vibrant.it was all free.

What do you mean "they sent it to Samsumg"? Is there a way to cheat companies to unlock their own phones?
Phones are simlocked to inibith usage of other sim cards different from the one of the operator that gave you the phone: on this we all agree BUT in all the countries it's possible to unlock the mobile after a definied time, in italy for example is 9 months under payment and 18 months for free after purchase just going to your operator: many people don't know this really simple mechanism.
Here is the function of giving them your IMEI code: the algoritmh, specific for every operator, use your IMEI to calculate a number that must be the same that is written inside your phone: that's why they ask for IMEI and OPERATOR

But is the algorithm really known or do unlockers get the unlock codes using insiders that work for the operator company? So this workers would illegally pick code by code from some database since they have to have the unlock codes in order give them for free after X months anyway.
Think they just use software generators.... nowadays also Windows versions and software that costs millions went leaked...

but basicly if someone would manage to flash his IMEI with other from completely different phone he no longer uses would it do the job?
I had the same problem with my old Samsung Jet, they wanted me to send it to them over a 30 day period costing me £25!
If you get the paid unlock code means the code provider get the Code from the particular Network Data base,...so it's Legal one...Then in free code generator the calculators generate the code,but the code generate by the program so it generate default codes.....I got the code for Unlocking the Phone from Network lock quickly and free of cost,i got the correct free Unlock code for my Nokia,Samsung Phones at here www.unlock-free.com and Unlock it........
I believe the reason that calculators are no longer possible is due to the fact that the manufacturer/provide uses random algorithms to generate the unlock codes, and are not based on the IMEI. That is, the unlock code can only be found in their database as they did not use the IMEI as part of the algorithm to generate the code in the first place; hence there is no way to reverse engineer them for newer/more common devices.

False. If this was true, then any hacker... anyone could do this. All unlock codes are based on your IMEI and phone model (carrier,country,etc).

Believe me, it's not as easy at it seems to get SIM unlock codes. Your best bet is to find either a trustworthy site online, or call your provider and tell them you're travelling internationally and you need to change SIM cards... they may charge you but it only needs to be done once. However, if you have patience eventually someone will write an app to do it for free. But that could take months, even years. I'm currently trying to figure out a way to unlock mine without doing either of the methods outlined above and I've spent days researching this and I still am not much closer...

Try here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f88/
well this is my understanding the unlock code database will be having 2 primary keys 1 will be the IMEI number and another one is the key which will be used for generating the unlock code which is unknown to the outside world.
so when some one request for the unlock code the service provider, (either the phone company or thirdparty) have to refer thru this 2nd key for generating the key but since the key generation is done from the manufacture end the database is acting like a blackbox.
-cheers
just get your imei off the web to save you from millions of copies that are likely coming up
hello, some time before I digged into SONY unlock, my conclusion is that it's impossible to brute force or you really need an insider in that company.
// STEP:
// t = NCK + SALT
// h = sha256(t)
// 9.times { h = sha256(h) }
// assert(h == HASH)
// IMEI: 353588050129**7
// NCK : 647765421762**43
SALT and HASH are programmed in trim area, and don't know how to calculate those two, only way is to get the phone and extract them.
I always thought that codes were pre calculated when phones are manufacturered.
I know for some phones the ROOT AWAY app (on samsungs) takes off the sim lock.
@tewilove, your finding is sony-specific or docomo-specific? As you know the same Sony models is sold in Japan by a different operators - Docomo, Softbank and KDDI. But always with a sim lock.
With root we could read the whole TA, so we could calculate unlocking code? What do you think?

If they don't use the IMEI, then why do the unlockers ask for it? There should be no need for it if that was the case, unless, it's just to verify your phone model or something?

Unlock Nokia 7230?

Hello guys, i have a question i already search about that in google but its seems that all the sites who provide codes its payd service and some of them ask for 30 35 Euro i think is redicilous.
The situation is like this, one Girl friend of mine have a Nokia 7230 Locket by the Provider to work only with this provider sim cards, so this mean that the phone can be Unlocked without cable and etc just with Code, so She pleased me to unlock it.. but how to explain to her she need to pay alot for unlocking etc.. so if someone here know what i can do to make her favor.. because is friend please let me know
The specific IMEI of that phone is : MOD EDIT: REMOVED IMEI
I know that Unlocking code can be generated with the IMEI because every code is unique so if anybody wana help me with this will be great.
Thank you in advance !!!
I know that there is not free lunch But i cannot ask her for money and i don`t thik i need to pay for her phone on the same time Cmon this is a CODE we are Comunity here im sure someone know how to get this
Hi.. I had checked for free service for unlock your friend's mobile. But Sorry there is no free service for unlock your nokia 7230. But you can get codes from many online providers. According to me Mobileunlocksolutions.com is a good service provider for unloking mobile in market. If she wish to unlock, she have to provide the country/network it is locked to and correct IMEI number. Tell to your friend that you have to pay and there is no free service like that. And in free service they gives you a list of codes but 5 times only you can try the codes. If your phone didn't get unlock with that code means, your mobile will get hard lock. After that your mobile won't accept any codes. Tell those information to your friend. After that if she wish to pay for unlock means you just tell to try the above mentioned site. I hope this information will be helpful for you.

Just call tmo. Your code might be wrong one.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I'm not a t-mo customer, and I don't live in the US..
Try to order another code from a reputable seller and check to see if they are the same. If it is the same, you must have either read the IMEI wrong or enter it incorrectly. If it is not the same, you can take your last chance try to unlock it...

I bought mine on eBay from this seller and it worked fine
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=260776518349
It was $10 back in may when I bought mine and it looks like it's only $3.20 now. Like I said mine worked fine. Your mileage may vary.
Get back to the person you bought the code from and have them double check it. If you hard lock the device you will never be unable to unlock it. You have to make sure the IMEI is correct by doing *#06# and enter your unlock code super carefully. How many times did you enter the wrong code? LG gives you ten unlock attempts. Why do you only have 1 attempt left? If you want a code fast I can help you get one for $6.00 (cheaper on eBay). Make very sure the next code you try is correct and enter the numbers very carefully.
There is NO reason you have to buy a unlock code.
Cell providers in the USA HAVE too provide you the unlock code, it's the LAW.
They email it too you within 24 hours.

I'm pretty sure there is no law requiring that in the USA. T-Mobile will do it for active account holders. I think you have to have had your account in good standing for a certain number of consecutive days or something. But I don't think there is any law requiring it.

It is lawful to unlock your phone, but there is no law that I know of that requires a carrier to do so. In many cases they will provide you with the code if your case meets their criteria.
Here is T-Mobile's policy on the matter

Actually I've double checked the code that I gave them, and it still does not unlock.
I tried multiple roms, and this is why I have only 1 attempt left.
Think you can help me with the unlock code ? I can give you the code I've tried, and you can see if you have another one listed.
Edit: I've called t-mobile, and after talking with them for 20 minutes, they said that I can ask a "friend" which has a T-mobile account with prepaid and active for over 60 days, which could ask for the subsidized unlock code for me..
Any volunteers ? (It should "cost" you only a call to them..)

Yes but you would need to send me $6.00 by PayPal for me to get the code for you. I would need your IMEI also (triple checked). Then you can see if the code from my source is the same as the code you bought already.

Most providers will give you unlock codes these days. In my experience they're normally free but you have to wait a few weeks to a month. (That may vary from provider to provider).
Try this link: http://www.motorola-unlocking.com/unlock_Motorola_i890.html
most phones with locked carrier sims can be unlocked with a simple unlock code that you enter when you place a "not allowed" SIM in the phone.
You do have to pay for this usually as the unlock companies have a database of codes that are linked to the IMEI number of the phone. I can't say that one unlock company is better than another but they all basically do the same thing
Sometimes if you are out of contract a carriers will provide the code free of charge or for a small fee as they are required to provide a way to unlock your phone
Thank you for all.
Maybe someone have a keygen or code maker..... because the payment code isn't for me.... Need more money))) XD
