Are there FREE alternatives to getting an unlock code for the phone other then your provider?
I requested an unlock code from T-Mobile and they said it would be in within 24-hours. I updated my listing (selling the phone on e-bay) to say it would include the unlock code....then I get an e-mail back from T-Mobile saying:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have received your SIM Unlock Request. Unfortunately, this subscriber is not eligible to receive the unlock code at this time. In order to be eligible, the subscriber must complete 40 days of active service. Please submit a new request 40 days after this subscriber was activated.
Thank You,
Sim Unlock Department
T-Mobile USA, Inc."
So I'm kind of in a bind now.
Any advice would be great.

I'm strongly recommending getting the unlock code from BlackBerryMEPdotCOM , these guys are reliable.
No one can give you unlock code for free. and dont try to enter incorrect unlock code. because it will block your blackberry. if you want to unlock your blackberry only use trusted sites. order your Blackberry unlock code from blackberrymep.com this site charge very reasonable price.

Two ways:
1-Call T Mobile and ask them nicely to give you the code....if unsuccessful at first hang up and try again.
2-Go to EBay and search for a seller with a good background and get it from them.

Hi, Just contact T-mobile service. Sure they'll help you to unlock your mobile. Else get an unlock code through online service.. To get code you need to provide your mobile's IMEI number, country and network it is locked to. If you wish to get code through online service means, i would suggest you to get unique unlock code for your HTC Wildfire through SuperUnlockCodes.com at affordable price. So I'm heading to Scotland in May on the 20th and was hoping to unlock my new Sidekick 4G before the trip but it seems Tmobile has not updated their systems with the proper unlock codes for the newest device. Samsung has agreed to help me but I need to provide them T-mobiles NCK or Network Control Key. After trying to take to T-mobile to get the key they simply tell me they cannot provide it and will simply input my request to unlock.
Has any one had any luck yet unlocking this or maybe know the NCK that I need to have Samsung do it for me?

I'm no expert at unlocking phones, but gutty posted a suggestion: this thread.
It may be possible to do it this way, but I wouldn't be for sure. On the sk4g, the nv_data.bin is located in /efs/root/afs/settings/nv_data.bin
Yeah, if someone could attempt the process at the above mentioned link that would be great. Your other option is to use a third party to unlock the sidekick. unlockallcellular.com is supposed to offer an unlock.
My sidekick will be arriving this week, from the States, so hopefully an unlock will be coming soon. If not, I will try the third party i mentioned and report back if it works.
I don't mean to thread jack, but does anybody know if this phone will be on any other carrier other than T-Mobile? I have AT&T, and I want to get it, but I also want the 3g to work also...
i tried the unlock process... no luck tried to get code from unlock freedom also no luck i need the phone unlocked asap because my gf leaves the country in 2 weeks.

Its Totally unlockable by code!
BUT you will need to get the code from "Samsung manufacturer" method rather than tmobile. Tmobile database will not have the NCK code.
Try cellunlocker.net , but it can be pretty pricey to unlock that fine pie of machinery

So just wanted to update everyone whos wondering I contacted T-mo a 2nd time after not hearing anything for a week. They re-submitted my request and within 48 hrs I had my unlock code and did the deed with no issues. Hope this helps those in need.

Do you just call customer service and ask for an unlock code?
YES Tmobile will give you the unlock code for any phone on the following prerequisites
1) that is was used on a Postpaid LINe simcard for a week
2) you fax them the receipt that you bought any tmobile phone unlocked
this is how i did it with my LG Optimus T i got last easter prepaid at $158

Order was placed, 5/3/2011, received my code, 05/12/2011. Worked fine.
I was a bit upset with the turnaround time, but they blamed T-mobile's database for that.
So, if any of you are unable to have T-mobile unlock the device for you, the company above, can do it fine.

If you bought yours from the T-Mobile store like me, they said I had to wait one week before they would give me an unlock code.

Sure, you could do that, or actually go to the store, but the reps pissy for doing what they are supposed to do. Its all up to you.

Thanks. I actually had to drive quiet a ways to the tmobile store because we dont have one in town so Im hoping it doesnt have to come to that.

Hello guys, i have a question i already search about that in google but its seems that all the sites who provide codes its payd service and some of them ask for 30 35 Euro i think is redicilous.
The situation is like this, one Girl friend of mine have a Nokia 7230 Locket by the Provider to work only with this provider sim cards, so this mean that the phone can be Unlocked without cable and etc just with Code, so She pleased me to unlock it.. but how to explain to her she need to pay alot for unlocking etc.. so if someone here know what i can do to make her favor.. because is friend please let me know
The specific IMEI of that phone is : MOD EDIT: REMOVED IMEI
I know that Unlocking code can be generated with the IMEI because every code is unique so if anybody wana help me with this will be great.

Hi.. I had checked for free service for unlock your friend's mobile. But Sorry there is no free service for unlock your nokia 7230. But you can get codes from many online providers. According to me Mobileunlocksolutions.com is a good service provider for unloking mobile in market. If she wish to unlock, she have to provide the country/network it is locked to and correct IMEI number. Tell to your friend that you have to pay and there is no free service like that. And in free service they gives you a list of codes but 5 times only you can try the codes. If your phone didn't get unlock with that code means, your mobile will get hard lock. After that your mobile won't accept any codes. Tell those information to your friend. After that if she wish to pay for unlock means you just tell to try the above mentioned site. I hope this information will be helpful for you.

You need to purchase the code from the carrier. Every phone has a unique unlock code.
I haven't heard of any free unlock methods but if you find one let us know

Or wait for a few months. In France, the legal time is three months after the purchase date I think. Passed this time, your carrier must offer it for free.
Check what the law says in your country.
