Note 3 downgrade from v5.0 to 4.3 or solve overheating problem - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys, I am using note 3 N9005, the android version is 5.0 lollipop version. My note 3 got overheating and battery fast draining problem. The maximum temperature that happen last time was until 68 degree. I turn off many application already which is chaton, yahoo finance, s health, etc. But the phone was still very hot and the battery was draining very fast.
I think the problem was come from the android version.... So last time I had tried to use Odin flash the v4.3 to my phone, the result was my phone get soft brick, struck at the CAUTION Logo. It can used after i flash v5.0 back to my phone, but I cannot downgrade to v4.3. T^T
So, I need somebody to teach me downgrade android version from 5.0 to 4.3 or solve the overheat and battery fast draining problem. Thank you very much !!!

SM-G920F freezes and constant reboots out of the blue

Hi all, first post here, as a brief introduction... I have bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 a couple of weeks ago and recently it has been a constant pain in the.... mind
Currently I have G920FXXU2BOFJ Baseband and it constantly crashes, even without doing anything. The crashes/reboots are completely random and very annoying. I have tried to update the firmware to a latest version from France (which had some updates for Android 5.1.1, file name G920FXXU2BOG8_G920FOXA2BOG8_XEF) but the problem persists.
Trying to revert the firmware to the original I made a mess so I'm currently using Smart Switch as I write to recover the phone from the dead. Any ideas on how to solve these freezing issues? Anyone else having them? I thought it was a hardware problem, but I can leave the phone in Download Mode for as long as I want without issues (not very useful as a smartphone that way though ) However, even in the Wipe Data/Cache mode it still freezes.
Thanks!
TH1AG0
Reflash with new updated French 5.1.1 ROM via odin.

N9005 Battery life SOLVED once and for all

That's right, I have solved the unsolvable
I had very poor battery life, worse than on my old Note 2 (and I was on custom ROM and kernel, cpu running 1,92 Ghz and GPU highly OCed)
I tried stoping Samsung Apps, Unified Demon(EUR), turning BT, GPS off, brighteness down
I tried deleting cache partition
I tried Factory Wipe + deleting cache partition
I tried GSAM app and Snapdragon BatteryGuru
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING worked...
System Android + Core System was always draining battery the most
and then I tried to flash newer ROM with ODIN and faild miserabely (briked the phone LOL :silly: it was turning on only to Download Mode ) then tried different ROM and faild again
Lastly :fingers-crossed: I flashd the same ROM I was on before which is: N9005XXUGBOB6 and GAME ON, SCORE, WIN BOOM all is fine in the universe again and battery is lasting as it should last !!! :victory:
OK the important thing here (I think) is to flash the ROM by ODIN. Previously Lollipop was installed by OTA and IMHO it is somehow buggy method and screwing the battery life.
Enjoy and let me know if it worked for you too.
Im afraid you havent told us anything new. I remember D4 of 4.4.2 being the most battery efficient release, but no release has been the same for me battery wise. There are releases where i got 2 days of battery with 4 hour screen time, and a single day with 2 hour screen time.
We never know wtf happens on those sammy roms tbh. Root seems to help in a few cases, but that's not a solution for all of us.

I hope I fully understood all your steps and will try this myself today^^ Thanks anyway for sharing your experience!
You don't need to take all the steps I just wrote that for the story.
Just download the same rom which is already on your phone from sammobile.com and flash it via Odin and that's it.

HTC One E8 bugs

Up until about a week ago, my HTC One E8 dual sim (M8SW - China Unicom) had been working perfectly, albeit only running android 4.4.2 as unknown to me when i bought it, it had been rooted and TWRP/Super SU installed (I assume because I'm in Australia and it's a chinese phone... ebay purchase...)
I'm not entirely sure why, but the battery life is now draining literally about twice as fast, and the google play services app seems to be using up a fair amount of the battery. I've tried a few apps (google services fix etc) to try to amend the problem, and have completely reset the phone, but haven't had any luck.
Just wanted some thoughts as to whether upgrading the phone to Android MM would fix this?
I've attempted to do so, but because my phone is rooted I can't get OTA updates. the other issue I have is that I can't get a copy of the stock recovery (the link provided at http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/help/htc-one-e8-mid-cid-ruu-ota-twrp-t2903210 does not work...) and I believe I need to install the stock recovery to get the OTA updates. I'm not confident enough to try and install a custom rom and I have no issue with HTC 'bloatware'...
very much a rookie, but would appreciate if anyone is able to help as the phone is great and I'd rather not fork out the money for a new one just yet...
thanks
Hi there! I also bought a M8SW and also from eBay with the ROM in bootloop mode where the previous owner attempted to put in another ROM but failed but that's another story.
Not sure what's wrong with your phone battery drain but I initially finally got stock LP on mine and the battery life was good.
When I saw the MM update, I jumped on it straightaway but struggled to get OTA working as my initial LP was rooted with xposed hence my little journey to get back to stock LP and then OTA to MM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/general/tedious-update-m8sw-to-marshmallow-twrp-t3346318
I would say that MM seems to maybe drain the battery faster than LP but tbh, I love the super smooth stock Sense. Only thing to watchout for is that xposed on MM is not fully working for all the modules. That was nearly too much for me but I have stayed with MM with xposed with N-ify, Amplify, XNotifications and SenseToolBox - all semi working for the bits that I need.
My battery lasts for at least 2 days before I need to charge it. My typical usage is low: WhatsApp, twitter, FireFox and occasionally Music, News Republic and VLC to watch videos.
The E8 still cuts it I think. I don't play any games on it and recently I am using so called Sense8 HTC10 ROM which is pretty good - definitely recommend it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/development/s-team-e8-s4-20-2x-ported-htc-10-sense-t3364650
I'm pretty keen to get a stock version of MM on the phone - provided I can get this issue sorted the phone will last me another year or two at least.
By the sound of things, if I want to get the stock version of MM or LP on my phone, I'll need to convert it to the European model?? is that an easy thing to do? I assume it's just installing a different ROM??
Alternatively, if I download the ROM you provided the link to, I should be able to install this onto my phone and have MM with this different version of sense?
thanks for your help!

[Completed] My Note 5 Extreme Battery Drain on Marshmallow and Can't Downgrade to Lollipop

I been having an awful battery life....my android OS is usually 30-50 when idle and android OS 100% when fully charged.
I didn't do anything with the phone for 3 hours and yet it drained 30% battery. I try downgrade back to lollipop but it turns out that the new software update restricted me from downgrading the software. The reasons are unknown to me. Having VoLTE on doesn't do much battery drain on my other xiome phone.
I disabled most bloatware using PRO DISABLER TOOL and disable location and location history. My display is set to 50% all day without turning on the auto brightness but still battery lost when idle.
When i try to downgrade to lollipop, odin failed and the error was hidden.img. I search for solution on the web. Using method of extracting and deleting the hidden.img before i flash again but still failed. I'm in a loop right now dealing with this software issue.
I'm using a Malaysia Carrier XME built. Galaxy Note 5 Duos (SM-N9208)
I really need help in :
1) can I downgrade back to lollipop and if can, HOW ?
2) if i can't downgrade back, can you guys help me in dealing my battery problem.
Thank for helping me and other people who has the same problem as me...TQ XDA

Greetings and welcome to assist. The error message from odin is because you are trying to install a firmware from a different carrier, the csc file is probably too big which means eithet use a fitmware with a pit file included or try and find a firmware for the carrier the phone was shipped with.
Too fix the battery drain I would first try wiping cache and davlik/art cache and if that didnt work factory reset. You could also install better battery stats and see what is causing the drain, why not create an account and ask here

[G930FD] Seeking help for battery drain in Oreo. Many thanks

Phone: G930FD
ROM: G930FOZS5ESG5
Maybe this question is asked by many guys here. I follow their instructions to reboot, re-flash via odin and factory reset for the phone. Nothing improvement.
I see the update for the ROM for ESL9 in Jan 2020. However, root is must for my daily use so I worry for the lost of my root after upgrade and the process is irreversible since the BL will be upgraded.
The android system battery drain is 30% for 8 hours during my sleep. The phone is also hotter in normal use (chat and web browsing only, no Youtube or video watching) when compare the ROM in android 7.
Any helps? I still dont want to buy a new phone as Samsung really want us to buy !
It never happens in android 7.
Great thanks.
