APP to remove system apps from android 6.0 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I used to use rom tool box pro to delete system apps. But it doesn't work on 6.0, anybody know of a app that does it? Thanks in advance

Do you have root?

Yeah.

I've always had a rooted device. Nexus devices don't typically have nearly as much bloatware as other devices running overlays. I typically just google what system apps are safe to remove and I use titanium backup pro to delete them manually. Or you can use the "freeze" option if you ever plan on using them in the future.

ROM flashing and Titanium backup - found where I went wrong

This is my first post here so it'll probably be in the wrong spot and say something everyone already knows etc etc
I recently battled through an installation of the CM-6.1.3 ROM and when i restored apps using titanium backup/restore I kept getting force closes using the camera and even when trying to choose a ringtone.
The mistake i was making is that you can't just restore all apps with titanium. Your old versions of apps will over-write the CM-6.1.3 versions and cause issues. I had to go and restore only the minimum number of my user apps making sure i wasn't over-writing an app already built into the ROM.
If this is so basic as to not be worth sharing....sorry. But I imagine a lot of noobs like me with new ROM problems could trace it back to improper titanium use?
Some things to consider:
1. What was the last ROM you backed up your apps on.
2. Did you enable application moving in CyanogenMod Application settings.

You cannot backup your apps from Android 2.1 and restore them to Android 2.2 (CM 6.1.3), the data will not be compatible. And make sure you do enable Application Moving or else you may run out of space on your phone's internal storage.

my luck is that i don't use much app
I just restore my apps and their data with tb. Always works fine for me.
I dont restore any built in stuff at all, it only takes a few minutes to run through the settings.

[Q]uninstalling at&t preinstalled apps?

how? do i need to root the phone? or is there a way to do it without? i don't really use the preinstalled at&t stuff and i'd like to have it gone.
You have to root. Then you have 2 options. Install titanium backup and freeze or uninstall all the att bloatware.
Or
Find an awesome rom and follow instructions on how to flash it. The custom roms have all the bloatware crap removed.

How to uninstall bloatware?

I am using a Droid Mini, 4.4 kitkat unrooted, completely stock. Being excited to get 4.4, I updated before reading the forums and now I am stuck unrooted.
Is it possible to uninstall my bloatware (verizon apps along with a few others) without my phone being rooted? I am accustom using TitaniumBackup for this task but unfortunately I can not due to not being rooted.
Sorry, friend, you're pretty stuck right now. Small consolation, at least you are successfully upgraded to KK.
fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.
Thanks for the reply. I was scared that would be the case.

You can disable the bloatware. Settings / apps, find the app and tap it, tap disable at the top if it's there.

You can disable what they say you can. I'm assuming he wants a full Denise debloat
Maxx'd out Kit Kat
Thanks. I will give that a try, sounds real simple.

There is another question I had also. Since I can't use TitaniumBackup, is there another way to backup all my apps and data from another android phone and restore on my Droid Mini?

Actually this is way, way better than it used to be.I was able to disable nearly all the VZW stuff. There was very little left that I wanted to get rid of and couldn't. This is the first non-rooted phone I've had where I could do that and the number one reason I had for rooting in the first place.

You can use a launcher like nova and hide the bloatware in your app drawer....

If your comfortable with command line you can do an adb backup, then restore that backup.ab file by doing abd restore backup.ab. There are some additional parameters in the initial adb backup command but I can't remember them. You'll have to Google them..

APK+Data Backup Application Beside the Titanium Backup

Would you recommend me an app that can backup all your Apk and apkData besides Titanium Backup or Go Backup?
Give ROM Toolbox a go. Its got a ton of great features and can backup/restore apps etc. What issues do you have with TiBu?
My Backup Root works pretty well. Can also save call logs, sms, etc. A word of caution: the saves are not transferable to another device unless you have the pro version.
Any other apps?
Helium. Works without root

How to get rid of CM "bloat?"

Hi pple say" WTF there is none "! Well terminal emulator, voice dialing etc, and others I don't want our are covered by apps that do other stuff too, so it's bloat to me but I can't wipe it, just freeze. Anyway to remove the junk?

another alternative (which is what I do) is write a flashable zip with an updater-script that deletes the things you do not want.

Freezing is the best option in this case. That way, you don't need to do it every time you update the ROM.
Second best is zip script.
Every ROM has bloatware. Even stock Google has crap nobody wants.
These things take a minuscule amount of space.... Freezing is the best way. Titanium backup.

I think someone else mentioned TiBU allows you to convert/freeze/delete system apps.
