APK+Data Backup Application Beside the Titanium Backup - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would you recommend me an app that can backup all your Apk and apkData besides Titanium Backup or Go Backup?

Give ROM Toolbox a go. Its got a ton of great features and can backup/restore apps etc. What issues do you have with TiBu?

My Backup Root works pretty well. Can also save call logs, sms, etc. A word of caution: the saves are not transferable to another device unless you have the pro version.

Any other apps?

Helium. Works without root

ROM flashing and Titanium backup - found where I went wrong

This is my first post here so it'll probably be in the wrong spot and say something everyone already knows etc etc
I recently battled through an installation of the CM-6.1.3 ROM and when i restored apps using titanium backup/restore I kept getting force closes using the camera and even when trying to choose a ringtone.
The mistake i was making is that you can't just restore all apps with titanium. Your old versions of apps will over-write the CM-6.1.3 versions and cause issues. I had to go and restore only the minimum number of my user apps making sure i wasn't over-writing an app already built into the ROM.
If this is so basic as to not be worth sharing....sorry. But I imagine a lot of noobs like me with new ROM problems could trace it back to improper titanium use?
Some things to consider:
1. What was the last ROM you backed up your apps on.
2. Did you enable application moving in CyanogenMod Application settings.

You cannot backup your apps from Android 2.1 and restore them to Android 2.2 (CM 6.1.3), the data will not be compatible. And make sure you do enable Application Moving or else you may run out of space on your phone's internal storage.

my luck is that i don't use much app
I just restore my apps and their data with tb. Always works fine for me.
I dont restore any built in stuff at all, it only takes a few minutes to run through the settings.

[Q] Best Backup Program for the Atrix 2

Hey Guys, i'm new to Android so i'm not sure what the best backup\restore program to use is. I want to root my phone, but I'd like to know what the best way to restore everything on this phone would be. Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide!
As if right now the bootloader is still locked so you can't really do backups/restores. They did use the bionic bootstrap which allowed them to do backups but it's a big risk. Your best bet is to just wait. If you do root you can always unroot.

Thats not true. You cant backup the complete rom but you can backup all your data/apps, mybackup is my app of choice for that task.
But if you're just trying to root the phone, it doesnt wipe data so no backup would be needed. Just a FYI. But it is always a good idea to have current backups just in case.

Titanium Backup is a famous good one.

Between titanium backup and mybackup root you should be able to get all the major stuff backed up.

I have always used Titanium Backup to get all of my apps and personal data. It really helps to save time when you decide to constantly rom jump around. Grab the apps and all of the green highlighted items. That is usually your settings, homescreen layouts, and other stuff I believe. Mobilism usually has a newest version of titanium backup to test try.
mybackup root is better for restoring large numbers of apps (for free) because you don't have to acknowledge each app

not even a question, titanium hands down. U can migrate your apps to different phones, and across roms, with market links intact. Plus it lets u freeze and uninstall apps with root privileges, as well as ability to extract apks from nandroid backups. Its an absolute power house. There's a reason its a top seller.

glad u got it sorted
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I figure better to do that than ask basically the same question (Search function does work people!)
I just got a copy of Rom Toolbox Pro (it's on sale BTW) and I noticed it has a backup feature. I've been using TB free for all my backup needs. I see the overwhelming consensus has been to use TB Pro, but what about TB Free VS Rom Toolbox Pro? One thing I don't understand is the comment, "You can move apps around when you change roms." I'm assuming you mean backing up in 1 ROM then restoring them in the new ROM. RTP can't do that simple feature? That seems rather odd..
ROM Toolbox is by far better than both, but I'll always stick with Titanium Backup for all my backups. It is very fast and organized. ROM Toolbox I bought for all the ROM management features, app management, ad blocking, root file explorer. It is nice to have all of them in one. So I say buy both, don't be cheap. Support the developer.
GooManager is also another good app to look into. I use that as well and it is free.

"You can move apps around when you change roms." - means you can backup all your apps and their data and simply restore it again on new ROM
if u have free TB version than u have to restore all ur apps manually bt if u have pro version then it restores all ur apps automatically.
check this video for all features of TB

if its only TB v/s ROM toolbox pro, then i will go with rom toolbox pro as it gives u root browser and u can flash roms too
but for app backup and restore tb is best works flawlessly

Didn't know this about the Pro version. Time to buy! Thanks for the info. Button thanked!
TB is the better option.... been using it since I said on this thread. Tested both.

Tested them both as well. I use TB for backup reasons while rom toolbox to change fonts, LCD density and other minor things.
I keep a copy of TB on the sd card so that I install it as soon as I install a new rom.

along with TB this was one of the first apps I brought after rooting, chose TB as it was the first one or of the two I tried, only just started playing with this app. Only been root for couple of weeks, Rom toolbox does look good and short of played with it regarding fonts and boot images etc, not really done much else with it yet. As after root was a little scared of my phone for a couple of days. As an all in one it does look a lovely bit of kit. Both apps for me were worth the money even if one gets more use than the other

i use titanium backup pro to backup all my apps, which lets you restore just the apps you want, with or without data.. if i'm restoring all my data after flashing a ROM update, sometimes i'll use the restore data option in recovery.
Same here titanium backup pro all the way, and I make sure it backs up the data and apps to Google drive as well as the SD card. Just an extra safeguard in case I damage the card or accidentally delete all information while flashing a ROM like I did last week .

Q: Anyway to make nandroid backups without going into recovery?

I used to use Orange Backup to make daily nandroid backups but once KitKat came out, it was no longer supported. Are there any alternatives now?
What's the problem using recovery exactly?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
it requires supervised time. with orange backup you can schedule it to run at a certain time every day. i set it up when i'm asleep.
In which case i'd recommend looking at "tasker" and this thread:

from what i just read about the orange backup app, it doesnt preform a nandroid backup, it just backups files that you choose.
Only a nandroid can backup your complete rom and restore it. As far as I know. ;l

That's the same alternative I moved to when OBackup development stopped. I support PhilipTD's recommendation. To compliment that backup solution I added FolderSync to automate coping the Nandroid backups to another device or a cloud service. To round out the device backup solution I also use Titanium Backup and FolderSync.

Me too, only as a plugin for Tasker
How long does Online Nandroid Backup take to do a regular noncompressed backup? Mine was on for over an hour so I stopped it. My nandroids in recovery usually only take about 5 min.
