Hi All,
I developped an application on Android Studio, there is no library in it. I added play services :
Code:
compile com.google.android.gms:play-services-plus:8.1.0
compile com.google.android.gms:play-services-games:8.1.0
The problem is that my apk file is 3.6MB, when I installed it, because I put multiDexenable true, I expected my application size will be around 7MB not more but when I look into my application manager, it has 22.70MB !
Do you have any idea on how my apk can be 3.6MB and then comes to 23MB ?
Edit: Don't know if this is the problem but, when I looked into Project view (instead of android) I see a lots of external libraries like play-services-analytics,play-services-ads,play-services-basement, etc ... but they are not in my dependencies and they are not in my gradles files !
How they come here ? and how to remove them ?

I searched on the xda Forum, but i found nothing, so i decided to create this request post.
I have a lot of different Java Game, but the resolution is just 176x220 or 240x320 with no touch support.
So i can't play with the HD2, because it is too small and i can't move.
We have a lot of different tools to change the resolution and add the touch settings, but i never found for HTC.
I hope someone will help me and in the same time, help other person who want to play on their old Java Game like me.
Nobody have a solution to my problem.
Noboby want to play to old huge Java Game on his HTC HD2.
It is very dommage and sad.
Open the jar file with winrar and open the folder meta-inf and open the file inside with notepad.
Find this:
Nokia-MIDlet-Original-Display-Size: xxx, xxx <----- Original display (No need to change)
Nokia-MIDlet-Target-Display-Size: 480x800 <----- Desired resolution
Than you're done!
(Note: This may not work for some games.)

I already tried it, and it didn't work.
I try with four free java games.
I try also with freeware to change size and add touch, because we can't play even if we change size.
But it doesn't work also.
So i decided to open jar file and decompress all class files to have java files and to can edit them.
But i can't correctly compile new java files to have new class files to put in the jar file.
Just to remember :
The file name is MANIFEST.MF
Hi!
I've got java games which runs fine on Xperia X1 (in portrait mode, with touch screen controls, res.: 480*800). But when i try to run them on HD2 the controls are offscreen, so i can't play the games... Is there a solution for this
thx!

Registry is Windows only. On Unix systems apps config is usually stored in configuration files in home directory. And Android is totally different story.

That means that is dificult or not posible? I just want to change the google earth cache max size. It has 200MB by default. Is posible to change that or is something that requires be changed by Google?
Thanks a lot for your reply.

That means it may be stored anywhere. In Android's preferences system, some custom file in /data/data or even hardcoded in Google Earth's app. It doesn't matter where it's written in desktop, windows application.

Well, I have GE installed in the N1 and in the Galaxy Tab, this one has internal memory, even if I not use a sd card I can see the "sd card" in the file explorer, something like if where a virtual disk.
Must I have my devices rooted to have a look if find something on the preferences system or data/data? Hope any guy with knowledge here find this issue interesting enough to have a look, maybe its a simple thing to change but I have no idea how to look for.
You can try to unpack the apk file for the google earth app and check if any of the files there has any mention of the size limit.
I think it is better than to go hunting for the configuration files spread all over your phone.

Have unpacked the apk, open with notepad, there are characters unreadeable and some text. On the text have found references to the "clear cache" , that refer to that option on the app, but no specific. Only this:
buttonView c cacheDir cal
callbackProxy canWrite cancel cause cb cel
What I think doesn´t mean anything. I guess..., maybe 200mb is the default cache that Android allows for any app considering that the the most often devices a mobiles phones with limited space and or performance?
You see all those funny characters because the app is compiled.
You should try decompiling it. I would post a link for you , but I'm new and can't post links , so just search on google the word : smali.
Hope this helps
Sorry , You should search apktool not smali

As I thought it's in some config files in /data/data
I am making a soundboard app over at appinventor and seems like i exceeded the maximum size for the system to compile my source as an apk. I spent a LOT of time perfecting it and now very depressed.
The .apk should be about 30-35mb in size. i pulled the source from appinventor (.zip) which is about 20mb. I checked appinventor FAQs, and it clearly states that i CANNOT use appinventor sources in eclipse. So my question to the humble xda-devs are, is it possible to make an .apk out of my source zipfile in ANY way?
Greatly appreciate it. And stay safe from Irene.
Very easy to take care of this issue. Follow these steps:
1. DO NOT upload your sounds in App Inventor - just do a test with shorter mp3 to ensure they are working
2. Download your .apk file
3. Use AppToMarket to decompile your AI app
4. Goto assets folder in temp_myDecompiles
5. Copy all your sounds into assets folder
6. Use AppToMarket again to package up your app
You are done.
Hope this helps

Hello
In India we are rolling out tablets to students in classroom in batches of 50.
We have identified a set of 20 offline apps, with data (example "Simple English Wikipedia" 50 MB, Dictionary etc)
on stock Android tablets with 4.0.3
What is the best way to preinstall these apps for students, as market wont allow us to download apk files?
Should we talk to the developers of the apps, and get the apk files?
The reason we want to preinstall apps is because we want them to have a lot of offline content (Wikipedia, Dictionary etc), as internet is very sporadic or not available for many of these students.
Prakash
You can connect each tablet to a PC and copy the apk files to the tablets manually. From there, just open the apk files and install. You can find the apks online, at least free ones you can.
sent from my captivate glide running ICS (NardROM 0.4 Rooted)
re, preinstall android apps
A simple example is wikidroyd, Google Drive
The websites does not allow us to download the apk files but points us to the market/play.
So if i hack or find the apk files online, to preinstall using an SD card is it legal?
Is there a way to legally download the apk files for free apps.

Well, you can download the free app from market on one of the devices, adb pull the apk...and then adb push it to the rest of the devices...
I'm quite confident this won't be a problem...
If you still want to be on the safest side, you can email the developers asking permission to do so...

re, Distribute free apps in India
So finally we decided to bundle a 1 GB USB Drive with our tablets.
Preinstalled a bunch of Apks in the USB drive, showed students how to install apk files.
Pointed them to
torrapk, google play and appbrain.
Thanks for all your help.
Hi guys, I'm currently debugging my phone looking for error in ported apps, looking in the Warn level I'm getting various logs from Resource Manager like this one:
"W: Asset path '/system/framework/com.google.android.maps.jar' does not exist or contains no resources."
I'm not worried about these errors as all apps are working fine, but my question is why do these errors appear even if I have the corresponding file in the correct place. (and every .jar has its .dex inside)?
