My Samsung galaxy note 3 shows earphones plugged in when I am in a call even when it is not and there is no problem in the jack because other music players plays music from external speakers and also during calls the voice comes from speakers but only it shows that earphones are plugged in when I use the buttons reduce noise or increase volume. I recently used bold beast recorder and I think it is the main cause of the problem because it is happening only in the calling app and because of this proximity sensor is not working as the phone thinks that earphones are connected. Please help me. It cures after a restart but happens again after sometimes. I have uninstalled bold beast still no hope.
Factory restore might help

Has anyone had issues with the audio output from the phone shutting off and not coming back without a soft reset? I have Sprint Touch Pro
Sometimes when I plug my phone into my cars audio system via the mini usb to 3.5mm audio adapter, sound output from the phone shuts off. I have tried to unplug it, stop the music playback, restart WMP but the sound doesn't come back. When I say there is no sound, I mean that the phone will not make any type of noise, not just music, it won't even ring when someone calls. If I soft reset it the sound comes back. It has done this to me about 5 times already. Any ideas?
Has this happened to anyone else?
Mine does that when I have a usb adapter connected - and I don't actually have a cable connected. Because it assumes output is going out through a 3.5 mm jack. But I've always gotten output to my headphones.
Is your phone going silent while connected to your car stereo - or only before connecting?
hi, this may be a silly response, but it happened to me, the system on the phone was on silent so no sounds play, sorry if this is obvious, but like I said I did it......doh

Dude this happened to me too I just got my phone yesterday and while playing music thru the headset it just suddenly went silent last time it did that but then again i've only had it 2 days
I just had the exact same thing happen. I used my TP in the car with the audio out and the phone has no sound. Soft reset fixed it but after 20 mins it happened again and I was not using the mini adapter.
Has anyone figured out why this happens?
EDIT
Ok... now since this happened the first time I can reproduce this behavior. If I send myself a test SMS I hear the alert. If I then plug the power adapter in the phone and charge it with the screen still on, I still hear the alert. As soon as the screen is powered off (still charging) and I send a test SMS I see the lights around the directional pad blinking, but get no audible alert. Then if I turn the screen on I cannot hear any sound at all. MP3's, alerts, ringers etc.
I bought some JVC headphones that are high quality and the sound is really clear after a while i notice when i plug them in my Sensation the sound is terrible it sounds like a pair of 5 dollar headphones with no bass, it was working fine what gives?
Wait... So you were using the headphones in Sensation fine for some time, but then this suddenly happened? Try them in another device to see if it's a problem with headphones. You can also turn on SRS/Equalizer in Music settings.
Did the sound get worse after answering a call and going back to the music app? Does the problem get fixed when you reboot the phone? If so, disconnect the headphone, play music through the speaker and connect the headphone back while the music is playing. It should get fixed. If you have a headset, while listening to music, you can press the main button twice (as to redial a call) and then immediately cancel the call. It should give you back the good sound.
Whenever I listed to Spotify using headphones or connecting it to Aux using headphones it pauses the music when a notification is received such as sms or whatsapp message. It plays the notification sound and then it continues the music again.
I am coming from HTC m8, and there under the same scenario it faded the music played the notification meanwhile and volume went back again.
This only occurs when headphones are plugged in. If a notification is received while playing through phone speakers it fades the sound the way it should do.
I am using Spotify as source.
I've read that some has disabled notification sounds completely while headphones are plugged in but that would make me miss any important texts/emails so the work-around is not appreciated in my case.
Another thing noted is that when headphones are used and a notification is played (such as sms received or whatsapp message) the phone plays the sound through it's internal speakers also, same time as my headphones are connected making the surrounding hear me receiving notifications all the time.
Is there any solution to the above two issues?
My Samsung S6 is rooted, and I am also running custom rom XtreStoLite 2.1 (5.1.1).
hi
just got a new xperia 5. The phone has some really bad audio distortion when video calling with Whatsapp or speaker phone voice calls. It sounds like the audio volume is far too high for the speakers causing lots of crackling and distortion. Its as if a speaker is plugged into an amp that is far too powerful for it. Has anyone else experienced this, or got any suggestions on how to fix it? Or do I need to send the phone back.
I've tried turning off dynamic vibration and dolby atmos, but no difference.
The issue only seems to occur with WhatsApp video or voice calls on speaker phone. It doesn't happen for standard GSM calls even on speaker phone or if playing a recorded message or video through whatsapp. Other apps don't seem to have any problems.
In WhatsApp I can kind of fix the problem by turning the volume down by about 30% but then the speaker volume is a bit too quiet.
I am using a Chinese version that was flashed with Oxygen OS. Currently running with Android. Had no issues for the past 5 months. Suddenly this issue (while only with earphones plugged in) encountered and is occurring frequently.
Issue:
1> When plugged in an earphone and watching videos, the vide gets automatically paused and played and the volume gets decreased. When increased the volume again the volume automatically decreases.
2> While Listening to music or playing games also the volume suddenly gets decreased and when increased the volume the volume again gets decreased.
3> While on call, the caller doesn't hear what we speak at times and I also cannot hear the caller speaks at times.
Thinking the issue was with the earphones, tried changing to 4 new earphones but the issue is still the same. Tried resetting the device, still the issue is the same.
Someone please help me sort this out or let me know what the issue is?

If this is just an issue with wired earphones and not Bluetooth earphones I would suspect that there is a problem with the usb-port or the usb-c-to-3mm jack if you use one. Have a close look the se if there is some dirt inside the port. Try a vacuum cleaner to get dust or paticles out. Or replace the usb-c-to-3mm jack if you use one. Not all of these work with all phones. They are not all the same.
