Just had an interesting thought and Google didn't help me. It can be either a custom rom or official. My guess is the Galaxy S Plus because they had to make a memory switch to fit the requirements, but that is just me. I hope I get my thought answered.

Edit: sorry, i thought i was in the note section. My bad. If you have an input please reply while i get a mod to move this.
My uncle has the note, and he keeps saying that most apps aren't working/compatible.
Is this true? I feel i can't get an honest answer out of him as he's showing his colors as an Apple fanboy now, which is fine, but he keeps ****ting on Android which is starting to annoy me a bit as i know how good is.
iOs is 100% made for him, it's easy, and he doesn't need to make any effort to do anything (he thinks).
Sorry for ranting, i don't mind ios to be honest, but i like to have complete control of my phone, he doesn't.
So, I'm on the sgs2, and so far, all the things I've downloaded have worked and have worked well. Is this not the case for the note?
have you noticed a lot of incompatibility?
He is stock gb by the way. No interest in rooting or anything. Seems happy enough to wait for his carrier to bring him ics.
Also, if you did have issues with apps etc.. Was it resolved when you upgraded to ics?
I see SCH-i925 in some places and then I see reference to LTE versions with another designation called N802X, can someone please clarify this for me? Also, is there any real development happening for the SCH-i925 or should I just plan to run it stock for the foreseeable future? My tablet got the most recent OTA before I even left the store, so I never had a chance to root it and it would appear that there is nothing happening there, but just to stay on topic (since development talk is another sub-forum) I would love for someone to explain what the model designations mean. :good::good:

The SCH-i925 is the Verizon model of the 10.1. The N802X is the international version of the 10.1LTE. From what I've gathered they are identical without the Verizon bloat. Development for this little critter is virtually nonexistent, although This thing runs flawless for me with just the stock rom. I never received the new update because I've been rooted for a while, but really there isn't a ton of need to be rooted on this thing. You can kill off just about everything you dont want in the application manager. The only real caveat to not being rooted is you cant install rooted apps.
My SGS3 is currently running Cyanogenmod 10.x. Lately, I've been having massive problems with this device, as it randomly reboots and occasionally goes into boot loops, for sometimes as long as 20 minutes. I've looked into figuring out what was wrong with my install of Cyanogenmod, but I have hit only dead ends. I want to switch to something else... and NOW, because I use my phone daily and this has reached the point of crippling. Can anyone explain to me how to move from Cyanogenmod to Slim Rom? I tried going to Liquid (something or other) about a month ago, but it would always bootloop when I finished the setup... so I gave up on that one. I'm looking for a non-stock ROM that is stable (at least as far as the random reboots go). I'd prefer LP since I can have multiple user accounts on it, and will eliminate the need for multiple android devices for me (for the time being, anyway). Thanks in advance! I appreciate any and all help I'm able to get here.
@CPUnltd: I don't understand: there's only 1 Slim-LP-ROM, easy to find, stable, up to date, recommendable.
I use it since months and, after trying other LP-ROMs, came always back. I use it without GApps and elephants as FB, Whatsapp... I never created a 2nd user.
With this slim layout I get no FCs, sometimes a lag.
It's personal, so try.
What I'm asking about involves the fact that what I have is not in I9300. The galaxy s3 that I own is an i515, which is the US Cellular version. I've been burned in the past when I didn't get a room that was specific to my phone by model number. If this one is generic and works for all galaxy s3 models then there's no issue. Thank you for the link that you provided. I will look into what options are available via that link. What I really like is confirmation that someone's been able to use that one on my specific model phone. But I will likely give it a try sometime this week after I have backed up my files.
@CPUnltd: that's late info. I recommend to ask the dev @mcgi5sr2 before damaging anything.

The i515 is the Galaxy nexus, so this rom will not work on it
Sch-r530u is my model number. Sorry. Posted right before falling asleep and was going of of memory.

Hello,
I have been looking one source of solid information in this phone but seems to have too many conflicting opinions.
I have not rooted a phone before, but I'm comfortable following directions and taking things step by step. I have built many PCs, repaired laptops, installed OSs, even some analog cable and satellite "testing" in the past.
I have Nougat on my tablet and it looks pretty cool so far. I was wondering if I can root/mod and load Nougat on my phone. It seems that many places say YES, the Galaxy S5 can get Nougat. Only to find a note somewhere in the instructions that the SM-G900A is not supported, just about every other one is.
So......
Can I root this phone?
Can I put Nougat on it?
Is there really any benefit to doing either or would I just be wasting my time.
Can I go back to the stock AT&T software if I have issues?
If I do that will it go back to the ORIGINAL OS that was on it or back to the current version of Marshmallow that I have on it now?
Thanks, any suggestions are welcome.
Matt.
Ok, I know this was a niche phone and was a limited run. I'm finding the rooted stock firmware is not running well (progressively more laggy mostly). SM-N915W8 version
Can someone please recommend a good ROM/Kernel? Reliable daily driver? that will freshen/lighten it up a bit? I just need to get pointed in the right direction.
I was fine on my old S5 because there were so many options to pick from, but with my canadian variant on a limited run phone, I question compatibility with what's on the list. Sorry, I'm limited in time/knowledge. But if I can just get a couple threads to get me going, I'll be fine. I just don't want to give up on this phone yet. The note 8 isn't out yet and I have this one accessorized with my zerolemon and other goodies.
Thanks in advance.
