Really great job on the ROM. Lots of customization xtras and battery life is really really good. After using this for 2 days I only have 1 issue and that's with the anti-piracy app setting. Ive looked everywhere in settings but cant find where to shut it off. I can't install lucky patcher and unfortunately, that's a deal breaker and I'd hate to have to change ROM's when this is, honestly, my favorite one yet for the Kindle by far. Thank you for your time.

There's not a switch off sadly.
I know that there's a way to disabled it but I don't remember how.

I know. I agree with the idea of it, and I'm not complaining about it.
Hdmi out Works?
Thanks for the rom! Love AICP, it's what I use on my phone too.
Doesn't seem to have Tap-to-wake, is that a hardware limitation? any chance of adding it? One of my favorite features, and would be very useful on the kindle, as I find myself fumbling for the hard to find power button.
This Content Guard is shady to say the least. Why the need to go to closed source with it now? This isnt about piracy its about PRIVACY. This **** belongs on iOS not Android. Its cool tho the workaround is pretty easy, dont forget that pirates and FOSS are one and the same and all this stuff does is makes people learn new ways to circumvent the b.s.

Its an old post but I just have to say that if you want to use warez(lucky patcher) then you DESERVE to have issues with your device.
Some nerve to come here and complain to a developer about his ROM not allowing you to use software designed to steal from other developers? REALLY!?
This community is a community of developers, I doubt there is any developer on the whole site that gives a **** about your inability to use Lucky Patcher.

Did you forget that XDA is an open source community? My issue is with the anti-piracy add on being closed source. For me, and I'm sure a lot of other XDA members, it's about privacy, not piracy.

No one came to you asking you to use his ROM.
Use it or don't, but don't come complaining because the ROM won't allow you to use a piece of software designed to steal from other developers, whether you are using it for that purpose or not. Your entire complaint is based on the fact that you can't use Lucky Patcher because as you stated, "that's a deal breaker for you", you will get no sympathy anywhere on XDA about not being able to use it.
If your complaint were in some other area then someone here might be willing to make some changes.
Anyway, you understand that Lucky Patcher isn't tolerated at XDA in any way, shape, form or function, so why waste your time complaining about it. Move on and enjoy your device with something else.

Just wondered if anyone had considered creating torrents for things instead of posting links to upload sites or having to worry about having to host things on a private server. This could solve a lot of problems and make downloads much faster for everyone. Linux users probably already know that many of the linux distro sites offer torrents just for that reason.

I think they like to track the # of downloads, I don't know if you can do that with Torrents.
Another reason is, such as with the bamf previews, they can take them down. On a torrent they do not have that option.

This was suggested a couple months ago. I seeded BAMF and BAMF Remix 1.6.3 or something for a couple weeks and posted it in the BAMF thread because people asked but no one used it.

Why should they really care if they can take them down or not? If there is a problem with the ROM and it is bricking everyone's phone, just make a new sticky that says "Don't install this". This whole recurring theme about "don't re-post the ROM cause you might piss off the devs" is kind of silly.

Because they were strictly previews, and it was stated as such that they would only be available for a short time. And honestly if a dev wants control over their Rom and where it's located, well more power to them.

So we are rooting our phones against the wishes of our carrier and manufacturer but don't want to upset a dev by posting their rom where folks can download it faster? We do the same thing with most all other applications on the internet without regard to the original developers. Firefox has retired Firefox 4 but you can still find plenty of places on the net to download it.

Way I see it, the devs have the right to request that no one mirror their roms for what ever reason, be it tracking downloads, ability to take them down (again for what ever reason) or just plain being a ass. If people dont agree with that request, they can and should feel free to download a different rom.
Also with torrents, can you really be sure you are getting the correct file? how many people actually check the md5 before trying to flash the rom? Keeping it in the control of the dev insures, at least partially, that the download is correct.

Or we can continue with the spirit that makes the internet great including things like custom ROMs, and do whatever the hell we want to do.
This code is owned by Android / HTC. Did the devs get their permission before they modified it and posted their custom ROM?
Please, this whole "lets don't upset the devs" is getting really old. XDA is full of a bunch of dev ass kissers and smart ass devs.
If someone is too dumb to generate a MD5 then that is their fault.
As stated above, torrents are a bad idea when it comes to flashing a Rom. Also if you do ever upload a Rom anywhere make sure you ask the developer first no matter whether you think you should or not

Well you're doing a fine job right now...
Hello,
I'm currently working on a new project called droid host.
It's a website where developers can host their roms (and other software).
Every user will only have limited storage (about 2-10gb cause traffic and storage is expensive)
Clients will be able to Download the files just with one click (no waiting time, no clicking on a download button)
I may also add a extended account for 1-1,5€/Month for more storage.
Do you think this is a good project or am I just waiting my time with it?
Would you use such a service to host your roms?
Update:
droid host has reached alpha status. The main things are working. I will now find bugs and add additional features.
Bright idea, but I wouldn't recommend the name, people would start thinking the same guys who run XDA-Developers run it, which would stir up all kinds of drama.

Okay, I renamed it to droid host, since I think the most hosted roms will be for android and I personaly like android
Later, I will post a screenshot of the design in the first Thread.
I'm currently working on the upload/management/download mechanism.
I think I will move to public beta this month or at the latest next month if everything works as planned.

So an unpleasant surprise in the EOS Nightlies and a few other builds is the inclusion of SPAMWARE called Goo.im. Its a notification app that could double as spyware as well. Its full functionality and the extent it can invade your privacy is unknown.
To remove it, simply do the following:
- Start Titanium Backup
- Find Goo Manager
- Long press to convert to user app
- Once converted, long press again to delete
After that you'll be free of this SPAMWARE.
Its not spamware it tells you when you have an update for your rom and gapps
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
In my books - that is SPAM. Never the less, new users of nightlies will find removing this or disabling a little difficult and this post is meant to be informational for all those who don't want opt-out notification.

First of all, I believe it is called gooManager.
If this is what you are referring to, this is not a spam or malware. Your book could be infected, with all respect, no offence...
This is an application subscribed to by team eos to host many dev apps, and ROMs and to notify you whenever there is an update available for you. Is it an added value feature that other ROMs lack. It is not spam no whatsover... thx for the tip though on how to use titanium backup...

Dude you might need to places ur time in something else other then flashing Roms bc that feature u so called what to show people how to remove is a blessing to everyone that understand they don't have to go in to the rom and select the update every time. Also, people have put a lot of time in to that feature.

Goo manager is NOT spam and is in fact the ONLY app I use to automatically notify me of a ROM or gapps update then download the update, wipe, backup and flash all from the app (as long as open script recovery). I even donated $10 for support of the dev.
Your opinions are your own but realize you are incorrect to call it spam or imply that it is in any way malicious. Uninstalling it should have sufficed without need for this thread... IMO.

... perhaps you just shouldn't use our ROMs then; in fact, I'd prefer that you don't (seriously!) if you have those kinds of issues with our builds.
BTW, you're not making much sense- after all, we make these ROMs ourselves essentially from scratch- if we'd wanted to "spy" on you, there's FAR more innocuous ways to do it (that you'd never know about nor be able to remove w/o a full wipe) than having to "install 'spy'ware".
This thread sucks. If you don't want update notifications, go into the settings on goomanager and set the "ROM Update Frequency" setting to never.
It's along the same lines as google, moto etc telling you an OTA is available?

I just wanted to make a useless post ad this entire thread is useless to everyone. .. Except for the OP

I bet the OP wouldn't consider the free version of clockwork baked into many of the ROMs i've installed to be malware, simply since he'd heard of that one... lol. Ignorance is bliss, or egg on the face. Thanks goo, I use you all the time and happily sponsored too!
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk 2
Mr OP... Your thoughts here are very flawed and they lack insight and logic. I know I really shouldn't give this guy the time of day and he is likely a troll... But if you ARE new to this stuff and you are feeling your way through these processes, you need more information than he gave.
First is a simple argument with very simple logic. If indeed this app is malicious in intent, you can trust that they would have simply been caught by now! Do you really think all the code writers and programmers and enthusiasts and all around nerds (I can say it cause I am one) wouldn't have discovered it? The awesome people on this board were able to find out that a ICS leak for the Motorola DROID Bionic had a check in place that stopped the returning to stock process. And they didn't do it by experimentation, they busted through the code and put it through tests... Other stuff cause they're just that damn good!
Secondly, if they were again being malicious and say they were caught but they somehow convinced everyone that has caught them to keep it quiet and they cut them in on the action... Dude, really? We did in fact for to the moon, I promise you that. (that's a conspiracy theory crack, didn't want the genius OP to miss out on a joke).
Third, it's not necessary you tell people how to get rid of the app because if you're on this board, you're smarter... Wait.... Since we are dealing with this thread I can't say EVERYONE here is smart.
In the end, this is a much optional app. Rooting and roming are much optional. If you don't want it, don't use it. No one really cares to invade your privacy, no one cares what porn you browse on your Xoom! If you hate this kind of stuff go buy iProducts and be a drone like the rest of the hipsters.
Have a nice night now!
*rolls eyes*.....*types out long reply to OP*....*spam backspace*....*hits submit reply*
U mad OP?
Hit the thanks button and wam it disappears ! Try it.
I wasn't a fan of the notifications, and prefer to boot into recovery to flash updates, so I uninstalled, not seen any reasons to claim it was malicious though... perhaps the OP doesn't understand why it has the permissions it has :-\
Anyone got a copy of that? With a shield the app that launches when you hit the shield button I need that exact app.

No, it is not. And while I can't speak too much about it, it's not just a side-load onto any device. So don't be holding your breath about someone uploading the APK and getting all the features running this week.
right....because it sooo hard to make rudimentary changes to a launcher.
The APK is called Dashboard.apk. It resides in /system/app and can be launched as a normal app.

You're the one going around posting false information. And asking for a system dump is not "demanding a bunch of stuff".
If you want to get into a pissing match about who's done more to help the XDA community, you're gonna lose. I've done alot more than post some roms for the EVO 3D. If anyone's a troll here its you.
And 20x more people have found my comments helpful. So you're still trolling. What false info have I given?
Unlike you i'm not a thanks whore, and the thanks meter wasn't even implemented when I started posting on XDA. I have released numerous firmware images and sbf files that would otherwise have not been obtainable, saving countless devices in the process(See the technician only Xoom recovery file that was the only way to restore a bricked Xoom for months after release). That's a little more important to me than some likes.
Oh and False info? You just said not a few moments ago it runs like a normal app.
Now now boys, calm down.
I must admit I am on legions side on most of his points so far. This is a community forum for the general public and what we do here is Share and Mod. I do believe "agrabren" that as you are part of the Nvidia team you don't want to see parts of your product ported and such, but the product is now in the hands of the user and so now it is up to us what we do with our purchases.

It didn't occur to me that I might need to explain that in more detail, but in hind-sight, it does need clarification. What I mean, and meant from the beginning, is that the framework doesn't issue any "magic" to launch that app. There's no special "back-door" entry into that APK which makes it work on the device, nor is the Intent anyway modified. My natural instinct is to distrust every aspect of a system app that doesn't sideload correctly. In this case, I gave extra insight into areas of attack on getting the APK to load on other devices by eliminating one method a company could use for an app that has a special method of launch (the center button on the device).
So my statement, properly clarified, is that the APK itself has nothing special about it in regards to Intent launching or its AndroidManifest.xml, but that without some efforts with other components, will not run directly on another device, especially one based on a non-Tegra device.

Great, except I've actually been trying to help most people with most parts of ROM sharing and modding. I've already said that I'm going to post the OTA1 system and boot images, in their official entirety, as well as I'll probably post a rooted version as well. I've been helping people prevent bricking their devices.
If you'd rather I just go away, I'm happy to. But I wouldn't expect anyone else from NVIDIA to be reaching out to get CM10.2 up and running on this device, or to get a custom recovery up and running quickly. I've never objected to him getting the system image, I'm all for it being uploaded and even promised to do so. I'm trying to help clarify what will work easily and what won't. I even answered the question that nobody else had, the APK he's asking for (because he didn't know the name of it) is Dashboard.apk, and it resides in /system/app. His contributions right now to the SHIELD forums on XDA are: Give me the system image, give me some APKs that may be on the device! That rubs me the wrong way as a person who has spent plenty of time developing ROMs for different phones, helping fix kernels for multiple CM-supported devices, and who has *always* fought for companies to give to the community. Unlockable bootloader? Yeah, I was part of that push. I'm trying my best to get as much source as possible made public.
Maybe I came off poorly in this thread (because this was after the thread asking for an apk that has only been demoed at tradeshows and special press meetings). So I'm sorry if I came off wrong, but while everyone else is helping each other out, he's just demanding stuff.
I what world do you live in that posting a thread asking for a system image and a possibly pre-loaded app qualifies as "demanding stuff"? Why should I have to have done anything to be worthy of your approval to post such a thread?
There is a huge conflict of interest with you both working for Nvidia and unofficially releasing official firmware and hacks, so frankly no, I don't trust you being involved in this devices xda development.

So a guy who doesn't own the device is not going to trust ROMs I make for a device he doesn't own. Oops, no loss to me. You can go back to trolling, I'm done with your thread. You have your system image and boot image in either manner you want it.
Oops, my bad. It wasn't your thread, you just came into this thread to troll me. My mistake.
Raptor, if you check in the Android Development section, you'll find the system images. I'd suggest the ZIP version, because it's both smaller and already extracted. The system.img is an uncompress image to be flashed via fastboot in case someone messes up their system or boot partitions.
Hi guys,

Individual licenses of reused components inside continue to apply. You can also have multiple Aware licenses if you want to include mine with yours.
This is intended to help users gain the maximum out of their old devices and reduce consumption in the form of having to buy new devices all the time.
'This software is being distributed with the Aware license. Please allow it to be brought to your kind awareness that buying lesser devices could possibly have a direct positive socio-political impact in some countries where the components are sourced from.
If you like this work please help your friends become aware of this too.'

I hope that you and anyone else who can/will pick up where you left off does well. Good luck and I look forward to any future releases!

Good to see you return, very appreciative of your work and stance. You've opened alot of eyes, and I'm sorry you've been made to feel threatened and attacked for this. I do sincerely pray for an end to this, and the best for you. Look forward to seeing where this goes in the future. Thank you!

Have you considered making this completely open source? I fear that cause you are still updating the OP that you're still going to be open to attack. However if you open source your project you are in effect protected by it's licensing etc.
Then to whom ever pushes the most contributions back to to your repository then you could consider handing it overt to them? If they are a member here then I am sure with the go ahead from XDA admin the thread can be handed over to that member or possible creation of a group or sub group in the forums that could be dedicated to the future developments of crossbreeder? This would ensure no one person owns it. All people own it and it's future can be safe. This would mean that what ever powers that be cannot target you as a developer... they would then have a job on their hands attempting to target many. You bring then a state of anarchy to digital mobile world.
What ever you end up doing with the project, i wish you all the best and remember above all stay safe (stick closely to your family and friends first and foremost)
Take care

Hi,
It's open source. The development thread contains the entire source.
The hope is that the Aware license will help. If you can pass this to your friends that the developer of this thread has publicly stated his name in the Aware license so the mere fact that you and your friends are aware of him in large numbers will bring attention to him.
That is the hopeful intent of the Aware license.
@xda admins, if you could hand over the keys to @fivefour with a request to keep my appeals intact in the developer thread OP ( maybe collapse it inside a 'Show content') and change everything else there as he pleases and leave this general thread OP as is ( with any of his additions below ) that would be great.
Cheers and goodbye once again.
To the good, stay good.
After I get my new laptop I'd like to take a gander at the source and see what I can do to pitch in I personally love this mod and refuse to let it die someone wants to make threats I say come say them to the barrel of my Taurus Judge.
With that said I should have a new laptop and phone to play on around Dec 10-15ish...take care @idcrisis I am sending you one last pm in a sec you should look at

I'm so sorry you had to go through that nightmare. I really am. I wonder what kind of people go so low to threat people like that.
Also, my condolences for your friend. You have written a great mod, your legacy cannot be touched. Thank you so much, once again.
About your decision, it starts with you're free to do whatever you want without being judged. With that said, life is priceless.
The best of luck for you my friend.
It will be a while before I'm fully up on his scripts but priority one is the much needed Android app to ensure CrossBreeder is more accessible and user friendly. The sources to the app and any changes I make will end up on Github for all to participate.
I recently moved and my PC is currently in storage, it will be a few days before I'm able to begin work on the app.
