Introduction
Here comes the Android 4.2.1 ROM with full Project Butter experience with UI running @ 60+ FPS* making our W8 a real beast!
It's based on the latest Eastcom W1 stock Android 4.2.1 ROM. It's a pure stock with a few fixes and mods on top (check out the Changelog in the second post).
For W8 16GB, W8+ and Beyond, the ROM is based on the official THL firmware and it uses official THL kernel.
Installation can be done via recovery (Instructions below).
Thanks goes to akim14 @ androidforum.cz for giving a tip about compatible Eastcom ROM.
* 60FPS is available for W8 4GB/8GB models only.
* W8 16GB runs at max of 49FPS since it's using official THL kernel
* W8+ and Beyond use kernel from Beyond running at 58 FPS
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT COMPATIBILITY
Although this ROM seems to be working fine on majority of W8 models, there's still a chance you might come accross some issues caused by incompatibility.
Except for memory size, newer batches of W8 seem to have some other hardware differences (e.g. camera sensor) making them incompatible with this ROM.
Since I own W8 8GB version that came out in the very first batch, it is impossible for me to reproduce, debug and fix bugs that may appear on different or newer W8 models. I won't be providing any support nor bug fixes for these models!!! It is simply unmanageable for me! Thanks for understanding.
Therefore, you should rather consider sticking with the stock ROM and installing standalone GravityBox app which will basically introduce all the mods without actually having to flash any custom ROM. This approach avoids all the potential incompatibility issues you may have with non-official ROMs.
And remember, it's always YOUR decision when it comes to flashing ROMs or installing apps.
You should ALWAYS make a backup of stock rom before flashing anything on your device!!! I am getting too many personal message from people that didn't make a backup of stock ROM before flashing GM2 asking for help, which wastes a lot of my free time that could be used more efficiently (e.g. to work on GravityBox app)
Read carefully before you proceed
- full wipe is needed to upgrade from Android 4.1.2 or any other ROM that's not based on this one.
- returning to previous ROM that was backed up using custom recovery is possible only in case you used my ClockworkMod to backup your previous ROM.
All other custom recoveries will simply not work fully because they are not "MTK6589 friendly".
So I strongly recommend to flash my ClockworkMod and perform backup using this recovery before proceeding any further.

Installation instructions
1) Download proper installation package for your W8 model from Downloads section above
2) Put installatrion ZIP on SD card
3) Reboot to clockworkmod recovery
4) Make a backup of your current rom.
5) Perform full wipe: wipe data/factory reset, advanced/wipe dalvik cache
6) Choose "install zip from sd card", browse for installation ZIP and confirm flash
7) Reboot
Incremental update instructions - when updating to newer version
This is in case you are already running some version of GM2 and want to upgrade to newer version of GM2
1) Download incremental update package and put it on SD card
2) Reboot to clockworkmod recovery
3) Wipe cache and dalvik cache (don't wipe data - your user apps will be preserved)
4) Choose "install zip from sd card", browse for incremental update ZIP and confirm flash
5) Reboot
Repartitioning instructions - to get more space for apps (2GB instead of 1GB)
APPLICABLE TO W8 4GB/8GB VERSIONS!!!
1) Backup contents of Phone storage (internal SD) somewhere to your PC.
2) Download repartitioning package and put it on external SD
3) Reboot to recovery
4) Backup your rom - IMPORTANT!!! CHOOSE TO BACKUP TO EXTERNAL SD!!! IF YOU BACKUP TO INTERNAL SD YOUR BACKUP WILLL BE WIPED DURING REPARTITIONING PROCESS!!!
5) Install zip from sd card / choose zip from external sd - choose zip downloaded in step 2)
6) Reboot recovery (recovery main menu / advanced / reboot recovery)
7) Format data partition (mounts and storage / format data)
8) Reboot system
9) You should see notification saying that phone storage is damaged. Open notification and confirm Format SD when prompted.
10) Reboot to recovery
11) Restore Backup made in step 4) (you can restore complete rom or just Data partition using "Advanced restore")
12) Copy contents of backed up Phone storage (internal SD) from PC back to Phone storage (make sure they fit new size)
New size for 8GB model: ~4.5GB
New size for 4GB model: ~0.5GB

- Flash the rom
- Boot the OS WITHOUT ANY SIM INSERTED
- Enter Date & Time Settings
- Automatic Date & Time - OFF
- Automatic Timezone - OFF (Uncheck)
- Reboot the phone and insert SIMs

Don't even try It won't work.

Tried to install the compatibility fix that you uploaded.

now I get a message that says:
"E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
how else can I install this file?
or any file actually..

CWM requires external SD card. It cannot install from internal storage.
You can just unzip the file and copy xml file into /system/etc/permissions
Set its permissions to 644 (rw r r)

It seems that not all widgets are displayed in the menu... Cannot even find'em. There's no possibility to put them on the desktop... But maybe that's because I restored them using TitaniumBackup (backups made on 4.1.2). It shouldn't be... Any Ideas?
Added: I tryied to romove an app and afterwards installed it again - no effect.

That's the withdraw of the stock launcher. Install e.g. Nova Launcher from playstore. It will allow you to install any widget when you long-touch the screen.

Works fine here. Maybe it doesn't like your SD card... Or... Aliens

ROM installed, first positive impressions :
- very smooth UI,
- 4.2 Android is very nice
- no problem installing hot fix nor installing the ROM itself
- date & time settings bug corrected thanks to Sparcot tip
- I've installed the apk I use every day, no problem.
- Baseband seems to be improved, seems to work better that previous one, am I wrong ?
the "bugs" :
- we can see Eastcom logo at boot between ThL image and ThL animation
- there is no more music on ThL animation at boot
- proximity sensor : while taping phone number with digital pad (for instance a long tap on 1 for reaching my answering machine), then I wait for earing the voice of my answering machine and then I put the phone on my ear : the proximity sensor does not hide the screen fastly enough, and the contact between the ear and the screen taps on a number (3 for instance). this was not happening with ThL W8 original ROM. I've tried to see in engineer mode to catch a settings but can't find anything about that.

- eastcom logo is somewhere burried in new UBOOT image - nothing we can do about. We need this image to be able to have display working.
- original Eastcom rom doesn't have bootsound. But if you want one you can simply take it from original rom. It is in /system/media
I personally find the boot sound annoying so I am glad it's gone
- not sure about proximity. Seems to be working fine here

Kitkat-Like Statusbar & NavBar
1st make sure that settings > storage > default install
location is set to device memory
2nd download xposed installer
Open it, goto framework and select install/update and
reboot
3rd after reboot, goto xposed installer> downloads and
search for TINTED STATUSBAR [BETA] and install it
Now after installing it goto xposed installer > modules
and check on the module and reboot
4th after reboot open tinted status bar app and goto
default settings
- Check link statusbar and navbar colors
- Check Respect kitkat API
- Change default statusbar tint color from "ff000000" to
"66000000"
-Do the same for default navigation bar color
5th Reboot
PS- Don't use any other statusbar transparency tweaks

Thanks for the ROM. Working smooth and as told,more free RAM. However,I don't like the Zenphone UI. ICan I replace it with any other system UI?

Thanks Trying different UIs now. However no luck in making GravityBox work so far. I tried various fixes like moving all Xposed modules to the internal memory,using direct GB .apk instead of installing from Xposed repo and so on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Whatever old and obsolete this device has become,I just don't feel to get rid of it.

Hey, I'm stuck with something. I flashed lollipop System UI (The one for Xperia C) with your ROM and after a few days, I'm facing the following issues.
-unable to boot to recovery. (Tried everything)
-unable to do factory reset of phone. Phone simple reboots as if nothing happened. (tried almost everything and even the remote wipe using google account)
-unable to enter into engineering menu
-unable to restore old roms using ROM manager app
-Phone just reboots while pressing powerbutton for a few seconds. No option to shutdown the phone (Using terminal emulator for it)
Phone is working fine but I'm not able to flash new ROM or do anything with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How Tow Setup/Install Recovery
Installation via Flash Tool (is in the archive)
1. Open Flash Tool;
2. On the Download tab, click to select Scatter-loading Scatter and select the file in the folder with rekaveri manner;
3. Wait until checked cheksummy;
4. Check that would stand Download only and was checked in the drop-down menu on the anti-Recovery;
5. Turn off the phone (without connecting to a computer);
6. Click the Download button (with a green arrow);
7. Connect your phone to a computer;
8. Wait until you see a check mark;
9. Disconnect the phone from the computer;
10. Simultaneously press both volume buttons and the power and hold it until the Lenovo logo, and then Knop power can be released, and when there was another logo - you can release the volume buttons;
11. To agree with the information on the initial screen (just svaypnite), it will not allow the phone to restore the standard rekaveri.
For those wishing to get Root
1. Click Install, and then click UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file and install it;
2. Wipe cache dalvika and - on request. If you do then keep in mind that after restarting the phone will be turned on for 10-15 minutes;
3. Profit.

Roll Back is Working Fine for me , and Also DoubleTap and Sweep to Wake both Working Too... No Touch issue etc....

you should note that the TWRP recovery you have is for Lolipop Official Rom only (and that flashing it on a KitKat rom or any other rom will cause swiping problems on the android os)

.My phone Lenovo A5000 had updated via OTA on 5.0.2. Now, I want to rollback to Official Kikat 4.4.2. But I worry about issues as laggy touch screen and no having OTG.

i Think Solution is Already Mentioned on First Page .. any way , RollBack working Fine for me , No Touch Lag No OTG Bug .
Just simply Flash S030 kitKat in Normal Way and then Flash This Custom Kernel , OTG and Lag Fix and also it has Gesture wake too (DT2W , S2W) ...

Anyway this 2.8.7 Recovery Never Worked for me after Roll Back, Tried TWRP v3 (Currently using ADB/Quick Reboot to reboot into Recovery , correct Combination don't Know ............. ) , Working Fine SO far , flashed CM 12.1 (5.1.1) without any Problem , just Found a minor Sound Bug ( Low Volume/Audio from Headphones and Speakers while on Call ) , Hope someone Fix it Soon ( did some googling , found a lot of people having this Issue ) , Also their is No Safe Eject for OTG which is Strange , And Hardware Acceleration BUG which causing some of Apps Not To Work Properly ( Like MX Player HW+ and SCR Recorder Pro) rest Working Awesome , Performance wise GOOD ( at least much lighter than that Vibe UI and MIUI )...

For MIUI8 multilingual V.6.7.7 Is a whole new Rom...so for that u will need only Philz recovery to be installed on ur phone...then follow usual procedure, means wipe data,dalvik & cache....in custom format option format system...then flash ROM....no need to flash GAPPS separately but for loud sound u will need provided sound patch which u can flash after First boot.

Bro atleast read some previous quotes already answered your question....and the reason why I gave latest V.6.7.7 as whole Rom bcoz Previous Rom has some glitches which I have fixed in Providing OTAs but drawback was Chinese Theme store & Original Chinese Video & Music App consumes Data which loads & updates Chinese ****....which every user annoys....so Decided to use Xiaomi.eu build in which they have fixed all.So NO more Chinese stuff inspite of China ROM.
However this China Rom might be the last.... thereafter will work on Global Stable (Beta) V.6.7.5 yet to come on 11th July.

Strange error... nobody has came across such bug yet.hope u complete first boot without inserting SIM & not connecting to WIFI.

Previously I have flashed 6.6.30 n created an mi account on my a350 nd now i am receiving that msg when I don connect to any network and wen I connect to wifi then imei error comes and I m stuck..

Yes u will stuck dere....coz Mi account will be logged in Only when ur device has Valid IMEI....after First boot very first thing u need to do is to restore ur IMEI...after that restart ur device & ur now able to log in with Mi Account.

Cool Down Bro....U must be missing something.if u facing issues with 6.7.7....skip it.Have Uploaded Newly Released MIUI8 Global Developer V.6.7.5 just Now...go check out Here.
However MIUI8 Can be Flash usual way...or u can just clean to install.follow post installation steps.I hope this time u wont stuck nowhr...:good::good::good:
N.B.This will be Whole Rom Again....and cannot be provided as in OTA form....coz MIUI8 getting more Stable day by day so Xiaomi releases 1st beta build for all Global users....all previous ROMS available on my MIUI8 Forum was China Build.so just wanted so clear this...

Any app related to torrent like bittorrent and utorrent gives FC. Any solution?

Flashing this firmware on a 500mb nand chip
Has the following storage results upon first boot
Data/ 62.9mb (was originally 20MB)
System/ 42.3mb (was originally 9KB)
If you wish to flash this to a bigger nand chip simply change the start address and length addresses in the scatter to match your devices partition info

as these R11 max only come with a 512mb NAND chip with OS installed there is only 42.3mb Data storage after flash of my firmware,using the modified boot.img allows you to use the devices SD card as the devices ROM & internal storage,
This has not been implemented into the build due to firmware size when pulling,
If you wish to use the modifed Boot.img and SD card you MUST partition the SD card BEFORE flashing the firmware if you wish to use the boot.img which is OPTIONAL rom will work fine without it,
Partition your SD card as follows with 2 partitions in this exact order EXT 4 Cannot be first or you will face data decryption error until rectified.
•PRIMARY partition - FAT32
•PRIMARY partition - EXT4 (label it mmcblk0p2)
To flash with modified boot.img follow steps above for SD card, and steps below for flashing.

FLASHING THE FIRMWARE

EMMC storage devices are NOT compatible
Unless you change the scatter to support your file system and even then it may require porting still.
Open SP flash tool, and open the scatter.file and change flash method to download only and click download, plug the device in while switched off and the device will flash,
DO NOT USE "format all + download" unless you have a backup of your firmware and security partition or you WILL lose your imei.

Attention all users of R11 max,
A New build will be up in a week maximum, Google play is functional, i have also built a custom recovery for this model R11_Max however wont be released until the new rom is released.
Thread will be updated here with new links when its ready.

New rom is not far away now for the R11 MAX im just finishing up some minor touchups in the meantime i have built a number of custom recoveries for the phones due to 1 there not being any available at all for it & 2 all recovery porting tools do not work with this phone so manually built a number of different styles,versions etc theres TWRP, CTR, CWM, etc even an OPPO touch recovery even that i also managed to build enjoy,

Note all R11 max users,
A new rom will be released for this device by me in the near future when released it is advised to update to the latest build, modded with CM but stock 4.4.4 unfortunately that is all i am able to upgrade it to, 6.0 build i am scrapping for now i can get 6.0 apps to install but they just will not run most not at all,
Another note though ive managed to modify the boot.img some more to swap not only the data from
"ubifs" "UBI" "userdata" "/data" to
"Ext4 "EMMC" "/dev/block/platform/mtk-msdc.1/by-num/p2 (EXTERNAL SD)
but also system from
"ubifs" "UBI" "system" "/system" to
"ext4" EMMC" "/dev/block/mmcblk0p3" "/system" (SDCARD)
Not sure if i can get a rom functional to boot from it but TWRP recognises it aswell as mounts & formats it correctly, some useful info incase anyone else wants to give it a go also

All R11 users please be aware that a new build will be uploaded today or tomorrow latest which is a full AOSP CyanogenMod 11 flashable zip,
I will link the thread here was built for hs_q6_mb
But should work on all other variants as long as you use your stock boot.img

In hospital atm, once im out i may be able to help you out but your R11 max MUST have the exact same imei number or unfortunately i cannot provide it due to it being a federal crime in most states and countries to change it to something other than what it should be, however if your imei matches as i beleive it will due to having the same board model than my test device then i will happily provide you every needed file to restore your imei
To confirm our imeis match can you provide me only the first 4 numbers and the last 4 numbers so i can cross reference when i have access to my pc and if match ill upload to google drive and pm you the link to files please DO NOT write your entire imei out here just the first and last 4 digits will suffice.
On another note please do not use the stock firmware these came with they are riddled with adware and spyware, aswell as patched apps to steal your info even the launcher downloads spyware if you would like to use a custom rom i suggest checking out my CyanogenmodOS 11.0 i created for R11 max id suggest to use build #002 as build #003 has a google play issue you could try to flash that to restore your imei in the meantime see the OP for download links
