[Help] Unlocking LTE Band 3 (1800) in DROID Maxx - Motorola Droid Maxx

Hi all, This is my first post on XDA so bear with me ..
I have Verizon Droid Maxx running 4.4.4 build SU6-7.2, in other words I am in a most unlucky position as I've read the threads on XDA for my solution.
The thing is I want to enable LTE band 3 as it is the only operative band of LTE where I live. I bought it because it was reasonable for me without thoroughly checking its working lte bands(lol who does that , ok I must have done that ).
Well, I love its battery life, active screen n all and changing it is not an option now bcs I m a bit broke
So all I want is to enable the lte band 3. I have gone through some guides where they say that it can be done in qualcomm devices so I m keeping my hopes high.
So, if someone have any idea, want to share his thoughts on this topic or have a guide that can help me please do share.
Thanks

Any way to enable 3G on the Touch Pro from India?

Hi everyone,
This is my first post here after joining this forum. I recently bought an HTC Touch Pro in India after alot of review. Sadly after buying the unit I realized HTC decided not to include 3G in the Indian version. I bought it blindly thinking they wouldn't be any discrepancy in the TP review units on sites such as gsmarena and infosync world but the TP box proved otherwise.
Now I study in the US and was hoping to use the 3G connection offered by T-mobile otherwise i'll resort to EDGE. My question is whether or not my TP actually has a 3G chipset which is disabled by HTC and can be enabled somehow or have they not installed one?
Thank you
3g
you could unlock the spl and install a custom rom (or a htc WWE stock rom). After installing the custom rom if ur phone has the 3g chip it will start working. Mostly the network and 3g are part of a single chip. So most probably 3g will start working after installing the custom rom. good luck.
Hey! Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm new to flashing ROM and the other procedures you have mentioned. Is it possible for you to direct me a bit more as to exactly how am I supposed to go about what you said?
Thank you

Do you have a HTC Touch Pro aka Raphael that comes from Europe? If so, no 3G as of yet. Actually, right now only way you'll get 3G is with the Fuze.
I ask because I am not familiar with India's phone infrastructure, providers, etc
Now some background of what's going on so you'll know if and why you won't have 3G:
HTC touch pro specs
Notice that HSDPA is only available on these frequencies:
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
For AT&T 3G frequencies are 850/1900 and for T-Mobile, I read they use 1700 and 2100mhz but I suggest you look around a bit more.
Finally, here'es THE thread about enabling the missing bands(frequencies) on the Touch Pro, some people are still working on it, progress has been made, but so far, no 3G in North America.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420865
Ps.: Flashing to a new ROM is still a good idea, some of the ROMs in this forum will give a vert healthy performance boost to your phone!
I suggest you read this forum for a few days and especially this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
and get comfortable with the concepts, it's really easy and simple once you understand the basics.
Enjoy!
Hi labbby!
Thanks for the reply and info. I'm not sure if my TP came from europe not or. Just says tri-band on mine. Apart from that I'll look into flashing my ROM.
Thanks again!

[Q] How to change the radio band to work on 3G in 900Hz?

Greetings, I am new to the forum.
**** I searched every post, but I have not found a solution, or not understood enough to solve my problem. Who is next, and if someone can tell me if this is possible:
I live in Venezuela, and I have a Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket (AT & T), which is only working with EDGE because my carrier (DIGITEL), uses the 900 band for 3G, and as you should know this is not the using my phone.
Is there any way I can change this to work with my operator, was thinking about flashing CM9, and that radio band recommended me to use.
I have followed some tutorials on this forum, but no positive results, such as the total signal loss and now has an echo when I make the phone calls.

Had you spent a little longer searching you would have found that 3g bands are hardware dependent. To change them you would have to replace the antenna and them decode the device to work on this band. Not very easy. Your better off getting a different device.

[Q] How to get my Motorola Photon Q on boost

I haven't been able to find too much info on it. I found a Chinese translation for editing Motorola ESN/MEID #'s. I know there are people out there with this wonderful phone on boost. I was hoping to find out more information.
Any information leading up to me getting my phone on boost will be much appreciated.
I may even put a bounty on it.
I currently have a Samsung Transform Ultra on Boost and it is almost 3 years old. Sadly, it's now dieing and has become difficult for me to use.
I can't give up my keyboard phone. No matter what you say.
??
I wasn't able to find any way to edit ESN/MEID. A user accidently deleted (somehow) his/her ESN/MEID and can't get the phone to work correctly.
I don't remember the thread but you may find it by searching all threads I've posted within this section.
There aren't very much, so it isn't that hard.
PS: I don't know what you mean with "on boost".

Boost is a pre-paid carrier here in the USA. They were a subsidiary of Nextel I think... Now it's Sprint.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boost_Mobile
Any Takers?
I know this thread is a year old, but I did not want to create a new one when this one already existed.
I called Boost Mobile and tried to have them swap my handset to the Photon Q, the lady said that the device was incompatible with their services.
I didn't really get that seeing that Boost Mobile still uses the CDMA EV-DO Revision A for 3G speeds. The Photon Q has this Radio/hardware and configuration. The only thing I saw that could be stopper is, I did a side by side comparison with the HTC SV One and the Motorola Photon Q on phonearena and checked the 4G LTE and the bands both phones used. The Photon Q has the 1900 Mhz band for 4G LTE while the HTC SV One has more (700, 800, 1700/2100, 1800, 1900, 2600 MHz)
although by the comparison the Photon Q may/may not receive a 4G LTE signal from Boost Mobile, it should still be compatible with 3G using EV-DO and below (1xRTT)
would anyone with more savvy than myself know of a way to get this phone on the Boost Mobile network. It is common knowledge that the Boost Mobile network is a scaled down, no roaming, Sprint network. this is a Sprint Phone. 4G aside, it should work.
The phone is not so old that Sprint/Boost will not allow it on the network. I currently use a phone older than the Photon Q with Boost Mobile and I have no issues. I just want to upgrade to this phone. and of course i am using clean ESN/MEID's
any takers?
here's my research. (remove the remark blocks)
/*phonearena.com/phones/compare/HTC-One-SV,Motorola-PHOTON-Q-4G-LTE/phones/7570%2C7253*/
thanks!
Bump for an unanswered question, and a good thread.
Good Luck, OP.
Maybe the Photon Q devices are not 'whitelisted'?
If your informations are correct, there is no reason not to work with boost.
Bump.
Thinking about taking my Photon Q LTE or a used Samsung S4 to Boost or FreedomPop,
Thanks.

[Completed] Noob in need of radio/modem flashing information

Hello,
I recently purchased a note 5 duos SM-N9208 from Taiwan. I was led to believe that the device was unlocked GSM, but had EV-DO capabilities. My understanding was that this would work on Verizon's network, because it had both radio chips inside. I was told by Verizon that "there is no approved way" for them to get me up and running on their network. The tech made a point of saying there is a difference between approved, and no way. This leads me to believe that something can be done. I'm wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me out. Phone is running original Rom, unrooted, and is basically useless to me right now, as I'm desperately clinging on to my unlimited data with Verizon. Is it possible to root the device, and flash the modem with Verizon note 5 baseband info? Any help anyone can offer would be very much appreciated.

Hi, and welcome to XDA!
When I looked up the specs on the Note 5 Duos, unfortunately it says nothing about CDMA. Having both "radio chips inside" can be taken two ways, in this case, this phone has the capability to handle two GSM carriers (and in this case, like most dual-sim phones, only the first SIM can do 3G/4G/LTE speeds).
Network Technology GSM / HSPA / LTE
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE
Speed HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE
GPRS Yes
EDGE Yes

It seems the only option (if you want to use this phone), is to join a GSM carrier like AT&T, T-Mobile, or one of their MVNO's (like MetroPCS).
Hope this helps.

Thank you, Joel! I'm excited to learn as much as possible from tgis forum. I actually changed over to T-Mobile, and have been good for the most part. The problem i'm having now is related to finding a way to flash the radio to all of their Rf's. I rooted, and attempted to flash the modem and bootloader from N920T, but it failed. I am still having a hard timr understanding why the identical hardware will not accept firmware from different model numbers. Again, very inexperienced, so it may be something very obvious i dont know about. If could offer any assistance, or provide and thread links that may be useful, i wpuld very grateful. Ive been searching nonstop, reading, and still cant seem to find a way.

Well, the hardware (particularly the modem) is not compatible, hance the failed install. You are lucky it cancelled out as you could have had worse problems on your hands.
The way i see it, you will have to wait for other regions for the Note 5 Duos to open up before you get flashing options. I would even question the need for that, if you get a decent range of bands with T-Mo (I am assuming you can get 4G).
If you want to explore further anyway, please check out this thread:

It did, thank you! I get decent service (including LTE) almost everywhere. Problem is, once I get to my.house, I go completely out of service. No call.I no text. It wouldn't be a big deal, but the Taiwanese phone doesn't have a way to turn WiFi calling.

Aha. That and no sign of the 700mHz band (which may not be part of your phone anyway, not just hidden by the current firmware).
Since the firmware would need deep support of Wifi Calling (or VoLTE), as in more than just an App, I am afraid you will have to wait until the Duos releases into an area with that support in their firmware (and hope that, that area's firmware doesn't disable a frequency you use).
Makes scraping all the lead paint[*] off the house the more manageable task, doesn't it?
[*] I really don't know if your house does indeed have lead paint. I am assuming it's coated in something metal, or concrete, which avoids typically high frequency radio waves from entering. I never had that problem with my house (which may be strange, since it was built in the 40's), but maybe creating ways to boost the existing signal may be in order instead.

Help with adding LTE band 2 (1900 mhz)

Hi guys,
So... basically I want to add the LTE band 2 (1900 mhz) since my carrier here in México (Movistar) uses that band. ( I cannot change my carrier since the sim belongs to my employer )
The long story is this:
For a long time I've been trying to get the LTE signal working on my M8 testing several ROMs, but I just discovered (a couple of weeks ago) that this won't be possible since the verizon M8 doesn't have that band enabled.
Based on that, I gave up and installed the NuSenSeveN ROM to check if it was possible to use another carrier's LTE service here in México. So... with this ROM, I was able to use Telcel's LTE band (4 - 1700 mhz) just by using one of this carrier's chip. With that in mind I'm thinking on selling this device to someone who has a contract with this carrier and buy a new phone that have my carrier's LTE band enabled.
But... something in my mind wanted to do the last attempt and searching I found the post about adding disabled bands to all Qualcomm devices, and optimistic as my mind is... here I am thinking that it may be possible to keep my m8 and being able to use my carrier's LTE service!!!
I know this is no easy task and that I should do everything I can to try to test this on my own, but since I found the post for adding bands for Qualcomm devices I've read almost the whole thread.. in almost a week now, and I haven't been able to do any progress on the matter so... I really hope someone with expertise can help me.
I also know no one here helps thinking about money but I know I'm not asking for something easy, probably its not even possible, ( I also know there are no guaranties that anything will work for sure)... so I'm willing to donnate for the help. I don't know if it's is forbidden to ask for this in xda, if it is, please let me know, I'll delete this post and restrain myself from doing the same in the future.
So, I'll explain the situation,
I've reviewed the main post about this matter here in xda,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269
And similar posts like these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/general/lte-band-7-2600mhz-finally-guide-t2992523
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/help/assistant-unlocking-lte-bands-t3213956
Basically from those posts I was trying to follow @regspy steps.. but I've had troubles with adb (I'm on Windows 10) and I've tried to install several drivers but all I've tried keeps giving me the "offline" result with the "adb devices" command, so I'm not able to go any further.
And here I am hoping someone can help me trough Team Viewer, if someone can help me please tell me, or if someone knows for sure this is not possible it'll also help me to quit on this task haha.
Thanks in advance.
PS. This is my M8's current state
This is my bootloader screen:

Also, I'm currently running the next ROM:
