Hi. I just bought a galaxy s6, and I notice that the resolution in some games (Real Racing 3) is really low, even with the 1440p display. Is there a way to change to a higher resolution? And no, there is no way to do it in the game, I have tried. And also, I don't have root and I'm not planning to root it in the future.
And the Game Tuner app by Samsung is not supported s

Real racing 3 just has crappy resolution on every phone and you cannot change it. At least were the only ones that play it at 60fps at least

True bro, true
the developers should work on improving its resolution.....if the S6 had 1080p it would look better.....because when you have a bigger resolution the picture have to expand to the full resolution....i think...

Does anyone encounters an issue where the app doesn't support the increased resolution provided by the tablet? I was just reading a cNet review and an example given was the marvel comics app. I'm not really interested in using the tablet for productivity. It's more of media consumption device and playing simple games like plants vs zombies.
And I won't buy tegra games as that locks me in. Thanks
Most of the apps that aren't supported, will work if they are sideloaded. They will not be high resolution though, and may not scale properly.

since 1920x1200 is not common (I've only seen 3 tablets using it), does that mean most apps won't display it properly? just somehow doubt devs will be updating their apps for something that is not common.
Yes, some apps will not display like should, but most of them will work. Some devs are working on updating their apps, but the majority still use low resolution displays.
Since most devs only make their apps for phones any HD tablet will have issues with the resolution. Most of them are also too stupid/lazy/arrogant to use proper scaling..
I especially 'love' the idiots who make an app for the iPad, and then convert it for android, and the android app doesn't support higher resolutions than a crappy 720....
Lots of disappointing crapplications in Google Play or Amazon apps.
Me usually tries to stick to HD versions like Office Pro HD.
Try searching "HD" in play...you'll get over 63000 app results.

Yup,
Wallpapers are easy to "develop" lol...
Sometimes when cruising the store the good app builders offer trial HD versions of the free versions.
Not most...a few do.
Back in June this year there was hardly anything HD wise.

Was very interested in getting an infinity but this lack of apps that will use the resolution and the lack of apps with UI optimized for tablets is what's holding me back. try again next year I guess
Here are some gameplay vids showing how the S4 I9500 (Exynos) handles some of the top games right now.
Note: I will update this thread when more gameplay vids are available.
Modern Combat 4
Real Racing 3
Shadowgun Dead Zone
Into The Dead
Commando D-Day
Grand Theft Auto 3 & Real Racing 3
Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Sonic 4, Ravensword 2, Modern Combat 4
I think it's too early to tell whether games run well. Most of them won't be optimised and hence lag(as seen in RR3).
Anyways, thanks for the videos!
Lag!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
It's not that laggy, but it's certainly not looking all that great at the moment. Maybe that will get sorted later on.
handle it pretty nice
It`s fake. This guy uploaded a clip with the settings menu. As you`ve seen in the reviews the settings menu has a white background, in this guy`s video is all black, so it`s probably an S3 with a custom ROM.
This is the clip i`m talking about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g6EckHlI_s
That's not an S3, look at the bezel and the sensors.
Maybe, but he didn`t show the whole phone, only the front, so i can asume it`s some modified S3 variant or something.
Anyway, the black background of the menu definitely isn`t present in the S4`s TW.

I think you should look around more, just watched a danish review of the S4 and settings menu was indeed black.

I should hope so too.
Well, I don't think it's going to change much from whats seen here, what may happen though, is improved optimization on the game developer end.
RR3 never runs smooth on any Android device, true story.
It's pretty like a port from iOS version.
The first page has been updated.
Another video with GTA3 and RR3 :

This video is for i9505 snapdragon version. We want to see how exynos octa will handle those games.
Wysłane z Galaxy S3
Oh, yeah , i forgot .
So then we have a confirmation that the snapdragon handles better RR3 than the Exynos version
We have to wait for the final exynos firmware on galaxy s4 and then we will see which one is better.

Just read a review for G5, while its not my cup of tea it does wipe the floor with s7 in gaming due to less throttling and better coding.
http://www.techspot.com/review/1175-lg-g5/page4.html
It just super annoying
I think the solution will arrive when there is a custom kernel available. Then you will be able to choose which governor to use.
I think we won't have to wait too much...

They just found the one benchmark where the G5 is actually good and build an article around it. I have an xbox one and a ps4 so I couldn't care less about the s7 edge throttling my freecell. Have you even tried the G5? It is fast, the camera is great and that's it. I bought one on Thursday and posted it on Kijiji on Tuesday.

the point is the Note 5 was the perfect gaming device for me, it the only phone that rank tekken 6 at 60fps on QHD resolution and never get too hot, fps didn't drop at all!!!
After 6.0.1 update it all went to hell, same with S7 and the S7 is capable of much more.
Fake for me because I had z5 and g5 and this device was hotter then s7 edge check YouTube g5 going to 46 Celsius degree s7 edge max to 40 and throttling is bigger on g5
Exynos on pe9
First run 32k I basemark x on hight
Second run : 18k
3 run: 26 k
4 run 32k
5 run 32k
6 run 32k
7.8.8.10 run 32 k
On outside with auto brightest
Sooo yeah phone was cool maybe 35 Celsius
benchmarks means nothing, test it in real games. it barely plays tekken dark resurrection and stutter endlessly, if ppsspp not crashing due to samsung stupid driver error, on Note 5 it works 60 fps ALL THE TIME!!!
All until sammy 6.0.1, that update ruined gaming for me on both devices.
I fix my problem with need for speed with bad fps.
Try this: open game tuner (instal it if dont have it)
Go to setings and then to aplication category. Search for your game and select that is not a game.
Then try again and see 60fps+

This trick will also prevent it from changing screen modes.
I think that made the trick that I hopelessly waited for so long, thank you, I will try it more to obtain a conclusive result but, currently my problems seem to have gone
Didn't notice any difference in games like Temple Run Oz - a game which used to run fluently with highest settings on a Nexus 2013... It's unplayable, regardless if set as game or not.
Changing to governor to performance temporarely fixes the problem completely though.

As another poster said, it doesnt work.
Marvel Champions still drops down to 30fps lock pretty damn quickly, killing the fluidity of it.
Looking like custom kernels are the only way to fix this mess that Samsung have created.

There is no need for a custom kernel. You can just disable GameMode with Package Disabler Pro.

it's not working for everyone, i disabled it and it didn't help at all, my games are cpu intensive and GPU intensive, but ran perfect on Note 5 before 6.0.1, there is no hope, samsung never gonna fix it.

Did nothing sadly.
Custom kernel seemed to just make it look like 30fps on crack (responsiveness of 60fps, with judder of 30fps).

Report it to Samsung if you haven't yet. I hope they're aware of this issue already though, and this is (luckily) a pure software issue though, so no need to freak out

i reported, posted two different video's on youtube, went through several sammy channels, and they said they will forward it further... but tbh nothing will happen.
I did the same with Note 5 on 21 Feb, when it got 6.0.1 and performance in games were poor, very very poor, going back to 5.1.1 made it perfect again, again samsung will never care for it.
its killing me on marvel contest of champions. thiking about returning the damn phone and that sucks... otherwise i love it but if u spend an hour a day or more gaming it becomes unbearable

that true, i wouldn't advise gaming on S7, it pure crap at that, on software level, at least with root u can make it managable, idk how sammy fail so hard at a simple task...
You actually need a custom kernel, set big cores to blu_active governor and everything works at 60fps
ondemand seems to do the trick too, but heck we need to root for this.
Hello, to all.
First of all this will not brick your device but I highly suggest to make a nandroid backup to begin with and I am not responsible if anything goes wrong. If you soft brick or hard brick your device i am not responsible.
I only tested this app on the Oneplus 3 and 3T
This is an app that REQUIRES ROOT! Sorry for anyone who isn't rooted :crying:
It does work, but be warned that you should not mess around with is app like changing resolution from 1080p to 1440p then 720p.
I used this app myself and i changed my resolution to QHD, it seems to work and it has little affect on my battery life.
I have tried other apps but they don't work as intended.
I used device info apps and all of them said that my display has 1440 x 2560 resolution which is not suppose to happen
I hope this helps especially to the ones who want a higher resolution display
The purpose of this app is to change the build.prop of your resolution and pixel density.
You've gotta be joking ...
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
Just try it. It works for me and i got no problems. QHD display and Dolby Atmos, great combination
Resolution is a hardware thing... You can never change it. The app just fools by changing maybe build.prop and nothing else and that's why they show quad hd display in applications you use.
Either way it's still awesome that you have *QHD Even though it doesn't really have QHD.
This litterally.just made me spit my drink out with laughter.
Congratulations man, you made my night :good:
I can turn mine I to a Galaxy S8 too by getting a launcher and changing build.prop settings too
can you make my display HDR too please?

Is it possible to change the resolution down to HD? I want it for Gaming. Less Usage = Smoother Gameplay?
April Fools came late maybe
April Fool's Day was almost 2weeks ago.
You must be joking. The hardware is FHD. haha even if you play QHD, you won't get QHD cause the screen does not have the extra pixel for it.

The A50 has just recieved a 120fps camera mod.
There are numerous sources that confirm that the S9 is capable of this.
[Unfortunately as i am a lurker and do not have an account i cannot post links yet so you will have to search yourselves but the sources are numerous]
It is quite obvious that Samsung limited this feature, perhaps in order to segment their branding or because they felt that it was too unstable.
Does anyone know if there is an existing mod for this?
I have a 144hz monitor and would love to start capturing footage I can watch at a higher framerate.
Thanks

Oh i thought you were a developer. The S9 can record at 240fps but the actual video is only exported in 60fps and plays at 60fps. I can tell by comparing actual 120fps video with slow mo video i recorded myself without exporting it.

guys.. just open the camera and go to the settings and chose 720p as a resloution.. it will record and export in 240fps and you can do whatever it is that you want with it!
