Hudl 2 Lollipop Update - Miscellaneous Android Development

My step sons Hudl 2 said it had the update last night, I restarted and it 'installed', well... no it didn't still on 4.4.2
I have since rooted the Hudl 2 to get rid of the crappy Tesco Apps and now want to Update to Lollipop, for some reason (this also happened before the root). It says that the system is up to date
Does anyone have the Lollipop update so I can manually install it? Will be very pleased if anyone does as there are some games that just won't run on 4.4.2 (well I'm assuming that as both mine and the 'other halfs' phones run the games he wants).
Kind Regards
GiGo

I'm currently searching the web for this, if I manage to do it I will let you know. don't update it normally as you will get stuck in a loop. It won't update it if it's rooted but it will wipe your device first

[Q] Anyone know what the new AT&T LG G2 update is?

Got a notification this morning that there was a new update available for KitKat. I do not know what the update is as I postponed it. I am currently running KitKat 4.4.2 Kernel version 3.4.0. The build is D80020c. I am rooted. I have no other information except that it shows that an update is pending but it will not tell me what the update is and I do not know where to find out what it is.
Anyone have any ideas as to what this is? I am concerned because the last time an update rolled out, it soft bricked my rooted phone.
I spoke with tech support at AT&T and they claim that they do not know what it is and suggested that I call LG for an answer.....

Don't install it, it jacked up my phone. I was running the rooted mixed partition D80020c and I can't boot or get into download mode now. All I get it a constant reboot back to recovery. Cannot install another ROM, cannot restore a backup. My daughter was playing with my phone and pushed to continue with the install and now I'm trying to unscrew it.

Is there any way to force a not install or deny it? The only option I have is to postpone the install and after 4 hours, it will run again and continue to run every 4 hours unless I find a way to break the cycle. How do I force a no install option?
That is what happened to me last time with the "q" update. I postponed the install (no option to not take it) and it installed itself after 4 hours when I left my phone on one night. I woke up to a bricked phone.....

I don't know how to permanently disable the update, but I'm sure there's a way. As info, I was able to easily fix my phone with the help of this thread posted by @thecubed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696. I didn't read it all, but this might be what disables the update.
I'm not rooted. I took the latest update and all is fine. It's google+ fixes and Google wallet support. It actually let me set up tap & pay! I'll have to go somewhere to try it out.

I got the notification too but figured that it would probably screw things up since I'm rooted and running TWRP so I did a little searching and came across this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50454408&postcount=3 . It's been a few hours since I changed the setting and haven't seen the update notification again although AT&T pushed the update into CACHE/FOTA sometime this morning.
Well scratch that, the notification just came back. I'll try freezing it now.
Well if rooted just use TB to freeze software update. I am also running a mixed partition D80020c. I am on Straight Talk AT&T. Before rooting I tried taking the official OTA of KitKat but for some reason you can't enter an APN type so I couldn't get or send MMS. So I flashed back to the D firmware, rooted, added custom recovery, entered the APN type and then flashed the modified C firmware. You could also use Root Freezer instead of Titanium Backup to freeze

[Q] Last Resort... Need Help.

Phone: Motorola Moto G XT1032
OS: Android 4.4.4
Let me start by saying that I am new here, and I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask for help, but here I go anyway...
I am in desperate need of assistance. Against all better judgment, I rooted my phone a few months ago and now I am in a "pickle" so to speak. I recently recieved the Android 5.0.2 OTA Update notification. I have attempted multiple times to install this update but each and every time I do so, it returns me (after rebooting) a message along the lines of "software update was unsuccessful". I have sifted through some posts online with no avail. I am not the best person when it comes to my phone, however I do know how to get around on a computer.
I guess I should also add that I read somewhere that the phone must be un-rooted before attempting to upgrade, however, I have alrady attempted to do so with the "Full Unroot" option in SuperSu, but the only thing that seemed to have happened is the app is now deleted.
Another thing, I only rooted my phone and did not install any of the recovery programs like CWM or TWRP. This is stock android and no Custom ROM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have been waiting for Andoid L for a very long time and am very upset that I am having all these issues trying to use it.
Thank you for listening and look forward to seeing if anyone can help me.
DubstepCanada.
What you may try to want to do is to find the factory stock image online for which ever version you have and run it then upgrade to each new version till you get to lollipop update. Yes you will lose all of your data but if lollipop is what you want that is probably what your gonna have to do. Every time a factory update is available on Motorola before it does the update it will check for every app and checks file system and recovery. Anything out of the ordinary and it will usually not upgrade it. So if I was you look for the stock factory image of 4.4.4 and update to lollipop 5.0.2.
Alternatively flash a custom recovery, TWRP or Philz Touch, and then do a factory reset and flash one of the zips in this collection:

Less risk and you keep your photos etc.

[Q] xt1032 not upgrading to lollipop

All I am sorry if this has been asked as I cannot find the same issue when I search
I was offered the lollipop upgrade via OTA today. I downloaded and rebooted as it asked. Then since I have my phone rooted with TWRP the TWRP screen came up and I tried and install.. that failed obviously, again rebooted into TWRP and then chose to boot to system, it looked like it was upgrading packages and then i looked a few minutes later and it showed my phone was not updated.
Now when I go to the options/about phone/software upatdate it says that I am up to date and I am at 4.4.4..
Can anyone help? I would really like to get lollipop on there without losing all my data.
TIA
Hi, have a look here, it worked perfectly for me and i didn't lose any data.

Unable to Install 5.1.1 OTA Update for Verizon SM-P905V

I was able to install the first of the two updates earlier for the 5.1.1 update on my Verizon Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The second downloads, prompts for install, reboots and begins installing but errors out and reboots back into the OS home screen. The Verizon software update manager shows Failed software update error code 402. I have factory reset my tablet a couple of times and still same issue. I do not have my tablet rooted and no apps disabled.
I downloaded the latest available Samsung firmware md5 file, version VZW-P905VVRUANK1-20141205133604 and tried flashing using Odin 3.07 while in download mode. It starts and after a few seconds, Odin fails and on the tablet screen, I get the error, SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1. I have re-downloaded the firmware along with older versions and still same issue.
I was reading somewhere that my tablet could be "soft bricked" and that is why it will not install the second part of the OTA. As for the Odin/download mode error, I had read that the firmware version I am trying to flash in Odin has an older version of bootloader than my current and Samsung does not let you downgrade the bootloader. I may be wrong on both accounts, which is why I am seeing if anyone else has had this same issue or have any advice on what I can try.
Thanks in advance!
Same here. I unforze all the apps unintstalled SU and factory reset still no dice. VZW repair assistant wont work or smart switch. RA says device firmware not supported and smart switch says im up to date. The first part of the update installed no problem.

I had the exact same issues. Here's what I did with my 4.4.2 Rooted NP. I wiped it completely from within the device, then connected it and to the VZW software and let it do a "Repair". After that, my tablet also said that it was up to date, still on 4.4.2. I let it sit overnight and tried downloading the software update the next morning from the tablet, and it took both of them. My NP is rocking 5.1.1. now, much faster. No root but that's alright for now. By running the repair assistant from VZW, it also got rid of the Unlocked Symbol, which may have prevented the upgrade in the first place.

I was able to get mine to update using ODIN and the firmware file from sammoble. Factory reset on the tablet, factory reset in recovery and finally ODIN worked.
I was having the same problems as the OP listed. Once I decided to live without root and I would be okay with wiping the tablet, I performed exactly what dansto82 said he did and I'm now on 5.1.1.
Now hoping someone comes up with a way to root.
Hey, I have the p905v and it is running 4.4.4, I rooted it with towelroot and it was completely fine. I then tried putting twrp recovery on it the wrong way through flashify and now I don't have a recovery mode and can't update it to 5.1.1. Other than that the tablet runs perfectly fine. Is there a way I can fix it?

Unable to update to Android 5.1 Lollipop

I had purchased my Shield brand new some years back from Gamestop when they were quietly being discontinued. Not only that, but the employee told me because of that, whatever remaining inventory each Gamestop had was being recalled back to Nvidia. There was only one left on my area so I bought it right away for $150 brand new . It came with Jellybean and I had only did one OTA update which brought it up to 4.4.2 KitKat. This past December I decided to finally unlock the bootloader (the warranty long ran out so I had nothing to lose) and root it afterwards. I followed this thread to unlock the bootloader and this post to gain root access. Both worked great :good:. I never bothered updating to Lollipop because it doesn't have Miracast and I like the dark theme of the KitKat version of Android better. I just looks nicer to me. So I was going to leave the OS as is since everything was functioning as I wanted it to.
However, starting this year, the Nvidia Shield hub app no longer works and has been replaced with a newer app called Nvidia Games. The thing is, it only works on Android 5.0 or higher . I have also seen people mention on Youtube that using that app, you can install Steam through it, which has a beta feature that starts it in Big Picture mode. This supposedly allows you to stream any Steam game without the need of an Nvidia card or the need of a PC . After reading that I wanted to update to Lollipop right away. This sounds to good to be true, but if it is, I will be ultra happy.
I wanted to make a nandroid back up before updating, so I followed this thread to install the TRWP recovery. I was able to make a nandroid backup and restore it without issues. Then I rebooted and
went in the Shield settings menu to check for updates and it downloaded update 110. It said to restart and it would install, so I did. Initially it looks like the update was working. But then it gets stuck in a boot loop showing either the Nvidia Shield logo or the green Android guy with a panel open on it's chest. :crying:
I also tried installing the Lollipop update using the method described in this thread. It unfortunately didn't work.
Then I attempted through fastboot to flash stock stock recovery that I extracted from the OTA, but it fails saying: "(command write failed (No such device or address))"
So all my attempts to install Lollipop aren't working. Is it due to having root and the TWRP recovery installed and not the stock recovery?
