Hi guys,
I'm an Htc user from 2013 (m7 and m9 now) and I really enjoy sense interface, but after 2 years I want to try something new.
Do you think that z5 would be a real upgrade or just a waste of money?
Inviato dal mio HTC One M9 utilizzando Tapatalk
Dunno bout z5 but its a high end device n so its a real costly. If u want something powerful den I personally urge u to have oneplus device. Coz I own oneplus one. Moreover u will get many developers oneplus to mod ur oneplus handset. Real powerful handset fits in budget. But its totally up to u to have z5. Anyways all the best for ur new handset
Had HTC M9 as well. Z5 is a nice upgrade. I like sense too but I also enjoy Sony UI. Only step down with moving from M9 to Z5 is audio. I think Z5 nails of but as usual with Sony devices, could use a little more volume, both external speakers and through headphones. M9 wins that battle.
I'm fan of htc since desire. Had allmost all the flagship. And sense is the best ui for Android. Recently I got z5, compare to my m9 only things is better is the awesome camera. Which is excellent. M9 Camera just disappoint me in inside scene. To be honest if camera is important to u then upgrade other then don't bother. Z5 is premium handset but they give a typical headphone on oem box. Which is totally disappointing and remind me old Nokia days.

Thank you.
No, I don't do a lot of photos, and for my usage m9 camera is enough.
So it's not worthy? The only upgrade would be the fingerprint sensor?
Inviato dal mio HTC One M9 utilizzando Tapatalk
Yea.finger print always work flawlessly. And for pin lock screen u don't need to press enter like htc pin lock screen. After u entered pin it just unlock auto.
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
They use the same processor and general the same spec. The only "upgrade" would be the camera and fingerprint scanner. Speakers would be a downgrade
Yeah, thank you guys, I thought a little about it and I think I'll stay with my m9, at the moment there isn't a real upgrade on the market.

honestly depend on what your usage is....
If you value Photos and rooting and custom roms get samsung, If you value the front facing speaker stay with HTC, if you value waterproof and Dust proof then get the z5, there is also a samsung galaxy s6 active.

Samsung's 2015 handsets are not custom rom friendly at all due to closed-source exynos 7420. Htc devices are definitely more developpers friendly, and so are sony's flagships, except that Sony use a nonsense DRM system that disable features on your phone i f ya unlock da bootloader.

What you call "custom roms" are crappy-touchwiz-based ones (those are a bit modified stock Samsung roms). What I call true custom roms are AOSP-based ones, such as Cyanogenmod. It's a matter of point of view.
I'd say stick with the M9. The speakers are much better.
I came from a M8 so it's similar decision.
The water resistance is nice too. But overall same specs. Screen, size, materials, cpu.
Fingerprints nice!
XPERIA Z5 GREEN
I'd stick with the M9 then get a 820 device mid next year1

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you a couple of questions. HTC ONE S is a beautiful phone, fast, the best to the touch and with a processor speed but ... But in the period where they are baked increasingly cheap quad core and even dual core as the new pro s4 are faster. In addition there is the problem that is not particularly supported by Community, stay with One S?
Express your thoughts thanks
If you want a dull vanilla android then yes ! But I would stay with one s or maybe shift to one x , one x+ or Samsung galaxy s3 ,try using a aokp/aosp Rom that's how a nexus device is,, very plain !! , if you got money to spent go buy some other quad cores like one x and sgs3 , people go with HTC and Samsung coz of their innovative ui ( sense for HTC and touchwiz for Samsung) . Android has only be rocking because of Samsung HTC and Sony , nexus devices are cheaper but not that enjoyable ,

I would say opposite of what this guy says. Samsung and HTC throw crappy interfaces over stock android making it slower and only causing you to not get the updated operating system timely on your phone. Vanilla android is best and I'm planning to buy nexus 4 as soon as it's out. One decent reason to stick with one s is that you don't have money to throw around buying the latest and greatest phone.

Is the phone unable to do something that you need it to do? Are a few more megaflipflops of processing power really going to make your life better?
If the answer to either of these questions is yes then buy another phone.
Trendy
Trend!!!
People wants to be trendy. Mostly iPhone users. Do not be like them.
As @Troute said: Is the phone unable to do something that you need it to do?
I find support pretty decent depending on what you're looking for. There's a good variety of different ROMs available to suit your tastes. Even though there's faster phones available now, it really depends on what you need to make your phone work for you. If you don't notice any issues with lag, performance is good, and battery life is good then I think things should be ok?

I spent $285 on this phone I think I got a solid deal. Definitely don't get an iphone anywhere near retail value. If I had to get a phone right now I would buy the Nexus 4.
Well as it stands right now the nexus 4 is gonna be strictly worst than our phone cuz LG made it. Anyone one else confused on that?
I say go for a onex+ or a s3. imma skip out on this round of smartphones though cuz our one s is one of the top phones out. Everytime i pull it out ppl are like OMG what phone is that. pretty much once the wow factor is gone its time for an upgrade lol
I mainly need a really powerful camera to replace compact digital camera for daily use, I don't want to take two devices go out. So, I will stay with One S and not to go with N4 like everyone else here.
I will probably buy a new phone later when HTC or Sony introduces their new camera sensor. HTC is going to roll out 5" 1080 J Butterfly with 8M cam in Dec on Japan, wanna see if the sensor get improved and I might get one.

LG is guilty of terrible software, but with the Nexus 4 that's not an issue. The hardware of the Nexus 4 is patchwork. On one hand you have the quad core S4 pro, on the other you're stuck with only 12gb of accessible space. On one hand you have an amazing screen, on the other the battery life sucks and can't be upgraded. You have to decide what you can tolerate to decide if a Nexus is for you. I love AOSP, but HATE limited storage. I love the resolution, but HATE the battery life. So I won't be getting a Nexus 4.

I may get the nexus 4 it will have a lot of devs working on it and I could just flash a sense rom onto the phone because I like sense. And I really want nfc
It's only 280 pound for 16gb and it beats the GS3 in specs

HTC DROID DNA

Sony XPERIA Z

Samsung Galaxy Note II

LG OPTIMUS G
vs
HTC ONE
There are still few other mobiles which can compete with the above list. But let us just confine the discussion to the above list phones and tell us what you feel is the best!!
NOTE: PLEASE DON'T INCLUDE OTHER MOBILES THAT AREN'T IN THE LIST AND NO iPHONE OR BLACKBERRY PLEASE.

"Best" for what?
DNA is best display (1080p SLCD)
Note 2 is best screen size and development (Odin + unlocked bootloader + devs)
Xperia Z I wouldn't get for any reason
Optimus G... why not just get a Nexus 4 unless you really need an SD slot. Cool phone and great device. Flash the Nexus 4 partitions and get some awesome ROM choices.
HTC One X - great form factor, but old by "today's" standards. The dual-core krait are nice but not as good as the S4 Pro or the Exynos quad powering the other good devices.
Top choice overall is Note 2, unless you don't want a screen that big then Optimus G with flashed Nexus 4 partitions.
The only REAL way to know is go to to an ATT and/or verizon store and play with them.
good ideas.

I think the HTC ONE
Overall best one...
The above mobiles have quad core processors and gigs of RAM. All of them have decent cameras too. In terms of options, custom ROMs and in terms of display they have differences.
But in terms of power, application launching, benchmarks, tweaks, how they handle similar tasks, quality of pictures and videos - the competition is on!!

I have not included SGS4 because it's specs and features are not yet finalized or released or officially announced. Only the unofficial features/rumors are available.
HTC One has officially announced it's release!:good:
Sony XPERIA Z!
Sony Xperia Z (dust & water resistant).
Am looking forward to get new one. Either it will be HTC One or XPERIA Z
Either Note II or HTC One
I'll give an advantage to the HTC One. It's a gorgeous phone.
But then the stylus on the galaxy note 2 it's awesome.
The Sony Xperia Z has a nice interface, but I don't like so much the design and the camera shutter button. Plus, even when the camera have 5 mega pixel more than the note 2, S3, and others, the quality on the Samsung series it's better and less noisy. (See photo comparisons)
The Motorola looks nice but, it doesn't have all the scene behind that supports the Samsung, and HTC phones.
LG...hmmm I personally find their phones attractive s, with decent capacity for their price tag, but the customer service it's a pain. And I know all the customer services are a pain, but even when the rest feels like they push and umbrella up your @$$, with LG, they push it, opened and then spin it. For me it's more a budget alternative.
I'm thinking on acquire the HTC, and left behind the galaxy series, but I'm waiting for the launch of the S4, to finally make my mind.

Only American reviews bashed the s4. Also blogs tend to want to start trends so if the big ones start talking about plastic vs aluminum everyone else will. All bad reviews are based on build materials only. Anyway you can't force your choice on others

Don't have the S4 yet but from vids, reviews and users I can say that the S4 has a better build quality then the One. Build quality is no the same as design and choice of material. Many One users complain(Ed) about speakers falling off, gap between the screen and the body of the phone stuff like that. The S4 doesn't have a flaw in its build. Sure its plastic but it is well build. There's no crack any where, no holes or nothing.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I have to say, I just switched from the HTC One to the S4. The One is a quality piece of hardware. The speakers on the front is really nice and it feels really good in the hand. I have 2 primary issues with it. One, Sense has not kept up with the latest good features that have been added to JellyBean. It seems to be a really dated interface. Two, ok, so you don't like the OS provided, unlock the bootloader using the HTC supplied method. OOps, now you have voided your hardware warranty (and they know about it). Big problem when your non-user serviceable battery dies a year into your 2 year contract....
The S4 is not as sexy a hardware platform, but it has better OS, and given enough time, you should be able to root/unlock and install your own OS. Even if it voids your warranty, you can still replace the battery, add micro SD memory and more. Right now I will settle for rooting it and removing bloatware.
I also don't have the Samsung Galaxy S4 yet but I would love to buy as soon as payday comes. I love the features and also I am looking for the quality of camera when buying a phone and it's good. Hoping to have the phone soon.

Okay, so my story goes like this...
I had some android phones:
my first - HTC Desire Z
next one - HTC Evo 3D
and the next one - HTC Sensation
and finaly Sony Xperia Z
after that I my mind went sideways and I bought iPhone 5s, I said to my self - "How can I diss the iPhone if I had never realy used it (iPod touch does not count ^^)
So I tried it and actualy I dont like it, because there is no Android as dull as it sounds, but I just want to install new ROMS every damn week and tweek them and the apps that require root access just does magic to your phone, anyway the best Android I ever had was HTC Evo 3D, and no, not because of the 3D camera and 3D display, beacause, I liked the design, but battery life was crap, pardon my french. but I bought second battery and it was as little as matter of changing the battery in the middle of the day, other than that I loved the speed of Evo, the design, yes even thou it was plastic... so my question is what to buy next, I am going to sell my iPhone and buy an Android phone, but I have a problem with choosing the right one, beacause I literaly hate the on screen buttons that are on the newest Android phones, I hated them on my Xperia and I hate them now, and my only choice is Samsung Galaxy S5, I want the phone to be fast, modern and to support as much new Android versions as possible, but I dislike S5, I just dont like the design and all the cool over-priced features will go away as I like my Androids with stock experience like CyanogenMod or AKOP, so what should I do/buy?

I love Nexus 5, the design, support from the xda devs for that phone, but it does not change that the nexus 5 has those on-screen buttons that I cant stand, and I believe Nexus 6 will have them too.
I really like the samsung galaxy tab 3 8.0 the battery is awsome. The one thing I haven't figured out is how to remove any traces of root (for warranty issues) does any one know how to remove any and all signs of a root so my warranty is not voided. im Curious aswell, phones with big screens are great but, even with Samsung which decides it wants big screens on their phones, how big can we really go? the Galaxy s5 is supposed to have a 5.1" display and thats getting pretty close to 7" like the nexus 7.

Short answer, long answer doesnt matter.
I always loved HTC devices and had almost every single one. I currently own a S6 also but here is my reason why I would buy a A9. HTC phones have great build. The A9 has a fingerprint scanner with AMOLED screen and 3GB of ram. Sense OS is super solid. NO LAG. Despite having a somewhat midrange CPU it performs everyday tasks as expected and very smooth. Charges up really fast and does last all day with battery tweaks (greenify). The S6 I would say is the ultimate phone for people that wants the best of everything but you'll be stuck on stock software with no modding and rooting for most US carriers. The A9 can bootloader unlock and have root.

Smaller screen, no lag, love the build quality, htc UI is better than any other, amazing sound output.
Thx for your comment.
Is there a difference between a9 vs s6 on listening music via earpods.
I heard htc one a9 has a special feature about listening music via earpod
I sold my nexus 6p and then bought the A9, there are far more custom roms for the nexus, but I just found it to big for day to day use and I also bent it (never happened to me before) also as mentioned above the sound output on headphones with the HTC blows the nexus away I don't know what the actual hardware difference is but listening to music on the HTC (which I do a lot) is much much better.
I miss the custom roms of the m8 and nexus but other than that really liking this phone....

That is the best part about it, it's better than the previous htc devices too.
I had the S6 for a month, couldn't stand the glass back and illogical UI.
Then had the G4 for several months, loved the phone, big screen and high res for VR, HTC Car was compatible somehow, but when they begin to die (motherboard fault) and as I had no warranty, I passed to the A9.
The A9 has a faster and smoother UI even though the cpu is not as good as the G4's one, audio perfection of the A9 absolutely destroy the G4, metal body...the only thing I missed is the big screen + 1440p which are perfect for VR.
With the A9 in google cardboard 2.0 you can see the pixels and the limits of the phone, perhaps the cardboard 1.0 is better as smaller
Thx for comments.
Reviewers and editors on internet give very quick decisions.
They just looking specs, compare specs and give a decision.
Generally they arent using phones on long term.
Long term user experiences are very important.
The one thing i would add is its slippery, i've ordered a Dot matrix case but is taking an age to turn up, in the meantime its bare and slippery in the hands... Obviously when the case turns up it'll be sorted....
