Lg g4, s6 and nexus 6p are htc one a9's rival.
I want to ask some questionst to htc one a9 users.
1) why did you choose htc one a9 over lg g4?
2) why did you choose htc one a9 over galaxy s6?
3) why did you choose htc one a9 over nexus 6p

Short answer, long answer doesnt matter.
I always loved HTC devices and had almost every single one. I currently own a S6 also but here is my reason why I would buy a A9. HTC phones have great build. The A9 has a fingerprint scanner with AMOLED screen and 3GB of ram. Sense OS is super solid. NO LAG. Despite having a somewhat midrange CPU it performs everyday tasks as expected and very smooth. Charges up really fast and does last all day with battery tweaks (greenify). The S6 I would say is the ultimate phone for people that wants the best of everything but you'll be stuck on stock software with no modding and rooting for most US carriers. The A9 can bootloader unlock and have root.

Smaller screen, no lag, love the build quality, htc UI is better than any other, amazing sound output.
Thx for your comment.
Is there a difference between a9 vs s6 on listening music via earpods.
I heard htc one a9 has a special feature about listening music via earpod
I sold my nexus 6p and then bought the A9, there are far more custom roms for the nexus, but I just found it to big for day to day use and I also bent it (never happened to me before) also as mentioned above the sound output on headphones with the HTC blows the nexus away I don't know what the actual hardware difference is but listening to music on the HTC (which I do a lot) is much much better.
I miss the custom roms of the m8 and nexus but other than that really liking this phone....

That is the best part about it, it's better than the previous htc devices too.
I had the S6 for a month, couldn't stand the glass back and illogical UI.
Then had the G4 for several months, loved the phone, big screen and high res for VR, HTC Car was compatible somehow, but when they begin to die (motherboard fault) and as I had no warranty, I passed to the A9.
The A9 has a faster and smoother UI even though the cpu is not as good as the G4's one, audio perfection of the A9 absolutely destroy the G4, metal body...the only thing I missed is the big screen + 1440p which are perfect for VR.
With the A9 in google cardboard 2.0 you can see the pixels and the limits of the phone, perhaps the cardboard 1.0 is better as smaller
Thx for comments.
Reviewers and editors on internet give very quick decisions.
They just looking specs, compare specs and give a decision.
Generally they arent using phones on long term.
Long term user experiences are very important.
The one thing i would add is its slippery, i've ordered a Dot matrix case but is taking an age to turn up, in the meantime its bare and slippery in the hands... Obviously when the case turns up it'll be sorted....

Hi all,
first i'm new to this forum and i seize the opportunity to say hello to everyone!
I'm planning to buy a new smartphone and i'm undecided about what phone between Samsung Galaxy S2 and the htc Sensation.
I really Like the Htc Sense and the sensation cut and I'm oriented to buy this one!
On the other hands GSII is more powerfull, more capacious but IHMO less handsome! It has also a more resistant and lightfull screen than the sensation!
Please XDA USERS answer to this poll, and explain me the PROS & CONS!
Well judging from the enormous HTC fanbase on xda, the sensation is more likely the one to win the poll. However I'm still going to go out and say the sgs 2 is the best in efficiency (obvious from the fact that little ram is used and the fluidity of the UI) for android. Any other android device out there that can play a 1080p youtube video?
However it really depends on what you want, eye candy or efficiency.
The myTouch 4G Slide plays 1080p like its 360p... So smooth. But, GS2 for sure...
Yes,i totally agree with Kailkti...I've pesonally used the SGS2 and i was an owner of the 1st so i have to say i was blown away with it's speed! It's VERY fast and quite smooth but also simple to use and quite elegant actually...plus there are lots of custom roms and kernels to use to modify the device as you like!Even overclock the cpu/gpu plus more...
I think sensation is no match for SGS2...
another important aspect that i would deal with is also the battery lasting!
I really stress my current phone (my old dear nokia n95 8 gb)! I send like 100 sms per day! Are those devices able to live all the day long?
Im not you so I can't speak for you. However for me this can last two days for me. If you are spend a day sending sms it might last. Granted your screen isn't on for more than 8-10hrs.
my friend own a sgs2 and my brother is using htc / my phones are in my sig i personally used both but htc leads the game
Samsung SGS2 = poor build quality in every 4 months u will need to buy new acc for it ..... / not that good with small hands / powerfull but do we really need that
HTC Sensation = Good build quality / good battery timing with data on / looks beautiful in all sized hands / every upcoming apps / games / new os supported
Htc the best ...
I really do not know what of those 2 smartphones buy!
SGS2 Is more powerfull and the battery lasts more than the htc! But The sensation IS SO COOL!!! Damn!

I've owned both in the past and to be honest I enjoyed the Sensation a lot more. It just feels so good in the hands and the UI is addiciting as candy (somewhat). I was planning on getting one a few weeks ago but held off since Bell was releasing the HTC Raider. Been using the new Bold for awhile but that died soooo I get a free replacement from Best Buy and with that I'm most likely gonna go with the raider.
Moves as a question
Sensation OWNERS let me know how long do your batterys live!!
Ps. Please submit the poll!
up message! I hope that it is not against the rules!
Former HD2 owner and a great phone it was too and i generally like HTC, however nothing can beat the SGSII in almost every aspect (ICS beta almost ready too)
HTC makes better phones but galaxy s 2 is better than sensation
double post! Sorry!
As an extremely heavy user (two phones, both dead in eight hours or less) my Sensation's battery doesn't last that long unless I use an Anker extended (1900Mah) and a powerskin case (another 1500Mah) but I'm not the norm either. I love my Sensation (and I'm living in a house with a Nexus S, Sensation, Rezound, Vivid, Nexus One and two Galaxy tabs (10.1))

The S2 is better as far as performance and screen quality goes but the build quality feels cheap and Touchwiz is gross. Sense is much better.
Both have their pros and cons I guess...

i am also in this dillema. curently owning an htc desire. wanted to go for the sensation but even if I expected nothing but good build quality from HTC i see hundreds of post on xda about dust under the screen, death grip and poor screen quality. so now i don't know wich to buy. btw htc sense is the only thing that keeps me near the sensation but i think that the sgs2 with a third party launcher would be even nicer. any suggestions?
HTC Sensation users, what will your next device be after Sensation?
For me it will probably be a Samsung phone possibly the Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5, unless HTC puts out a solid, well build and thought device with consistent quality materials across their devices.
I did realized that HTC Said that they'll cut down in the amount if phones they put out since they realized they were not focusing on one phone and therefore why so many flaws in their last models.
Example: two screen manufacturers.
What will be your next device?

Definitely another HTC. Maybe the Ville.

iPhone 5, because I've already owned Androids(the Sensation is my second one), Blackberries, and Windows Phone but I never owned an iPhone & I always want to try new phones after a period of time.
P.S. I love Android phones the most & this Sensation is the best one I ever used (besides the sucky battery life).
Depends on what HTC brings out, I dunno if the Ville will be enough to bring me over
Well since I am on t-mobile my choice is limited since they never have the best phones out.
I will probably get whatever htc <4.3 inch screen phone is out
Definitely getting the GS3...I hope its quad core

STRICTLY the Nexus device....
I honestly dont think I will ever buy a non vanilla Android device again. The "features" the carriers/manufactures load up ruin the experience and limit the people who care to develop for the device.

As much as I hate samSUCK I think I might have to agree. I really wish HTC made the Nexus devices...
My wish list:
- size of the Desire or something in between the Desire & Sensation.
- hard buttons like those of the Desire.
- quadcore
- powerful battery to last.
- beats tech or better of the Sensation XE
Thats it. Not much to ask from HTC huh?
Maybe the HTC Ville
as long as its dual core with 768mb of ram or more and a nice 5 inch screen ill buy it.
softkey only devices for me
quad core definitively
HTC first priority altho i want it to have AOSP & Sense Roms lol were having a really tuff time bringing AOSP ICS
if not ill go with the next nexus, 5MP camera stopped me from getting it really
This time, I'm going to for an Samsung device, none of those horrible dust issues, and I really want to own an phone with an AMOLED screen.
Quad core isn't needed. I think a strong dual core (think at least 1.5Ghz) with a >3000mAH battery and a screen between the sensation and note with proper resolution (~720).
Am I the only one who thinks the AMOLED screens are overrated? I personally love this sensation screen and think it rivals the iphone, but the AMOLED samsung screens just look like the have a blue/purple hue over them..
anyone else planning on holding on to their sensation for another year at least, probably 2? Im thinking once CM9 comes out the phone will rock. I am not dropping another 500$+ on a phone until something that is truly next gen comes out
Waiting for MWC.. I really hope they have something up their sleeve..
I really like HTC but they need to bring out something top notch.
2011 wasn't a good year for HTC and they know it. They need to get back on top with one badass machine.

You're not the only one. I think they do look stunning but the colours are too rich IMO. This is one reason why I chose the Sensation over the GS2.
On a related note, I think the Galaxy Nexus is quite overrated. Apart from having a 720p screen and being a Google Experience device (and therefore having ICS), there isn't that much else that's amazing about it. Still a great phone but not worth the price (ATM).

Got Nexus (Prime) and have Sensation since day one. Honestly... I am not buying any other phone for next 2 years. When got the Sensation didn't see a big difference and should stick with XL... Anyhow, I don't think there could be added more "features" (unless you playing games).
As for the Nexus... Many people saying its crap, underpowered atc... IMO these people NEVER had Nexus except in their dreams. The Nexus performs superb.
So my answer is : no other phone for 2 years as my current phones are the very best...
Sony Xperia S looks pretty nice.

None, go with the One S. HTC has the best UI and the One S has basically the same hardware as the Galaxy Nexus, plus it has a better sized screen.
Galaxy Nexus

Galaxy nexus for me. I like the fact that you can have the updates before everyone else because it's a google phone

Haha, yeah sure. My nexus s was on 4.0.3, while galaxy nexus was on 4.0.1... I would advice you the one s!
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
the galaxy nexus is $400 from google unlocked which is only $150 more than the htc one s
so you get to stay off contract and cancel whenever you like.
However the htc one s has a much better camera, not only MP but also because htc added some tweaks and stuff
The one s also has sense 4 which is good if you're a fan of UIs.
The nexus is a google device which means it should get updates quicker than most phones unless you root and flash a custom rom
The htc one s also has a better feel because it's not as plastic-y AND COMES WITH WARRENTY FROM TMOBILE (which is very easy to claim)
EDIT: nexus has a better screen but one s has beats audio
nexus has nfc while the one s doesnt
if you like to mess with phones, i recommend the one s because of the easy warranty exchange with tmobile

Ons S is the best! but poor batteries
according to reviews in my country, one s has very good camera (high quality foto). Very hard choise You wanna have support from google, take nexus.
i would prefer one s
The CPU in the one S is much much faster then the one in the galaxy nexus. The 2 Krait cores perform as fast as or faster then the 4 tegra cores of the tegra 3. The Adreno 225 is also a powerful GPU.
Galaxy NEXUS FTW!!!!
Get the nexus
Here's why
1.The battery
2.NFC
3.NO UI
4.THAT GODDANG AMOLED
5.Updates and ROMS

In terms of physical looks, the ONE S looks better to me.
I guess you have to try it out, maybe read reviews too.
OS-wise, I suppose the Nexus would basically work like maybe a Galaxy S2 with CM9, the stock ICS experience.
Then on the ONE S theres Sense 4.
Theres the feel of the phone, is it comfortable to hold, the weight.
Does it feel good in your pocket.
Or you are the tweaker and have the knowledge to bend any of the phones, within its limits, to your liking.
For ONE S there should be less custom stuff to play with as its new.
And if you are an accessory fan, consider if the phone will be popular or not.
When I got my HTC Desire, no shops seem to be selling any case for the phone locally.
Luckily theres a free case from the telco but its 'barely there', in the end got one from eBay.
If you're ok with online shopping then its fine, I suppose.
It doesnt matter that HTC is the best or Galaxy Nexus is designed by Google its all about the Hardware and Software combination of the phone its advantages and disadvantages its performance and other things needs to be watched. So my choice is Galaxy Nexus.
Prefer one s. seremic body and UI will give you a perfect experience. Basically nexus is great. You will get the latest update and great camera shutter speed etc. But android growing fast. Time to feel new thing..
Hi guys not sure if this would be classed as being under the HTC ONE X forum but should be as its aimed at it.
I've currently got a HTC Sensation XE and I'm looking to upgrade to the One X or One S now I'm unsure which one to go with the One X is about £70+ than the One S but has the super LCD 2 HD screen and the other only has the pentile super amoled which is similar to the original galaxy s's where I could see the pixels every now and again depending on the situation etc.
I'm torn between them both as I've been asked to check for any issues with either of them so im wondering is the performance increase going to be there on the one X as I've heard the tegra is slower than the Qualcomm s4 chips quad core wise and the dual s4 chip isnt far off in certain tests, benchmarks and real life?
Could anyone provide me with some useful information and feedback between them and if the performance is a step up from dual core or if its how android used to be not supporting dual core properly till later android builds etccheers

i upgraded from a Sensation XE recently to a One X and i have been loving it. Sense has become smoother (albeit not earthshakingly smoother as the XE on ICS is doing pretty okay) and the screen is awesome.
One thing. I checked out the One S after using my One X for a few weeks. I could actually see pixelation. Kinda surprised since everyone says its not that big an issue. Seems like our eyes adjust very quickly to better display

Ill be honest I'd go for the x also...although I like my s...still want the x even now.
More for cm9 then the phone maybe...
Still what worries me also with the x is the amount of dodgy devices having to be replaced
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA Premium App
As you asked this in the One X section, 'course a lot of people will tell you to get the X. Though (imo) it really depens on your needs.
I've got the One X for about a week now. I have to say, it is an awesome phone. I really really love the screen. Too bad it is this huge.. It just doesn't fit quite well in my hand. (true, my hands are kind off small) I used to have an HD2, which is only .5cm smaller yet way easier to hold and use with one hand. As I cycle a lot I find this quite important.
If it wasn't for the screen and dev support (don't get me wrong: both are very important!), I would actually buy the One S. In everyday usage the One S is just as fast (maybe even faster) as the quad One X. Unless you want to play a lot of high quality games. If there is any difference at all with 'normal' usage, you won't notice the 0.05 seconds. Also the S' battery life is better, and it looks and feels better imo. This is something really personal though.
But yeah.. Once you've seen the X's screen you won't be satisfied with any other.. Just don't buy it because you think a quadcore phone will surely be faster/better.
Just my two cents.
Yeah as said the screen on the X is much much better. I compared my X to a S in store and was actually surprised as to how much better it is. Also coming from the GS2 the X doesn't really feel that much bigger in hand, and I got small hands. I got the grey one, which looks awesome in my opinion. Even better than the white, but that's personal preference of course.

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you a couple of questions. HTC ONE S is a beautiful phone, fast, the best to the touch and with a processor speed but ... But in the period where they are baked increasingly cheap quad core and even dual core as the new pro s4 are faster. In addition there is the problem that is not particularly supported by Community, stay with One S?

If you want a dull vanilla android then yes ! But I would stay with one s or maybe shift to one x , one x+ or Samsung galaxy s3 ,try using a aokp/aosp Rom that's how a nexus device is,, very plain !! , if you got money to spent go buy some other quad cores like one x and sgs3 , people go with HTC and Samsung coz of their innovative ui ( sense for HTC and touchwiz for Samsung) . Android has only be rocking because of Samsung HTC and Sony , nexus devices are cheaper but not that enjoyable ,

I would say opposite of what this guy says. Samsung and HTC throw crappy interfaces over stock android making it slower and only causing you to not get the updated operating system timely on your phone. Vanilla android is best and I'm planning to buy nexus 4 as soon as it's out. One decent reason to stick with one s is that you don't have money to throw around buying the latest and greatest phone.

I find support pretty decent depending on what you're looking for. There's a good variety of different ROMs available to suit your tastes. Even though there's faster phones available now, it really depends on what you need to make your phone work for you. If you don't notice any issues with lag, performance is good, and battery life is good then I think things should be ok?

I spent $285 on this phone I think I got a solid deal. Definitely don't get an iphone anywhere near retail value. If I had to get a phone right now I would buy the Nexus 4.
Well as it stands right now the nexus 4 is gonna be strictly worst than our phone cuz LG made it. Anyone one else confused on that?
I say go for a onex+ or a s3. imma skip out on this round of smartphones though cuz our one s is one of the top phones out. Everytime i pull it out ppl are like OMG what phone is that. pretty much once the wow factor is gone its time for an upgrade lol
I mainly need a really powerful camera to replace compact digital camera for daily use, I don't want to take two devices go out. So, I will stay with One S and not to go with N4 like everyone else here.
I will probably buy a new phone later when HTC or Sony introduces their new camera sensor. HTC is going to roll out 5" 1080 J Butterfly with 8M cam in Dec on Japan, wanna see if the sensor get improved and I might get one.

LG is guilty of terrible software, but with the Nexus 4 that's not an issue. The hardware of the Nexus 4 is patchwork. On one hand you have the quad core S4 pro, on the other you're stuck with only 12gb of accessible space. On one hand you have an amazing screen, on the other the battery life sucks and can't be upgraded. You have to decide what you can tolerate to decide if a Nexus is for you. I love AOSP, but HATE limited storage. I love the resolution, but HATE the battery life. So I won't be getting a Nexus 4.
