TCL (Alcatel) 3S M3G, Snapdragon 615, 1080p, $160, ROMs, FAQS - Android General

TCL, also known as Alcatel, has released their new phone, the TCL 3S M3G for $160. Check out the specs below and click on the link for more info and to purchase it.
5" Sharp Display, 1920x1080
Snapdragon 615 Processor
2GB RAM, 16GB Storage
8MP Front camera, 13MP Back Camera
Android 5.0 Lollipop
3000mAh battery
Dual SIM, MicroSD
Fingerprint Sensor
I'm expecting decent battery life, a great screen since Sharp's Triluminos displays look amazing. I'm a little worried about the Snapdragon 615 though, knowing it's issues with performance and overheating, hopefully TCL can deal with that. Has anyone got this phone? Let me know what you think about it!

FAQS
Coming soon!

Feedback on it so far - came loaded with popup adware of some sort, plus a couple apps that reported being malware by SmartClean. Killed those, but performance is still pretty weak. Microstutters everywhere, to the point where I'm sometimes unsure if it even detected the screen press or not. Trying to find out how to flash the stock rom on it at the moment.

LG G Pro 2 goes official with 5.9" display and Android 4.4 KitKat

The new LG G Pro 2 sports a 5.9-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) IPS display, weighs 172 grams, and measures 157.9 × 81.9 × 8.3 mm - and yet the Korean company calls it a smartphone, not a phablet. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat, coming with an “evolved” KnockOn feature called Knock Code. For the moment, the rough automatic translation of the press release announcing the handset doesn’t allow us to fully understand how the new feature works.
The G Pro 2 is LG’s first smartphone to offer a high-power 1W speaker, which should make it a multimedia powerhouse. The handset has a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and OIS plus (an improved version of the Optical Image Stabilization which debuted on the LG G2 last year). The rear camera can record 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) video. Other features: LTE-A connectivity, NFC, quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 3,200 battery (apparently removable).

How many of you impressed about G pro 2 ???
Back then, when the Optimus G was annouced, I was pretty impressed by the specs. Now though, I realise the lack in many aspects makes it a "second runner" in many point. The lack of update, even for bug correction and the lack of quality in certain apsects, like the camera software or audio rendering make it so that I won't be looking at "specs" only anymore.
Anyway, unless I can sell my OG a decent price to get a N5, I think I'll wait to see what will Lenovo do with Motorola.

[Q] Lumigon T2 HD

What do you guys think of the new Lumigon T2 HD?
I see it has up to 128GB INTERNAL Storage, ok it has a small(ish) screen at 4.3" but that's fine I suppose, it's 720p HD screen. It has 4.4 KitKat OTA update for it. It has 4G/LTE capabilities, 2GB RAM, Snapdragon 1.7GHz dual-core, Adreno 320 GPU. It's also IP65 Rated - Water/Dust Resistant. Looks like it also has a dedicated Camera button built onto it, 2.4MP front face, 13MP rear.
Can go to the site for more in-depth Specs on this beauty, I say beauty because it really does have a nice design to it! :good:
Have any of you seen it before on sites? what do you think about it? worth the money(It's definitely going to be expensive, I'm sure of it) ? Any other thoughts?
Sorry I can't post link to the site though, but you can just google search for it or jump to lumigon . com :highfive:

Meizu MX4 Real and overall review

Meizu has released its latest smartphone, Meizu MX4, and it will also announce Meizu MX4 Pro soon. But today, i would like to make a deep review about Meizu MX4 first. This smartphone has become the flaship device in the market right now. Meizu MX4 is said to be the best rival of Xiaomi MI4. As you know, Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei, Oppo and ZTE are all Chinese famous brand. You can also share the feeling about this smartphone.
Design and apperance
Meizu MX4 packs a 1920 * 1152 Pixel SHARP JDI Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Screen , with the dimension of 5.67 x 2.96 x 0.35 inches (144 x 75.2 x 8.9 mm), From the screen size, it can be the most suitable size for us to hold. If it sported a large screen more than 5.36inch, it would increase the some unacceptable comments from users. Therefore, I like the screen size , meanwhile, i have tested the screen quality, it has also nice screen color. Which i would like to use the smartphone to wathc the videos. Hope you can have the same feeling with me.
Powerful Hardware :MTK6595 Octa Core 2.2Ghz
Meizu MX4 is the first smartphone which is powered by MTK6595 Octa Core 2.2Ghz processor, before the MTK6595 chipset came out, many manufacturers and users have predicted which brand will be the first one using MTK6595 Octa core 2.2 GHz processor, now Meizu has revealed the answer for you. About the speed, i really can't express my joy about it more. It's so fast and swift compared with MTK6592 Octa core 1.7GHz, when i play the 3D games, there is no need to wait for more than 20seconds. I can log in the games without any stop. Believe or not, just have a try.
As for the internal memory, it is not RAM 3GB but RAM 2GB, and it has two versions that one is RAM 2GB ROM 32GB, the other is RAM 2GB ROM 16gb, i am the one who is inclined to use the ROM 32GB. which has the larger storage which let me download and store numerous full high definition videos.
20.7MP Rear Camera
As for me, a cool camera is very important, Meizu MX4 has 20.7MP rear camera which is the finest camera i have ever seen compared with other smartphone. It utilizes Sony’s latest high-end Exmor RS sensor, coming in at 1/2.3″ and 20.7 megapixels this sensor not only picks up a ton of detail but it picks up a ton of light too. Although the front camera has only 2MP, the rear camera is really eye-catching. I will take more pictures about the back camera.
3100mAh Battery(Bulit-in)
Last time, you must remember THL has released the most durable battery with 5000mAh, now Meizu MX4 has also 3100mAh battery built in the smartphone. Standby in particular is absolutely amazing on the MX4, when i play the gmaes by this smartphone, it can support more than 8 hours working time. I really can't believe it.
Support 4G LTE network , GPS, and Multilanguage function
Besides those nice features, Meizu MX4 can also support multilanguage, which can beat those Lenovo smartphone without multilanguage function. And 4G LTE network let me enjoy the fast speed to search the Internet. Especially play it on subway. GPS function can help me guide my way when i have a travel, or when i shop on a strange road.
In conclusion, i love this Meizu MX4 smartphone with the good price. Hope you can also have a nice experience with me.
Well first of all I would like personally to thank you for the review. I was thinking to buy this phone and by this great review, I am more likely to buy it sooner than I thought. The thing is tho, 4G LTE network works in all European countries with all Cell phone Brands or how you call it? I mean like Vodafone, Orange, O2, Cosmote, Wind etc...? And I would like to ask something else too(since you own the phone already) does it support LED notifications? I saw a video on youtube but I am not sure if it's real or fake. Thanks in advance.
Internal phone storage
I currently have a ZTE Nubia Z5S NX503A, 32GB version. When I recieved it, I found out it had just a 2GB internal phone storage and around 24GB SD-storage. None of the storage locations are able to be physicaly removed or replaced. As a standard, Google Play Store installs apps to this internal phone storage, but this gets very quickly filled up. Anyone know how this is with the Meizu MX4 Pro?
I love meizu mx4 and pro. Planing to buy it.. Little bit concern about customs charge.. I am living India.. Did anyone already buy from India ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
As well know, except for the MEIZU MX4, Huawei Ascend Mate7 and the Xiaomi Mi4 are both the latest popular Chines mobiles, so how do you think of the three mobile phones?

[Review]Kyocera Hydro Life (T-Mo/MetroPCS)

I've had this phone for a couple months now as my daily driver, and after reading phonescoops review of it they posted today, i wanted to give a review that touches more on the strengths and weaknesses of the phone from the perspective of a average person.
While its nice to have a beautiful screen and great detail, but who really nitpicms over color tempature.
Kyocera Hydro Life: $129 T-Mobile, $29 Metro PCS
Specs:
Quad Core 1.2ghz Snapdragon 200 processor msm8212
Adreno 305 Graphics (official specs list Adreno 302, CPU-Z says 305)
1.5GB Ram
8GB internal Memory (5gb user)
5MP Front, 2MP rear camera. 720p video recording
4.5" qhd screen 540x960
MicroSD slot reads up to 32gb (would not read my 64gb no matter how i formatted it)
Android 4.3 Jellybean
Phone is IP67 waterproof & Dustproof
The phone is a great device for the price offered @ MetroPCS. The phone is lightly modified and is stock android for the most part. It boots up quick, and the display has rich colors that look great and come in crisp. The brightness is great and can be read pretty well in bright sunlight.
The performance of the phone is not bad for a budget phone, and for those of us that are on XDA is an easy remedy. It has a snapdragon 200 processor, however the msm8212 isnt a cortex A5 like they have been, its a cortex A7 core, and with the Adreno 305 i would just as well call it a snapdragon 400. The MetroPCS version has its fair share of carrier bloat. Its loaded with a ton of MetroPCS apps that most people would find useless and never use. The bloatware is the biggest drain of performance on the phone, with the majority of them running in the background at startup. The 1.5Gb of ram really helps a lot and is a nice bonus in a phone this price. I have had several apps open at once without any noticible hiccups or slowdowns.
The phone is 11mm thick, and has a textured matte plastic back that feels good in the hand, and underneath is a 2000mah battery that is removable, and needs to be out to access the microsim & microSD slot. The call qualitybis good and i have never had trouble hearing anyone voices come in clear. The single speaker on the back of the phone is not loud however, and unless the room us really quiet i wouldnt try using speakerphone with it.
The phone is incredibly easy to root, and can be done so using RootGenius. I used titanium backup to remove the bloat and the performance incfease was easily noticable. I kept a copy of the bloatware apps on my computer incase the OTA for Kitkat is ever released. I emailed Kyocera two months ago and they replied back saying they finished and released the kitkat update to T-Mobile/MetroPCS and that they are holding it back. Two months later still nothing. Xposed framework works great and most of gravitybox works like a charm.
The camera takes OK pictures but nothing to brag about. Its good enough to anap a quivk pic on a whim or for on the go use, but for pictures that you really want to look great i wouldng rely on it. The Front cam is about the same quality wise, takes a decent selfie in gppd lighting and most people wouldnt really know ghe difference vetween cameras on facebook
Overall for the price i think its a great phone and if you are wanting a good phone on a budget, or need a rugged phone for work i highly reccomend this one. I have an LG G2 but i havent used it since i bought this one since it performs so well and does everything i need it to without a hitch.

The UHANS S1 has 1.3mm bezels, Android 6.0, and a crystal fingerprint sensor!

http://www.mobiletechasia.com/?p=4763
UHANS is a relatively unknown company, even in the Chinese phone market. Their most popular phone was the UHANS S100, which was a leather backed phone that looked a lot like Vertu phones.
The UHANS S1 looks like their entry into the mainstream, with some very decent specs, and the phone itself looks extremely nice and thin. Power wise it shouldn’t be lacking, but the one thing I’m concerned about is battery life, because the phone is only 6.8mm thick and has small bezels, they could only fit a 2200mAh battery in there, so I’m hopeful that they did some battery magic to up the screen on time.
Gizchina also reported that the camera has Fotonation technology that basically enhances and corrects pictures of people to enhance their pictures, I believe it’s really similar to beautify mode, but probably more in depth.
No price has been announced yet. Follow this thread for more updates.
