How do I put WiFi Calling on Custom ROMs? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I currently am running Stock ROM from EE which includes WiFi Calling. I want to use custom ROMs but I cannot due to it not having WiFi Calling, I have asked developers but I have been ignored.
I do not have any signal at work nor at home so I rely on WiFi Calling, how do I put it on a custom rom myself?
Thanks.

I guess a developer should have the right answer . Below is the VoLTE/VoWiFi info I noticed in my devices running Stock fw.:
- your ROM should support VoLTE/VoWiFi, running all the IMS services
- VoLTE and VoWiFi databases are under: /data/data/com.sec.imsservice/databases/. You have info related to all the operators there, including EE. You can even edit them but in your case I guess you will have to do a copy from Stock to Custom. I guess this is the most critical part, I don't know if just copying the files will work.
- Besides this you have to look in the info under /system/CSC and to enable the WiFi Calling there. Pay atention also at ims APN.
Let me know if you managed to make some progress ...

[Q] Internet Calling on 3G/H

In stock roms, Settings>call>use internet calling, which is the native VoIP application, is limited to be used only with wifi.
Does any Custom Rom has it enabled on 3G/H ?
(The should not be confused with T-Mobile wifi calling and like applications)

One of the custom roms I had with my old HD2/android had it enabled on 3G/H.
I think, but not sure, that it has been one by CoreDroid. That's why I still think it is doable, but I do not know how to do it.
Internet Call (VoiP)
Hi,
i'm still on HyperNonSense V1.4 and have setup internet calls in Phone app. It works on any network (WiFi, 3G,...)
The only thing i had to do was to copy framework.jar & framework-res.apk from V1.2 to /system/framework folder.
I hope i could help you with this information
Greetz Orca74

I use CoreDroid and the option is still in the latest V4.1
There is the option for
Use internet calling when data network is available
I have never tried this so can't provide any accurate info on if it works or not

ROMs for Global/GSM roaming

Hi everyone,
I have a d2vzw running Carbon ROM Kitkat. I spent the weekend back in the UK and enabled global mode, which connected to Vodafone's GSM/HSDPA network using the original Verizon SIM. So I had phone and SMS service - no problems at all.
However, I couldn't get a data connection. It was connected to the HSDPA network (enhanced 3G). Under Settings-->More...-->Mobile networks there is the option ("Access Point Names") to choose an APN. However, none showed up. I tried to add an APN manually, but as soon as I set Vodafone's MCC and MNC, it refused to save the APN info.
Oddly enough, the correct APN settings are all on the phone in Carbon ROMs "apns-conf.xml" file, they're just not showing up.
I tried everything to remedy this, but no luck.
So, here are two questions to harvest your collective wisdom:
First, is there a solution to this? I like Carbon ROM, but I have to have global data access for my work. If I can get my d2vzw running Carbon connected to international GSM networks and APN for internet, then I'd really like to.
Second, does anyone know of a KitKat ROM that DOES do this properly on the d2vzw?
Thank you so much,
M
I haven't checked in on AOSP ROMs in a while, but last time I did, none of them could do this, you need to run a Touchwiz-based ROM. AOSP ROMs like Carbon use a reverse-engineered radio interface which is not quite as good as the Samsung one which is included with TW ROMs, and this is one problem with it.
The bottom line is that if you want all the hardware features of your phone to work, you have to use a TW-based ROM, because Samsung hasn't opened up the hardware.

Thanks, Jacquestrapp. That's helpful. Perhaps I will flash a TW-based ROM and then keep it as a nandroid backup for when I go travelling.
I have been using my Verizon S3 in the Philippines as an international phone for months with excellent service. I am able to connect to the GSM network and transmit data at H+ speeds. I am on CM 10.1.3 official on Baseband MF1 and have been able to successfully switch to GSM using the PhoneInfo app. To assign proper APNs, I use the HiAPN app. Be very careful with Phone info: I once broke my connectivity messing with the settings too much ("Select radio band") and had to revert to Twiz and turn on the GSM bands using the "secret menu" to turn those back on. If you have a Twiz backup, try dialing *#2263# to choose the bands your phone has access to (seems impossible on other ROMs) if you keep having problems.
The thread here (see post 106) is enormously helpful.
The info about Twiz and reverse engineering is useful -- I haven't been able to get reliable service beyond CM 10.1.3 (very low signal, inability to send SMS, but somehow can receive SMS and voice calls), so I have been sticking to 10.1.3, unfortunately. I want to upgrade to 4.4, but haven't been able to do it without breaking GSM functionality. Has anyone gotten GSM and data to work on a 4.4 ROM?

[Q] VoLTE and WiFi calling

Does anyone know if this phone will ever support VoLTE and WiFi calling on T-Mobile? I was hoping that since the pop astro supports these features, hopefully they'd come to this phone as well.

Unknown but since Hangouts Dialer works fine why not use that for your wifi calls?
According to some, Lollipop was/is supposed to have WiFi Calling baked into the firmware for all the phones running it. And if your SIM card supported it, it would automatically enable it to be used. Have yet to see that though. I don't think this phone will ever get WiFi Calling since it's not a phone released through T-Mobile and doesn't have any T-Mobile software installed. VoLTE on the other hand should be already be supported on the phone.
It doesn't seem likely this phone will receive many updates either. Hope to be proven wrong though in the near future.
I've been using hangouts and it works OK, but gets blocked by my work WiFi requiring that I run a VPN if I want to use it. Hopefully VoLTE will start working, but for now it's not working in an area where I've previously been able to use it with a note 4. Thanks for your input.
I wish they find ways to put wifi calling feature on this thing in tmobile network soon.
Tagging along. I work in a building with a large basement area where I don't get cellular signal, but they have wireless access points installed in the area. It'd be nice to still make/receive calls down there as I'm down there frequently.
Only way we will see WiFi Calling on this device is if we get CM 13 ported over because CM 13 has native built in WiFi calling.

No. You need radio firmware with WiFi calling capabilities. That has nothing to do with CM13. Your device firmware HAS to support it. You will never see WiFi calling at that level with Idol 3.
Where can i able to enable Volte..

TELSTRA Australia Users - I have VoWiFi all of a sudden!!??

Cant remember what exactly what I did, but I followed guides here;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/force-enable-volte-vowifi-t3934227
&
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/guide-activate-volte-vowifi-t4116051
and
The later being the most recent. Whats even more surprising I have previously heavily de-bloated this rom using xXx No Limits to the extent VoWiFI and LTE feature aren't even available (but I understand changes carry forward as they are saved to the EFI partition)
Anyways, going to dive into to see what exact setting I enabled and will post back.
Any other Telstra users notice they have VoWiFI this morning?
Edit: Updated with PDC Setting for Telstra Volte & VoWiFi :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Yea, so I know have VOLTE as well!! Really a nice surprise this morning because reception hasn't been the best at home. Anyways,
I have a GM1910 (Chinese ver of One Plus 7 Pro 256Gb / 12GB running OOS 9.5.13 GM21AA with xXx No Limits magisk rom + Kirisakura custom kernel.
I have all installation files backed up as well as some are not hosted by the ops anymore.
What I need to figure out are the specific change I made to the IMEI with the qpst programs... I don't think I did anything to major in the end there, it was months ago and didn't yield any affect.
Any Telstra users have VOLTE and VoWiFi without having done anything!?
I'll post later today my PDC settings

Updated post with req. PDC setting, can someone confirm if working on their end too?
No such luck on my end. I have the same model and have tried a few versions to no avail. I have had volte pop up before, but the moment I made a call it switched back to 3G. Have you confirmed them to be working? I need vowifi, i have no reception at home. Sick of facebook calling...

I just made an additional discovery, you also need to have "My Telstra" app installed as well just as a normal app and have run it at least once then reboot. Have you tried that?
Also, in you Sim settings you have VOLTE and WiFi calling enabled?
Volte and VoWiFi are working here, during call it he phone app will advise call is over vowifi
I'm SOL.
Got a HD1913 1+ 7T Pro.
Tried everything but cant get VoLTE or VoWIFI to work on Telstra.
Running Firmware 10.0.10.HD01AA
Have all the options enabled under Sim1 and through *#*#4636#*#* its all enabled.
Unfortunately no VoLTE sign or VoWIFI when calling. HD symbol works during calls, but thats about it.
Even have the Telstra App installed and full permissions.
UPDATE****
So i put the phone into aeroplane mode and enabled only wifi, tried to do a call and it failed, then BAMMM! VoWIFI enables itself and now I have VoWIFI enabled.
UPDATE 2****
VoLTE has enabled itself too. Looks like the trick for Telstra is to go into aeroplane mode, make a call with wifi enabled only, accept that it says called failed and it should enable VoWIFI and VoLTE.
Happy Days!!!
I'm also on Telstra (Boost mobile) and managed to get VoLTE and VoWIFI working on my OnePlus 7 (non-pro version).
I followed the guide exactly as described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/guide-activate-volte-vowifi-t4116051
After I did all the steps, I rebooted and VOLTE didn't seem to work at first. But then I went into airplane mode and made a call with only Wifi enabled as kw0n2k suggested above. Then VoWIFI and VoLTE started working immediately.
When I was following the guide, the Logkit app preinstalled on my phone didn't have the VoLTE switches so I had to download the Logkit APK they recommended in the post.
For the VoLTE profile, I used "Telefonica_UK_Commercial" as mentioned in the post.

No Wifi Calling Toggle in call settings, Anyone know how to enable it ?

I have the european variant LM-V500EM of LG V50 which I was under the impression had a wifi calling / vowifi option. I've used the quickshortcut maker app and can see the option is there in the backend of the settings com.android.settings.Settings$Wifi CallingSettingsActivity. I can even open it and toggle it to on but it doesn't appear to do anything and still won't show in the regular call settings.
I've spoken to a number of UK networks who say it should work and spoken to LG directly who say wifi calling is unavailable for this variant/model and only the EE variant has WIFI calling. It's pretty frustrating that a function which the phone clearly is capable of is unusable.
Has anyone got any workarounds for this as I'm tearing my hair out here and don't want to have to sell the phone as apart from this it's great.
Thanks
I've been in engineering mode *#546368#*500# and SVC Menu / VoWIFI / W-Fi Toggle to ON but wifi calling still doesn't appear in the main settings.
Can this be enabled OTA by the right network carrier eg. EE , 3 etc ?
I've got the same phone, same problem.
Running Android 11, Smarty network
