[Q] Charging from Dock with Lid Down

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the following issue:
I've tried charging the TF from the dock with the lid/screen down.. when I lift the screen to check some time later (say an hour or so) - the charge doesn't appear to have increased. When I unlock and go to the homescreen, the lightning bolt has disappeared - only to appear a few moments later, presumably to signify that charging has resumed.. Its a UK TF & Dock, therefore no new firmware yet.. Is this happening because there's been one of the infamous "dock disconnects" at some point during the charging phase?
Tried my second test this afternoon - left WiFi to always on, but put the TF in airport mode this time.. same "pausing" of charging... My original post from last night's weirdness below:

Question here for anyone who can help shed some light on what's going on..
If a Dock is fully charged, and a TF is almost depleted (e.g. 1-4% charge left).. will the dock fully recharge the tablet to 100% or near enough?
The reason I ask is because I tried just that scenario last night.. made sure the doc was fully charged (leaving it plugged into the mains) and then docked my TF into it when it was at about 2% and removed the mains... shut the lid and left it..
Some time later I popped open the lid and checked, it was up to about 49%... so I closed the lid and left it over night...
And here's where some weirdness started happening..
Checking it this morning by lifting the lid, the tablet reported the same charge value of 49% with no lightning bolt in the notification area.. a few moments later, the lightning bolt appeared and it continued to charge from the dock and checking the battery usage graph confirmed that it had only charged to a certain point and simply stopped. With the lid open (but screen off) the tablet continued to charge off the dock upto about 62% at which point the lightning bolt disappeared and the dock light was flashing orange...
I'm on a UK tablet and dock (so no new firmware update yet), and I have the "WiFi off when screen off" mode selected - not that that option should have any affect (the wifi was indeed off all that time the screen was off - but so it seems was the charging)
I don't think I've got a duff dock, but can anyone confirm they've experienced similar... that the dock doesn't fully recharge the tablet or offer some other explanation plz?

It could be the dock disconnect issue. Mine used to disconnect when it was locked, but now its fine after the update.
Just to be clear, your charging it using the wall adapter correct?

Charging the dock via wall adaptor, disconnect it once fully charged.. docking the TF and seeing how well the dock charges the TF on its own..
I tried putting the WiFi back to 'always on' with Airplane mode off.. and surprise surprise it seems to be charging with the lid down and screen off.. wake it up, lightning bolt still there and still charging.. some how the wifi power saving mode must be linked.. dock disconnects probably also an issue.. any thoughts?

A few thoughts.
The dock can only charge the pad to about 55-60%. This is listed in the specs.
When doc with pad are on the charger the pad will be charged first and then the dock. This is by design.
What is up with the UK units not getting the OTA that fixes most of the dock issues (Wifi, sleep, etc)?

I have been charging my dock and tablet together since I got it, which has been for about two or three chargers, and I have the latest firmware updates. What I noticed is that my tablet was at about 78% and the dock was blinking orange, indicating that it was less than 10%. I plugged them both in and in about 3 hours the dock light turned back to green, indicating that it was charged, and my tablet shows 100% charge with no lightning bolt, meaning that the dock isn't charging it. What surprises me is that the last time I charged it the tablet stayed at 100% for quite some time but then the dock started blinking orange again. From what I have read and understood, the dock isn't suppose to charge the tablet until it reaches a certain perentage, but apparently the dock is charging the tablet even when the tablet is somewhat fully charged. I'm going to see how it acts this time around and see if we can get to the bottom of the issue of how the dock and tablet are charging together.
I am assuming that you are having a problem with the dock and tablet not charging together because you have the disconnect issue, which should be fixed once you get the latest firmware update.

Well that 60% charging tallies with what I've just witnessed... the dock charged the tablet to 66% before giving out.. but I had to put the TF into "WiFi always on mode" before it would charge with the lid down (compared to the "charging sleep" that I was experiencing in either Airplane mode or "WiFi off when screen off" modes)
Wonder if that's been fixed with the firmware update.. can anyone with the update confirm that the tablet will charge in those other WiFi powersaving modes?

[Q] Tablet Not Charging After Using Dock? (How does this make sense?)

I've never had any problems with charging before until today I finally found a keyboard dock for my Asus Transformer. I plugged it in and tried to charge it but it was not charging. Then I unplugged the keyboard dock and my tablet itself would not charge. Did docking the tablet cause this problem (maybe the update it installed upon plugging it in) or is it a coicidence that my cable just stopped working. Either way I'm freaking out!

I may have the same issue or a simiar issue before with the charging but later I found out it wont charge when it at a certain percentage. Basicly if the % around 95 then it wont charge but for example you at 70% then it should start charging again. i would say it like a preventative measure to prevent over charging. If that was the case then this should be the reason.
On a side note I recommend dling dual battery widget so you know how much batter your dock have and tablet so you will not be charging it all the time thinking it might be out soon.

[Q] Asus Transformer Dock not Charging [SOLVED]

Just got the dock a few days ago and it charged up fine the first day. Then a few minor glitches started.... the tablet wouldn't wake up from keyboard input or trackpad input. Now, the dock wont charge at all.
Dual battery widget shows it at 0%, and when I apply the charging cable, the LED shows green (when the tablet is at 100%). So it's almost as if it doesn't even see the dock battery.
Any ideas?
UPDATE: This issue has been SOLVED! See post #3 for my solution.

If you just got it, then it is in waranty. I would send it back for repair since they will replace it with a functioning one. My dock did this (although it was, like, a week after my newegg waranty expired) and I sent it into asus and they replaced it in a little under 5 days.
On a side note, have you tried removing the transformer, waiting about 10-15 seconds, and then replacing the transformer back on the dock (while the dock is not charging). Also, does the transformer show it is charging when you put it in the dock with under 90% charge? The dual battery widget sometimes says I have no charge on my dock when I clearly do. To fix it I just remove my transformer from the dock, wait a little, and put it back in aaaand: voila, it works perfectly.
Oh yea, and try disabling "power saving mode" in the settings under input if you want to wake up your tablet with the keyboard or trackpad.

Thanks for the tips. I tried all of your suggestions, and nothing worked. The weird part was - every time I plugged in the dock, the light displayed solid green (indicating 100% charge on both batteries), but dual battery showed 0% charge on the dock. This got me thinking that the dual battery widget was not reporting correctly.
I then found a tip on another Android forum that suggested plugging in the dock to a USB port on a PC - waiting 5-10 minutes - and then trying the AC wall charger again. I did this, and boom.. the dual battery widget showed 100% on both batteries.
It's been working fine for about a week now, with no repeats... I have no idea what the problem was. My only guess is that the dual battery widget freaked out the first time the dock went to 0% charge. It seems it's reporting fine though now, even after the dock hits 0%.

I have this problem too, the led in dock always blinking in orange and dual battery always shows 0% ( of Dock) and i also changed the charger and changed the roms , but still not charging, what should i do?

I had RMA's my TF101 as it had completely died on my following ICS upgrade, Asus returned my tablet with ICS 4.0.3. For around 3 days I was using it very happily, no more reboots, no screens of death, I was so happy.
Then one morning after recharging my tablet while docked, I checked the dual battery monitor and it showed the dock battery rapidly fluctuating from 100% to 0%, it would show fully charged when plugged into the wall.
I was about to RMA the keyboard when I saw your post, plugged the keyboard into my laptop USB, left it probably 5 mins, then attacehed the tablet, dual battery widget showing both batteries correctly and no flucuating readings.

When you plugged the dock in to the usb, did you get a light on the dock? having the same problem!

Tf201 Dock won't charge

Just bought a used TF201 dock, but Im not sure it works properly! How do I see the firmware version? How do l see how much the battery is charged on the dock? The widget with both batteries says 0% in the dock even though it has changed for many hours.
If I press on the Dock Connected sign it just says 0%. The LED lamp of the dock flashes red when its charging, not constant red as the tablet does.
Is the dock defective or why won't it charge? Does it need firmware update? I can use all the other functions of the dock BTW.
It says 'TF201-DOCK-0207'
is that the correct firmware? How do I update the firmware?

That's really weird. It should be solid red when charging the dock. Im assuming you tried a reboot with the dock plugged in. If you plug the charger into the tablet does a charging insignia show up? If not then you probably don't have enough voltage to charge the dock as you would be "trickle charging" the tablet

If its not a voltage issue then you may have a bad charger, bad dock keyboard or bad tablet. I would first test the charger and tablet first. If that proves to work I.E. the tablet charges then I would move the tablet and charge the dock keyboar. If that works then insert the tablet into the dock keyboard and see if the charger will do both. Remember that the tablet will NOT charge the tablet with. It's battery until the tablets. Battery goes below the 70% threshold.

The adapter charges the tablet with or without the dock. The dock however doesn´t recharge whether its with the tablet or not :crying:

By what you're describing you aren't actually charging the dock is what people are saying. Usually charge is constant orange/red not flashing. If it is flashing when you are charging something is wrong. Does the dock go to green when on the charger for a period of time like a few hours? If not it's not charging.

The dock doesn't charge. No matter how long its in the tablets charger it just blinks red. Even after being charged all night it still flashes red. No constant red or green.

Sounds like the dock is bad. If it's under warranty send it in but don't tell them you're using it with a TF700 just say it won't charge with or without a tablet inserted

I've purchased a TF300TG for a month and the package came with both the tablet and the keyboard dock. Initially I did not use the dock as I did not require that much of battery life, but recently I've started to use the tablet connected with the keyboard dock.
The thing that I'm uncertain of is which is faster:
1. charging both the tablet and the keyboard dock separately
2. charging keyboard dock with the tablet connected

Well charging them together is recommended, if you own two charging bricks like i do you can charge both the dock and tablet separately at the same time.

Sadly I only have one charging brick >< but if charging both of them together is recommended, then I would like to ask something related.
By charging both the tablet and the dock together to 100%, the dock will eventually be squeezed dry by the tablet to 0% while the tablet itself still have plenty of juice left. Do I charge when the tablet notify to charge due to low battery (~14%).
As I read through several forums which stated that letting the battery die completely is not a good practice, is the following method of charging a good method:
1. Charge tablet with dock together to 100%.
2. Disconnect the dock when the dock battery reaches below 15%.
3. Repeat until both the tablet and dock reaches below 15%.
