[Solved]Sprint/Virgin S5 refuses to accept Odin - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Grrrrrr
I have read everything I can find and nothing seems to help. I feel like an idiot.
When I try to do CFAR, it seems to be going just fine, then the green bar turns red and it says "Fail."
Okay, I am an old lady, but this is not my first try at rooting--every phone I have had has been rooted, and it has never been a problem at all, until now. And I cannot seem to figure out why.
Anyone able to help?
It is a basic SM-g900P running 5.0

Easiest way for me is to ODIN TWRP, boot into recovery, choose reboot, then root from the options there.
Are you trying to avoid installing a custom recovery?

No, I definitely want a recovery
I have tried Philz, but not TWRP. I will see if I can get TWRP on there. Thanks!
Not sure if this is any help, but the last line in Odin reads "FAIL (Auth)"
Let me see if it is any different with TWRP

::Happy Dance::
Rooted!
If anyone else has this problem, make sure under settings that Reactivation Lock is not checked.
Settings-->Security-->Reactivation Lock-->uncheck

Thanks for trying to help Moren! I appreciate it

Cant update phone/flash with odin/root

*Copied mostly from my topic on AndroidForums*
/*from June 27th, thread start*/
So I found out that on the 25th or 26th there was an update for the Verizon GS3. Every time I try to update, it gives me this error (see below) after it reboots. I should also probably note that when it reboots, you briefly see "Booting into recovery" in the top left corner, though it doesn't actually boot into recovery. I was rooted, but I did a full unroot with SuperSU, and it still doesn't work. I dont want to flash a stock image because of all my app data that I do not want to lose.
Here is what the update screen looks like: i . imgur. com/oC04moq.png
And after the "update": i . imgur. com/oC04moq.png
Scroll down a little bit on that same box: i . imgur. com/iSqwQl0.jpg
Please someone help me! This is driving me crazy!

So its been about 3 months now. Problem still persists. Again, I can not flash anything with ODIN(307), or update the phone. I have tried with Kies and in the phone. I can boot into download mode and recovery mode fine. Any help would again be greatly appreciated. I don't have access to my pc atm but any suggestions are still appreciated.
*The phone runs flawlessly, I just want to be able to root again *

"I would wind this back to the start.
It may not be just a phone issue. Uninstal kies and any android drivers and reboot.

Been on this for about 10mins, videos I have seen have done nearly instantly. I don't want to disconnect anything...
EDIT: I tried again twice. Same issue. I'm going to uninstall all drivers etc and try again.
Nup, still not working. Any more suggestions?
So far I have tried:
Odin(for root)
Kies(for updating)
Casual
Uninstalling kies/drivers and reinstalling and retrying all
All recognize the device, but nothing happens.

Now I'm here. I've never seen or heard anything like this before. Please post any suggestions you might have. I am down to try almost anything.
Sorry if I'm breaking any rules or anything. I just want this resolved.
And sorry for long post.
I'm assuming you've done all this with the same USB cable? Try a different cable (preferably the included one), different usb port, and also a different computer.

I can't even tell what is going on, this post is very confusing. Is Odin giving a fail message?
1. Odin should work, if it doesn't in a normal circumstance, then this method will work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030. This is will wipe all your data, but you'll be good to go from there.
2. Why did you unroot through super su? What rom are you running right now?
3. You can try using this image:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114, then after you do this method you can run casual and root from there, while preserving your data.

Thanks to both of you!!!!!! I used a different port on my PC, and used the nowipe image BadUsername posted, and now I'm rooted, custom recovery, unlocked bootloader, and no data loss!! Again, thank you so much.
:highfive: yea teamwork! And last thing I'll suggest is to backup your IMEI if you haven't done so before.

Comprehensive IMEI/EFS Backup. I'm not sure why your IMEI would reset to 0 after doing a factory reset following an Odin flash of root66. I can't recall that happen off the top of my head.
Edit: I haven't had any issues with Odin flashing VRBMF1 tar, if you want that then here it is as well.

Restoring your previously made IMEI backup has no effect? Does your IMEI restore itself when you Odin flash VRBMF1?
cant get mf1 tar yet. afh is blocked at work and i dont have internet at home
i might be able to get it tonight or tomorrow though(i hope)
does doing that factory reset make me lose root also? i cant get busy box to install. two different apps and they both crash when trying to install

[Q] HELP! Verizon Galaxy S 5 Bricked / Stuck In Boot Loop

Problem resolved thanks to bweN diorD!

Hey everyone, I figured this was the right section to post a question, sorry if I was mistaken.
So I recently rooted my phone and tried to install a custom ROM on it, turns out the ROM I selected was probably for the wrong model or something because my screen was just black. So I booted into recovery to try and restore it on the ROM I backed up and it was gone so now I'm kinda ****ed on a phone for now, before I look into buying a new one I wanna see if there's any way I can resolve this and unbrick it.
When I turn the phone on it just loops the booting screen and when I boot into recovery it just has the droid dude with an exclamation mark on it then turns off and does the boot loop.
I was wondering if maybe there's a file I can put on an external drive and it will automatically restore back to stock like on other devices.
I've done a lot stuff like this to my PS3 just never tried it for my phone so I'm just hoping there's a method out there for me, please provide any feedback or questions about it, I'm just trying to get this resolved and I have no time really to research it because of work and a newborn baby plus you guys would know more about it than me so yeah. Thanks!

Alright thank you! I'm pretty confident this will work, once the stock ROM file finishes downloading, which it doesn't seem that it wants to work. I've downloaded it 5 times now and every time it's done it's a fail.. I'll keep trying though.

[Q] N5 stuck on startup screen

Hi, decided to make this thread since I'm not getting help from the Ask questions thread. Friend of mine had me look into a N5 she got used and it's not working and wants me to see if I can get it to work. Thing is when you boot it up, it takes you to to the startup welcome screen no problem right to the 1st step which is choose a language, as soon as I select any language the screen stutters and the coloring goes all weird and goes to a black screen and sometimes reboots and back to the same welcome select language screen. I already tried wipiing everything, unlocking bootloader and wiping so I can get it back to stock as if it were new, I have no idea what they did to the phone but after doing that thought it would fix it but still having the same issue, any clues on what else to do? should i give up?

That's so strange. It seems like it would be a software issue but if you're 100% sure you were able to successfully flash a factory image then I really don't know what's going on. What software version did you flash? I would try to flash a factory image for a different software version. If you're on KitKat then flash a different KitKat image, if on Lollipop then flash a different lollipop image. Make sure to either run the flash-all.bat or to flash EVERYTHING in the image file that gets flashed in the script. That way you know 100% that the phone is back at factory conditions. If you're going to do it manually just open the flash-all.bat with a text editor and follow all the steps that are in the script and in that order. Take a screenshot of the terminal screen for me when it's done flashing.

Phone was on kitkat so I did it with kit kat, I just flashed 5.0.1 on it and it did go through because it did boot to the Lollipop Welcome screen but same thing happened as soon as I selected a language screen stuttered and stopped working.

So this happened on KitKat as well as Lollipop? I don't know what to tell you then, it seems like it's a software glitch but that's pretty much ruled out. I wonder if it has something to do with data... like it's freaking out when it gets to the point that it has to transmit/receive data. Try doing it with WiFi on and off, SIM card in and out, and try flashing a different radio. If it still does it every time then I guess I'd RMA it.

Unfortunately I can't set any of the setting such as WiFi on or off because as soon as I tap on something the screen goes off, I guess it might be hardware (screen) related, thanks for your help.

No, I later found that some of the hardware inside (motherboard maybe? not sure which part) but that it was most likely from some irreparable damage to it, and it seemed worthless looking for a piece of an old phone to repair.

Galaxy S6 Edge [SM-G925F] - Stuck in TWRP Bootloop/Caused by SuperSU

So my S6 Edge (O2UK) is stuck in a recovery bootloop, It can go into download mode.
Things I have tried
Reflashing firmware (Odin fails at hidden.img)
Clearing cache etc in TWRP
The bootloop was caused by SuperSU as it asked me a question about TWRP recovery and something obviously corrupted or is badly configured.
Any help is appreciated!
Have you solved your problem? I've got exactly the same....
Could anyone help on this?

In the future, when it prompts to root, don't swipe to allow it.
Now reflash the rom, either stock or custom.

I also have G925F.
Open Samsung Kies on your computer, plug your phone in. Select tools then firmware upgrade and intilisation. Let it do its thing. I was in same place but not because up super SU but because of the Dm verity.zip i forgot to flash over the top of TWRP.
I tried all sorts going back to stock worked to get it running. And I wont be messing with root on Sammy devices anymore. Too much to go wrong, and most tuts at rooting are not complete. Get a One
