My Nexus 5 doesn't show battery level, baterry usage, indicator is empty, but N5 working fine.
I don't know how to solve this problem... Maybe battery replace can fix this problem, or it's smthg serious problem with my motherboard
Please help me becouse i love my N5 and i won't to say goodbye to him
Grettings

Reboot? Factory reset?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I tryied it couple times and no changes ... And there is problem when batt drain it`s hard to power on

Hi any update on this? Have (more precisely will maybe buy) a 2nd Nexus 5 with this issue, has anybody come across a solution?

Bought the phone, disassembled it, and it turned out the battery connector on the motherboard is damaged. It powers the board but does not send battery level information. So if anyone comes across this issue, I think the only resolution to this issue is to replace the motherboard.

it need a calibration battery.

Try a replacement battery, if that doesn't work, try to manually solder the battery connectors to the motherboard (under the motherboard connecor are 3 soldering connections, google which one is which)

Cruise charge prolem

I have a very annoyeing problem, my cruise stop accepting charge the led is lighting and the status when i plug it into power is charging but nothing happen,or it charge and empty the 100 % in 10 min , i bougt the device from uk and the local agent refuse to check it ,ofcoyrse i am not using the offical rom plz plz plz advice me what to do
The first thing i'd check is the charger. Try using a PC to charge the Polaris instead of the charger you are currently using. If it works, get a new charger.
Next thing, i don't know what part of ROM is responsible for the charging circuit control, but i would try & look it up on the forum, and reflash that part of ROM with the original.
And just in case everything else fails, i would start messing with the circuitry, but i would really hope it doesn't get to that, cause today's electronic is really hard to fix, with all those 10++ layers PCB's, BGA chips, hardly identifiable SMD components, etc etc.
Thank you very much for your reply,te problem is i tried all you mention and the problem still the same any advice now?
Try cleaning the the battery contacts, the battery connector contacts and the USB connector contacts. Try replacing the battery with another one, if possible (preferably a 100% working one, for example, try swapping batteries with a friend, just to see if the battery is causing the problem).
And, sorry to disappoint you, but HTC build quality is quite bad, hence, it can easily be a hardware problem. In this case you only have 2 options. Get it to a repair shop/lab or open it up and mess with it yourself. Can't really help you with either, sorry.

[Q] HTC Desire S Charging Problem

Hi All XDA Members I have a problem with my new phone (HTC Desire S) and was wondering if anyone could help me with what might be causing a certain charging problem, soo the problem...
The phone seems to think its being charged sometimes even when disconnected and is failing to charge the phones batteries through the standard wall charger or USB connection, therefore I am having to charge the batteries via taking the battery out of the phone and charging it in a separate dock I have purchased.
Sometimes as well after charging the batteries in the dock then placing them into the phone and turning it on the phones LED orange indicator glows and still thinks its being charged even when it has had a battery unpresent in it for several hours?
Does anyone have any possible outcomes to what this may be because of? Any help would be much appreciated?
The phone is running MIUI Android custom ROM with s-off.
Thanks,
Daniel
NOTE: I know I said "my new phone" but it is second hand and I purchased it with this problem hoping to come up with a fix.
have you tried other roms and experienced the same problem? or have u only ever had miui on it?
Hi, cheers for the quick response, and no I have tried multiple roms so far and all same problem.
Could it be anything to do with me getting cheap replaceable batteries for the phone as they are also not at the standard 1400mah but at 1450mah or should this not make a difference?
Cheers

this could certainly be the issue! so your saying it doesn't have a original htc battery? if i was you, the 1st thing id do is try a genuine 1. try to borrow 1 if u can from a friend or drop into a phone shop and ask. If it doesnt solve the issue atleast u havn't blown 30 quid on an original battery
you should try a genuine battery for sure! also their capacity is 1450mAh not 1400
check amazon uk

Just discovered guys that the batteries are actually 1500mah? Is this the problem and is their anyway to configure the phone to run with these batteries properly?
I am beginning to think whether it could be because of previous water damage if it has suffered from it before, but I would not know or be able to find out myself if it has been water damaged.
I was also thinking it could be this as maybe a possible short it happening on the main board and is causing the phone to think its constantly charging? Maybe?
Cheers Guys!

What makes you say that the battery is 1500 ? It's 1450.
HTC's own website says
Code:
[B]Power & Battery[/B]
Battery type:Rechargeable Lithium-ion battery
Capacity:1450 mAh
Hey guys (apologies I see this is a month old)
The issue Lowery91 has seems to be exactly the same as I had with my desire s. I'm breaking my heart trying to find out what's going on.
I have one of the original batteries that came with the desire S. The phone has these issues without being rooted (which I intend to do to see if I can amend it).
However for me it first started acting strange when I plugged it into a car charger.
Again sorry for rehashing this post but if anyone could shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it.

I'd suggest that you contact HTC support and get them to send you a replacement battery, explaining that yours is faulty, don't send your existing one back.
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
i think it is not a battery problem, i have two htc desire S and one today had the same problem, i tried to change batteries but when i put battery from other desire S i had the same problem, booth batteries working perfectly on second phone.
So i think it is phone problem. Something like voltage loss or etc. Because i thinkphone gets not enouth power to charge battery. But this is only my opinion.

Check this: It was a small pin inside that had come out. It connects the USB to the motherboard and is visible just below the battery. I fixed it in 10 mins with a bit of R&D. Now that you know, it will take you less than 10 seconds.
Having opened up the phone quite a few times now, hopefully i can give a couple of pointers towards this...
There is a small connector with flex cable that connects the USB port to the main board of the phone. To get to this easily, remove the batter, SIM and memory card. Also remove the 4 torx screws at the bottom of the phone and gently slide out the plastic clip that holds the battery in place. You will see this connector at the right side of the phone if its facing down. Just push it up with a small screwdriver and push it in on the connector again. Reassemble.
Hopefully this is the cause of the problem in the first case! Please do this with care..
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked phones/broken usb ports, etc. Please do this systematically and all should be fine.

[Q] Dropped phone and battery issue

Hi everybody,
I recently dropped my phone (HTC Sensation) and here is a list of the different things which happened since then:
My back camera doesn't work anymore (the original app closes when I launch it)
My front camera works with green lines in the middle of the screen
My battery dies pretty quickly (I loose 50% battery in 8 hours in sleep mode and plane mode without touching anything)
Unfortunately my warranty stopped few weeks ago and I don't know if I could find someone skilled enough to fix my issues in a phone shop.
So I have few questions:
Is there a way to diagnosis if my back camera is really dead? If it is dead, should I try to change it myself or is it risky?
Is there a way to fix the green lines issue on my front camera?
Regarding the battery, the power app says that its health is good (and I used an other battery and the result is the same) so it is probably not a battery problem. I also hard reset my phone, it didn't resolve the problem. So do you know if it would be possible to diagnosis the phone and find out where the probleme comes from? Or is it definitely a hardware problem and should I accept it and change the kernel (underclock the processors, lower the voltage) and find a customized ROM to save more battery? If yes, do you have any advice or combo for me?
Thank you guys for your help
Does this mean that it is impossible to diagnosis and fix my mobile phone? o:

Hello, I have a bug with my Nexus battery that no longer charge, the temperature of the battery is rated for -30 ° C but it does not recharge, whether in the ROM, the recovery, the bootloader , I ' have already connect - disconnect the battery several times but still nothing , I wonder if the fact that the phone has heated yesterday (CPU at ~ 85 ° C for 1 H) have damaged the sensor , I would like disabled or ignore it to allow charging of the phone.
It happen once already , I just disconnected - reconnected the battery and it was gone, but here it does not work again.

Not even with a new battery? I wanted to buy a new one aswell :/ All I can think of is to somehow disable the battery temp sensor, or set it to a static value, if possible. I'm not a developer so I have no idea, hopefully someone with knowledge can help us.
The problem is from the battery connector, the connector of "temperature sensor" is not connected, you need to put something between the battery connector and the motherboard cover, that why i did with my new battery, also you may need to twist the battery connectors if it's broken (like me) on the motherboard.
Edit: temperature sensor is the connector at the middle of battery connector.

Could you post some pictures? I'm not sure what connection I should check.
I'm not in my home for now, i will be in my home tomorrow
@Quentincc HALP! I've been using battery saver mode for the last 3 days, don't know how much longer it will last.
So you need to disassemble the phone, straighten the pines of battery connector (if your battery connector is like the photo), connect the battery, put something on the battery connector (not too hard or soft) like the photo and reassemble the phone, if it's dont work you need to re-straighten the pines of battery connector or change the battery connector (not easy) or change the motherboard.
Sorry if my english is bad but google traduction is my friend
The issue is the motherboard connector or the battery connector? The parts are so small I cannot see any problem. I have a new battery coming In the mail. Ibhad changed the battery a month ago and it worked fine for a while then all of a sudden it stopped charging.
Did doing this solved your problem? i am facing same problem.
Hey i am also facing the same problem with my nexus 5, along this i am also facing the problem like sim is not getting detected if i reinsert the sim it gets detect for 15-20 mins and again shows no sim available.

What did you do to fix it? looks like a piece of tape behind the connector?!?! doesn't make any sense. also could you post a picture or 2 of your exact fix?

it is occurred due to lose connection of battery with battery connector..
Fixing a tape onto that connector make the the connection intact.!
Changing battery connector can solve the problem but i haven't done yet...
are you facing the same problem?

Actually, realizing 2 things after closer inspection. The battery connector specifically the one that reads temperature is damaged and OP modified the connector on his motherboard, idk if he resoldered it or what but I can tell cuz on the original nexus 5 the mobo color shouldn't show thru like his is.

Mine is so malfunctional I have to press so hard the screen might break to get the sensor to function.
How on earth would you go about replacing this part in the home? It is very small. I have a dead motherboard that I could take a working battery connector + sensor off, but getting it off (and replaced) requires specialist tools, like a reworking station, yes?
Alternatively, anybody know of a way to disable to thermal battery sensor? That might fix it, i.e. just turn it off!

Battery Problem, possible motherboard damage ?

Hi all
I have had my nexus 5 for a while now and just as i was flying overseas some strange things happened.
First the vibration stopped working which i knew was a loose connection on the back of the phone. Holding that area down would get it working again. Then the touch display stopped working. The LCD worked but could not touch anything to unlock the phone. I disassembled the phone and assembled it again and strangely it worked again although i didnt see anything obvious. Then is happened again...
I disassembled the phone and played around with it for a while and noticed if pressed down on the connection where the flex cable connects to the motherboard it would work again. but when i would release the pressure it would be funny again. I did this a number of times until eventually the whole LCD/blacklight should shut off. Now i can rarely get it to display anything. The phone is working because the LED light would flash and i can hear the messaged coming through. I just cannot see anything.
I replaced the flex cable with a new one and still the same issue. I replaced the LCD + digitizer + frame and still the same issue. I guess its the motherboard. Can i fix this ??
Now for some more issues:
I bought a broken Nexus 5 while overseas and i swapped the motherboard out and everything works! So it as definitely the motherboard. However, the second motherboard is having issued the the battery. I have every indication the battery is charging. However the battery percentages is stuck on 40%. It would flicker around 39% 40% instantly and when looking at the battery graph on the phone it is noisy, it is not a constant line. The percentage is not a true indication of the battery charge. I cannot get the phone to turn on just by the battery itself no matter how long i charge it for. I have swapped batteries out and i still get the same issue. I have swapped flex cables and still the same issue. Could it be that the second motherboard is also damaged??
I used the amphere app for a while while i had some power and it shows 100mA while charging but a voltage of 0V! When I unplug the cable it will shutoff. Sometimes i cannot even boot it up while charging.
Amphere showing 1%
h**ps://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9KF5ld-Rlu_VWY2eHA5VXE4R3M
What is wrong with these two motherboards?! I do not see anything obvious on the board itself.
I now see the new Nexus 5X is out but i am hesitant in buying it...This is the first phone i have had major issues with.
PS, i gave the latest updated
Thanks for your help guys. I will provide whatever information i can.
It sounds like your 1st phone is having the same problem I have with mine, which is described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/main-board-socket-flex-cable-super-t3217281
Use a magnifying glass to see if any pins on the socket are broken. I still don't know if it's fixable.
