i am having this problem in my nexus 5 with kit kat 4.4.4
all my appointments just vanished and i do not know why. when i try to sync it says that sync is currently experiencing problems and that it will be back shortly.
it is like that since 29 July. i already deleted the calendar updates, cleared cache, cleared data and no luck. i can see all my appointments in my browser but my calendar app is empty.
any tips?

As far as I remember it can be related to bad contacts. Several similar situations (and solutions) can be easily found on Google.
I have tried but no luck.
At first, all my appointments disappeared from my mobile phone even when they are still active when i access them from my web browser. and everytime i made a sync (from the google account menu of the mobile phone) the calendar would not sync and it said that it was a problem related with google servers.
i left it alone for some days but thought it was strange for google to have the servers with problems for so many days. after some research i tried to clear cache, clear data, disable calendar and enable it back again.
this did not help me either. but from a clean installation, i tried to add my account again (before updating to the newer version) and i wasn't allowed to do it. after updating to the newer version, i still cannot sync it. now, from the google account menu of the mobile phone, i do not have the option to choose calendar as it is not there anymore. i have all the other options like chrome, contacts, drive, etc but nothing related to calendar.
i really need to make it sync as part of my life is related with appointments and calendar really helps in that.
I also tried to create new appointments all over again but when i try to do so, the calendar app just stands there with a little circle that never stops rotating.
i am using kitkat 4.4.4.
i hope to have some help as i have tried a lot of options but nothing solved my problem.
I recently backed up my Galaxy S6 via Smart Switch and then carried out a factory restore due to some other issues.
I have restored my phone using smart switch and everything has worked ok except for S Planner calendar.
I get a message saying
Unable to Sync Calendar.
To use Sync calendar, tap SETTINGS, go to App info > Permissions, then allow the following permissions: Calendar.
Although I have to go through a different set of directions to get to the permissions it appears that they are allowed but the calendar still wont restore from the back up.
Help as there is a lot of info in my calendar that I need.
Thanks in advance.
I just picked up the S3 yesterday and sync'd to my S6 phone. But my calendar events are not appearing nor are my contacts sync'd?
Am I missing a permission or something or will the contacts or calendar not sync?

Got mine yesterday. Can't tell how I did it but Google Contacts and Google Calendar have both synced. What happens if you open Contacts on the watch?
The watch just asks to add contacts. I don't understand why it won't sync. I may factor reset it. I had another device sync'd before the S3, I have since deleted it.
So I tried doing a factory reset and reconnecting the phone and watch, I still can not sync my contacts or my calendar.
Any help please?
If this doesn't work I will be returning the watch, this is ridiculous.
My original S2 had not issues with the sync.
FWIW, I've had no trouble with my contacts or calendar syncing either. Are all the permissions for Gear S Plugin and Samsung Gear enabled?

I went thru my permissions and enabled everything thru the plug in and gear. The calender now populates vbut my contacts still won't sync. Trying to think of what I am missing?
So I reset all phone permissions back to factory and now the contacts are in. Thanks for the assistance.
Now, ifor they will make a good stopwatch app I will be happy.
hmm. I had an original gear, with some sideloaded apps to connect it to my op3. I ended up having to delete all of those, then redownload the new gear app (not just update it). then my gear s3 worked ok.

I don't find anything wrong with the built in stopwatch or Tyne one on the built in watch face Chronograph+. Failing that install Watchmaker and download one of hundreds of faces with a stopwatch (or make your own).
Well i cant seem to sync my contacts with phone. They are blank...just showing numbers...in the app i have default gmail contacts but they are not on watch.
All records about duration and calls from phone are on watch i mean time and numbers but no names...my contacts are blank... All permissions are set right i believe.
I am lost.
Can anyone help me?
Snap. I have a Gear Sport and have the same issue. For some weird reason the 4 contacts I have saved to the SIM card show but nothing else. Driving me mad!
Same here on gear s3, a few contacts showing only!! Any suggestions on a fix? Thanks.
Weirdly today one more contact showed up. Can't think why, I haven't called, messaged or altered that contact. Baffling.
I've been investigating to see what the correlation is between the contacts I can see, but cannot pinpoint a common theme. Contacts coming from different sources, same/ different fields filled in etc. Strange!!!!!
It is an issue with "history" I think. Contacts added after Tizen 4 update are shown usually. Same for messages, only the ones received *after* the update. I reset my watch today, contacts have sync, but not messages...

Just added a new contact to my phone and its synced to watch? I'm going to backup all my contacts and restore, let's see if they then all sync back to watch.

So backed up all my contacts in all accounts, (test import file is valid first), deleted all contacts, re-imported and all contacts now sync with watch
Do you have your messages in the messages app or only new ones?
cabbage65, thanks for posting a solution. I have the same issue after an inadvertent reset of my Frontier S3 following the Tizen 4.0 update. Prior to the reset everything was golden. I have not tried your solution but it looks promising based on a sample I did. Have you had any adverse issues or cautions you care to share. Thanks again.

Hello all, so following a comment regarding new contacts got transferred to the Watch, I thought what can I do for all my contacts be transferred to the watch. I thought what can I do, well deleted my contacts in my all accounts. So I did the following, but use at your own risk:
1. Backed up all my contacts in all my accounts on respective websites, google, office etc.
2. Tested I could restore above backups
3. On my phone, deleted all the contacts in all my accounts
4. Wait until the accounts resysnc
5. Import backed up contacts into each account
6. Wait until the accounts resysnc on your phone
7. Wait until the accounts resysnc on your watch
8. Repeat 5-7 for each of your accounts
Hopefully a fix will be released shortly.

Yes in the default app. On my side I only have access to recently sent messages (those sent or received after I upgraded the watch to T4). ON top of that, if I delete a message from the watch, it's not deleted on the phone, and if I delete from the phone, it's not removed from the watch either. In a nutshell, only the send/receive actions are synced, nothing else.
Gear S3 Classic & Frontier sync with a Galaxy S9 Pie, after watches Tizen 4 update I had Contacts syncing problem to, the solution for me was:
1. Uninstal Galaxy Wearable App
2. Uninstal plugins
3. Restart Phone
4. Reinstall Galaxy Wearable
5. Reset Watch
6. Pair with phone again
7. Regive all permisions on resync
Now all contacts, messages, calls are resynced, because all their need was a permissions reset.
I also had this problem. When i imported my Google contacts to my Samsung account each of them appeared on the watch. On Tizen 3 Google contacts showed... I'm getting enough of Samsung, it has a lots of problems. Annyoying bugs, amateur programming.
I have this problem also after updating to Tizen 4. I tried the solution of SirVss above but point '7. Regive all permisions on resync' does not happen. Neither the phone or the watch is asking for any permission related to contacts (only weather, location etc). I tried several times by resetting the watch while on the phone I disabled Galaxy Wearable (I cannot uninstall - it comes with the phone preinstalled), erased its Cache and all Data. However, I think by doing this the erase was not full either on the watch or on the phone as the name of the watch remained as I put it before Reset and while pairing them again they seem to 'know each other' as I was not asked many parmissions.
As an observation other 2 watches of my friends (we bought them together) paired with a Samsung S8 And S6 Edge work fine after passing to Tizen 4. Am I doing something wrong with Resetting everything? Thx.
Update: I recently uninstalled the Gear S plugin. After reinstalling I had to pair my watch again and the contacts have reappeared.
I fixed my contacts sync issues by clearing the data from the Gear S Plugin. Backup your S3 before you do this as after clearing the data one of the steps to complete the process requires resetting the S3.
