Lock screen lag/slowness? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

Hey everyone I noticed that if I have notifications and unlock my phone (swipe and fingerprints), it's pretty fast to unlock however if I'm on the lock screen and click a notification (perhaps a text or Snapchat), then unlock the device, it's slow as hell. Can anyone else confirm this? Any ideas as to why it's slow when you select a notification then unlock the device?

Yeah, I've noticed my lockscreen has always been very buggy when opening notifications from it. I always unlock first and then go to the notification menu now. So far I haven't heard anything about how to fix it.

It's not really a big deal but it's kind of annoying seeing as this is a flagship device. I don't remember having this issue with my Note 3.

No doubt. I've never had the issue on any of my previous devices either. Hopefully we get marshmallow soon (and by soon I mean sometime in the middle of next year) and then it won't be an issue anymore.

Go through recovery mode and clear cache in that. Should speed up unlocking. Common issue so far. Other than that the only other thing fixing it is a reset of just settings

Hm, what do you mean recovery mode and clearing cache "in that"? Can you list the steps involved?

Yea you have to have your phone off.
While it's off hold the home power and volume up buttons all together.
Keep them help untill you see it say recovery booting in the upper left in blue.
Let go of the buttons then
Use the volume down button to scroll the the wipe cache option.
Use the power button to select.
When it shows wipe complete at the bottom you then scroll up to reboot now

Ah okay I thought you were talking to about a different process. I'll try that as soon as I get home. Thank you.

727r, "home" and "search" no longer working ...

Using stock ROM. New phone working OK for a few weeks. Just yesterday the "home" and "search" buttons no longer function properly. If I quickly double tap the home button, the lock screen will flash. Hitting the search button does nothing. When I tap the buttons, they light up but do not respond. Rebooted system, no change. I miss the home button. Any ideas?
Take it in and get a new one

I power off every night and restart in the morning. While this problem was occurring, I did power cycle a number of times.

I see, just trying to analyze variables.
If it keeps doing it root and install cwm..
reboot to recovery and I believe there is a keymap test in the advanced options that would rule that they are indeed physically broken. Odin back to stock and warranty that bad boy if the problem happens again

Camera app opens when unlocking my S6

Hi Guys!
My camera app opens when i unlock my phone. This happens randomly, anybody with the same problem? If yes, any solution? It's very annoying.
Maybe you're accidently hitting the home button twice everytime you unlock it.

Did it do this with the feature turned on? What happens when you unlock the screen using the power button or the wave gesture?

Yes, i have done it with the feature turnd on also and tried with power button and gestures but still have the problem. I have noticed something weird, when i lock the phone after like one second it turns on and then when i unlock it it goes to the camera app. Something triggers the camera app and i know it's not me. I have flashed the stock rom and rooted the phone and still have this problem! This is very frustrating! I dont know what else to do

Do you have any apps that might have triggered this behaviour. It's almost always a dogy app triggering it. Just a thought.

No, nothing that can be related to the camera. I dont have a lot of apps installed on my phone so it can't be that. It's indeed a very strange behaviour.
I have a similar problem. When I unlock the phone sometimes the camera will open. Sometimes dialer , messages, gallery, browser all kind of apps will open by it self. Normally happens with the finger print security turned on. Will try using notmal lock screen to see if it still happens
Just checking. You know if you swipe upd into the middle from the right bottom corner from the lock screen. It automatically unlocks to camera.
Does it happen when you swipe horizontally?

Getting pin/pattern on fingerprint unlock A LOT?

I know it asks for pin/pattern in certain instances like after reboot, when changing users, and after an extended period of time (like 48hrs), but I'm getting the pin screen like 75% of the time. Been like this since I got it. I've re-scanned my fingerprints.
Is the fingerprint scanner relegated to a novelty feature if it's almost always asking for your pin/pattern?
Anyone else getting it to this extent?

I get it sometimes but it's because I have tasker lock my screen when I unplug it from my car. Because it was locked by the "administrator" it requires a pin in addition to my fingerprint.

So having "power button instantly locks" under security/screen lock/settings counts as locked by administrator I assume?

It could be a haywire app. Power button instantly locks is not the reason, because mine is enabled.
I have had this happen to me a few times though... nowhere near 75%, but maybe 1 or 2 times a day with no explicable reason.
I've only used the phone for a day now, but I haven't had it ask for any additional unlock other than the print so far(besides the software update reboot). I'll update once I've used it for a bit longer.
Apparently it was 'power button instantly locks' because I've had no probs since I unchecked it. Just don't remember having that issue on other phones. It locks when you press the power button anyway so don't get the point of that feature.

It must be a system bug then, and I suggest you report it from your phone using the feedback/bug report function. I have "power button locks immediately" enabled and like I said, 99% of the time it works fine and unlocks with fingerprint. So it must just be a software bug.

Bypass bootloader unlocked warning

Wondering if it is possible to bypass the prompt which requires you to press the power button upon reboot?

You have to press a the power button at the warning screen to finish booting? Odd. The warning screen on my phone says to press the power button to pause the boot process.

Yes I have the same, but I'm wondering if there is a way to bypass the screen from ever coming up in the first place.
A simple 30 second Google search shows this has been asked before. No solution.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/removing-unlock-bootloader-warning-t3716114
Even though it was asked for the XL, it's basically the same non-solution.
Too bad. It's yelling at phone thieves, "Hey! This is an unlocked device. ..." (You know what the rest of that is.) We can have the phone black-listed in the US, but that's not going to find it for us. At least if they had to figure out that it was unlocked (which most of them are probably incapable of), it would give us a chance.
Hey, Google! Change that, huh? (Even if we have to hex-edit the firmware? Just let it boot without the notice?)

Finger print scanner/home key

After this last update my home key seems to have glitched. I keep getting the "Make sure the home key is clean and dry and try again." It has been swiping down the notification menu on its own, and I am unable to use the fingerprint scanner at all. My phone has also seemed much slower since this update.
me, too. do you have any updates on this?
No, nothing yet. It has calmed down, but I am still unable to use the fingerprint scanner and it will still pull down my notifications from time to time.
Overall phone speed seems to have returned though.

Maybe worth wiping cache partition from stock recovery?
Hold in vol up and bixby buttons then press power button. Keep the vol up and bixby pressed in till it vibrates and shows a different screen.
Tried it
I tried this after searching the internet for any tips. Still no luck. I am still completely unable to use my fingerlrint scanner for any application, my notification bar still pulls down, though not as much, and the phone speed is back at a crawl..
I'm really annoyed at this point and don't know what to do.

Maybe this will help you.
There is a setting that sets te button to pull down the notification bar.
Go to Settings, Advanced features, Motion and gestures, Finger sensor gesture.
See if it's on or off.
Hope it helps.

Hello,
I've had this feature turned on since I got the phone.
When the notification bar pulls down, it is not an accidental touch on my end- it has done it with the phone sitting on the table, and locked!
I have wiped the cache, restarted, and hard shut down my phone numerous times and still no difference. Storage isn't anywhere near being full, and I'm not using it any more than I normally would- if anything its being used less.
I am not able to add new fingerprints either, as I'm getting the same error that the sensor needs to be clean and dry.
Then I think there is only one solution, get it fixed by a repaircentre. I think sensor is broken.
