Is there another app that can delete all but the 50 or so recent text messages? I don't want them deleted for being old or deleting all of them.

I'm using the stock messaging app and I'm getting tired of typing in who I want to text only to receive a whole list of facebook people and gmail email addresses.
I only want to see my gmail phone contacts.
I have it set this way under contacts itself.
But going to messaging then the contact lIst from there just lIsts everything possible.
Any way to address this?

I have been using SMS Backup+ for around 4 years. It is free and backs up everything to gmail as conversations or emails.
Looking to send a group text on my Nexus 5.
I created the group in People, it has 7 people, but how do I send to them?
The group doesn't show up in hangouts, any ideas?

I don't think the groups in contacts work for sending messages. You can add multiple people to a text to create a mms or you can send a text to a circle.

There are plenty of notifiers out there for the SW2, some work well and some apparently not so good. What I am wondering is whether anyone has developed a whatsapp application that actually allows you to reply to messages, perhaps by using preset messages in the same fashion that the sms app allows you to?

I believe that currently the only way to do these (and many other similar) things is to use Tasker. You would need to create a Tasker task to reply to Hangouts messages with pre-defined texts, and then trigger that from the watch

Hello.
I get a lot of spam text messages and I want to filter them out based on certain keywords. I am currently using Google hangouts. Is there any way I could block or filter them. I'd prefer that I keep using hangouts and not install a new messaging app.

Unfortunately no, you cannot with google hangouts.
Also, google hangouts MAY soon be dropping SMS support so you will need to install a new messaging app eventually.
