Then you didn't root successfully.
Have you unlocked your bootloader?
Have you installed a custom recovery?
Have you flashed either SU or SuperSU?

Then you're rooted if you did all this. Otherwise, you forgot a step.
Hi, there.
I came from a Samsung device, I'm used to flash the stock firmware when a official update was out then root the device again.
I have a brand new Moto G3, locked and unrooted. If I do the process of unlock the bootloader and rooted the device will I able to flash a stock firmware and receive the Android 6.0 once it is out?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, as long as you unroot before the update. I use SuperSU for my root and use the SuperSU app to fully unroot before I update.
Just reflash the stock rom and relock your bootloader. You would be able to receive all official updates from Motorola.

Is supersu works in unrooting
Just fully unroot and then flash the stock firmware, relocking doesn't matter. I'm looking at you @kaustubh_lipare.

Hi everyone!
I just got my Nougat 7.0 update a week ago in Hungary.
I would like to know, is there any method to root the device WITHOUT UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER?
I read that is possible like this way: run fastboot boot recovery.img and flash the superuser zip there
Is this ok to root my A9?
Thank you the answers in advance.
No the method you outlined has long been disabled

EDIT: you will lose root and TWRP if you flash this, as this brings you back to stock. if you want root, downgrade to 10j, root, install TWRP, then flash 10k which can be found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/h918-twrp-flashable-stock-firmwares-t3619671
can this preserve root?

no... flashing this KDZ, which was provided straight from the source, will bring your device to complete stock and lose root. I'm uploading a flashable zip of this release that should RETAIN root provided you have root and TWRP now.
i have a problem, i cant install TWRP on this firmware, I followed many of instrucctions but i cant install, anybody have this problem???

you need to downgrade to 10j to be able to root/install TWRP. after that, flash the 10k package found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/h918-twrp-flashable-stock-firmwares-t3619671
Can I use LGUp...?
Good day,
First, let me say THANKS for an amazing effort! I've been successful in rooting by installing the H91810j image and performing the dirtycow exploit.
Now, I'm wondering if I can update to H91810k, and still preserve root access, by using LGUp to install the modified 10k image you posted...?
Let me know... Thanks!
Ok I got a V20 today and it came out if the box with 10K is it possible to root possibly through downgrading in lgup or am I going to have to not update and wait for a root for 10k I'm on T-Mobile variant
Drop to 10j...

As far as I've been able to find out (since I was in the same boat), 10k has not been successfully 'rooted' as yet. You'll need to load H91810j and use the dirtycow exploits to enable root.
Once that's done, THEN you can install the modified version of H91810k mentioned earlier in this thread. Be sure it's the modded version, if you expect to keep root access.

Can this kdz be used on an h910 as well? I understand the hardware is the same, but I would rather not brick the device.

I believe all you need to do is boot into fastboot thru ADB and type fastboot oem lock. I may be wrong on the typing part. But that's the general idea. Find out what command unlocks and just do the opposite and type lock instead.
