How to backup all contacts with full res images - General Questions and Answers

I like to experiment with roms and settings and that's why i have to take backups and restore my contacts several times a month. Google contacts sync is worse than useless (reason: suppose one contact has multiple phone numbers and emails, after restore Google always creates separate contacts with those, and it doesn't backup high resolution images).
There are several apps on playstore which deal with this issue but they all fail miserably while backing up original quality contact photos stored in my device. Mcbackup does a decent job but even when photo compression is disabled, is still reduces the quality of saved images.
So please please please help me find a proper way to take full contact backups with original quality contact images. Share your valuable experience.

[Q] Trouble syncing HD pictures in Google contacts

I couldn't find the answer to this question on xda or with a general web search so I hope it hasn't been addressed already.
From what I read Android now supports contact pictures up to 720X720 so I initially believed that if I uploaded a picture larger than that Google would size it accordingly, but that is not the case and when I wiped the phone and did a fresh ROM install they synced as grainy low res pictures. I then resized a few contact pictures to 720X720 and assigned them to the appropriate contacts using the Google mail website and then synced the phone but they sync as grainy low res pictures. So then I transferred the resized pictures to my phone, assigned the pictures to the contacts and tested the whole procedure again and the result is the same, a grainy low res picture.
So is there a setting or something I am missing or does Google still resize every contact picture to 96X96? This obviously isn't a huge deal but when a big ROM update comes I sometimes like to do a clean install rather than dirty flashing the new version but redoing all of my contact pictures makes it a huge pain.

Google Photos, force full backup

Hello,
Last time I wanted to cleanup my Google Photos (mostly from time, when there wasn't free storage). So I've removed all older than June 2015 and now I'm uploading them once again.
Additionally I've removed all photos automatically send by my phone. Then I wanted to re-backup them once again. Unfortunately, only new photos are send to cloud.
I was trying using option "save copy of all" (I'm not sure how is it called in English) from photos application settings but doesn't work. Also removing settings and reinstalling Photos app doesn't help. It still knows some settings (for example my selection of folders to backup) and probably knows which photos were uploaded before.
As I remember from last year, I was often making full wipe and all photos were uploaded each time, but I don't want to make full wipe currently.
Any ideas?
Many thanks and regards,
Maciej

[Q] How to backup local contacts with their high res pictures ?

Hello,
Since I got a android phone, I always had an issue when exporting/importing my phone contacts.
When I flash a new ROM, I'm used to export all phone contact to a .vcf file, then reimporting them after. I use the standard stock contact app feature.
BUT, after having re-importing the contacts, all the pictures contacts are systematically pixelated, and I have to set all the contacts photo again. It's very long, It takes ages.
Does somenone know the solution of that terribly boring problem ?
I know there is 2 pictures associated to each contact : one in lower resolution, used in the app, and the other in 720p resolution we can see when a contact calls us for example.
I've tried many ways to solve the problem : dump and paste the database contact in /data/data/com.contactsblablabla/databases (with, of course, reboot and chmod) and some other stuff like that.. I have explored the contacts database, but no way to find how to solve.
I'm tired of searching, 10 years android exists, there is at least one solution to this courant problem ! I've never found yet.
Any ideas ?
I asked myself the same question yesterday, did a search here and found your post.
Digged a little more, and found some app : Contacts Backup Ultimate
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.specsoft.contactsbackupultimate
Small, free, and it does indeed backup contacts as a XML file and a set of 720x720 (on my phone) pngs.
I haven't tried a restore yet.
Just tried another app that also does the job : Super Backup : SMS & Contacts
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts
It exports a single .vcf file, with embedded 720x720 jpeg (unlike the standard Sony contact apps which exports a .vcf file with only 96x96), which can then be imported by the standard contact app.

[BUG] Google Photo wrong backup , Amazon photos backup doesn't work

I want to advice this 2 problem, with my mi note 10, already rised into this threads:

https://c.mi.com/thread-2727222-1-0.html

Google photo recognize as 0.7megapixel (960x480) photo taken with main camera, and it will backup photos with such this low resolution.
Amazon photos isn't simply able to complete a backup.
Really bad situation here....
I've already triggered mi support, what we can do?
No problem with Google Photos from my Note 10.
Smae identical problem about Google photo
No problem for me, Google Photos backup 27MP and 108MP photos without any issues

Yeah, no problem here either. All photos backed up in full size.
Some of my photos are backed up but others are flagged as 0.7 Mpixels. It's not related to our phone because I found the issue on Mi9T/9T Pro forums. It seems that moving the photos from one folder and back again to the original fixes the issue.
Same problem
Some photos back up fine, but some show erroneously as 0.7Mpix and don’t back up to Google photos. Those ones also erroneously show no GPS location.
Same problem. To correct it I have to clear all the data of Google Photos app and delete low res duplicates. It is really annoying
There is a workaround it (better than clearing the google photos)
the methods are:
1. Open the built-in Photo App. Create an album(ex. G-Backup Album) inside the built-in photo App. This will create a folder with the same name as the album.
2. Select all you photos and click "Add to" button below. Then select the "G-Backup Album" album and click on "Move" option. After this, all photos will be moved to "G-Backup Album" Album.
3. Open Google Photo App, add "G-Backup Album" folder to the list of backup folders in the Setting. Then you will see that all photos are being uploaded normally and the size are shown correctly.
Makesure u dont open the Google Photo apps.. before you do this methods
Hi Wing_Zero85 in my case something similar happens to my "mi note 10".
Neither the amazon photos app nor google photos automatically upload the photos to the cloud.
I have activated all the permissions, I have tried many things and nothing, they do not automatically upload photos to the cloud.
With google photos it doesn't bother me too much, but with amazon photos it does bother me.
For amazon photos to upload photos to the cloud, I have to manually open the app, because it doesn't automatically.
For the other apps, there are no problems, whatsapp, telegram ... they work well in the background, notifications arrive well .....
But what happens with the amazon photos app is very annoying and frustrating.

I found an app called wazzapmigrator its paid but I'll update with the results.
Cuz it will be impossible and so inefficient with copying the messages and photos manually.

Firstly, I don't have What up installed on my device, however I have set up, What's up (Android device) quite a few times for other people.
I told them to backup all, videos etc.( whatever).......
Look in the What's up app settings,( it should be the same as Android.?)
Make sure you do a full Backup to Whatsapp.
After doing a backup.
All you have to do is on new device when setting What's up ... up
for first use it, should recognize the cell phone number and you can do a WhatsApp restore.
I know that it restored all their data.id's etc etc.
You can ask any other members to confirm this.!
Good luck.

Hey, thanks for your reply.
As a reply to your message, unfortunately, as can be seen on the official whatsapp faq in their website, there's no way to transfer datas (including both messages and media) because they use two different cloud storage formats I believe. You can't do it via manual backup or itunes backup cuz they're encrypted differently.
However as I mentioned in my message above, the app called wazzapmigrator did it completely perfect. No message loss, photo or video loss, I've got almost 10000 types of media including gifs, photos, videos, links, when transferring, about 100 was failed which is like %1 and its nothing when you compare with the big picture. I checked the recent messages and the recent photos, everything was there. No problem with gallery, no problem at all. I'm so happy and its worth every penny actually
Well Recently I bought new phone for my mom and I have no idea how to migrate whatsapp data so i google and found application MobileTrabs after using I've migrate data .
