Hi guys, should have my P8max tomorrow, was just wondering if any of you guys had tested USB OTG with it? If it can't do USB audio out then that's going to be a major problem for me (if it doesn't support it natively that's OK, providing an app like USB Audio Player PRO or Hiby Music Player works). Generally anything that has OTG support will work with those apps, so should be fine, but always nice to have confirmation - don't suppose anyone here has tested it out? Any other feedback about USB OTG welcome.
i tested internet via usb otg. It's not working bec. google has disabled usb otg on android 4.4 and higher. why? i don't know. it's stupid google decision.
internet via usb can be enabled but:
1. it's need root
2. it's always need wifi or fake wifi connection
3. stupid google
USB OTG drives work for me, the DACs I have also work, although they need USB Audio Player PRO or Hiby Music to function. Only phone I've tried with functional USB ethernet via OTG was the ASUS Padfone Infinity, and even there I suspect it only worked because the drivers were intended for use in tablet mode.

I know the TF has integrated webcams, but due to the nature of the project I'm working on I need external ones.
I'm wondering if anyone has plugged in a USB video capture device like a webcam into the dock USB ports. What happens on the stock ROM? any other ROM have better results? If anyone has Ubuntu running, any success there?
I have two Lifecam Studio HD webcams that I'd like to get working, one on each USB port. The Lifecams require each to be connected to a different USB root hub. That means that I'd also like to know the hardware configuration of the two USB ports. ASUS could have one controller and a integrated hub (as is done on many laptops). Does anyone know how this has been setup? The only way I know of to test this is to either get two devices that don't work on the same root hub to work or to look at lsusb.
I doubt that the kernel has support for external USB web cams but it is worth trying I suppose.

Any way to make usb otg work in cm11? i've tried a few different kernels and still can't get it to work.
Looks like so far this is the only thread that asks about broken usb OTG. Has anyone found a kernel that allows you to have mouse, keyboard, and USB storage support via OTG? I have never gotten a mouse to work with USB on this ROM, But on stock samsung firmware, you can get a mouse with a cursor and everything. Works with keyboards, and PS3 controllers as well.
But CM11 only has support for USB storage devices. What gives?
Hi I made this thread to find out how I can get USB OTG to work. I have cm 11 s3 mini and want to control my phone by a remote and plug ? flash drives in but have no idea how this works. Also if you could provide a link for a USB OTG cable it would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Hi
Its just plug and play. You plug in the USB OTG cable to the phone's micro USB port and on the other end its a female USB port (the same like in your laptop or pc). So you just put in a pen drive and it will get detected on its own. You can open a file manager app and access it, or you can access it directly from any of your other apps (for example if you use MX player for seeing videos then the pen drive videos will automatically load up in the app as well).
To control your phone remotely I am guessing you mean keyboard/mouse?
If you plug in a mouse, a cursor shows up the next second and you have a working mouse. Same with a keyboard, works on its own. If you want to use both together, you need a wireless keyboard and mouse so that you can plug in the dongle to the otg cable, and then both the keyboard and mouse will instantly start working.
If you have a PS3 controller you can even connect that to your phone and use it to play many games - but this does not work via plug and play, you need to follow instructions to set this up and you can search on xda or google for that.
If you search USB OTG on amazon or ebay you will find loads of places to buy it from in your country.

If device's WiFi isn't working then can we use a USB WiFi catcher router via USB OTG cable? Does it work?
If yes then how?
Please help
Infact I attached an external USB WiFi adapter via USB OTG cable to my device Sony Xperia Z5 which internal WiFi isn't working.
But It didn't work perhaps external USB WiFi adapter needs driver to install in my android device and I was unable to find even by Google search...
I don't understand what is this ****ty thing called driver and in this case apple devices are best they don't need any kind of drivers for any device, you plug any device in an apple device and you'll not have to install drivers for it just plug and play and enjoy.
Now this windows and Android are annoying in this case.....
I got an Anker OTG hub. It works completely if I connect it to my laptop, however, if I try connecting it to my phone, my USB mouse+keyboard combo (wireless with a receiver) doesn't work. It works with other devices, including my laptop's USB C port, and my old phone's USB C port.
I did turn OTG on prior to connecting anything (I'd love (root) to know to keep it on at all times).
I already ensured they work on other computers through that OTG adaptor, and that a USB storage stick works on this phone through it. In addition to that, HDMI works too (the adaptor also has an HDMI port), and the USB C passthrough passes power successfully, as well. No warp charging, but that is to be expected and that's alright.
I have TWRP and everything. Is there a kernel mod I need? I'd be happy to do whatever's needed.
Maybe OnePlus needs some updates
Even i have latency issus with my midi keyboard
But not with op5t
