Droid Mini , intermittant texts not received, Addr.Vcnt? - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wife has an unrooted VZW Droid Mini XT1030. running JB (not sure which version, will check). KitKat 4.4.4
recently have been having intermittent texts not delivered. no error message on sending. they just never get there. in a back and forth conversation 1 or 2 messages out of 10 might not arrive. Happens for multiple recipients on different carriers. MMS is fine. Using default Android messaging app.
all messages show up on VZW's online message log (website login from PC, so the message hits their network somehow.) Posted support request via VZW forums. so far we've verified that a reboot doesn't fix it.
Only thing I notice that seems odd is under message details, the last line for all sent text messages is : "Cause Code: Addr.Vcnt., 0"
Googling brings up a number of old threads back in the Android Gingerbread days, people were often getting that as an error message when messages wouldn't deliver. Also, noticed a number of threads with intermittent delivery issues, similar to mine, and they were almost all Motorola devices of one flavor or another.
Anyone know what that message actually means? I've seen several quite contradictory explanations. Think it's relevant? A red herring? At this point I'm not even sure the problem is the phone vs. something with VZW. Could something on my phone be intermittently messing up delivery?
Second, recommend troubleshooting? If it's the phone, I figure a factory reset's in order at some point. If that doesn't help, other suggestions? Assuming the mini version is right, root/reflash? If it's not the phone... any suggestions for resolving? I was going to port to a VZW MVNO, but if it's a network issue, decent support goes away at that point...
EDIT: correction, running KitKat 4.4.4

Could it be a sim issue? Pull the sim card out and put it back in.
Sent from my XT1254

Will try.
Also, on KitKat not JB

[Q] Can't Send/Receive SMS text messages Droid PRO

I am very new to Android coming from Palm Pre and I purchased Droid Pro and activated it with Page Plus everything seems to work fine except I can't receive or can't send any plain text messages any kind. I haven't been able to receive or send any ever since I got this activated. I have tried everything I could.
I did activation multiple times and still no luck! I am very frustrated at this point and don't know what to do. I really love this phone and it works great including web data, calls but the stupid text messages will not work at all.
As soon as I send a text message I get an instant error message saying text message not sent and it does that for every message. This is just driving me insane since I text more than I talk.
I am getting close to my last resort is the reset this phone to factory which I don't know how to do. My brother uses Droid 2 Global and Fascinate on Page Plus Wireless with no problems. I tried calling multiple sources and no one is willing to help me.
Please help me if you can.
Anybody here know what I can do? I am so frustrated. I know I am missing text messages right now. I hate to go back to Palm... and this is the only Android phone from Verizon that I like so far. I love the keyboard but without being able to send or receive text messages this thing would be worthless for me. I text more than I talk.
This are just random guesses, but i thought i would try:
- wrong sms format (UTF-8?)
- wrong number/address for sms central in settings?
Fixed!!!
After days of fighting with it I got it figured out by process of elimination. For Page Plus Wireless under "Wireless & Network Settings" > "Mobile Networks" > "Network Mode" - needs to be set to "GLOBAL" and not "CDMA" like I thought and after this all my text messages are working properly.
This may be useful to someone later on.
Now if I can get rid of all the bloatware that this Droid Pro came with without rooting I would be very excited. I love this phone so far even though I am missing the true multi-tasking but I am sure I will get used to. I am already getting used to Android and it's only been a few days
Root it and change build.prop
change in system/build.prop
ro.telephony.gsm-routes-us-smsc = 0
This will solve sms problems

[Q] Help - Message Failed and Multiple Messages

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has a similar problem or if it is a unique occurrence. I have an unrooted, stock Skyrocket on 2.3.6. Since the LTE switch went live in Tampa, I will occasionally have a message say that it has failed...however the message has in fact been received as I will get a reply. To make matters worse though, there are times I send a message and the receiver tells me they got the same message multiple times, and I often receive messages multiple times when the sender sent it once. I don't know if this is a problem with an LTE repeater or the phone. Any help or advice would be great.
My wife had that problem with hers a long while back. Factory reset cured everything (she was stock at the time)

[Q] SMS Scrambling?

Hi everyone,
I need some help and I'm just hoping someone on here experienced this before and found a fix. When sending long SMS messages the recipient sometimes receives the message jumbled/garbled/mixed up with another old text that has been sent to them weeks or months ago. So it usually has the first half of the message I send them as the correct text, and then the second half is "pasted in randomly" from an old message.
Hope that makes sense. I have T-Mobile service and I'm using a t999 variant of the galaxy s3 rooted and running a stock ROM.
It still happens even after deleting all my messages. It happens on both the stock messaging app and gosms, so it's not an app specific issue. It also happened before I rooted my phone and after. This same thing even happened on my previous phone, the HTC G2. Also, sometimes the old messages were sent on a previous handset (the G2) & with a previous SIM (same number but got a new microSIM with the S3), so no idea where it had got the old message text from.
Any ideas why this might be happening and what I could do to fix it? My current fix is using gosms and having it split up the messages every 160 characters so it doesn't have the chance to happen. Otherwise if I'm not using gosms I have to stop on my own and start a new text when I run out of characters. It works but gets very annoying.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] Baffling Text Message Problem

I have tried everything from a hard reset to clearing cache to a factory reset, but I cannot seem to figure out why I'm not consistently receiving text messages from one specific sender. In my Verizon online account, it clearly states that this person has sent me a text and that I have received it, but it is nowhere to be found on my phone. This happens regularly, but not consistently.
I have called Verizon, who couldn't figure it out. I switched my phone and SIM, but to no avail. Where is this text message and how do I get it?
Perhaps the other party was able to delete the message before you actually saw it.
RAZR HD
Eclipse V 1.3
That is definitely not the problem. I consistently have issues with this number and text messages. Verizon logs the message as coming in, but my phone never receives it.
Can anyone help?

Question Anyone getting a <Subject: NoSubject> line

Since I swapped my sim into this T-Mobile branded Z Flip 3 I've been getting a "<Subject: NoSubject>" line on top off all my MMS. Getting it on group text on every text, since group texting uses MMS.
Was just wondering if I'm the only one getting this, since I didn't find this on my search?
man... I guess I'm to only one

I'm experiencing the EXACT same thing with my new Unlocked Z Fold 3 (that has a T-Mobile sim card installed). I've spent the last 90-minutes on the phone with T-Mobile support, and they are dumbfounded. Next they are going to reach out to Samsung. (If you do a Google search on this subject, you'll see that it goes back years on various Samsung models on the T-Mobile network.. I've not come across any posts that explain how it was ever fixed. Hopefully they'll find a solution for me, and I'll be sure to reply here, if so.)
As a work around, you could try installing a different messaging app from the Google Play store. I went with Textra. The Textra app does NOT display the "Subject: NoSubject" (even though the "Subject: NoSubject" is appearing in the exact same text message when viewed inside of the Samsung Message app.)
Honestly... without sounding bad, I'm at least happy it's not just me.
You can download Google Messages and it will fix that, but then you are giving Google all your text messages also. You also cannot use "text and call on other devices" with google messages.
I'm almost 100% sure that it has to do with their Messages application
This is the only thing I do not like about this phone. Hope TMobile can fix this asap
is "download automatically" turned on from the messages settings?
you should contact T-Mobile
Yeah, it's setup to download automatically.
I did contact T-mobile and they are aware of the issue
