[Android 6.0]: TWRP 2.8.71 is not installing - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Team, i have updated to android m on my nexus 5. However when trying to root using instructions from: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/how-root-a...ild-mra58k-nexus-5-6-7-9-nexus-player-1522653
I'm not able to install twrp with adb as well as one click recovery installer.bat as mentioned in the article.
I follow the steps and it shows it sent the recovery image and when reboot, it optimizes the apps as well ,however when i go to recovery, i get android dead icons with X.
Not sure what is going wrong
Could someone please help?
Hitesh Pande

Just fastboot the twrp img

[Q] Problem* flashing ICS

After much consideration I decided to root and install ICS from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354263 following this guide.
I rooted successfully and used ROM Manager to make a backup. When I came to installing the mod, my phone is just stuck on this screen -> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7960393/IMG_20111125_125549.jpg
It has been like that for about 15 minutes. Can anybody help me?
Thanks
EDIT: Apparently clockworkmod recovery got wiped :s
Flash a new cmw with fastboot and you'll be set.

Have you tried do go through the steps of the one click root process again? (assuming that is how to you rooted your phone the first time)
If you can boot into the OS, flash cwm twice in a row using Rom Manager. It takes two flashes to get the recovery to stick.
If no OS, push the cwm file using adb.

[Q] ******Please help I bricked my N5******

Hi guys,
I have recently rooted my device and flashed a custom ROM (CyanogenMod), after 2 days there was an update for CM. Update was installed perfectly but then after the reboot "settings" on the phone stopped working. closed unfortunately. I went into recovery mode to flash the previous ROM. I am using "TWRP" recovery tool. This where I have done the blunder, I have wiped the system data and all of it. At the moment phone doesnt have any ROM to boot on. Please suggest me to how to flash the factory ROM or any other ROM. Can't really do anything as the phone wont boot up in regular mode (GOOGLE) thats all.

How?
Having said that I cannot detect the phone in the PC, how can i put the ROM in a folder?
Guess what? He's back!
@Shibazeet
You need to follow this thread to setup adb/fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Use NRT nexus root toolkit 1.8.4
& recommend to install stock image nexus from official google website , just search " stock image nexus 5 "

Use this guide to setup fastboot. Then download the factory image to your computer. Use fastboot to install it and any other future roms.

My friend, you don't use fastboot to flash "ROMs".
Sorry woke up 5min before writing that. Running on 4hrs sleep now. Meant use fastboot to install stock image, flash a recovery. Then use custom recovery to flash future roms. Just pointing him in the right direction. With a little reading, he'll figure it out.

After you downloaded the Oxygen zip did you extract it as per the Oxygen install instructions? The zip that you download contains another zip, which is the flashable zip, that's the one that you flash with your custom recovery. So if you didn't do that that's your problem, do that and then boot back into your custom recovery using the power + volume down button combination, copy the flashable zip to your phone and flash it.

Rooting M with chainfires kernel?? Recovery not available??

Does anyone else find that rebooting to recovery using twrp doesn't happen? I've tried re flashing recovery with fastboot and even selecting in bootloader boot to recovery after and still just boots into android.. Any ideas? Is it chainfires boot.img causing the problem?

Try unplugging phone from power source then attempt to enter TWRP.
I have done. I've just downloaded selinux changer app. Set permissive and then re flashed twrp again and now I can access it.

How you install custom kernel without TWRP?
My device is stock and i want to install elementalx + supersu to root. But i need TWRP first.
Fastboot the img file of twrp then boot into recovery from the bootloader

Got the same problem - I flash the TWRP image with fastboot successfully but when I try to enter recovery, it either reboots or shows me the stock recovery. I'm on stog Android 6, trying to flash a different rom and kernel...
we are on the same boat @granets . when i boot to custom recovery it just boots directly to homescreen.
Have you tried the other kernel i linked above?

Left the boat earlier by downloading TWRP again (for a third time!!!) and it worked fine. Guess when downloading from their site, there is a high percent chance you will get a corrupted file. So far around 50% of all images I download don't work, and every time the problem is different. Maybe try that

I flashed the factory image through ADB and Fastboot and phone into the bootloop then I factory reset the nexus and I checked the version there was 6.0 then I installed TWRP through toolkit and when boot into recovery and reboot the system it again went into bootloop and again I factory reset the device

If you used wugs fresh tool kit. Then the application with automatically root the phone when you chose to install a custom recovery (twrp). Stock kernel does not support root, hence the reason for the bootloop
If this is the case, you will need to flash a kernel, through TWRP, that has root options like elementalx or hells core.

Any Recommended toolkit ?
This would not have happened if you didn't use a toolkit.

I think you may need to read some tutorials and general information first before moving forward. There are some guides in the general forum of this section. Also in the Q&A area.
Read up first before you brick your phone.

I even used One Plus One and it is so easy to install TWRP and nothing happend
but when i installed TWRP on my Nexus It goes into bootloop and the frustrating part is it takes 20 30 to boot up even after factory reset. may be i used the wrong toolkit but i only find one for the nexus 5 Toolkit 2.0.5
Like it has been suggested please read up on some of the guides to understand how to use adb and skip the toolkit.
See these basics ones - http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-nexus-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
I like to keep the commands from this thread handy since it doesn't have much clutter - http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-update-rooted-device-to-5-1-lmy47d-t3050789 - but there are many guides reiterating this exact same commands.
Hope this helps you get out of your boot loop.
