nexus 5- KITKAT or LOLLIPOP - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI FOLKS, need your advice
I currently have a nexus 5 kitkat, rooted with supersu, xposed installer, twrp recovery.
1st, I heard lollipop is pretty much stable with lesser bugs.. should i go for upgrade to lollipop, and rooted, installed supersu, install xposed??? or i should stay in kitkat???
2nd, if i decide to go to lollipop, do i need to wipe my device completely? what are the steps to do the upgrade?
let me know.
thanks.

I would just go with Marshmallow.

Been using it since a few hours after it was released. I think you'll be fine.

Yeah, it is better than lollipop. It's like lollipop was the beta for marshmallow. Windows 8.1 to Windows 10...etc.

Can't install xposed, for root just install ElementalX kernel and flash supersu 2.5.

The kernel https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347832280 you just flash in twrp, then flash supersu https://download.chainfire.eu/741/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.50.zip

how to root 4.4?

Hey guys,
Just wondering if there is a root for 4.4 for the Verizon ultra xt1080
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53964982
Unfortunately, this doesn't work if you've upgraded to 4.4.4 (the latest ota).

Well I did not do the OTA 4.4.4
According to the About screen, I am currently on 4.4
So those instructions should work for me?
Yup!
And If you're still on 19.5.3, you don't even have to do step one
Looks like it all worked. I installed safestrap as well 3.65 version. Not sure where to get custom Roms to use with safestrap on my xt1080.
Please let me know

[Q] is this official lollipop update?

Hello on turning my phone on this morning I am prompted with this (screenshot below) and I'm skeptical about installing it as I love 4.4.2 if I install and do not like can I come back to 4.4.2? Is this lollipop?
Yes that is a Lollipop update. The clue is at V20C.
I'm assuming yours is D838? From which country?
Are you using some mods for the data speed and temperature on notification bar?
Don't worry, you will still be able go back to 4.4.2 by using the KDZ or TOT method

Yes D838 TWN model there is a screenshot if you need anymore info, and yes network speed indicator, CPU temperatur and CPU voltage in the top left as I like seeing what's happening at any given moment, the phone is stock rooted and the mods are through exposed, if I update to lollipop will I loose root? And also my mods? I would like to update but I would really dis-like not having root or my mods as they make my phone just how I like it would feel very bare without them.

Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
A few notices:
- The root will be lost if you upgrade to Lollipop.
- Currently, Xposed Framework does not work on Lollipop.

Thank you I've just had a read and should be fine returning to 4.4.2 if I'm unhappy.
Yes this is what I suspected I hoped I would be able to gain root but I did assume exposed would not work thank you anyway for your helpfulnes! I will install later on and give opinion on how it feels and runs, I will miss root and exposed.

You may get root on Lollipop by flashing zip files (rom and SuperSU) from 4.4 recovery, more information at: http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/rom-d83820c_twn_pure.37488/ . I did this way and got root on my D838 Lollipop device

Currently, Xposed Framework does not support any Lollipop devices, even you have got root.

[Q] Noob question roms

I just want to get this straight before I do anything rash. In order to install a custom rom ie MOAR on my sm-900p if the rom says 5.0.2 does my android version have to be the same or can it be 5.0 and still work without bricking? Along these same lines, is it possible to downgrade to 4.4.4 via the stock room and will there be any issues? I have also read about leaked stuff like I am running 5.0 and if I wanted to somehow get a leaked 5.0.2 rom how does this work?
Thanks in advance.

If you want to install MOAR, check the MOAR FAQ and it should answer all you questions. Post#2 is a step by step on installing. Recommend you stay away from leaked versions until you're more comfortable about how to get out of a problem. MOAR 6.0 is based on the official Lollipop release. If you have any MOAR questions after you've read the instructions, feel free to post on that thread.

Ty for the response, but, I already realize that there is a rom for 5.0 it was just an example. I really wanted to know about the android versions and if they have to be the same ie can I flash a rom that is for 5.0.2 even though my android version is 5.0?

Yes you can. You can also go back to 4.4.x but it requires flashing firmware back for Kitkat.

Should I really update my S6 ?

Should I really update my S6 (actually on 5.0.1 ) to 5.1? If yes, I want to know if I can still root it? What is the new features? What about battery life?
How can I update without losing data / application and keeping the apps order etc.. ?
PS: Can I have xPosed on 5.1?
How can you ask so stupid question?
Of course, less bugs, glitches, more features
and ye you can root, install xposed and keep apps if you install via ota
-.-
How to install via ota ? My device is rooted :/

Its not a stupid question - for one a changelog would be helpful. Lastly, its not unheard of for an upgrade to introduce bugs/glitches that are worse than those in the previous firmware.

I'm not saying that it does have more issues, I'm saying that it is possible and that it is also possible that Touchwiz has issues with 5.1.1 that are not present with 5.0.1. The only way to find out whether that is true is to try the update for yourself or to ask someone who has updated.

latest firmware update - help

i've just got my opo back after a long time not using it because of broken screen.
i need to update it to MM rom and i want to know what is the most recent firmware available.\
i found a firmware zip from the 01/02/2016, is the a newer one?
Tnx ahead!
Here is the latest official Rom for the OPO.
https://cyngn.com/support
It is still Lollipop, there is no update to Marshmallow yet.
If you still want to have Marshmallow you have to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom.
