Hi, I am rather a noob.
I have seen the threads of some people successfully rooted their Flex 2.
But is that done with an unlocked bootloader or it does not matter?
What are the chances to buy a Flex 2 that with unlocked Bootloader?
I wanted to buy a new phone, but root is a must-have for me. I want more control of the device I own.:fingers-crossed:
no problems in Rooting with unlocked bootloader. Only we can't have TWRP.

hi.
ive been hearing about unlocked bootloaders lately. Don't know anything about it.
So... what is it exactly? And is out G2x have an open bootloader?
Thanks
When the boot-loader is locked you you have limitations to what you can flash. You can't overclock to my understanding, and you can't have ROM's like CM7 flashed onto it.
G2x doesn't have a locked bootloader. But phones that do are usually Verizon's Droid line. HTC used to lock them down, but have recently changed their minds.
LG's corporate policy is to NEVER lock the bootloader. If you buy an LG phone the bootloader is unlocked, period. If you want to flash anything other than an official update you must have an unlocked bootloader. Phones with locked bootloaders don't allow you to flash custom recovery and roms. There are ways around a locked bootloader to flash custom roms, but that discussion is beyond the scope of this thread. If you want to guarantee an unlocked bootloader stick with LG phones.
I got my Xperia J on contract on march for two years on Three, It's locked and on my bootloader thing it says Bootloader Unlocked allowed: No, how would I unlock my bootloader? and can I root my phone without unlocking my bootloader? I want to root my phone to add custom roms and to overclock my phone. So could anyone answer my question please?

If it says bootloader unlock not allowed , then i doubt there is a safe way to unlock it.
Nearly every method to unlock such a bootloader are shown only for 2011 devices and i have heard 2012 devices have been patched to stop an unlock by that method.
Also those methods involve certain hardware modifications using bare wires and finding the debug port.
Such methods are highly risky and may damage your phone.

Yes you can root without unlocked bootloader, Framaroot worked without any issues for me, and i don't see any reason why it shouldn't work for you.

You can install Stock based custom ROMs without a unlocked bootloader.
This might help : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2237164
And regarding Non-stock based custom ROMs and overclocking, they are kernel mods and to flash a new kernel you need an unlocked bootloader, sorry

is there no way to root the G withouth unlocking the bootloader?
got the phone for my daughter and she installed a bunch of games and i don't want to have to wipe the phone, just to root it.
There are many threads about how to unlock and root but things get old much fast, I feel like FAQ is too old to follow.
I prefer ask before make same thing wrong.
I have a Moto G 4g with lollipop locked and orginal, so I decide to put new thing now because same things are annoying me in the phone, I think xposed can help me well, so I only need unlock and put root, but need to know the last way to do this, I know unlock is easy but what recovery to flash and how? What I need to root? Is there same problem with xposed in lollipop?
I did come from Razer D3 mediatek, had not unlocked bootloader but was easy to root and te best way to custom was with xposed, so im more "acquainted" with this.
any help on this would be appreciated.
Please someone answers!!
If your phone is not retail and your carrier locked your bootloader, it's not currently possible to unlock the bootloader or permanently root it. You can only temproot it currently.
If you want to flash a recovery your bootloader must be unlocked. You cannot flash anything with a locked bootloader. But if you wish to know, you can use TWRP or CWM for peregrine phones.
Need a new phone and an unlocked bootloader for rooting. Can get one with

Only to have said it: to root a phone's Android phone's bootloader MUST NOT got unlocked before.
