Hello all,
I just received a new Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.2 (KOT49H) bought online.
The vendor, at my inquiry, replied that it was new and not refurbished or regenerated.
The OTA says "up to date" and won't update to lollipop. (I haven't touched anything yet from first boot)
Can't figure out what's wrong. Anyone has any idea?
PS: I checked with cpuz to see if the hardware is correct and it doesn't seem to be a chinese replica. (lol)
thank in advance.
I just bought a new nexus 5, unlocked it and flashed the 6.0 factory image. Not point in waiting for OTAs.
Now, you could download each OTA from the OTA thread in General and sideload them all in turn but that's just long...

The point is that it won't update to 4.4.3 neither... and it seems strange.
Anyone could point to a cause?
Could be the OTAs aren't actively being pushed. As I said, you could maunally download them and sideload them one at a time to get updated OR just flash the 6.0 factory image and be done with it

I have just received my Nexus S back from Samsung service. They had to replace the headphone jack.
My phone shows the they system as at 2.3 and that no system updates are available.
On boot the Nexus shows the unlocked padlock. Would the unlocked bootloader prevent OTA from being available?
Before I sent the phone in for service I reset the phone to factory defaults. Would that have had anything to do with this?
----
Could it be that 2.3.1 and 2.3.2 have been pulled from the OTA servers and 2.3.3 isn't being pushed out?

You just have to wait, it'll push eventually. Or search out the thread titled '2.3.3 link' and do it manually.

Sorry if my post was unclear. I wasn't asking about installing the update. I was asking:
Would an unlocked bootloader prevent OTA from updating?

No, it will not.
So if that wouldn't prevent OTA from updating, is my phone not updating to 2.3.2 because 2.3.2 has been removed from the OTA update server?
Thank you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967953
use the Full ROM link to update to 2.3.3
and yes before you ask. colors will look differently
rename zip to update.zip
put it on sdcard
boot into recovery [vol up + power -> recovery]
flash update
reboot
done.

no, unlocked bootloader wont stop your OTA. as said already, you just have to wait your turn till google servers ping your device to push the update out. it happens in waves. you could do it manually too, but just wait around and it comes eventually.
[Q] [URGENT] Need quick reply about OTA of 5.0 and "system file modification" issue
Hello, i have such a situation now that i require a fast answer regarding nexus 5 and its lollipop update.
If the Nexus 5 device has been rooted using towelroot, and its softkey buttons are changed, will the phone get OTA update?
I have read that it might say that system files have been modified and that it wont let the device update via OTA.

youll get it but wont be able to apply it. but it doesnt matter, you can wait several hours after the files get dropped into aosp for a rooted 5.0 rom to come out, or you can flash the factory img. anyways, all the answers are out there. all you need to do is search.

Thank you for your reply, but now i have another question, how long does it usually take for a stock image of a new android version to get uploaded at Nexus Google developer site?

as soon as google allows it, they will place a link there. so, asap. all they do is link it there, not upload it.
Alright thanks!
Sup guys I got the 5.0 update notification about a week back. I didn't install waiting for some apps I use to be updated. Now that they have the update is gone and my phone says up to date on 4.4.4. I seen the 5.0.1 is coming soon. Did they pull it for 5.0.1?
No. They update people in batches or slots. If you ignore your slot, you have to wait for it to come around again

hi, if you are still interested in upgrading right now, you can always download the image from the official site:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
after downloading, all you need to do is get to bootloader mode (assuming you already unlocked bootloader), changed the flash-all script so it doesnt wipe everything off your phone (or skip userdata.img)
or use one of the many 1-click program available on xda
I am not waiting for OTA, heeeeellllll nooooooo!!!
InoHello everyone.
It has been a long time since my last post....
I bought my HTC U11 128GB/6GB last August and I find it awesome. Since the announcement of the Oreo update being rolled out, I became impatient to try it. I checked and checked for updates... but nothing. Right now it's running Android 7.1.1, SW version 1.27.400.21, with the October 2017 security patch.
How can I find if there are other updates that I didn't receive? How can I find my model number? How can I force the updates?
Info: My phone is already unlocked (it's the first thing that I did after receiving it).
Edit: with Simple CID Getter I found out that my CID is HTC__060. Is it the DUGL/India model? If yes then I guess that the Oreo update didn't arrive yet?
Thank you in advance to anyone that can help me.

I just did a backup. Downloading the first files to upgrade from 1.27.400.21 to 2.31.400.6 now. Do I have to flash all the files? OTA, recovery, boot and firmware? Or only the OTA zip is enough?
Edit:
I tried to install the OTA Zip with TWRP and it gives me an error message. I think I will wait until the official OTA arrives (hoping it doesn't take too long).
The wwe version has only just been updated so you'll probably get the update in a month or so once the carrier is happy with the release. My advice is to wait. Do not root and s-off for it.

I'm looking to the post, and (being S-OFF already) it says that I have to flash a Combined Full Wipe firmware and then the OTA. Does it mean that I will lose all my data?
You can try to connect through the VPN that allows to select server located in India.
Had exactly same problem as OP.
Solution with VPN worked for me. And phone updated to Software version 2.42.400.3

I used NordVPN. They have servers in India.
Update download was a bit slow though.
Thank you very much. It is downloading now. Slow but at least I will have it. Thank you again.

Downloaded the first time with VPN, tried to install it, but it didn't work (I had TWRP, and after reboot I got the message that the update was corrupted). I flashed the recovery from the Google Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...EYtQ_tRcOSJ0vWcvk8a7TK8Hk/edit#gid=2137120377
using:
Code:
adb reboot download
and then:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_1.27.400.21.img
I checked for updates and it asked me to download it again, no VPN needed. Downloaded it and tried to install it (much faster). Phone restarted, update started, and after a few seconds I saw a black screen with a red triangle.. it looks the same as when it's in recovery mode.... Had to restart the phone again.
I'm trying again to download it and I'll check better if I can see the error.
Edit: It goes fast from 1% to 24%, then it stops at 24% for about 19 seconds and then black screen with red triangle...
Any idea what the problem could be?

Sorry, don't think I can be of any help here. Have almost no experience with this sort of things.
In my case I did not do any tweaking with the original OS.
First tried to explore any possible option to get it "official" way.
My only guess would be to try to roll back to the original state and to have no trace of tweaking.

Yes, I will try to do a factory reset this weekend. If it's not working, I will try to follow the instructions on the other post to flash a RUU.
Edit: I did a factory reset, tried to update to Oreo, it still stopped at 24%. I flashed the latest RUU I could find on the spreadsheet, and then after 2 updates I'm finally on Oreo!!!
HTC u11 Oreo update received via WiFi 4 days ago
I need some help. I'm not sure where to go from here. Ok so I have a Canadian S8+ (SM-G955W). A couple weeks ago I flashed what all the articles said was a final release of Oreo just not released yet, meant for SM-G955U, with build number R16NW.G955USQU2CRA1. I've got a couple questions:
1. Is there any new update I should/can flash and where would I get it from?
2. Will I get OTA updates at all if I'm on the software for the unlocked version?
3. I've not had any major issues but my signal has been weaker then before, any way to fix this?
I'm not an expert at this so simple instructions are best. Thanks. ?
If you want to update to the most recent Oreo release, not official yet, it's CRAF. You have to ODIN back to BQL1 then flash the update to CRAF.

Negative. BUT, I'm on CRA9, which was released before CRAF and it runs GREAT, for me. I'll stay on this till official rolls out. Then I could (and yourself) flash back to BQL1 and take the OTA or wait for the ODIN files to be released and flash that way.

Ok. Thanks. And to flash BQL1 in Odin, which boxes do I have to select again?
Auto Reboot, F Reset Time
Was that what you meant? The options in ODIN?

I assume your friend flash the firmware. Check at sammobile.com for the firmware that matches your device, provider, and country.
If you could recall your previous firmware version prior to the one you are using now, then search for it, flash it, and try updating OTA or you could just download the latest version and use that.
