Xperia M2 will not get Marshmallow update, Sony released their roadmap for 6.0 - Sony Xperia M2

http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2015/10/06/sony-xperia-and-android-6-0-marshmallow/
Sony has released their 6.0 roadmap, and M2 / M2 Aqua is not included.
Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4 are going to get the upgrade.

It was expected. But what I didn't expect tho is that the E3, E4, and T3 never recived a single major update (They were all released with KK, RIP!).
At least we have a working, stable & Sony Stock 5.1.1 Lollipop (And developers are also working on cROMS with camera!)

I knew that anyway, T3 just wasn't a popular enough device there's less than 800 registered users on sonys support forum worldwide I've only seen one in pictures. Also been trying to tell people in the xperia groups on g+ for weeks that the z and z1 wouldn't get it not that they'd believe me.

Well, i had no hopes for the regular M2 since it`s past its support period (18 months for mid rangers), had a minor hope for the M2 Aqua since it`s newer. Anyway, the M2 had a good life, and indeed, 5.1 is stable and perfectly optimized (just as fast as the Motorola G 2014, a friend of mine has it so we compared). Hopefully they update it with a fix for the kswapd0 process sitting at 40-50% all the time and draining battery. Still getting 1 day out of it with normal/heavy usage, so it`s not a deal-breaker.
As far as the E series are concerned, budget phones never get proper support, OEMs make nothing n terms of profit from them, hence the lack of support. Even Mototorola, who IMHO, has the best trakrecord when it comes to updates besides the Nexus line, dropped support for the budget E line (2014 and 2015) models.

I will certainly be paying the extra come upgrade time to get the best Xperia device I can afford.

expected. it was a surprise they tretaed us with the 5.1.1. update and astable one too... lets hope they bother to fix the camera, gps and battery issues, and it was more then enough for the good old M2...

I know the 18 month support its over, but I still have a hope on the good old M2, just because the release of Android M preview on the developer section. That's how it started with Lollipop. So, even if I'm pretty happy with stock 5.1.1 (except for the camera), I would be pretty positive about getting a late release of M.

the good news is xm2 changed cm12.1 alpha to beta almost fully working, and waiting for cm13 , thanks cm team veryyy

It has been reported by @semil and confirmed by @linuxct that changing the swappiness value to something between 40-60 improves it (with zram enabled). Obviously you need root. Just make a /etc/init.d script with the following line
Code:
sysctl -w vm.swappiness=60
(you can change 60 to 40 or else while testing) or add it to /etc/init.d/00stop_ric. It changed f. nothing to my phone, though. It's driving me mad.
Anyway, 18 months support is pure bollocks. It should be at least 2 years (but I'd say 3), for all phones respecting the minimum requirements. The Xperia Z is still a great phone, I'm sure it will be more capable than some new low range phones that will have Android M pre installed.

[Q] Somethings about Xperia L before buy it

Hi buddies, I´m still searching a good Android smartphone to replace my old Live Walkman. I´m looking for a mid range phone to use everyday, I´m taking so seriously the Xperia L, but I have some questions before buy it:
Can you tell me your Xperiance (jajaja) with the L? Tell me about bugs, sound, camera, screen, battery and performance. I´m coming to Xperia L family from the Live Walkman.
What´s the difference between C2104 and C2105 models ? Who´s the best one, or the universal one? Take the example between WT19a and WT19i models (Live Walkman). In my country only the Chilean models are aviable.
Some things I may consider to use this smartphone?
The Xperia L supports a San Disk 16 GB class 4 microSD :fingers-crossed:? Have you used it? I know it supports ´til 32 GB, but I heard about problems with 16 GB cards (like songs bug)
The Xperia L supports 64 GB cards?
How will I know if my bootloader is unlockable?
Thanks in advance, I´m totally a noob
Sorry for my poor English if you find any mistake
Fairly speaking, the newer Moto G looked like a better deal to me, but I'm really happy with XL
Bugs : The newest update (.14) removed most of them, I can't seem the notice the reported ones too.
Experience : From the first day onwards, the phone felt amazing, coming from a mtk chipset. Sound is loud, earphones are amazing (but some like nokia are incompatible due to different standards), the camera I was happy with from day one, no idea why everybody was complaining, but the night shots were terrible, which eventually got fixed. The screen is sometimes too bright, when reading at night, and is ample during the day. The battery, on normal usage (1hr dead trigger 2, an hour or so of calls, constant 3G, messaging) lasts around 18-20 hours easily from 100%. Performance? COME ON! It can take any damn game, dead trigger 2, asphalt 8, without any noticeable lags.
There's no real difference except the baseband I think. I have the c2104 model and it gave the same benchmarks as the c2105 so not much of a difference i'd say.
I have a 16GB microsd class 4 and it works beautifully. No bugs whatsoever.
No, XL does not support 64 gb sd but considering that even 16gb is sometimes too much for me, I'd say im okay with it
To know if the bootloader is unlockable, enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialer, it takes you to the service details (if i recall correctly)
Please do not forget to thank! I'm a newbie too, its okay

I can give you good, useful advice. I also used the Live with Walkman before the Xperia L and my brother has the Moto G which I have tested. Below I have given a comparison...
Xperia L vs Live with Walkman
- Live with Walkman: better screen sensitivity.
- Live with Walkman: better front facing camera.
- Live with Walkman: louder (stereo speakers).
- Xperia L is better in every other way, better specs, newer android version, better design (imo) etc...
Xperia L vs Moto G
- Moto G: faster/better processing power.
- Moto G: nearly AOSP experience, very fast/fluid.
- Moto G: android 4.4/Kit-Kat.
- Moto G: cheaper!
- Xperia L: better design.
- Xperia L: better rear camera (not front, front camera on Xperia L is awful).
- Xperia L: sony features (media apps, launcher, themes etc...)
Verdict
Go for the Moto G, unless your getting the Xperia L cheap (like I did ), the Moto G will do you better in the long run.

[Q] What about Xperia M2 Aqua (D2403)?

Well im planning to buy Xperia M2 Aqua, but it prings up some concerns about development for this phone. On paper it has very simmilar specs to Xperia M2:
Both have 1GB RAM
Both have 4.8 inch 540x960 screens
Both have 8MP camera
With only diffrence being in proccesors (witch from what i know makes pretty much all the diffrence)
1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8926 Quad Core (only for Xperia M2 D2303,D2306)
vs
1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8926-2 Quad Core (for Xperia M2 Aqua)
I dont really know whats the diffrence between both proccesors, doubt we can talk about compatiblity. But its not a big diffrence right?
So would there be any development for Xperia M2 Aqua, since i doubt its going to get a seprete forum (would be great though)?
- The screen is now marketed as IPS but it still has the greenish tint at lower light settings, so no improvement.
- The resolution is the same QGA and that's fine for a 4.8 screen in my books.
- The water-resistant covers eventually drop off after some months of use, at least this is what happened on my V. Anyway don't rely on that and emerge into water. When new it's ok but after weeks ... you wouldn't be the first.
- The powers saving are attributed mostly to KK, you can have that also on the non aqua model.
- As for the processor I can't say anything, except that on my 2303 the core 2 and 3 are pretty rarely used. A custom kernel would be really needed here.
- The glass is still the same, declared scratch resistant but not Corning, and smudging in the same manner.
- 1 gB RAM to my opinion in practice is not really enough anymore, but that does not concern Sony only.
- Sony is not exchanging our devices for the after 5 months after launch updated M2. Also consider a Asus Zenfone, Xiaomi, or a Lenovo in this class. They cost either less or offer much more for the same cash.
Well Xiaomi is pretty much non existant in my country, same for Lenovo phones. I was considering Asus Zenfone 5 for a while, but the M2 Aqua has like 70€ price cut, so its a good deal for only 199€. The major problem is that i'd like to get Cyanogenmod on it one day, but though thats happing.

Is xperia z3 enough to run all latest games

Is there any heating issue like z3+
As a matter of fact yes the phone heats but not as much as the Z3+ and if your asking about the Z3 Horsepower in games Yes it can any title but unfortunately no Android Nougat
my second phone is a Z3 SliMM with adreno driver update and it still runs like a charm.
i almost regret that i bought the XZ. could still use the Z3 till the 2017 flagship arrives.
i run stock 5.1 rooted, lots of apps, can run almost all demanding game.
VOEZ, Seven knight, Valiant Force, Mobile Legends its run decently, but not as smooth as my iphone 6s. frame rate around 30-40 i suppose.
considering the price of z3 now, its still a good buy especially the 32gb one...

Oppo f1f vs Sony Z3

There are many Android phones in our home. I'm using Sony Xperia Z3 and Compact running stock marshmallow. Now on the other hand there's oppo f1f also almost same specs like sony z3 but oppo is octa core running on lollipop and much better mobo than z3. Now z3 is quadcore but running on mm 6.0.1 while oppo f1f is octa core also 3gb ram but m.f is running on final release by company lollipop 5.1.1
My brain is confuse really now and i wanna hit my head on the walls and scream like a nut case who needs some mental treatment.

Sony Z5 vs Sony ż3

To be very honest I wanna say something bulldog that though Sony z5 got a powerful snapdragon 810 chip support than Sony z3's 32 bit snapdragon 801 motherboard but I disappointed when I saw that Sony ź5 is out of devices list from carbon rom cr 6.1
I like that rom carbon cr 6.1 and beta cr 7
But I'm stuck on z5's stock nougat 7.0
And I hate this rom.
Now seriously planning to revert back ? to a Z3 device so that I could enjoy the carbon roms you beauty.
