When I got my tablet I rooted it and then like a dummy did the update to 4.4(i think it was 4.4)this removed root and caused troot to stop working. I then updated to 5.1,sigh. Is it possible for me to factory reset back to 4.1(or whatever it was when towel root worked), then somehow manually update to 4.4 or 5.1? Or if I root with towel root am I stuck at 4.1?thanks for any and all help guys and gals!!

will updating OTA from a rooted phone will unroot my phone automatically ?if yes will it delete everything ?
now i have stock 2.1 update 1 and root and want to update to official 2.2.1 ota
nobody know this?
Official updates will usually unroot you but you won't lose any of your apps or data.
If you want to root again after the update you can, but SuperOneClick seems to be the only 1-click method that works on 2.2.1.
i know unrooting is possible with RUU but i dont know if it is possible with update OTA , so will updating OTA will unroot my phone ?
Already answered.

Impossible to say, we don't have 4.4.2. There's already a few threads discussing keeping root on the small update though.
i have a droid maxx what do you have ? Also can you direct me towards those posts ?
I did the update its still on 4.4 though so it doesn't loose root.

Take it for what its worth but I updated my wife's RAZR m with 4.4.2 and couldn't keep root. I tried to hide root update failed tried root survival using supersu update failed. Both times it failed due to root being detected. Will it be the same for the maxx I don't know but it ain't looking good.
i have rooted my lg g3 with stump root, i would like to remove the root to update my lg to the lollipop software i have used supersu to full unroot and remove all root apps, i use root checker and it states i'm unrooted but when i go and install new software a message appears advising me unable to update a rooted device, can anyone help me i am unable to access a computer to unroot, i'm using my android !
Unfortunately you will have to find a way to get access to a pc to do this properly. There's rarely a way to revert to full stock without a pc.
good luck
I bought a samsung gt-i9500 yesterday with the original software on it and decided to to upgrade with kies to the latest version 4.4.2. I then proceeded to try and obtain root via kingo which takes and keeps failing after a while. Tried towel root -device not supported possibly because of a updated kernel release with the latest upgrade. Anyway i thought after playing around go see if i tripped the knox flag.....indeed i did. Status also changed to custom. Tried downloading super su chainfire for the time that the root actually works before failing......made kingo user crash. Restarted my device and my statust changed back to OFFICIAL and knox flag 0x0........thought i share this with you guys.
There aren't many new topics on this model so here we go,
My z3 stock came with 5.0.1 and as far as i know never (the 6616) had the 4.4 as an option. SO downgrading didn't work, so i'm stuck trying to root this with 5.0.1 and after two days of browsing this site there really doesn't seem to be a way to do so. Eventually i said $%#* it and rooted it using kingroot but after rooting it, root checker passed the root but would not give proper access when installing root apps such as busybox and the ta backup tool.
So i didn't realize that the keys ive been trying to save are useless anyways if i update android and the main reason for me going through this is i really don't like 5.0.1. Only thing i haven't really looked into doing is seeing if kingroot will let me unlock the bootloader then trying to flash an update. SO has anyone successfully updated a 6616 z3 (to 6) who didn't start off with 4.4?
