hi all.
first let me say i am new here. so if i am posting in the wrong place, or addressing something that's already been fixed i apologize. but i didn't find anything in my search. to make a long story short i have rooted my galaxy note 5. it is the t mobile version. i flashed my custom recovery using Odin no problem. i used that (twrp) to wipe the cache and davlik, and preformed a full wipe. then i flashed my ROM no problem. everything works great, except for the actual phone itself. about a minute into my calls my phone hard resets, then goes back to normal as if i just turned it on. i was told this may be a kernel issue, but im not familiar enough with that to know what my next step is. i was provided with a kernel file to flash but it didn't seem to help. am i missing something???? any help is greatly appreciated. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Ok Ill try to make this as clear as I can. I don't know what I'm doing and thought I would mess around with my Samsung Mesmerize for USCC.
USCC released the gingerbread update for my phone. So I went on their site and downloaded the installer and installed it on my phone. Before I was on froyo and was rooted with the vodoo lagfix. I did NOT disable or unroot before I did it.
Gingerbread update went fine and phone was working properly. I wanted to use my titanium backup to restore all of my apps but it said I wasnt rooted. I figured all I had to do was use superonelickroot and be back to square one. Problem is it wouldnt work.
This is where I really screwed up. I browsed around and found that I need to root it different because gingerbread is different and wont work with superoneclickroot.
I found a link to upgrade the samsung galaxy 19000 by using odin and replace some files.
This is where I really screwed up. I flashed my rom and installed the .tar file not realizing that it wasnt for my phone........
SIGH>..........
Phone wouldnt go past samsung screen which was all discolored and weird.
After panicing for awhile I figured I need to use odin again and flash an original rom back. So I found an original USCC froyo 2.2 rom and reflashed it to my phone.
Now my phone at least loads but I'm having a slew of problems. My internal memory storage is at 0 so I cant install anything. I also keep getting force close loop from twlauncher. I got that to go away by removing all of the widgets on my phone.
I have NO clue what the hell I'm doing and I'm afraid I screw this phone up.
I've tried hard resetting and when I do it, it says all sorts of failures and crap in red in the boot screen. It will reload eventually and the phone otherwise seems to be fine.
The problem is I can install like 2 apps and that's it before it says there in insufficient memory.
All I want to do is get my phone working like normal again.
What did I do wrong, other then the obvious installing the wrong rom for my phone?
I thought by reflashing with an original rom things would be back to normal, apparently not.
I would appreciate any help or info.
I'm not a complete noob but will need some laymen terms.
Thanks !

Update:
I restarted my phone just to see what happens and it reloaded like normal except it didn't save alot of my setting I changed.
So the phone is truly acting like it has no system memory. My wallpaper was back to the original one that comes with the phone and other settings were turned back to the original settings.
What will happen if I "clear cache partition" from the boot menu?
Will this help my problem at all?
Does anyone have any suggestions, I know someone out there knows whats wrong.
PLEASE HELP !!!

Update:
Ok, It also lost the one app that I was able to install, friendcasterpro.
So my phone is acting like it has no internal memory.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it?
THANKS !!!!
Same thing happened to me. Look up rfs formatter for the fascinate. After flashing it through recovery, flash your rom after while still in recovery. I had the same problem, this seemed to fix it for me on froyo. There may be other ways to fix though. Here's a link for it http://db.tt/JRseDsT. Don't know to much about odin anyone who does feel free to chime in.

So, I know this post is REALLY old, but would you happen to still have a copy of the 2.2 ROM? I can't find it anywhere.
RE: Process system is not responding
Anybody else ever run into this problem. I restart my phone and process system doesn't work right away. it takes sometimes 5 or 6 reboot attempts before the phone process system runs.
I'm not rooted regular stock.

I'm sorry your question makes no sense try explaining a different way
I would suggest rooting and flashing another rom. Sounds to me like something got corrupted.

yep same problem here. i tried all the answers i found online. havent came up with one that worked yet. not the rom because i just flashed a new one and same problem.

alright i fixed it on my phone. i did a full wipe. tell me if i need to explain how to do this. reflashed the ROM and gapps. when i went through the setup the first time there was an option to restore from google. it was checked by default. i left it checked. same problem... system process not responding... wiped and started over and reflashed ROM and gapps. unchecked restore google and it didnt come back. phone hasnt crashed since. the problem lies within the wifi passwords restore. the problem started when i was trying to start wifi. i dont know where to report the bug or i would. good luck and any questions? just quote this so i get an email and ill try to explain if this didnt make sense. hope it helped. if it did consider buying my buddy a beer who is a dev and needs a new computer. http://johntriger-development.yolasite.com/

I flashed a gapps zip from the site you linked me to and now when the phone turns on it says setup wizard is not responding and give me the option to force close. Nothing happens from that point its just stuck in a force close loop. I hope to god i didnt brick this thing. Is there a way to fix this problem? I didnt backup before flashing gapps and ive tried to restore the phone and wipe it clean but no luck. Any help would be greatly appriciated because i just got the phone, mainly to use it as a fun project seeing as smartphone customization has become my new hobby, and Im usually very good at it but now I am just afraid ive bricked the phone and I bought it unlocked so i paid a fair amount of money for i. Please help if there is a solution. Thank You,
Do you still have access to CWM? Can you make a clean install of any ROM? Wipe dalvik, cache, factory reset, format boot, system, data, cache and install ROM.
Download another ROM (and follow instructions from OP) which is not the one you initially had problems with (or download again - might be a corrupt zip file).
Thank you

Thank you very much, I followed and executed your instructions and now im running ice cream sandwich 4.0.4. not bad from going from almost a bricked phone to running one of the best versions of android. I downloaded offical roms this time instead of custom ones, first a version 2.3.4 and a 4.0.3, flashed the ics rom first and worked like a charm. Thank you very much, even got an update 5 min after i flashed the rom. You saved me 200$ and the embaracement of having a worthless phone. Im sure ill have more questions in the future, so glad there are ppl out there with the same passion for smartphone customization that i have. Much obliged. Omar
Newbe to vzw Samsung Galaxy s3.... I kind of enjoyed the TouchWiz features in the vzw store. Can someone point me in the right direction for a touchwiz rom with root where I can use the hand swipe to do a screen snapshot, etc, etc?
Currently I have a aopk rom on my phone that someone else loaded on it. Unless I am missing something, it doesn't seem to have touchwiz.
Can someone help a fellow out?
Thanks in advance.
I like this one. It has everything you asked for and it's cleaned of the bloat.

Link above will list pretty much all ROMs and kernel available.
You can test and see what you prefer.
Stable rms I have tested: cleanrom as stated above ans synergy.
....but just flash different ones and see what you like. That's part of the fun!
Sent from a SYNERGIZED GalaxySIII
Thanks for the replies... I see Clean and Synergy. I currently have Synergy on my TB. Right now on my s3, it came to me preloaded with AOPK. But that doesn't have TouchWiz. Which version of Synergy would be considered the most stable? It's hard for me to tell which versions are which. I did see someone post something about a version 1.7, but for the life of me I don't see that.
R73 is the most current 4.0 build. It's fan-friggen-tastic! 4.1 jb build us just beginning, so wouldn't recommend that one for you. Click the current build link and it will list all recent versions.

Thanks, I found Synergy R73. Now I am waiting on it to finish booting up. I am sitting on the 'Synergy ROM' boot animation, and it has been on that for at least 5 minutes. I think something went afoul here. Hmmmm.
Nope, takes a bit first time

Ok, I will let it go for a while longer. I hope this takes *wow*.... heh... I can't help but be a little nervous because it seems like it is taking forever. Wish there was a percentage bar or something... lol...
It's still going.... so all in all so far it has been 25 minutes.... I think this is taking too long- don't you think?
That's long, your bootloader is unlocked correct?

Yes unlocked. Tried a few battery pulls but no go. Then tried to go into recovery. Now it is telling me "Downloading... Do not turn off target!"
Your in download not recovery mode. Hold power button down, it should shut off after 20 seconds give or take. Then power, home, up (not down) for recovery

Device came preloaded with AOPK. I have not activated it yet. It's to replace my HTC Thunderbolt. I was wanting to put on a TouchWiz rom and load that first before trying to activate. Then once activated, I was going to get all my apps back from the market, etc.
I downloaded Synergy 1.7 from the download area. I copied it to a UTILITIES folder on the internal card. I did a MD5 checksum prior to installing Synergy and the checksum was perfect.
I then went to install zip from internal sd. I navigated to the UTILITIES folder, and selected the Synergy zip file. It then did some processing for a few minutes and told me it was done.
It was at that time I rebooted the device, and from there it sat on that Synergy boot animation.
I then tried several battery pulls after it was at the boot animation for 30 minutes or so. But they all just sat at the boot animation. Finally I attempted to get into recovery mode. I am not sure if I selected the proper keys, but used Power button, Home button, and Volume down button.
That's how I ended up where I am now.
Sorry I didn't see your message until just now. I will try again and report back in just a sec.
Did you make a backup before the flash? Did you wipe data before the flash? Have you been able to get into recovery as I mentioned above?
Ok, it took a few times, but I am now in Recovery. Should I do a "wipe data/factory reset"?

Yes I made a backup of aopk before the flash.
No I did not wipe data before the flash.
Yes, I am now in recovery mode using the steps you outlined
Ok good, you were just on sh*t street, but not on F'd lane! Yes wipe data, wipe cache, go to advanced wipe dalvik. Then reflash the synergy rom. This should work fine. bootup will be anywhere from 5 to 10 min
---------- Post added at 12:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 AM ----------
wipe data twice to be sure

*Whew*
I wiped data, cache, and dalvik. I did that 3 times on each one to be sure...
Now I am attempting to install Synergy again.
Will post back in a few mins.
Also, annoyingduck, thanks for all of your assistance and getting me out of that bad situation. Hopefully this time things will go smoothly.
- Update - it just finished installing. Now it is starting to boot up. I now have the boot animation screen and it is 29mins after the hour. I am watching the clock.... *keeping fingers crossed*
Ok, that's done. I don't currently have a sim card inserted into the device. I wonder if I can use the one from my TB? Or should I use the one that came with the phone?
Hi at all
I didn't reached 10 messages so I can't post my question on developer's thread, so I'm going to ask it here
I have a PureWhite L preview ROM updated to semptember release
yesterday the developer updated to a new version and I don't know if I can upgrade to a new version without a FullWipe
Thanks for the patience
If it doesn't say clean flash (full wipes) then you can try a dirty flash (no wipes).
If you have any issues at all after tho, you need to clean flash before reporting them, to see if that solves it.
Use titanium backup to back up user apps and data, and clean flash....that's the best way in my opinion. (obviously don't wipe internal SD)
---------- Post added at 06:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:41 PM ----------
Oh, when devs make major changes, they usually will tell us to clean flash....in that case, do it. ?
Thank you for the reply
I alreary use Titanium, I'm not a beginner but I don't want to soft brick my phone doing a dirty flash and the autor didn't mentioned if I can do it
Worst case usually if updating same Rom is some issues like force closing, or maybe a bootloop or something. If so, then just clean flash it.
I've never heard of a brick from dirty flashing a Rom update.
But, there's risk with everything we do as always. ?

Hehe that's an oxymoron. No such thing as a soft brick. Only beginners believe it exists
Seriously though the reason for boot loops with dirty flash is incompatible data. Nothing more. Nandroid. Titanium. Flash. If it boot loops, wipe.

You are saying that, more than one year ago I bricked my gNex doing an update of PA without a full wipe (only cache, dalvik and format system)
That rom is a cooked rom from an unstable preview, so if the developer made some important changes it can cause some major problems with booting like happened with PA and my Gnex

Whatever caused your "brick" on your gnex, I 100% guarantee you that it was absolutely nothing to do with whether you wiped or not.

I'm trying to help you. Your question is basic and any user who flashes ROMs should at least understand these basics. This is not a question you need to ask the developer. We've already answered. Its an answer we give a hundred times a day.
Try reading our sticky threads which you can get to via my signature. We've written everything you'd ever need to know

Guaranteed you didn't brick your gnex from a dirty flash.
You can't brick your phone from a dirty flash.

Honestly, if you are worried about needing time to fix the odd issue, flash stock and call it a day. This hobby can very often require some time when things don't work right.
That's just how it is. ?
