Copy/paste text containing image? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I copy text containing images in android 4.4.4 and paste it somewhere else, the text pastes but none of the images.
Is there a way around that or is it an android problem?

Android OS doesn't support this feature AFAIK but you can do it with StuffMerge.

How do I send a Shockwave Flash file (.swf) as an MMS text message.

Ok. I know this is a noob question pertaining to flash files. I have several funny shockwave flash files (.swf) and am able to view them fine on my home PC. I was wondering if there was a way to convert them so that I could send them as an MMS text message, and would be viewable to the phone on the other end? I know that when I download them to my Excalibur's memory card, they are not viewable in that particular file format.
And while we are on the topic, is there a program to allow viewing of flash files on a smartphone?
if you can convert them to executable flash files using Flash itself, you can send them as files in MMS's and if the receiving end has a flash player installed he can view them.

[Q] Android OS and App Localizations

I did a search for static strings localization in Android and found the development documents talking about res/values/strings.xml for default values. The documents also talk about res/values-<qualifiers>/strings.xml for localized text. The strange thing is that non of the 2.1 apps I have use these files for text! They do have 'res' folder, but non of them have 'values' or 'values-xx'!
On the other hand, some sources talk about localizing the Android OS itself through classes.dex file in system/framework folder. When I decompiled this file, I only found long list of .smali files with no indication of string values. So, the question is how Android and its apps can be localized?
values*/*.xml files are compiled into binary resources.arsc file. Use apktool or Apk Manager to decompile them.
Thanks Brut.all! I got them
What about the localization of the Android OS itself? Any idea how can it be done?

You can change the Android localization under Language & Keyboard Settings.
The localization strings for the Android OS itself reside in framework-res.apk file. I successfully edited the strings there but still having great difficulties pushing the the revised framework-res.apk back to the file system. I rooted the device and tried to replace the old one with a new one from SD card. The device halted and refused to boot again! The same behaviour with adb push command. Any help please?

Maybe your file is copy-protected? Did you try to copy text from this file on PC? I know you say you can copy text on PC. But did you tested it on exactly this file or on others?

Android shows files missing but Windows shows they are there

Hello,
I have a Nexus 6P running LineageOS 15.1.
So I have a folder with 5000 images.
When I copy this folder to my phone, I can see that the folder only has 4991 images.
So I though 9 images must have failed in copying (although I didn't get any error).
So I copied the same folder from my phone to another folder on my PC and it showed it had 5000 images.
I find this really strange, Android shows that the folder has 4991 images while Windows shows that it has 5000 images.
What is this happening? None of the images are hidden in the Windows filesystem, neither do they have a dot in front of them to be hidden on a Linux file system.
Bump.
Is it a bug of Lineage OS?

How to overwrite system file with script

This script creates another file in the same directory, with the *same* name as the desired target file:
There are now two files in the same directory with the same name (???). The original file has an Android icon, and the new file has a text icon (Total Commander).
#!/bin/bash/sh
...
echo $RANDMAC > /config/wifi/mac.txt
I'm trying to create a script, and maybe eventually an app, to randomize the MAC address and host name.
Changing the MAC on my rooted Nextbook Ares 8 requires editing the mac.txt file. (The normal methods fail.)
Android 5.1.

Hi. The only part left out is what sets $RANDMAC, and it isn't relevant. If you echo to the screen, the format of the MAC address is the same as in the original mac.txt file.
I'm looking for an active Android tablet forum, if anybody knows of one.
I also posted this question at android.stackexchange.com. The post has gotten 16 views in two days - and most of those are mine, from visiting the page when I'm not logged in.
