How do I send a Shockwave Flash file (.swf) as an MMS text message. - General Questions and Answers

Ok. I know this is a noob question pertaining to flash files. I have several funny shockwave flash files (.swf) and am able to view them fine on my home PC. I was wondering if there was a way to convert them so that I could send them as an MMS text message, and would be viewable to the phone on the other end? I know that when I download them to my Excalibur's memory card, they are not viewable in that particular file format.
And while we are on the topic, is there a program to allow viewing of flash files on a smartphone?

if you can convert them to executable flash files using Flash itself, you can send them as files in MMS's and if the receiving end has a flash player installed he can view them.

Activesync restore

Today I lost all the data on my phone.. no problem I thought, I shall do a restore using my backup activesync makes every time i plug my phone in, so all is fine and dandy. When it gets about half way through the restoration, activesync crashes (always at the same point). It is during processing a file called fldr1001dd8.
This means I cannot fully restore my device - very annoying!!
Can anyone help with this... can I make it so it skips errors instead of crashing? Any help at all appreciated!! Device is a Blue Angel, using ActiveSync 4.1
You want to download a free utility called STGViewer - this utility allows you to examine the contents of the backup file activesync creates so you can identify which data you want restored. If there is a corrupt file then you can decide not to restore that particular one but retrieve everything else.
Thankyou so much, I will try that!!
OK I have found it, but I cant work out how to delete a file from the archive with it. All it seems able to do is 'copy' files out of the archive :-(
Any tips?
You cannot delete individual files from the .stg file but the program does allow you to restore selected folders and files. So you can restore Program Files folder all at once - if that works then restore My Documents folder and so on.
You may find that by restoring individually there may not be any corrupt files. But if there are, then you just select everything else except the corrupted file - you can use drag and highlight to speed things up. A little bit tedious but at least you can get all your files back from a bad .stg file.
BTW, the file you mentioned is in Pegasus Databases which are system files
Have you used the program yourself Ian? If so could you please help me with the restore folder button.. when I select a folder, then the restore folder option on the menu, nothing happens. This is very frustrating!
Also, when I extract the files from the pegasus database and put them on the phone, the pegasus folder shows in the phone's file manager (obviously, because I just put it there). How do I restore them to the (presumably hidden) folder, where they are meant to be?
I appreciate all help on this matter, all I need back are my contacts, appointments and message data etc, the rest I can start afresh with.
No I have not used this to restore an entire phone, only to retrieve individual files. It does sound like you will need to start afresh and just use STGViewer to recover personal files from My Documents etc. Most installed programs in Program Files will work fine if restored via STGViewer- there is often no need to actually use an installation program as many programs work as standalone folders.
If you have synced with your PC previously, all your contacts, notes and messages will be in Microsoft Outlook so you can use Activesync to restore these back onto your phone. (assuming you had opted to sync these items)
I would suggest in future that you use Xbackup in the Programs folder to regularly save your contacts/notes data into permanent Storage. I also from time to time make a copy of my .stg file so that I do not need to start anew if my current .stg file is corrupted. Good luck!

Zip file download problem.

Hi, I want to know if there is any way to download files with extensions that are not recognized by the device using IE mobile? For e.g. If I want to download any rar file it says, " This file cannot be displayed on this device and halts the download". Or any media file that is not recognized by TCPMP/ WM player, it doesn't download. Since I use an unlimited data connection, I wanted to use this for downloading some files on phone and then I can use them to view on PC.
I also could not download zip files that I can see using Total Commander.
If anyone has any idea, please reply.
Thanks.
Yes there is a way how to correct this behavior. You have to use desired utility for that. Unfortunetaly I fotgot the name for it. Thy to search for Gonz Guava ROM - it has this utility included.

Backup phone data

Hi, I am a newbie in this area.
I need to backup phone data to my pc running Windows XP. I am interested in viewing the MMS files.
Can I backup and store phone data as a .dat file? Can I convert the file into a readable format to viewed on pc?
IF so, can someone suggest software I can use or options I may have?
Also, how can MMS files be identified? Is there a specific name or extenstion?
Thanks

Your best bet will be to goto the this forum and re-ask your question.
hm.. you can save the pictures/videos/audios/texts from your mms and copy them over to your PC.
Just open the MMS, click on Contents and select what you want to save now you can copy it to your pc and archive them

Files downloaded in .bin format

When I attempt to download an .mp3, . PDF, .doc (pretty any file) in chrome browser or Android Browser they download in .bin format. The weird thing those is they will still open in the correct program (PDF opens in reader, mp3 opens in music app, etc).
Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?

Yes I am having the same thing, but im running a transformer pad tf300t. I find sometimes it works by long pressing and saying save link as, but other times not. Any help would be appreciated
What are the sizes of the files you've downloaded? If they are the actual files, just with a wrong extension, you could always rename the extension in a file browser and check. As far as the reason, ..not much help there.

try downloading it with Chrome browser,
I had the same problem downloading .nzb files with the stock browser, with chrome it was ok
All you have to do is rename it from bin to whatever it is you downloaded. Example, downloaded an mp3 but the file is in .bin, just rename it to (song name).mp3
When I attempt to download an PDF or doc file from any facebook page they are being download in .bin format. The weird thing is that if i try to rename the file name to pdf or doc while downloading it is not helping at all. Any kind of help is appreciated
I have this issue in miui 12 in chrome...not sure what's wrong

Maybe your file is copy-protected? Did you try to copy text from this file on PC? I know you say you can copy text on PC. But did you tested it on exactly this file or on others?
