I cannot send or receive pictures! Why is this? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a galaxy s6 with verizon and hen I try to send pictures it says "unable to attach file". but sometimes it says it cannot re-size the pictures. When I have pictures sent to me they come through but never download it just stays on the downloading bar. I also believe I have my data on so thats not the problem. Why is this?

You can try increasing the file size limit in the messaging app you're using. This could also be an issue with your apn settings. You may want to double check them.

if you are using the default messaging app, there does not seem to be a way to increase the mms size limit so this is unlikely to be the problem. as for the apn settings, google your carriers apn settings and check settings > mobile networks > access point names and make sure the one selected has the proper settings,

Pantech DUO WM6 Doesnt have MMS Settings?

..Or i just cant seem to find it. I already setup internet with T-Mobile, but there is no "MMS Settings" under settings->connections or under Messaging->Menu->Advanced like in my Dash or WM6 SDA. I bought it for my girlfriend and it's annoying i can't seem to set it up.
Any help? I don't need the settings per se, i just need to know where to put them at! Thanks!
To edit MMS server settings:1. Go to Messaging, and Compose a New Multimedia Message
2. Menu/Options/Multimedia Msg. Options
3. Select the Profile to bring up the various settings. (MMSC URL, Gateway/Proxy, etc.)
Thanks man, i was going crazy and still couldn't find it.
Also, is there a registry setting to permanently delete the "Media Net" connection from at&t/Cingular? If i delete it it comesback after the phone is rebooted, and it's annoying having to delete it over and over again, anyone?

Prevent the creation of the MEdia Net connection and proxy at each boot:In the registry, delete the "Launch98" value: HKLM\init\Launch98
Useful if you're on AT&T blue or T-Mobile, for example.
i just got my duo unlocked and do not have an MMS option - is this in the version of WM thats loaded? how would i correct this? thanks!

Can't receive pictures since flashing ROM?

This is super frustrating...people are sending me pictures, but all I see in the text thread is "Downloading". I've got full strength signal, and sometimes I'm also connected to WiFi.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Are you talking about MMS?
When I was on JB,I had to manually install my APN settings for MMS.
Google your MMs settings, and enter them manually.

Could you give me a hand if you've got a minute? I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for, or how to access those settings in the menu tree? Thanks a million!
EDIT:
I found the APN setting in the menu...I made a few changes, hopefully that will do the trick!
EDIT:
Nope. Still messed up. Could someone share their APN settings in here?

Hi,
I am not currently on JB.
Go to settings/mobile data/ and I think APN settings.
Have a look.
First you need to google your MMS settings.
You want your carrier and area.
When you get to your APN list, press the second button from the left on your phone, and select a "NEW" APN.
Enter the new configuration,save,and reboot.
Let us know if it works.
I'm on paranoid android (i.e. JB)
i can receive mms pictures by doing these things (I use stock aosp messaging app)
turn off wifi
turn on network data
ensure mms apn is correct
turn off auto retrieve in mms settings
when i receive an mms, i have to manually download the pic. not only the stock mms app won't download the pic automatically, if i turn on auto retrieve, i dont receive mms at all. however go sms can download pic automatically.

I had the same issue. You have make sure that APN type is left blank. This fixed the issue for me. I had to use APN backup then SQLite editor to remove "default" from APN type and restore the APN.
Hope this helps.
Adblock Plus also blocks MMS if you added that.

What does it mean by APN type. Just so you know there is an additional APN menu on Google Hangout(default messenger for me). I did not touch anything there, it's there by default. I have added ST APN and 4g LTE is working fine and also receiving regular text messages. Not sure what else I could check for. I am not using ADBlock plus also..
Thanks,

In the APN settings you should have an option for "APN type". Mine was always defaulting to "default, hipri" whenever I would try to set it up. If you can leave it blank without it defaulting back, you should be good. I had to make a backup of the APN then change the database and restore it to make it stick. I will try to post some images for you.

Cant attach a picture (MMS) to a text

Im on Bell Mobility. I purchased 4 used S7's while in Florida they were unlocked on the AT&T network. When I got home all but the one worked fine. The issue with the one is that I cant send a picture with a text and this is in the stock app as well as textra. I have called Bell and after several days they say its my phone. I have replaced sim and factory reset the phone. I have checked the APN settings and they are the same as the other phones
Does anyone have any ideas

First, download using wifi both google message and keyboard from the play store. After installation, turn on your mobile data and turn off your wifi then try to send mms message. Also check network mode is swtich to lte/3g/2g (auto connect).
SirDre
There is nothing of the exact name Google Message do you mean Android Messages by Google. I have looked in my mobile networks and I do not find any setting to change to auto connect
Thanks

Yes Android Messages (They might drop the name soon).
Go to Settings->Connection->Mobile Networks->Network mode. Check if the settings is switch to LTE/3G/2G mode. Otherwise check Access Point Names to see if you have any settings for your carrier. Probably mms settings is not configured properly.
Samsung has upgraded their messaging and keyboard app to allow gif and mms messages. So far it only works well on Android versions 7.1.1 to 8.1. ?

How To Guide Xiaomi and Verizon

The followong devices have been tested on Verizon in the US:
Xiaomi 11T
Xiaomi 12 global version
Xiaomi 12X global
Working:
5G
VoLTE
SMS both sending and recieving
Phone calls both sending and recieveing
IMPORTANT:
MMS on stock Global/China ROM wont work on anything other then Verizon messages
Verizon Messages - Apps on Google Play
Stay connected using Verizon Messages on your Smartphone, tablet, and PC
play.google.com
Please install and set as the default sms app.
However MMS does not work on mobile data only wi-fi. Luckily there is a way!
Getting MMS on data:
So this gets complicated. The xiaomi phones come with the wrong APN settings. So what needs to be done is copying the APN settings of a known good rooted android.
1. Copy the telephony.db off the good verizon phone
2. Install signal spy on the xiaomi https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.novvia.fispy
3. Once thats done find out what the verizon carriee id is, it should be a next to verizon, ie. Verizon(######)
4. Now pull the xiaomi telephony.db off the device
5. Install https://sqlitebrowser.org/dl/ on a computer
6. Open up the dbs
7. Now delete in the xiaomi dbs all entries ror LTE - Verizon, delete the rows dont NULL it.
8. Almost done
9. Now in both dbs search carrier: Verizon and numeric: ######
10. From the known good db copy everything except the _id column.
11. Past the data into the xiaomi table from row 0
12. Now delete whatever rows were NOT altered.
13. Now both tables should have the same exact verizon settings except for the _id column
14. Push the telephony.db back onto the xiaomi
15. Reboot
16. Open the dialer
17. Enter *#*#4636#*#*
18. Click phone info1
19. Set prefered network type
20. Select the second to last option NR/LTE/TDCDMA....
21. Turn the radio off and on
22. Reboot
23. Open settings and select the VZWINTERNET as the APN (thank you bjs339)
24. ???
25. Profit
The xiaomi can be unrooted and the telephony.db will survive a reboot and a sim removal.
One thing of note, you may need to enable roaming and 5g for the phone to register properly.
RESETTING APN OR RESETING NETWORK WILL ERASE THIS TABLE.
Other apps will now work for text mms, but will be limited to downloads of 30kbs, uploads are unaffected.
Let me know if you need help or have any questions.
I am so sorry for my terrible spelling.
One thing to add, I couldn't send or receive group text messages with iPhone users until I set the APN. I had to actually go into the settings and select VZWINTERNET. This is on the 12x global.
Interesting, did you have to change any of the other settings or did just selecting the APN fix it for you? Also are you able to recieve mms on data only? Thank you.

Selecting it was all I did. In fact, the other settings are locked down. I think I can get mms on data or wifi if that's what you're asking. And I could message with individual iPhone users prior to making the change, just not groups.

Very odd, yeah I messed with it for hours but had to actually root the phone and adjust the APN settings to get it to work. Hmmm, maybe we have different. Ooooh, are you on the 5G plan? I'm the LTE plan.

No, not roaming. And I didn't activate it, just popped the sim card in. I'm rooted, too, but haven't changed anything that would affect this.
