4.4.4 vs 5.1 RAM Usage - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, all!
I've got an xt1045 (Moto G 4G), and it just came to my attention that Lollipop has finally been released for xt1045 (I'd frozen a bunch of the Motorola services with Titanium Backup in order to save on RAM usage).
I'm wondering whether I should upgrade to Lollipop? My brother has a Moto X (1st gen), and says it's very laggy for him, despite loads of free RAM.
On my Moto G 4G I am constantly battling with low RAM, and am never able to have more than one tab open in Opera without it reloading (and occasionally it will simply fail to load due to a lack of RAM). I've gone through and frozen everything I can, I've Greenified anything that runs in the background, but still have problems. At this point, I am just looking to get a new phone (minimum 3GB... I NEVER want to deal with this BS again) whenever I can find a job, but for the time being am stuck with this crap.
Will I be worse off with Lollipop?
Thanks!
ElectroPulse

Go ahead and update to 5.1,because lollipop made a completely "new phone" from this device......multitasking works fine compared to 4.4.4 I can switch between 4-5 apps without any redraws
Btw here is the screenshot of the ram usage

What is taking up all my RAM? (Phone very slow after unlock)

I feel like my phone has been running a lot slower than it used to. And on checking the running services I find that the numbers don't add up.
The total memory of running services doesn't match what's displayed on the bottom. Anyone know why that is or if this is on fact the reason things are so slow?

It doesn't show the amount of ram that the gpu is taking (think it's taking ram down to 35x mb) and android's share (reducing by ~150-200mb to 150-200 left).
So you're free to allocate approx 150-200mb for your custom apps. Your apps using approx 105ish, that's 45-99mb left, plus some background system apps. Seems you're ok overall, but as long as there's ram left the phone shouldn't slow down (even then the slow down isn't for long as Android will start cleaning ram automatically).
Thanks for your reply.
So, if it's probably not a RAM issue. What could be causing my phone to slow down? It's so bad, it's nearly unusable. Even locking/unlocking see some lag. It's weird because it runs blazingly quick for some time and then after I've left the phone alone for awhile. It's really slow when I unlock. Maybe the phone is having issues coming out of sleep? Any way to check/remedy this?
Sometimes when I flash a new kernel my frequancies go down without any reason, so I have to go back to setcpu and adjust them.

same problem
I'm experiencing the same issue. My ram usually reads really low on seeCPU. I always thought that my phone was slow because of that...
It appears not a lot of people are having this problem, so if anyone can provide some insight, that would be incredible!

[Q] Very low quadrant score

I recently bought a Nexus S from someone. It runs okay though sometimes I feel a bit of lag.
Currently it's running AOKP milestone 4.1.2. I run the Quadrant Standard and got very low scores, both with stock and custom ROMs.

Is this a cause for concern? Moreover, can anybody guide me what's causing this?

Try to wipe everything and start fresh.
I started afresh when I bought it. Unlocked the bootloader and wiped the data and all. But I guess I'll try again.
Meanwhile, any other guesses?
IF you look at your benchmark and compare it with Nexus s then look at the Blue cpu and The red mem - then you find your nexus ok - I Think you have to move your apps to your sd Card - smile
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Ok so moving the apps to SD card did give me a better score but the I/O and 2D scores are still relatively very low.

RAM leak? Post a screenshot of your RAM usage and detail

So yesterday I got my cousin's Nexus 4 side by side with my Moto G, and I went to apps, and I noticed something: the Nexus 4 has about 400 MB used of RAM (out of 2 gigs) and the Moto G was using a little over 500...
The weird thing is, we are identical users (no useless apps, just what we need), except he has the Facebook app installed (which makes my Moto G unusable due to RAM usage)
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT COULD BE THIS INEXPLICABLE DIFFERENCE? I mean, we are both on Dalvik, both were on a fresh reboot, background apps were the same, and he has the Facebook app installed (~80 MB extra RAM USED)
One more weird thing I noticed was that the Moto G used some extra 5 MB of RAM for some 3rd party apps (SwiftKey and Whatsapp)
I have the stock xt1033 4.4.4 (asian ds)
Can you also post a screenshot of you RAM usage and which apps are open?
I thing it is because nexus 4 have pure android and in moto g android is little modified by motorola.even if you freez or uninstall motorola app.you still have few motorola app service running in the background.

Sorry OT, couldn't resist myself asking this as I'm trying to find how menu button icons can be replaced with the ones you have running on the phone like nexus 5? I'm on stock Asia ROM . tried finding the option on nova launcher but....

Wifi initialization time

Hi there guys(and girls if there is anyone over here)
Any ideas on how enter in this menu? ..done it in the past but it seems to fail doing this again:

To be fair I've done this in the past with CM11s now I'm on CM12, I'd like to find a way to reduce the initialization time(although in CM12 things are way better compared to cm11s. Cm11s vs my brothers Xiaomi Mi3 was well day vs night, mi3 was WAY faster, turning on wifi and boom ready to go - mine was turning on wifi wait a couple of seconds then another 2-3 and I'm good to go)

For what it's worth, I can't test the update myself because hours after posting this thread, my beloved LG Flex2 died.
Sometimes there's only a few lines on the screen, sometimes it boots in QHUSB 9008 mode, oftentimes it boots a little bit but then dies, etc.
The same here - with this update it was getting slower and slower. Finally today my LG G Flex 2 died - it didn't boot anymore.
Mine is fortunately still alive and i did the update but didn't really see much difference in performance and whatnot?!? Update didn't even include newer security level which is odd. I guess this update just improved something that is not very visible for common user like me. Well, update is update and i was glad to see this model isn't totally abandoned by LG

Got the update also. I think it was just for new eu privacy law.
Nothing much changed.
